Went when it was really sunny and hot out and the patio was packed. It's a lovely spot with a nice view of the people going by on the main strip of Fort Langley. The staff here is excellent, and the food is really good and reasonably priced. Fort Langley is a quaint little town with lots of cute stores and restaurants. We were there around lunch time so we looked for the best place for a quick lunch. The menu of Beatniks bistro got our attention. Our group ordered a few drinks, the french onion soup, chicken wings, crab cakes and a salmon burger. It took soooo long! The service was clearly not great. The food itself was ok. The onion soup was good but way too hot and took ages to cool down. The crab cakes were tasty but a bit too small. The salmon burger was a bit dry but the yam fries were great. The chicken wings were basic bit alright. Getting the bill took a while too, and the waitress never came to take the payment. I had to go to the counter to pay otherwise it would have probably taken another 15mn. Not impressed with this place read more

Stopped in for a nice dinner without reservations on a Saturday and had such a lovely evening. While there was a bit of wait for a table, the bar was open and was perfect. Our server was super helpful, fast and fun to chat with. The patio was lively and beautiful but not too loud made for a great evening. We decided to split the gnocchi and scallops and they both were absolutely incredible. I think i have been dreaming of both plates ever since! The prices are fair for how great of a restaurant it is and beautiful the food is. Definitely will consider coming here instead of a night downtown next time. I first off want to say, I will be dead honest when reviewing this, no bull crap, no glazing, just, honesty. Before COVID era, this place was great, A lot of choice and great aesthetic (which it still has) food was (at the time) very good and the patio is a great addition, with a nice view of Fort Langley, lots of space and tables for customers. The service is good as always, the waitress's are very nice! Now, about the menu, the menu is very limited, too limited, their needs to be more entree's added to it, 2 more dishes would be perfect, but, honestly, those 6 main entree's aren't great, but they're not bad. What would majorly benefit for this restaurant is, a HAPPY HOUR! Add some specials! It really needs it, because I'm not coming to a restaurant with the same shit on the menu only to get a Beef Dip Sandwich, people get bored of eating the same food from a restaurant they've been eating at for years with no changes to the menu, its how a good hand full of restaurants fail. The gnocci, is, and I'm using a scary word here, its basic, yes the sauce is ok, its cooked, but its basic, theirs no Pizzazz to it, it gets old and relying on the parmesan to add some extra taste makes the dish unnecessarily sharp. The addition of a bundle of sprouts as a garnish is just, why? I'm eating more garnish then I am gnocci, if it was a mistake, oh well, whatever, but if they've been putting a good bundle of sprouts on that gnocci as of recent, I'm still asking myself, why? For dessert, I ordered the cheesecake, boy was I disappointed. It tasted like it was freezer burnt and store bought. Now I honestly don't expect every restaurant to make their own desserts, and that's fine, but I swear, if you make the excuse that you do in fact make it in house, why are you lying? I know what imported desserts taste like. I'm sorry if this comes across as rude, mean or being an asshole, but I am being dead honest with you, this place needs to add A LOT of stuff, because its lacking it. We love Beatniks but today I was disappointed because my plentiful bowl did not have any avocados in it! We ordered a burger, plentiful bowl and aubergine dip = $59 with 15% tip. We checked this place out at the urging of our Sons, and are we ever happy we did! The location is great for people watching in historic Fort Langley, the service exemplary, and the food stellar! We have now been there a number of times, now, and it was consistently excellent. We can only attest to the the weekend brunch menu, but would hazard a guess that the food throughout will leave you satisfied with the quantity and impressed with the quality. There is usually a queue on weekends, but the wait is well worth it. They will take your number and call you when your table is ready. That allows you to wander a little bit and visit some of the many shops and services nearby. Street parking can be difficult, but they have a large parking area behind the restaurant that hasn't been busy the two times we have used it. The Lakeboat Lager is fantastic, and had our male half scouring the private liquor stores all around Langley, sadly with no luck. Just one more reason to continue to explore the menu again and again! read more

This was a very pleasant surprise! No reservations and 20 min wait at lunchtime but we'll worth it. This is a small comfortable cafe in the heart of Fort Langly. The staff is excellent, quick, efficient and friendly and the food was outstanding. I had my go to Caesar and they use a great mix of greens including a bit of kale that was just delicious. The dressing matched, not too much not to little and great flavor. My partner had their soup of the day: "Baked Potato". It was amazing! Perfect texture and full of flavors. We had some garlic bread as well and it was great also. Top it off with a "Caesar" and a "Mimosa", perfect lunch on a rainy day. What a great experience! A laid back vibe in a funky historical space, with quality food and friendly service. 4+ stars on all fronts. This is a versatile place that is upscale enough for date nights but with a casual and affordable side that is great for families. The meals we had were outstanding. The filet mignon was a little on the small side even for a filet, but it was cooked to my wife's liking to perfection and she thoroughly enjoyed the cognac peppercorn sauce that was overtop. She didn't feel like the garlic mashed potatoes and greens that came with it as a standard though, so they provided outrageously crispy fries and delicious broccolini. We saw the fries that came with the handhelds being walked past us a couple times, and I truly believe they did something different to the ones that came with the steak. I had the scallops with wild mushroom risotto. The scallops were great -- maybe a TOUCH on the more cooked side but still succulent and delicious. The risotto was a great complement to the scallops. It was perfectly toothy with a vibrant wine, lemon and fresh herb intensity that cut through the richness of the dish. We'll be back many times, we can already tell. read more

Our waitress Jenny knows what we like and what our favorites are and if there is something new she knows if we would like it or not. I have been to Fort Langley several times but never to Beatniks, and I was pleasantly surprised by the veggie fare! My fellow diners spoke highly of the chicken wings and I shared the avocado toast and Plentiful Bowl with a friend - both were SO GOOD! And vegan, if you skip the egg on the toast! Avocado toast was simple but well-executed with great flavour and balsamic glaze, and the bowl was full of texture and the chickpeas were PERFECTLY crispy. Local bistro in Fort Langley with good service! The food is not the most memorable but it is solid. I ordered the artisan salad with wild salmon on the side - salmon was dry. My partner had the beef dip which was pretty good. The sour dough bread it came with held in the sandwich fillings nicely and held together with the beef dip. The fries I think came from frozen tho. After a beautifully pleasant evening walk through Fort Langley, we decided to stop in at Beatniks for a beverage and a snack. There was a great singer with a guitar at the front of the house belting out some folksy rock covers; definite Hollow Coves/ City & Colour vibes, or maybe it was the hat :-) The place was sparsely inhabited when we got there with some empty tables right near the front door. There was not a "please seat yourself/wait to be seated" sign, nor any host or hostess to be seen anywhere. As the music was quite loud, the waitress walking by acknowledged me with a smile, then nodded and pointed at a table next to us to be seated. We grabbed a seat and waited a few minutes. Waited some more. Finally a bitterly irate young lady in showed up, and proceeded to berate us for seating ourselves "I am the hostess and it's my job to seat you." she said quite rudely. "Just so you know for next time. " ------ Wow, super appreciative that you taught us how being seated at a restaurant works, now I can leave the house without fear. --------- I proceeded to advise her that we didn't see any "Please wait to be seated" signs, and that the server had waved us to the table. This did not seem to mean anything to her. Came off like a complete spoiled brat. We apologized and smiled regardless, it's the Canadian way! Anyways, when the server came back, and we explained what happened, she was quite apologetically pleasant, the drinks were tasty, the singer was fantastic. So five stars for service + food, five stars for music, -30 stars for the hostess. I really hope it was an off day for her because if she's like that all the time it will certainly reflect on Beatniks usually great vibe. read more

My family and I came here for brunch while visiting the area and its not bad for a cute restaurant in a very old-style town. We treated ourselves to a seat inside since it was scorching today! We ordered their fish and chips, classic benefit and prawn and crab salad. All of the food took a little while to come but when it did, the eggs were poached perfectly, the potatoes very crispy and the fish was steaming on the inside. The highlight of the meal was the mango vinagarette that came with the salad as it wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of acidity to bring out the flavours of the fresh crab. One complaint is that the salad didn't have enough greens and WAY too many fried onions! The breakfast potatoes were also deep fried making them a little oily but they were still tasty! Overall, not a bad choice for brunch but the prices are a little high. read more

It was our first time here and as Himself put it, "sounds like a funky place". What we didn't expect was the accommodating staff, lovely, but not overwhelming atmosphere, and fabulous food! I have lots of food allergies but the mussels in a tomato / roast pepper sauce were adapted for me. They were the best mussels I've had in several years. Great location, friendly staff, and lots of room indoors and outdoors (post remodel). We came on a sunny spring afternoon and outdoor seating was completely full. The hostess was very helpful and seated us inside on a raised bar table. The brunch menu is available on weekdays until 2 or 3 pm (oops I forgot) and have some decent selections. We went ahead and ordered off the regular menu-fries and crab cakes. The fries were fresh, tasted original, and came with a red pepper aioli-pretty tasty. The crab cakes were good and had a nice crust on the outside; unfortunately, they somehow though having a "chimichurri" type of sauce under the crab cake would be a hit. Instead, it make the crab cake soggy and the flavors didn't go well together. We also ordered some mimosa's-they were ok. Nice service but I think they were understaffed since it took some for us to get our order taken and served. read more

It's quite a small restaurant which makes it a little cramped during the colder days when the patio isn't open, but in the warmer months they open the front patio and it seats a lot more people. Service has always been pretty good every time I've come here. Their GASOLINE ALLEY LEMONADE is delicious and one of their signature drinks. My favorite food item will always be GNOCCHI, it's fresh handmade with roasted mushroom, peas and garlic cream sauce. I usually get it without chicken, but you can order with if you prefer, and I get extra mushrooms and peas because why not! Highly recommend if you're in Fort Langley to check it out! read more

Had a lovely lunch on the patio over the weekend. There was a 10 minute wait (for the patio only, indoor seating was readily available) which gave us enough time to browse in the chocolate/candy store next door until our names were called. Just a heads up - the "Mains" on their lunch/dinner menu are not available during lunch time. I was a bit disappointed with that but it worked out fine since everything we had was incredibly flavourful, fresh and delicious. Crab & Shrimp Salad ($16) FIVE STARS - Imagine a crab & shrimp cold "cake" with fresh mixed greens and a sweet mango dressing. It was not what I was expecting, however it was really damn good. French Onion Soup ($10) FIVE STARS - Probably the best French onion soup I've had! Salty, melty cheese and the perfect "comfort" soup. Beatnik Burger ($16) FIVE STARS - I had a bite of my bf's burger and it was super juicy, a bit char-grilled and very flavourful. We were both big fans. The fries were also top-notch, handcut and had a nice fry to them. Spinach & Artichoke Dip ($12) 3.5 STARS - SUPER DELICIOUS, I just wish there was more for the $12 price tag. Also wish they were served with flat bread instead of tortilla chips. Caesar ($5) THREE STARS - It was a pretty average Caesar with two olives as garnish. We've been meaning to try Beatniks ever since my family and I moved into Langley last summer. What better day than today on a Mother's Day for my wife to enjoy? Given it was as special day and we didn't make reservations, it was a bit of a wait. Our server apologized for the wait as someone called in sick, so more pressure was put on the rest of the staff on what is already a normally busy brunch time. But the wait wasn't too bad at all, considering we walked in at 11am. But reservations are definitely recommended. Onto the food. It was bennies for both my wife and I. Westcoast (served with crab cakes) Benny for me with a side of chorizo sausage and the Classic Benny with a side of fruits for wifey. Both were delicious. The breakfast potatoes they came with were perfectly crispy. Although I would have preferred a bit more hollandaise sauce....I like my bennies smothered in it. But that's a personal preference. Staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was cute. We were seated inside which I didn't mind as it was quite cloudy today, but the patio is definitely where you should be. We came in at the beginning of dinner rush. Were seated quickly, waitress was very friendly, water was on our tables as soon as we were seated and our coffee arrived super fast aswell. So many things looked delicious on the menu, I ordered the chefs gnocchi (gnocchi in cream sauce with peas mushrooms and chicken (also an option to not get chicken). The food arrived soon after ordering, honestly it was so speedy I was skeptical that it would be good. Man was I wrong!!! The gnocchi were like little pillows, the grated cheese on top added another layer or flavour to the already flavourful sauce, the mushrooms were cooked perfectly and so were the peas. I was shook. Went into a random restaurant while in the area looking for some vintage furniture, and found this gem!!! After I devoured my meal my only regret was not eating it slower so I could have savoured it for longer. One minor note, I didn't think the chicken added anything flavour wise to the meal. It tasted fine, but with everything else on the plate being perfect Id be curious to try without. Will probably order veggie version next time to compare. (18$ for chicken 13$ for veggie) Atmosphere inside was also nice, good romantic music, AC on ;) and the staff was very attentive. Spent Thursday night on the patio. Awesome band played understands that the volume of the music can be thoroughly enjoyed without overpowering conversations. They were great. We came with a group of 9, so we had to make sure we came early. It was well worth it. We started with drinks while we waited for everyone to get there. The Purple Haze was delicious. Then came appetizers. Yam fries, which were great to share, and a small plate of coconut shrimp. Dinner consisted of gnocchi, beef dip, Thai curry dish and seafood linguini. Not one complaint. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. It was the first time for us, but some of the people we went with go on a regular basis, and I can see why. Great place to spend with friends and family. read more
