This place definitely felt like a tourist trap. Very rushed service. The food was not prepared well and the quality was questionable. The tuna special of the day was severely over cooked and tasteless. The chicken looked and tasted like it was prepared in a microwave and then tried to finish unsuccessfully in the oven, the yellow skin and heavy fat layer under the skin were very unappealing. My dish was supposedly to be served with asparagus and vegetable mixture but instead arrived with a mound of soggy snow peas. Cocktails were nonexistent. Servers were not helpful nor alarmed about such poor quality presentations. Go elsewhere. Chez Fernand and Le Reminet and La Renommee and Le Royal are all wonderful choices! read more

I was not impressed with the food. It has very good presentation but it was bland. It lacked significant flavor. Everything we ordered was lacking. I would not recommend. I order asparagus with morilles mushrooms, which melted in your mouth. I had the sunday special Lamb leg, it was very tender, but had a little bit too much fat. This was my first time checking out an "Art Nouveau" brasserie and WOW. My eyes popped as soon as I stepped in - brightly lit with the lighting further bouncing off the tasteful brass lining the bar. The waiters were super attentive to seating us and making sure we were always happy throughout the experience. I felt bad as we overstayed to the point that it seemed like they were waiting for us to leave so that they could too. I had the Veal's head which I'm told was President Jacques Chirac's favourite meal. So good, and not something I'd heard of before. I hope to be back or try out a sister restaurant in the same vein. read more

AVOID if you want gracious , fine dining ; it does not exist here . Excellent, friendly staff , however they are grossly understaffed . It felt like a Russian cruise ship experience on a 8000 passenger vessel. I want to emphasize the friendliness of the staff , and their eagerness to please , but they were just overwhelmed with patrons and were not able to provide a seamless service . I waited 30 minutes for someone to take my wine order . My appetizer arrived before my wine or water . I requested on 5 occasions a bottle of water , but the wait staff was so busy , it took 45 minutes and 5 requests to receive water . I ordered Primer Cru Chablis, (88€) and it was served at room temperature. It took 20 minutes to chill and enjoy . My sole meunière was professionally pre-plated table-side by my waiter , when he noticed the fish was not properly cooked , and he sent it back . Fair . I was impressed . 15 minutes later it was presented tableside and it looked lovely . However, the sole was tepid and the steamed potatoes cold . My suggestion is either avoid this restaurant to avoid service / food disruption.... Or arrive later in evening during non peak dining hours . My husband and I came to visit Paris for our honeymoon in early June 2013. This was the 3rd restaurants we've visited on the first day (1st one no service, 2nd one for lunch, this is for dinner); we liked how they open late (mostly won't close until 11pm or 12am). We chose the sitting outside; it was pretty chilling and perfect for a glass of wine. We ordered their steak, foie gras, France fries, and snails. They were all very flavorful and fresh; the steak was very tender and filled with juice - perfection. Our server was very kind, he was busy that night but still tried to make sure we have gotten what we need; when we first walked in there was another server who ignored us and kind of pushed me away while he was trying to get through, but oh well, luckily he wasn't our server. We left with satisfaction and would love to recommend anyone to come here for better service and food in the area. read more

Been coming here for years, and yes, it attracts tourists, but what doesn't in Paris? The decor dates back to 1908, very belle epoche and tres jolie, quite charming. We have always been well received and taken to a nice table and graciously seated. Wait staff has been very good, friendly, helpful, but not fawning or attitudinal. No snoots in the air here, just hard working guys trying to service many happy clients. We were here one time and one of the younger waiters fell coming up from downstairs. The place was quite shaken and when the ambulance came to take him away on a stretcher, several guests applauded him as he raised his hand in salute. There were some tears among some of the staff, quite touching. Great place, great food, really well prepared and plated. My husband selected this restaurant because it had a good rating on yelp. We ordered the free range chicken, the duck, and the Chicken caeser salad starter with a bottle of Chablis. I asked for a Chardonnay and the waiter suggested all the wines from a certain section of the menu-none of them was a Chardonnay. We selected the Chablis; it was only tolerable. The chicken caeser salad dressing was very bland. I could detect no anchovies. It was almost like very weak mayonnaise. My husband's duck and my daughter's free range chicken were also very bland. The mashed potatoes, however, were very good. Service was good other than the recommendation of wine. read more

Disappointing... don't waste your euros here.... I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before coming here but it would have been a moot point because we came here with another couple who insisted on dining here so we didn't have a choice. Yes the ambiance and decor is beautiful. The original interior from the Belle Epoch period is dazzling and the service was very good. But it takes more than a pretty atmosphere to impress me, especially in Paris when I'm paying top dollar. The entrees average 27 Euros. I'd rather eat at a restaurant that is less grandiose and enjoy higher quality cuisine in more humble surroundings. The French onion soup was tasteless! Horribly salty and stuffed with so much bread which absorbed all the broth. It was like eating a huge hunk of soaked bread with gooey cheese. We ordered the leg of lamb which was overcooked, (we ordered it medium) tough, chewy, and fatty. The gravy was bland. It was served with a side of boring white beans. The cost for this dinner with wine set us back 93 Euros. What a waste! read more

Does not even deserve a 1 (except the place's decor is quite nice). The maitre d'i was having a verbal set-to with very disenchanted customers as we arrived (that should have been our hint!). He then followed them outside to stand and continue, ignoring those newly arrived and everything else. He appeared to do very little at all except stand and chat in the doorway with a female waiter and one other while leaving the solitary good waiter to do all the work. The maitre d'i was also haughty and completely charmless. But far worse, the food: my 'pan seared veal liver' may not have seen a pan for a couple of hours and most certainly was not cooked to order. It was also tough to chew. And my companion's chicken supreme had a tell-tale congealing around the sauce which may have been the affects of a kitchen reheating light.. Recommended is that you AVOID this restaurant. We shall. There are many many far better places in 6e to eat at! read more

We just stopped by and asked for a cooler non smoking area. Matre D' seemed annoyed but sat my daughter and i at a nice table and we proceeded to have a FANTASTIC evening. Beautiful stained glass decor. Very professional waitstaff. Very efficient and of course delicious. The waiter was so polite and understanding despite me being 1. Very poor at French and 2. A friend recommended this restaurant to us as it is where Parisian eats, not one of the tourist restaurants. Our experience with food and service were excellent, the only draw back was that the waiter did hint about leaving a tip, which is not very common is France. Nonetheless, we were happy to do that. We ate Christmas dinner here on the recommendation of a concierge service. Food and service was below average for Paris although the decor was very traditional and nice. This restaurant is in a high tourist traffic section of the 6th and I would avoid it as there are much better choices in the area. We had Fried Smelt with Tarter and Chicken Terrine for appetizers. The Fried Smelt lacked flavor and the Chicken Terrine was average. The main courses were Apple Cider Chicken (wife) and Chiterlings sausage (me). The chicken was dry, the sauce had below average flavor but the apples were of the correct texture (not-overcooked). Since this was the first time I had the Chiterlings sausage it isn't factored into the rating. Dessert was a Rum BaBa. Seasonal sponge cake soaked in rum with whipped cream on the side. Unfortunately the waiter was over zealous in the rum dispensing which saturated the sponge cake, thus ruining the cake texture and dominating the flavor. My biggest issue with this establishment was the service. While english is spoken and all the service staff wore a smile the service staff was in a constant hurry (seating, table clearing, serving food, etc.). The fast service is reminiscent of eating in the US not France and ruined the experience. read more
