As many homeowners this rainy LA winter felt, my mother and I were really unsure of how to go about picking a roofing company to work with after our roof leaked. Its hard to know who to trust, and we haven't had the best experiences with every contractor or company we've hired in the past. But from the first interaction with rescue roofing, we felt at ease and confident with the quality of their service. The person we called on the phone was kind and able to quickly send someone out to assess our roof situation. The person they sent, John, was SO patient in explaining the process of working with them, their qualifications/license/insurance/bond, and made sure to answer all of our questions; he was even able to find us some options that worked with our budget which we really appreciate. John was the foreman in charge of managing our house's repairs, and I simply cannot state how great of a service he provided. John was communicative, responsive, on-time, kind, and professional.. He was even great with our dog. John got the job done well and kept us updated along the way. The crew John brought was great, they worked really hard and got the job done in a timely manner. Ultimately, the job got done and we are very pleased with how it turned out. This operation is out to take advantage of people. Eric B quoted me a ridiculous price for a small repair on a roof I had installed literally 4 years ago. There was a small mistake that needed to be corrected but the roof has been sound for the years it's been in. Instead he said the entire roof should be replaced with the astronomical cost of $11K plus. The original roof was installed at a cost of $1,000 about four years ago. Very small area to be roofed on a garage. My attorney then got involved and tried to obtain the actual owner of the company, Rescue Roofer, but that information was never provided. Eric provided a price that was based on the real estate prices of the homes in the neighborhood, rather than providing a reasonable, accurate price. He was attempting to rip us off. Again, this is not a review on work performed. This is a review on dishonest, predatory, price-gauging. I would stay clear. I was familiar with R.R. through their ads. When I needed a quote on a new roof, I scheduled an inspection. Eddie came by, we went up on the roof and he explained the state of the roof and the options available to replace it. We chose the materials (high quality), the color and worked out the financial details. After demolition (removal of shingles) was done, we discovered that the wood planks weren't in the best condition, old and too much space between the boards (house is over a hundred years old). I opted for OSB plywood to be installed over the planks, giving it a a sturdier foundation for the the shingles to be placed on . It's not an extra expense I wanted to make but one that was needed. The final result looks great. They did an awesome job! Just in time for the winter storms hitting L.A. The job took about 4 weeks from demolition to final inspection. The real work was done in 3-4 days, the rest was just waiting on the city inspectors. Eddie always kept me in the loop during the process. He's friendly and answered any question I had. Advertised roof repair service, and responded very fast that they could not perform the service requested, which is to repair a 1" hole in our roof. I guess they only take on "big" expensive projects. So, after seeing the response from the owner, I realized that they just reply right away to any request to pump up their Yelp metrics on response time, and just deny any small request right away so they get that stat, while cherry picking larger projects that are more profitable. They responded to my request very fast - maybe within 1 minute. They also didn't ask a single question to really determine the scope of the project and accurately calculate the time and costs before denying it, contrary to what the business owner claims. So, its obvious they just have some office person monitoring yelp on their computer all day replying and denying projects in order to keep their stats up. If they had made an honest effort to really examine the project before deciding it wasn't for them, I would not give them a now 2 star review. read more

As with every Yelp review, most people just look for places with only rave reviews. But how useful is that? After awhile, everyone starts to sound the same...and then you get a headache trying to pick between ten different "5 star companies". Instead, I find the best kind of Yelp review is one that is honest and balanced--giving you a real sense of the company so that you can trust it. Right before our recent torrential rains, I had three roof leaks and a really tight budget. I knew bad weather was on its way, so I bit the bullet and dived into the process of fixing them. After having a couple "5 star companies" come and inspect my roof, I realized that a lot of them just want to trick me into replacing the whole thing. They tried to scare me with the threat of termites and rotting wood under the Spanish tiles. Unfortunately, that's like taking your car to the mechanic and having them tell you it's too hard to fix so you might as well buy a new vehicle! It's simply a lazy and profitable solution for them. But what I found refreshing about Rescue Roofing is that that were willing to work with me to find unique solutions to my problems. James was my foreman and he was very high-tech from the start. He video taped the entire roof using drones (instead of risking my Spanish tiles breaking when the other estimators walked on them) and then showed me immediately all the footage. This was better than blindly trusting whatever was told to me by the other companies about the condition of my roof. James also impressed me with his unique engineering skills--he tackled each leak with a cost effective solution. His partner showed me a binder of all their insurance policies which not only covered any potential damage to my property but also any injury to their workers--kudos for being transparent and responsible because the other company did not show me any of this. Because James understood my tight budget and limited goals, he even found creative ways for me to qualify for some company discounts. I felt so secure about the entire plan that I signed with them on the spot. Because a major storm was headed our way, James promised to start work the next day--and amazingly, his men finished everything by mid afternoon! Moreover, like a scientist, James was very meticulous and took before and after photos to really prove how much they repaired. As with any project, there were a couple of unexpected glitches along the way, but James took care of the issues promptly and professionally--including coming back and resealing a leak that didn't completely work for free. At the end of the day, this is why I am giving Rescue Roofing a 5 star rating--they stand behind their work and will not stop until you are completely satisfied. James came out exactly on time and took several looks around and offered his professional advice. We are going to try a different approach at first. I requested an inspection and Sam came out the same day and inspected my roof, checked out my attic space then flew his drone above my roof and showed me all the cracked and misplaced tiles above the leak area, he was respectful enough to not walk on my tile roof and break them, it was honestly a fun learning experience, I had 2 inspections before Rescue came along and both companies tried pushing a full roof replacement when Sam was truthful and explained how it can be fixed by repairing only the damaged section. read more
