Lavender?? No, just some slightly amber gin that I can't even mix with anything. Whitley Niell makes a great Parma Lavender Gin that I first tried in a cocktail in Portsmouth UK. It isn't sold in Canada anymore unfortunately and was only for a short period. That was the reason I snapped up the Roots and Wings gin but I am resigned to using it for cleaning. I did try some of their other products and only the Abisnstine impressed me. I would have loved to have given a great review of their liquor but that wasn't possible. Drinking their cocktails is a different thing as they have a great mixologist. My advice- visit them, get a sample before buying, and buy only what tastes good to you. Everyone has different tastes.

I won't really go into any detail about each spirit since everyone has their own preference when it comes to alcohol. What I can say is that their Old Fashioned Spirit was my favorite. The service: The person working at the time was really friendly and helpful. Willing to answer questions about the spirits and make recommendations. The distillery: It's small and due to Covid Protocols they're only accepting 6 people in the building; however, they have a lot of outdoor space to enjoy. Their pick-up truck bar is the most eye catching so that's where we sat. I'd 100% come back here and if I lived in Langley I'd probably make this place one of my go to hangouts.

Service was competent and delivered well. Wine list was absolute trash, worst sort of muck possible. There was a sparkling Chardonnay, cloudy with subdued aroma and while it had an element of yeastiness, it lacked sur lie qualities--no mannoprotein feel, no amino cracker/biscuit hints. There was an orange wine that was violent with isovaleric and butyric acid (foot stank and vomit). One okay Bordeaux-style red. I've had it before and the effort the winemaker put in showed, and not in a great way. Still managed to enjoy it. And a red that was made with Pinot Noir and Empress plums. The tannin profile of a plum is vastly different from grapes, and the short-chain tannins are bitter, harsh and abrupt and the fruit character was bland, despite excess acid and over-extraction of the Pinot. Whomever compiled the wine list glossed right past hundreds of really good solid wines from the Campbell Valley region, not 5 kilometers from the restaurant. The worst wine from the 16th avenue corridor would have mopped the floor with these utter dogs. Instead they chose 'edgy' wines. Look I'm a professional winemaker and a sommelier. I get chasing the cool and all, but this list is the sign of an immature and not-talented wine chooser. Match the food, match the budget, match the season, and for gosssakes don't sell wine that smells like vomit because someone convinced you Orange is the new Cab. Nothing about the experience justified a $350 tab for two (2x$85 tasting menu, 2x$50 wine pairings plus tax and tip). If I want hyperlocal I'll stay home and make fully realised food and serve it with wine that doesn't smell like it was vomited into a pair of cheesy old-guy workboots before being served.

BUYER BEWARE - WEBSITE HACKED?…read more I've ordered from Republica a bunch of times before with no issues and really enjoy their roasts but my last order was a mess. Paid through their website using PayPal and the money went to some random business name I've never heard of. A few days later they emailed me saying they never got the funds and basically told me to contact PayPal to try to get the money back. Their explanation was that it was a "PayPal technical issue" and that I should always double check the payee name before sending money. That doesn't sit right with me. If I'm checking out on your official website I shouldn't have to second guess whether the payment is actually going to you. Their site was either hacked, their PayPal setup was compromised, or they misconfigured it. How can I check out on YOUR website, have a receipt showing 4 lbs of roasted coffee, but the seller name on PayPal is some random name not associated to them? In addition to that, when they contacted me about my order they accidentally CC'd other people who were most likely affected by the same issue. Their official responses: "Unfortunately, due to a technical issue with PayPal's payment system, some payments were mistakenly authorized to an account not associated with us. In some cases, transactions have shown the recipient's name as "Toko Maria" or "Toko Putri." Please note that Republica Coffee never received these funds." "We wanted to clarify that due to a recent technical issue with PayPal, some payments were mistakenly authorized to accounts not associated with Republica Coffee. If your transaction shows any recipient other than Republica Coffee Roasters Inc., the payment did not reach us. As a result, your current order has been cancelled, and you can place a new order."
