We came by for brunch on the weekend, and no wait was great! The service was pretty good even when the restaurant was busy (10:30am). The menu had a good selection and the servers try to offer drinks and fruit bowl upgrades. The PurWestern Omelette ($19.75) was pretty over done so not for my liking. I was hoping for light a fluffy and omelette. The Canadian Breakfast ($20.75) was pretty tasty with 2 eggs, 3 Bacon, 1 breakfast sausage and ham and I chose the half waffle, cubed potatoes, fruit plus toast. Just had brunch at Pur & Simple and I'm already thinking about when I can come back. I ordered the Cheez-burger Eggs Benedict--a fun twist I wasn't sure about at first, but it totally delivered. The eggs were some of the orangest, most vibrant yolks I've ever seen (a sign of quality, for sure), and they were perfectly poached. The cheeseburger patty underneath was super flavorful--well-seasoned, juicy, and honestly just worked so well with the hollandaise. It's a bold dish and they absolutely nailed it. The quality of everything stood out--fresh ingredients, great flavor, and a presentation that actually made me pause before digging in. Inside, the restaurant is gorgeous--bright, clean, and stylish without trying too hard. I took a family member, who is often quite difficult to impress, to Pur & Simple and by the end of our meal she had nothing but great things to say. The restaurant is bright and has tasteful yet inviting decor. When we entered we were greeted by a friendly staff member who advised us he would be our server for the lunch. He promptly took our drink orders (which included a latte "bowl"), and left us with the menus. The menu options for a brunch place are quite varied and numerous. In the end, I decided on the smash burger with a side of the breakfast poutine. My other family member ordered the "Big Three". When our orders arrived we were shocked at the size of the "Big Three". The portion size was massive and is definitely a good option to share with even 3 people. The smash burger was better than I anticipated. It was juicy, fresh, and very filling. Sadly, I was looking forward to trying what I thought would be a smaller version of the breakfast poutine as described on the menu. However, when I got the poutine it did not contain the bacon, ham and sausage mix, or the egg. Despite only having cheese curds and hollondaise sauce, it was still quite enjoyable. Although I would have preferred to be told the differences in the side dish versus the full dish in advance. Both myself and my family member left the venue far too full, knowing we will be back again when we have our next hankering for breakfast grub. I want to like this place. There are many reasons to like what is offered here, like generous portions, fairly tasty food, but a few things... The ambiance is "designed" to be your "local" brunch eatery. If you weren't looking at the details, it would seem like it was. Don't get me wrong, it does feel like something from an episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" where some poorly functioning restaurant is brought back to life. The decor is.. too perfect.. too branded... too manufactured. To be fair, it does work... I mean the bottles of syrup on the table has their logo etched... which I have words about later. So the let's get with the food. The food overall was exactly what you would expect. Large omelets, and good portions. Interesting points, a few of us asked for Multi-grain bread (they were out of wheat), and we were basically given a basket, with half a loaf bag of buttered/toasted bread... a loaf style that you get out of a bag, which is perfectly fine, but put on a basket?.. I mean it even looked like it was still in the bag, except placed on a tray. What about the service you ask? At the time of our patronage, the staff looked barely over the age of 18, but they are trying, and so it's good. Overall, if you want a good portioned breakfast... tasty food.. and don't mind the overly perfect decor... then make this place one of your checklist places. read more

We went to the Port Coquitlam location which just opened not long ago and let's just say there's nothing pure or simple on the menu. You can expect some of the craziest pancakes ever here. They have a nice variety of sweet and savoury. We went for the sweet tooth option and chose all sweets. * Reece's buttermilk pancake ($16) ~ sugar overload it was so sweet if you like Reece's then this is for you. The batter was wayy to thick and heavy. It was almost like pound cake consistency. * Waffle & fruits ($15.50) ~ fruits were fresh but again the waffle batter was way too thick. Not a good mixture it was too spongy and dense. * Also got coffee ($3). * 3/10 ~ the batter was too thick and dense it was too sweet and no good balance. * 5/10 ~ it is pricey for waffles and pancakes total bill before tip: $38.64 * service 0/10 it was terrible. The girl who worked there was so rude. Right when we sat down the waiter comes while we were still trying to sit down and asked what we want to order, we looked at her and asked for a few more minutes as we haven't even had the chance to look at the menu. Afterwards not even 3 minutes later she comes again and ask then when we said we weren't ready she rudely stated "guess I need to come back again". Went here for the first time Saturday morning as it is still relatively new here in Poco and we had yet to try it. Walking in my spouse and I thought wow, this looks really nice! And the menu for breakfast looked really good with options that looked great! And the service was really good too. I ordered the Chicago eggs Benedict and my spouse a sweet and salty crepe. And this is where things took the turn for the worst, the only thing warm on my plate were the poached eggs, but wife's crepe was Luke warm at best. The much hyped P&S potatoes were cold and not flavourful. My thinking is they have an assembly line in the kitchen with tubs of scrambled eggs, chopped bacon, the potatoes etc that they just scoop from to assemble the menu items, so, maybe if you order fried or poached eggs those get made fresh and hot, anything else is cold because it's just scooped from a vat of pre-made bulk eggs, bacon, potatoes etc. So, no way we will be back, but I two starred this review because the server we had was super. I've been to this location for breakfast on 2 occasions, Loved it . my wife loves their chocolate chip pancakes, so I have had take out on 2 occasions as well. my bad, before leaving the restaurant I didn't look to see if they had given us syrup for the pancakes. Now in Burnaby I discovered they indeed had not given us any syrup. I know it seems abit petty but come on ,when your paying $15 for two mid sized pancakes, let's include a 25 cent container of syrup. I phoned the restaurant talked to the manager , she said they had a lot of new staff, and unless you ask...you don't get syrup. I suggested that maybe...her staff should ask...would you like syrup? I'am not going to say..oh I'll never go there again or..their terrible! I just want them to review the procedures they take so someone else doesn't end up with dry pancakes. I read more

Ok. I had high hopes for this place when it opened -- the menu looks fantastic! The corporate chefs put together an amazing array of ALL the breakfast favourites with trendy variations. I think where it falls down is on the franchise end. It's the service. Some locations are probably quite good but I've given this location the prerequisite 3 visits for a proper review and have never once been served hot food. The staff are nice enough. Quite nice actually and I've always left a tip so perhaps it's the system? Its always been a Bit on the slow side as well which makes me think the staff leave dishes in the pass window far too long (are there no heat lamps?). But eBen the "hot" beverages are, how shall I call it... under temperatured. I'd recommended it if they could just solve this problem but for now, if your looking for a hot breakfast, this is not the place. read more

First visit and probably the last to this restaurant. First impression, welcoming servers, and bigger than expected restaurant. The menu is varied,prices on the high side for a breakfast. We were seated quickly given our menus and coffee. When our food came, within a minute, I was disappointed with my crepe. The inside portion was cool, and then my husband said his eggs beni with the sauce were cold as well. We tried to eat, but it was just too cold, and we told our server. He sent for the manager. She offered to replace both our orders, and said it would be quick. We accepted her offer, however when the new dishes were brought, the same outcome! Even if the sauce on the eggs beni was hot it would have at least warmed the eggs. While we were waiting for the replacement order we were never offered a coffee refill. The waiter fetched the manager again and we were offered something else but we decided to move on and left and ended up at A and W around the corner for breakfast. Not what we were in the mood for, but it was hot. We are seniors and eat out a lot. This is the 1st time ever that we have had problems with both our meals and sent them back twice. Looking at the menu on line we were hoping for a nice brunch on a beautiful sunny fall day. My mom, my aunt, and I came in from California and we were visiting my other aunt, who lives in Coquitlam, for the past 10 days. All four of us agreed that the meal we ate at Pur & Simple was by far the best meal we had during our entire stay! The place is clean with high quality food and ample parking. We went in for brunch and started with the fresh-squeezed orange juice, which was absolutely DIVINE, and my mom had a vanilla oat milk latte that was also delicious. My Aunts each had a Veggie Omelette that blew their minds- one of them subbed the goat cheese for swiss, and the guacamole was spread like a layer on the inside of the omelette... rave reviews. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly crispy too. My mom opted for the Garden Fresh Skillet, subbing the goat cheese with swiss, and she loved it. I wasn't in an egg mood so I got a mango smoothie bowl, and I added spinach to it for some greens! I didn't realize the smoothies were all made with yogurt until after I placed our order though, and I'm lactose-intolerant, but our server Shawn was very nice about it and was able to sub oat milk instead of the yogurt for me. We ended the meal with the Carole's Cinna-Cakes Pancakes which were INSANE. No syrup needed; they were perfectly delicious and fluffy with the right amount of sweetness all on their own. Our server was very accommodating with all our changes and honestly, it's the server who made our meal fantastic. He was friendly, warm, and respectful (my aunts don't speak much English, and he was very patient with us as we decided what to order). Shoutout to Shawn! He was the best. Sunday July 18 Went for food with my wife and daughter at 12:30 pm my daughter went in before us and there was a 40 minute wait, to be expected. got a text after 30 minutes and we were seated at 1:00 pm, the waitress took our drink order and our food order. After 25 minutes we got our water and a orang juice!, at this point I noticed no one had food on the tables and the only food leaving the kitchen was for skip and other delivery services. Our server was completely ignoring us, we had no water refills. At the 30 minute mark we were contemplating just leaving but our daughter wanted to wait, after 45-50 minutes my wife went up to the front desk where there were two employees that bolted when they saw her coming (wtf)! My wife stood there for 2-3 minutes and surprise surprise..... food started coming out of the kitchen, we were the fist table to get our food and the egg on top of my order was oozing off the top of my food, she actually put the plate in my hand ... my daughter said "your egg!" so i turned to the waitress and said " can you have this cooked please!". as I was waiting for my food I asked my daughter how her food was and she looked down at her food with disgust, my wife also wasn't happy with her food. I finally got my food and got the exact same plate back with the same egg on top, they put it in oven on grill and completely dried out my order! At this point I ate what I could, left a 5 dollar tip and we left hungry with nothing else to talk about for a long time, there's no way I would ever recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I wanted to try this place as the website showed such great looking dishes and such a wide selection. So went there for breakfast with a friend this morning at around 8:00 am. Only about 4 other occupied tables at that time. Great first impression coming in the door. Unfortunately it was apparent that our wait person was inexperienced - first example, she didn't take our menus after we ordered, so when another wait person asked us if we wanted refills on our coffee we asked if she could take the menus which she did. I had noticed that they had a sign on the front door that they were looking for servers. I know alot of restaurants are having a hard time finding any staff, let alone experienced restaurant staff but it is unfortunate when the ones they do get don't seem to know to do the simplest things for the customer like take away the menus. I ordered the poutine with an over easy egg and my friend had the french toast crisp. When I got my order it looked excellent, egg cooked the way I asked it to be but when I dug into it the hashbrowns underneath were not hot, actually going cold like they made the hashbrowns and put everything on them then let them sit while they cooked the egg. The hollandaise sauce was very bland, although the bacon and sausage did perk it up a bit. Overall though the taste was nothing to write home about. And given the price, that is not good. My friend's french toast was chewy and it looked just like bread, and tasted like that. I think they actually forgot to dip it in egg. We were debating whether we should say anything if and when the wait person came back to ask us how our meals were, but she never did come and ask us. Not even after she came over to remove our plates and saw that we had only eaten half of our meals. I had thought this was a one off specialty restaurant but I see that it is a franchise and in reading through some of the other reviews I noted that the owner mentioned that they were going to talk to the supplier of their batter so I suspect alot of the food is not made from scratch. The presentation of the food looks great but the flavour is pretty ho hum and in my friend's case I think they missed a step in making her french toast.
