Placed a large order that included brisket, chicken, salmon, a rack of ribs and 3 Xl sides. Had to have them up-size the sides when I saw what was marked as an Xl container was actually just a large container that was marked Xl. The actual Xl container had additional markings on the side that explained that it was larger than the one marked Xl. Regardless, I paid the extra amount and the sides were good. I asked them to throw an order of cornbread in at an extra cost. I found that odd since other BBQ joints usually include corn bread with an order of my size. Total for everything was about $160. What was comical when I got home and started to unpack everything I saw that the 8 pieces of cornbread were each about 1.5 " x 1.5 " x 1 " squares. We laughed, but come on, really. Looked at the menu and saw that they were listed as "mini" cornbreads @ $8. Overall the food was good, as it had been for past orders. Buyers beware....pay close attention to the menu to be sure you get portions the size of what you might expect to be getting. My bad, I'll eat there again. read more

What happened to my favorite BBQ place!!!? With how busy the boise area has gotten this place has gone down hill. I'm so disappointed. When you walk in there isn't a warm greeting anymore. No free rib when you walk in. The menu is huge and the quality has gone down. The smashed potatoes weren't eve.man smashed. They were just just up potatoes. Not even smoked. Room temperature so the cheese isn't melted. It is all coagulated. The Mac and cheese was super peppery and salty. Didn't eat it all. Not enough cheese. The turkey was dry and Luke warm . The ribs were also room temperature and dry. Everything was room temperature. The teenager that was next to me didn't eat anything. She didn't like the taste. This place has lost so much of its quality for quantity. I wish it stayed small and stuck to it's small but awesome menu, but they felt the need to expand due to the expansion of the area. We visited rib shack today for the first time in a few months and we were a little disappointed. I got the pulled chicken and didn't care for it. It had all sorts of beaks and gizzards inside and sat in a boat of juice. The ribs are usually better but the one i sampled tonight was cold and dry. I also couldn't find a bbq sauce that i liked. They are all pretty spicy and on the watery side. What really did it for me tonight was the antique farm weapon of some sort you have on the wall right inside your entrance. While i was in line a staff member rushed by me so i quickly moved back and practically sliced my shoulder blade open on that rusty piece of metal... OUCH! So that was easy... and omgoodness the smell is just divine and is probably half the experience! So...we have a smoker and we eat smoked meats quite often.. so I like ribs falling off the bone, sweet & sticky... these ribs are more firm with a pretty intense bark. Mr liked these better than I. I came in on a Sunday night for dinner with my family. I had not been in for a while and it has definitely changed since. They were out of chicken, pulled pork and tri tip! So I got a rib plate with a side salad and cornbread. The ribs were tiny and the cornbread was in little bite size squares with honey butter and were so dry I took one bite. The salad was a decent size but I was served two tablespoons of dressing in not exaggerating. We also got the "Canadian fries" again it was a small portion and just ok. For a family of five we were given two water cups lol. I can keep going but to wrap it up the portions were small, prices were not and the service was maybe ok at best. read more

The food is always fresh and most importantly they get the orders right. Not 5 stars because they are pretty pricey. However they are worlds better than the Bodacious Pig in Eagle who has yet to get my order right eating in or takeout. read more

The easiest way to say it, is that the food was just alright. We ordered through DoorDash and had ribs, brisket and some sides. No smoke ring on the brisket. Both meats tasted like they may have been finished in an oven. They were out of the coleslaw we ordered and charged for the substitution they made - ridiculous! This is the tastiest BBQ I've had, (from a guy who's had BBQ in 5 states). Upon arriving, you'll be offered a BBack rib. You'll be hooked, like heroin. My favorite is the order of half "burnt ends" and half baby back ribs. It comes with sides that are dynamite. The baked bean side-dish is filled with different meats and is a meal all by itself. The only down side is that, after their recent price increases, it's darned expensive. But each time is a savory treat. read more

Absolutelythe worse meal I've ever had. For starters my meal and delivery from Grub Hub was over 80.00. It started out we were told a certain time, it was an hour late. The ribs were dried out, there were six small ribs this dinner package was for two. One piece of cornbread that was not edible it was so dried out. A small container it was in comparison to a small salad dressing container of Mac and Cheese, again it was so dried out, and if there was cheese on it then it dried up and blew away. I was charged over 8.00 for a tip, Grub Hub services fees are insane, will never use them again. Then Rib Shack charges additionalservice fees for delivery. An absolute joke for a Valentines Day. Luckilymy husband understoodit wasn't my fault or cooking. I wish I could give scores on different aspects of the place. I'd give it five stars for the atmosphere. Very nice place to dine in and the staff is warm and friendly. The ribs are pretty good. Not the best I've had but pretty good and worth a solid 4 stars. But what spoiled it was their sauces. They were all hot to very hot with one exception, a cherry-based sauce. Now if you are a big fan of spicy hot to very hot BBQ sauces, then this is the place for you. Most BBQ places will have at least a sweet, mild and spicy sauces. I generally mix up the mild and spicy to get the right amount of spice I like. But I wasn't able to do that here. A little disappointing for me. But like I said, if you are a big fan of spicy hot BBQ sauces then this is the place for you. But I came here for the ribs and becuase the sauces for the ribs were such a letdown, that's why I gave them 3 stars. read more

The gentleman who I spoke to was very helpful and let me know it would be ready the day my son was to pick it up. My son picked it up and the order was ready and complete. My son phoned me to say the dinner was a smashing success. "The food was awesome!" I was told that the 12 folks were stuffed and there was plenty left over. His friends asked what his plans were for the leftover? They all went home with a nice lunch for the following day! Great food, great service! read more

This is a review of your food truck at Green Acres. We ordered a rack of ribs and the young girl working the food truck was the rudest person we have ever encountered at a food establishment. First we stood there for a full 5 minutes before she acknowledged us. Then she said "what do you want" we ordered our food then she put the buzzer down and walked away. No thank you, nothing. Then our buzzer buzzed and we came up and our food was in the window. I asked if this was our order and she looked at me and said "what do you think"! I asked for a cup for the barbecue sauce. She said she didn't have any. I asked for napkins and she said they didn't have any. We ordered a full rack of ribs with no napkins. I have driven by this place numerous times and have not stopped because there aren't many cars there. Went there last night with my wife and daughter and we were impressed by the excellent food. When I first walked in I was offered a rib. Once I ate the rib I got the rest of our family and we ate dinner there. There was plenty of space both inside and out. We ordered the sampler plate and brought food back home. The meat was fresh and really didn't need any sauce. We had burnt ends, brisket, and tri-tip. We had coleslaw, baked beans, and smashed potatoes. Even though the employees were younger, the service was outstanding. We will definitely be back. This has been our go to roll up the sleeves bbq. Very casual order at counter and they may even hand you a bbq rib to chew on while you order. All the usual suspects but we are always down for the smokes turkey, smoked tri tip and I get a burnt beef end special with 2 sides. They have the best baked beans with pork. The mac and cheese is good not a lot of flavor but not plastic cheese either. The coleslaw is crunchy and not over sauced. I love that the plates come served on butchers paper with a big slice of white bread.. go at it and try all the sauces. The price is fair as we usually get 2 more meals out of the leftovers. Sometimes burnt ends can be a bit salty but that may be me because we have tried to eliminate sodium. The tri-tipm was so tender and tasty I would order just that for leftover sandwiches. My husband loves the juicy tender smoked turkey. Very friendly and clean. read more

My father in law was visiting so I decided to take him to Rib Shack for an early dinner. Let me preface by saying I have had lunch at Rib Shack four times and never had a bad meal except for the burnt ends. We ordered the trash can and substituted the Turkey for pulled chicken. The brisket was delicious. The ribs were dry and lukewarm. The burnt ends were gray and dry. The pulled pork was dry and lukewarm. The pulled chicken had so much sauce it looked like soup. All the sides were tasty but you go to a BBQ joint for the meat. I also ordered the pulled pork sliders for my kids and the meat was lukewarm and smothered in sauce. All of the above and 6 fountain drinks with tip was $185. Definitely on the expensive side for what we got. We left most of the burnt ends and ribs since they were not edible. Maybe it was an off night but with the Bodacious Pig being right down the street I don't think we'll be back. I give them 2 stars for the brisket and the sides. read more

I am super hard to please when it comes to BBQ. I have 3 smokers and have been smoking meats for 20 years. Here are my impressions: As we walked in I could smell REAL wood smoke. Not liquid smoke as some other reviewer said. This was real smoke. As we came to the counter we were offered a rib end sample (nice touch I may add) and I bit into it....and asked "Hickory"? Yes Hickory and apple....BINGO! Another plus.....I use hickory almost every time I smoke. The meat was tender but still had that "chew" I look for in BBQ. Fall off the bone is NOT how BBQ should be so if that's what you want then stay home and do ribs in your slow cooker. Menu was gone over but the girl at the front. Yes it's by the lb. yes it's ala carte. Yes it's served with white bread. Yes is AMAZING. They have a ton of specials. These specials contain a 1/3# of your choice meat. 2 sides and a drink. I think my burnt ends special was $15 bucks. Score. The meats and the sides are CLEARLY marked on the menu with prices. No excuse if you "didn't know it would be that much". The food was delivered to our table and was presented nicely. Large round metal plate. Brown paper which your food is placed on. The piece of white bread is sliced the length of the loaf so it's a hearty piece. I used it to sop up that bbq juice and sauce. Yummmmm. The burnt ends were well made. Spiced nicely and cooked to a nice fall apart texture (burnt ends should be this way not ribs). They have 6 sauces on the table to add as you please. Vinegar based up to a KC BBQ sauce. (Wish they would add a Carolina Mustard Sauce....hint hint). The portions were nice and big. I had the beans and Cole slaw. Beans are "cowboy" style which means they have meat scraps cooked into them. They were soooo good. The Cole slaw was very good as well. Vinegary with a slight sweetness. Again the portions were very nice. The staff is so friendly. Knowledgeable and willing to spend some time with you explaining the menu and the different meats. This will be a go to when our home is done in Caldwell. Give this place a shot. Don't come here saying your not a fan of ribs then give them a bad review. Don't come here looking for mushy ribs. Don't come here if you are a vegetarian. If you are a BBQ hound.....GET YA SOME! read more

We ordered 3 types of meat for Mother's Day and it was very delicious. We had I think smoked Turkey, tri tip & pulled pork. The tri tip and the turkey were very good! Pulled pork wasn't anything special. This place is VERY expensive for what you get. We only got the 3 small meat portions and it was over $30 without any sides or anything so I'd be prepared to spend a lot if you take your family here for dinner. read more

My wife and I had dinner here, tonight. The red flag, we failed to notice, was the lack of diners on a Friday evening. We both had the burnt ends and I also had the pork belly. The burnt ends weren't burnt at all. They were also dry and chewy. The pork belly was actually hardened and had more of a beef jerky texture. The sauces were okay but, nothing to write home about. Several Sundays ago my wife stopped by and placed an order at the Hidden Springs Rib Shack around noon for 2 1/2 racks of ribs to be picked up between 5:00-5:30. When I arrived at 5:20 a sign on the door said they had closed at 3:00 because they had run out! So no ribs for us with company coming over for dinner in 30 minutes! Who ate our ribs?
