    Famous Bavaria Goulash Soup
    Andrew W.

A classic in Abbotsford! The long time family owned & operated European / German Restaurant has been in the community for over 40 years & it's now run by the second generation of the same family! Must try items : Their famous "BAVARIA GOULASH SOUP" if you feel you haven't had enough you can also bring some home as they do sell them by the litres..thats how good they are!! Appetizers are also a great way to savour different items when visiting as a group, if they have Lamb lollipops order them!! Fresh oysters are seasonal..just ask the server! I also love their Schnitzel dishes, and other German inspired items..as I find German cuisine being more and more hard to find in Vancouver nowadays! Ambience is cool & inviting, and they do have some tables that offers more intimate lightings!! Service is always warm & friendly, a few free parking spots are available within the Restaurant complex, but it is not hard to find free street parking nearby!

The service is fantastic, the food is always amazing! You want steak?! Here's the place! Seafood? You got it!!! And you always get a complimentary bowl of very tasty goulash. It's cozy and not too loud. We've been SEVERAL times and have never been disappointed. Will continue to be our fave place!

12 oz prime rib med rare with garlic mash

My wife & I went for dinner after making reservations, we were seated quickly, then had a bit of a wait to order anything. I had a mango mojito my wife have a limoncello gin fizz to drink, they were delicious, The appys we ordered were the garlic prawns And the lobster bake they were very delayed in showing up almost 30 mins after they were ordered. We think the garlic prawns could have been a bit bigger for the price as they were good but the portion was quite small. The lobster bake was not really enough lobster but very tasty. Overall they were both very yummy but the size was just a bit small. For our mains we had 12 oz prime rib with garlic mash and jus My wife had the filet mignon with seafood risotto Both came with seasonal veggies The steaks were perfectly cooked the prime rib melted in your mouth. The garlic mash was ok. The jus was very salty and tasted like it wasn't house made but did what was needed. The filet was beautifully cooked, the seafood risotto was fantastic, seasoned well pumped full of sea food and topped with prawns. The service was quite good even though our server was quite busy she was attentive enough to have an enjoyable evening, and other then the speed of the appetizers all was in good time. We will happily be back. Thanks for delicious steaks

Dinner was fine. I ordered the steak and shrimp with Caesar salad and veggies. The Caesar salad was packed with cheese just now I like. Steak and shrimp were delicious. Veggies were bland and I didn't touch them lol. Usually I love veggies but to be honest I was so full. My husband had the lobster bake schnitzel and he said it was very salty.. but I had some tastes and it was good. The service was good! I'd come back.

Best restaurant I've been to in a long time. Hands down. Hard working owner operators that pour their heart and souls into this business. Above average food. Great ambiance. Great staff. Owner Nina is glad you came. Wow these people work hard. If you are in Abbotsford. Come on by. Everything is good. Fun place. Very affordable price. A real hidden gem. They have been around for 40 years. They didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

    Great decor!

Consistency I have been coming here randomly about six times since they opened, and that consistency is impressive. Portions are steady, service feels genuine, and every dish arriving at the table shows care. Nothing pretentious, just honest food that makes you smile and feel comfortable. Creativity, done right There is a clear respect for classic dishes, and that is not easy to pull off. The kitchen hits the right notes without overcomplicating things. The cioppino stood out in particular, a humble yet elegant seafood broth I have only ever tried in San Francisco, the birthplace of the dish. The resemblance was remarkable, and the quality of the ingredients was outstanding. I felt the same attention in the chowder and even in the cocktails, where every spice and component seems thoughtfully chosen to deliver a specific experience. Care and attention to detail This one is easy to notice. The owner is present, engaged, and clearly invested. You can tell when someone genuinely cares and takes pride in what they are doing, without big fuss or trying to be something they are not. That care carries through the room, the bar, and the overall atmosphere. Comfortable, polished, and welcoming. Point of improvement One small area where the experience could be elevated even further is service etiquette. Simple refinements, such as how drinks are poured or placed on the table, could enhance the customer experience and better match the level of care coming from the kitchen. These are small, easy-to-train details, but they make a noticeable difference. Overall, this is a hidden gem in Abbotsford that deserves to be discovered. A place that earns your trust quietly and keeps you coming back for all the right reasons.

The food is fine, as it should be at this price point, but not really worth going out your way for either, given the price. The other restaurant has has a rotation of seasonal dishes that tend to be very good. I wouldn't make the trip down here from Vancouver for the first restaurant, but I would for the second. I'm oversimplifying here since, if you get one of the standard dishes here, like the ribs, the ribs will be fine and they'll come with a selection of seasonable vegetables that are likely to be very good. But, why not just skip the fine ribs and order the dishes that are really outstanding here? BTW, if you care about covid safety, this place isn't great. The "outdoor" area is fully enclosed and not really different from being inside.

We arrived in time for our reservation, and the dining area looked nice enough. We were immediately seated, but unfortunately, it was a by a very large party, so we found it difficult to talk to each most of the night. We tried the following: - Pacific Octopus: OK. The octopus was a bit chewy, which means it was probably overcooked. I found the addition of the lamb merguez, although tasted fine, a bit confusing. I felt the dish had too many ingredients, and it muddled the flavours. - Beef Tagliatelle: OK. Well cooked, but didn't really like the five spice or the sweetness of the dish. - Smoke Pork Chop: OK. The pork was a bit overcooked, and the jus was far too salty. Service was satisfactory. We had no issues. Overall, it wasn't great. Maybe my expectations were too high. I often find hidden gems during my travels, and was hoping this would be one of them, but it wasn't. I appreciate the effort in designing their dishes, but I generally felt they were too complicated and too salty overall.

My wife had the teriyaki chicken bowl, which tasted good, but she wished she had another order of the sushi. I had the miso king salmon *really* hit the spot for me, and it was not overcooked a bit.
