We thought it was worth it, but if we had been in a rush, we wouldn't have been able to stay. There's free street parking in the neighborhood, but some areas are sketchy, so just be mindful. This restaurant has a cool double door entry where you wait in a hallway next to another place. They'll call your name when your table is ready, and you'll step into the actual business which feels like going to another country. The interior is eclectic, industrial, cultural. I will start with, IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! A known ramen chef from LA follows Wu-Rons and the reason why the family stop by. Menu has good choice of ramen dishes and even offer a kids ramen. It is rare to find Kids ramen on most ramen restaurants. I enjoyed the Miso Tonkotsu ramen. Kids loved there kid's ramen. Which I have to say is rare to find kid's ramen bowls. The ramen itself is pretty good it has flavorful broth, perfectly chewy noodles, and toppings that taste fresh and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell they put a lot of care into their food. That said, the wait can be pretty long, and their open hours are short, which makes it a bit tricky to plan a visit. If you don't time it right, you might find yourself standing in line for quite a while. Once you do get in, the service is quick and friendly, and the space has that cozy, authentic ramen-shop feel. ****THIS PLACE GETS BUSY**** Wu-Ron's gets super busy so the earlier you arrive the better. There's an alright amount of seating. When you get there you put your name on a list outside and then wait for them to call your name. There is plenty of parking so that part isn't an issue. We started with an order of karage. It wasn't crunchy, but the meat was flavorful and tender. I ordered the #3 with an extra side of noodles. This was my favorite broth that I've had so far. Broth so good it makes you rethink your life choices haha. My guess is the butter made it more rich and flavorful. The pork belly was tender and delicious. Only regret, not ordering an antijama (marinated egg) with it. My friend ordered the #5, It was bold, savory, and full of traditional flavor. I got to try her egg which is why I recommend getting one with your dish. The customer service was good, they're attentive and kind. They also let you choose a sucker from a sucker tree when done. When we first got there for dinner there was only about 6 of us waiting to be called in. When we left the lobby was busy with about 30, maybe 40, people waiting to get called in. Wu-Ron's is a cute little ramen house with decent ramen I'd say. The service was quick, although the miso ramen wasn't very flavorful at all, had to add the black garlic for more flavor. The ramen however, I got the #3 Sapporo ramen, the description is what I exactly got, I added a marinated egg and that was delicious. One of our families favorite Ramen shops in the Portland Metro area. Their broth is rich and full of flavor, their noodles are fresh and perfectly proportioned. Their Tonkatsu is hard to beat, it is loaded with pork belly, I like to add corn and bamboo and a little chili sauce. Great ramen--maybe the best I've had in the Portland area so far! Expect long wait times since it's a tiny space, but there is a little Japanese cafe next door where you can order some bubble tea to enjoy while you wait. Keep in mind that outside drinks are not permitted in Wu-Ron's, though they kindly let us set our bubble tea aside on a trolley and we got them back on our way out--so it was all good. The Sapporo miso ramen was scrumptious! I nearly sipped up all the broth in the bowl, which I rarely do. Generous toppings, perfect, bouncy noodles. Be sure to add the jammy egg. We were planning on going to the OMSI that day & wanted to eat somewhere nearby. Yelp steered me to this way. A cute modern spot that runs a smaller menu. You order at the counter & take a seat. We went with the nagahama tonkotsu & sapporo miso. When our food arrived, we noticed we had 2 different types of noodles. The miso had a thicker noodle as it's a heavier broth. Both broths were very tasty, the miso was very creamy & tonkatsu was a lot lighter. Noodles were cooked to a perfect consistency. They are a small establishment with seating for about ~30 people. Going on a Saturday evening, the line was out the door the entire time we were there. There was just one person taking orders and bringing out food, yet she was friendly and hospitable. It felt like I was going over to a friend's house for dinner. The ramen was so good! I got the nagahama tonkatsu with thick noodles, which was pure comfort. The broth was rich, creamy, not overly salty, and the noodles were perfectly al dente. This is one of the more rich and flavorful ramen broth spots in town. They have tonkotsu broth as the base, and since opening, they're added a few variety of ramen with varying toppings. (They also added a mandatory 18% gratuity, which is fine with me because on average I tip 20% and they don't pressure you to add any more than the 18% when you pay. So not sure why people get upset with the 18% service charge.) This time I tried the Sapporo Miso, which starts with the tonkotsu base but adds the richness of miso and then is served with ground chicken, corn, bean sprouts and cha shu slices. It was a filling and flavorful bowl of noodles. I love this little gem of a place, but I will warn you that it's on the other side of the tracks and undoubtedly every time I go on a Saturday for lunch, I always end up having to wait for some long ass train to cross before I can get back to civilization. I ordered the vegetarian tan tan men. It was a kelp and shiitake broth. I didn't ask for the soup to be spicy (I should have!) The soup itself was flavorful, but I really enjoy a spicy ramen. It came with bean sprouts, cilantro, cherry tomatoes, and tofu. Chili oil, chili powder, and sambal is available to spice up your soup thankfully. I ordered additional noodles and bamboo. The decor is a fun throwback that pays homage to the 90s Japan pop scene with cool toy cars and Japanese rock. Service was great, it was quick and the turn around for the food is very reasonable. I'd say within 15 minutes of entering, the food was in front of us. One thing to note is that mandatory 18% tip applied to the bill, I had no problem with it though, it's even kind of funny how it's on parties of 1 or higher. We each ordered the Pork Tonkatsu ramen and I couldn't have been more pleased. The broth was rich and flavorful without being too fatty or salty. The noodles were perfectly cooked with just enough bite they absorbed the flavor of the broth and held up until I ate every last drop. The portion size was just right! It's been a long time since we indulged into ramen. This place is typical ma and pop family owned and run place. The couple runs this place like a clock. I guess it's a couple, I did not ask, but looking at their actions I guessed it. The ramen was really good the broth was rich, creamy and delicious. The noodles were nice and chewy.I also ordered extra chashu and it was delicious. The egg was ok, I was expecting it to be runny, but it was little tad bit cooked over.Chicken Karage was not crunchy but good portion and tasty. I will definitely go back and try some more dishes.
