I haven't been to this restaurant in 11 years when it was in the other location. The new location is bright & modern and somewhere I would definetly love to come with friends both dressed up or casual. The vibe was great and as it was a special occassion we treated ourself to everything! The porkbelly appetizer was amazing I could have had that all night. I had the gnocchi dinner which was perfect, and the dessert was just as great. I don't very often give 5 starts but this was definetly a 5 start night. I will be back - much sooner this time!

The scallop risotto and beef carpaccio dish was good, but that was about it for me. Service and ambience was good.

Octopus appetizer

Ate here before a concert at Abbotsford Centre, and it was amazing! We had a group of six, and the server understood our timeline to get to the concert. The bill was split without any problem. Overall, great service. There is very little waiting area and only two metal stools at a very small bar, so don't get there too early for your reservation!! We did take advantage of those metal stools - not the most comfortable, but allowed us to have a drink and a chat with the nice bartender (good advice on concert logistics) before dinner. Hubby and I split the octopus appetizer, and it was terrific! Next time we will have to get 2 orders! The octopus was nice and tender with a hint of char. Perfectly cooked! Then we both had the lingcod entree. Beautifully presented! Both of us enjoyed it very much! Others had the brisket special and raved over it. Not a huge beer selection, but they had one of each style. We hat the local Fieldhouse Salted Porter and a Four Winds IPA. Nice wine selection reported by our wine officianado friends. We will definitely return! It's a little hard to find, and don't let the outside fool you. Plenty of free parking at the rear of the building.

We had some business in Abbotsford and were pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful restaurant within 5 minutes of our visit. I have eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world including some with Michelin star chefs. The food at restaurant 62 was absolutely delicious. We had pork belly, shortribs, and duck. Finished with a malt crème brûle. Everything all prepared perfectly and the vegetables were very fresh and tasty. The fresh warm bread was a nice touch as well. And the service was really good We will definitely be back!

Striploin Steak w/ asparagus

This was the best dining experience I have had in a while. Honestly I was expecting it to be a bit pretentious but it absolutely wasn't. The food not only looks good it tastes good. There wasn't a single thing I disliked. The price probably was a bit expensive next to like White Spot or something but I guess we're kind of used to spending this much in other restaurants anyway. So for the quality we got it just made sense to me. I mean I liked the steak more than the one we got at the Keg which was also a fantastic steak. And my asparagus was grilled to perfection. The potato with the steak was nearly cut into little medallions so that we could easily eat it but it still held the shape. I dunno these might be superfluous details to you, but for me they added to the presentation. The atmosphere was nice. Not too loud or bright or dark. We were seated immediately and the staff were very on the ball. Orders came out quite quickly in fact, which surprised me. My husband asked for something not specifically offered as a digestif on the menu but they had it. 5/5 we really enjoyed it. We will come back again.

Pork chop

Restaurant 62 offers what many restaurants in Abbotsford cannot, upscale dining. They have a small menu, but it changes from time to time. And they also have features. The best thing that we had on the menu was probably our appetizer and drinks. We loved the chickpea spread (hummus) and warmed bread and drinks. I ordered the Ginger Hippie cocktail, and my boyfriend got the Alexander Eggnog, they both were delicious. Our entrees on the other hand missed the mark, they were tasty don't get me wrong and presentation was there, but they were lacking in flavour. I ordered the feature Arctic Char fish, and there was just a lack of flavour. The skin had a crispy sear to it but I personally don't eat it so the rest of it was lacking in texture and flavour. It came with nugget potatoes and seasonal root vegetables which were nice, but I wish I had more sauce. My boyfriend ordered the pork chop, it's presentation again was amazing. There's was just a lack of flavour present within the meat. The portion sizes are great. You just have higher expectations for what you're paying for when it comes to flavour. Out nephews had Mac and cheese that they loved. We also had the sticky toffee pudding, it was kind of like a bread pudding mix with carrot cake dessert.

Risotto & Scallops

Tried out this place just Last week, and it's one of the only few upscale dining places in Abbotsford. They are a farm to table restaurant, and the menu selection is pretty great. Except vegetarian and vegan options which is why I had to give a four star review instead of all the stars. The one vegetarian pasta dish that they did have, was not good at all so that was very disappointing. I definitely will be back, since I enjoyed the appetizer which was the risotto and scallops and the main dish I had was Duck. They were honestly really well done in both presentation and taste and so it was definitely a bummer that the vegetarian pasta fell through. Also for dessert we ordered the crème brûlée, which was also a perfect light and smooth ending. I look forward to coming back to restaurant 62!

Great fine dining at affordable prices. I'd be paying double for the same in Vancouver, if not more.

The Frites might have been the best Parmesan garlic trout for fried I have ever had! The Gnocchi was light and fluffy with another wonderful rich creamy garlic sauce. DESSERT- Crème Brûlée had the perfect layer of caramelized sugar and wonderful cream to share to wrap up an amazing experience. Service- 5/5 the team does a perfect job managing the pace of the meal and keeping everything flowing well. Our waitress was especially kind and we could not have asked for anyone more perfect for our honeymoon! 5/5 or 10/10. We are from San Diego but it it so good, WE WILL BE BACK!

There's a certain romance people expect when they step into a French brasserie--the low hum of…read moreconversation, the clink of glasses, a dimly lit room that whispers rather than shouts. Brasserie L'Ecole leans hard into that mood. Maybe a little too hard. Look, I get it. Lighting can be seductive. It can soften edges, blur imperfections, make everyone feel like they're in on something intimate and vaguely cinematic. But there's a fine line between ambiance and obscurity, and this place crosses it with confidence. When the room is dark enough that you're squinting to make out what's on your plate--when you can't even appreciate the color of the food you're about to eat--you start to wonder who this is really for. Diners? Or vampires? And then the food arrives. Let's talk about the French onion soup gratinée--the kind of dish that should feel like a warm, savory embrace. Deep, rich broth. Sweet, slow-cooked onions. That molten cap of cheese pulling apart in long, indulgent strands. Instead, what lands in front of you is a salt delivery system disguised as comfort food. A few spoonfuls in and your palate is already waving the white flag. It's not nuanced, not layered--just aggressively, relentlessly salty. A blunt instrument where a scalpel should be. You start thinking about wine. You *want* wine. But then reality kicks in: what's the point? Pairing anything with this level of salinity feels like pouring a decent bottle straight into the ocean. Whatever subtlety, whatever character the wine might have had--it doesn't stand a chance. Then comes the brasserie burger. In theory, a reliable fallback. In practice? More of the same. Heavy-handed seasoning that bulldozes everything else on the plate. After the soup, it's not just overkill--it's a slog. Each bite feels like work. Finishing it becomes less about enjoyment and more about stubbornness. By the end of the meal, you're not lingering over dessert or debating another glass. You're reaching for water. Lots of it. The kind of deep, desperate hydration that feels less like refreshment and more like recovery. Like you've just spent an afternoon face down on the shores of the Dead Sea. There's a good restaurant hiding in here somewhere; since the service is spot on, buried beneath the darkness, buried beneath the salt. But as it stands, the experience feels less like a Parisian escape and more like a test of endurance. Cheers or Jeers.. .up to you.

I had the special of the halibut in a saffron sauce on a bed of spinach that was phenomenal. My husband that joined us. He had the ribeye steak. There was a shrimp croissant special that looked amazing but everyone said the food was very good. The complimentary bread and whipped butter was excellent and it was hard not to eat at all. It was a long time coming and they did not disappoint! From the warm and inviting atmosphere, and historical heritage house setting, to attentive waitstaff, and delicious menu options, served in the highest quality and with attention to detail, we were blown away. They sat us promptly at our reservation time, pulling the table for us to sit comfortably. Free complimentary crab puffs were given along with ice water, free baguette slices, and whipped butter. We ordered our martinis, which were delicious vibrant, balanced, and themed to the city. They were delicious and the mixture was mixed perfectly. He had the White Rock and enjoyed it; I had the Green Timbers. Our charcuterie was expertly plated and gorgeous to look at, along with fresh and delicious. The cheese, cured meats, and fruits were fresh, crisp, tangy, and perfectly paired with one another for a solid appetizer. We then had our encores. The steak I had (he had the duck) was the most supple, soft, juicy, and perfectly cooked medium rare I've had in my memory. I swear. If you love steak.. you'll love it. Perfectly seasoned, supple and soft... gorgeous. Along with the pillowy, crispy potatoes and veggies? Classic! The waitstaff were friendly, efficient, attentive, and cordial, with a smile and clearly loved their job. Ours, Mike, said he'd been at the place for over 10 years.. clearly, he liked coming to work. It's great to see! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our experience at the Old Surrey Restaurant and will 100% be back again, as well as plan. On gifting dinner to the in laws. I feel that considering it was not just any anniversary but our 25th, they did nothing to make the evening feel special which was disappointing. I'm disappointed as I was so excited to try Old Surrey Restaurant as we were hoping we could come here going forward for birthdays and anniversaries.

Came here with my husband on a rare date night. I was REALLY excited about this place. The menu had…read morea lot of our favorite dishes. For starters, we ordered the artisan bread, a dozen oysters, and the beet salad. As someone who bakes and sells my own artisan sourdough, I was underwhelmed by the bread. I liked the touch of truffle they add to it but it needed salt. And it also needed to be on the table well before the 35 minutes we waited for it. The oysters were also not very memorable. I can't remember what one of the varieties was, but they were brinier than I care for but that's just a personal preference. The kumamotos were the TINIEST oysters I've ever seen. I've eaten my share of kumamotos and I know Japanese oysters are generally smaller and sweeter than other varieties (which is why they're my favorite) , but I'm not exaggerating when I say they were the size of quarter. I also didn't like the frozen mignonette they served as an accoutrement. It didn't seem frozen--it spread like jam. It didn't really taste like vinegar or shallot like mignonette should. It was just not very good. The beet salad was EXCELLENT. The chèvre was generous, the bitter micro greens tasted great with the beets and chèvre. It was well seasoned. We devoured it. For entrees, I had the dayboat scallops and my husband had the duck leg. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the leek risotto was very tasty. I'm not really sure what I was supposed to do with the pickled lemon on my plate. I tried to eat a small piece with the other elements and it was so overpowering that I left the rest on my plate. Now let's talk about the protein--my $52 scallop dish came with THREE scallops. Not even whole scallops as I'm pretty sure they were cut in half to cook more evenly. Three small 1/2 scallops and two cubes of pork belly. For Fifty-two dollars. My husband enjoyed the duck, but again, the portions were disappointing. $230 later, we ended up going through a drive through because we were still hungry. Unlikely we'd return after such an expensive meal left us so unsatisfied.
