This is a highly unprofessional and predatory company, and I cannot impress upon the readers of Yelp strongly enough the importance of looking elsewhere for your roofing needs. I have been doing my due diligence for a roofing project, and through that process, I submitted my information to a roofing calculator website that is evidently a source of potential clients for a plethora of companies. One of these companies is Lawson Roofing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have, for over a month, received text messages and voice mails from them, even after communicating that I had already hired a different company for my project.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The final straw that prompted me to post this review and warning came this evening when I got a random message with no initial identifying information.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I inquired if it was the company I have already hired, it was revealed to be Lawson Roofing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I said "No thank you" to their offer of setting up a call to discuss my project, after which I received a message calling me "very rude."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a fine line between admirable persistence and aggressive harassment to secure a potential job, and Lawson Roofing crossed it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Whoever is in charge of pursuing leads for this company is completely unprofessional and seemingly unqualified to be in a line of work that requires contact with the public. In a field where there are so many competitors offering similar services at similar prices, the one competitive advantage a company should value is how they treat people, whether they be actual clients or prospective clients. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Being told that my response to a completely unprompted text message received on a Sunday night while having dinner with my family is "very rude" is truly a testament to the desperation of a business that is woefully deficient in both customer service and in the character of those they choose to employ and represent them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you have a roofing project in Southern California, you have many, many options. Lawson Roofing should not be one of them.

Got our roof done not too long ago. We went through a handful of roofing companies and decided to go with Lawsons. Loved that they were a local family business. My husband initially met with the project manager, Griff, who was very professional, knowledgeable, polite and easy to talk to. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once I got home, we all sat down and he was able to explain to us the different types of materials, what was needed based on initial look and pretty much the whole process etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] without being bothered with our kids running around and being loud in the other room. They offered a great price and even a military/veterans discount. Job on the roof was done in less than 5 days with a great crew who did an amazing job. Lawsons Roofing is a wonderful company. We definitely made the right choice and can tell the difference in temperature in our home with the new roof as well as the nice look.

I was happy with the work done by Lawsons. They were prompt. At the end of their day the crew cleaned up all trash and debris. A special thanx to Dylan and Gil, very professional and friendly. If you're in search of a roofing company, I do recommend Lawsons.

I'm so grateful I chose Lawsons (AKA IRF Dev. Group) for my roof replacement. Dylan and his crew were truly professional and delivered exactly as promised--no drama, just solid work with reasonable pricing. I was initially worried about licensing, permit, and the tight schedule with a storm in the forecast, but they handled everything smoothly. The entire job was completed in less than four days from demolition to finish. Two thumbs up--I wish I had more to give. Thank you, Dylan!

I just wanted to give Dylan and Gil a quick shoutout with helping us through the processes of beautifully installing our new tile roof. We love our little 1950's house but wanted to modernize the roof. We got several quotes but Dylan came in with a plan and price that fit what we were looking at. It was a complicated project, setting up composition shingles where the new solar install was going to be, then framing it out with the tiles we were using for the rest of the roof, but they were eager to get it done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gil was on site every day and always kept me updated with what the crews were working on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The guys removed our old metal roof, along with the surprise original shake roof underneath that, and then installed all new wooden boards, underlayment and tiles. They also gave us a great deal on replacing the insulation in our attic since the roof was already off. This kept all the old, almost 70 year old insulation, out of the house. Ultimately, we have a new roof on our home forever along with the confidence that it'll stand up for decades to come. Thanks Dylan and Gil!

When my new house needed a new roof I got several quotes. Lawsons came in at the middle price wise and the person who came out and gave me the quote, I believe it was Omid, was very professional, seemed on top of things, and assured me that I would have a project manager (PM) overseeing everything AND assured me that the roof would be complete well within my time frame that I had to have it done for home insurance purposes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In advance of the start date I kept following up with Omid to ensure we would start on time and it felt like pulling teeth- I had to keep inquiring and got kind of vague answers about the status of permits.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally the start date came and there was no PM in sight. I texted him repeatedly and got no response. In fact for the first month of the project there was no PM[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. When I'd try to talk to anyone there working on the roof they would say they aren't in charge. Eventually the PM showed up and said he had been out of town??? Then they came back and said that they had actually mis measured the roof and were 500 square feet off in their estimate. Within a month of them completing the project (much later than they said it would be done), the first rains came and the roof leaked in at least two places causing drywall and other damage. They came out and fixed that. Then it leaked again at an area of the flat roof they had fixed. They swore it was due to a skylight nearby and offered to install a new one at cost. They measured the skylight, ordered it and it was the wrong size. When the person came out to install the right size skylight he remarked that the way they did the small flat roof area was wrong and he wouldn't have done it that way if he was handling the project. The attention to detail on the flashings was awful as can be seen from these pictures. I eventually got Omid and others at the company to fix most of the problems but The whole experience from communication to craftsmanship was absolutely awful. Would not recommend.

Overall: I recommend Lawson's Roofing and am happy with the final product and service. The start of the project was rough and I doubted if 1) we'd finish with them, 2) if I would give them any review above 3 stars. However, Dylan went above and beyond and resolved any issues we faced. His crew was exceptionally nice, thorough, and committed to finishing the project at a high-level (pun intended). My advice: In addition to verifying a contractor's license with the state, if you live in Ventura, ask any company you contract with to show proof of a current business license with the city. Ventura's permit process is different from other cities (more on this under Day 4 below). Other advice is to make sure all variables costs are spelled out in your contract (Example: the 10% wood contingency was outlined for us, but it was unclear how that is measured. Also ask if there is additional costs per layer of existing roof that is removed. More on this under Days 2 and 5). Before Day 1: We got nine quotes and picked Lawson's because they were second to lowest in price, had higher quality material, strong Yelp reviews, and could start within two weeks ( other companies were pushing us out a few months). After we signed the contract, our experience went downhill. The project manager was inconsistent and unclear at times with communication. Day 1: We have a 10-year-old dog and I work from home. I made arrangements to take our dog and work elsewhere during the demo. To prepare I called and left a voicemail and texted our contact twice with no response. We were told the crew would arrive between 8 am - 10 am, and at 9:45 am I received a call from someone else at the stating we were confirmed for the following day. I asked why it was being pushed back and was referred to Dylan (who we hadn't been in contact with up to this point). He apologized for the miscommunication and said there was an issue with the crew's truck, so they were unable to arrive to start the demo until the next day. Day 2: Demo happened. We received a text we would have to pay an additional cost because the crew removed 3-layers instead of 2-layers, like our quote estimated. HOWEVER, our contract never stated there would be an additional charge if additional layers were uncovered. Since we were working off-site due to the noise, we were unable to confirm there were 3-layers. By the time we got home, the crew was finishing up and the materials were cleaned up. Day 3: No work happened. We learned the original shingles materials we selected were out of stock. This felt like a significant change considering the material type was part of the reason we chose Lawson's. Dylan assured us the quality of material that was available was the same as what we'd originally picked (50-year shingle instead of the standard 30-year we were quoted from other companies) but just a different brand. Day 4: Inspection was scheduled. I texted to confirm what time so I could be available and was told it was cancelled by the city. I called the City of Ventura and learned Lawson's did not send copy of their business license, and therefore the city was pausing the project until it was verified. TLDR - I spent the day in calls between Lawson's and the city to resolve the issue. If we could not get on the inspection schedule for the following day (Friday), then the inspection could not happen until Monday. That would mean our bare roof would be exposed for almost a full week. Dylan remained calm and professional throughout the ordeal. While it was being resolved, Dylan sent two guys over to finish the wood repair so the shingles could be installed once inspection passed. Day 5: Dylan informed us that our roof required more than the 10% contingency of wood that was outlined in our contract. This was as a surprise based on what we observed as having been replaced. Inspection happened. Shingle materials were delivered and it did not match what we had discussed on Day 3 (it was the 30-year shingle, not the 50-year). We got on the phone with Dylan and the supplier to discuss. We decided to proceed because we did not want any more delays and the crew began installation. Day 6: The crew came on a Saturday and did the majority of the work. They ended up replacing more wood and Dylan informed us that he was waiving additional costs for wood and the removal of the 3rd layer that was discovered during demo. Given all the back-and-forth he confirmed our total cost would be the original price in our contract. Day 7: day-off Day 8: Project finished in less than four hours. Day 9: Final inspection and approval by the city.

I was referred to Dylan by my wife's cousin. He is very professional and did an amazing job installing our new roof. So far, I have recommended him to 2 of my customers to get a new roof. I am for supporting local businesses and keeping the business in the community. I like to work with one person rather than a big company that you can't get a hold of after the job is complete! Highly recommend!

Their proposal was very competitive, and what really stood out was that Moshe took the time to explain that his bid included services that other roofing companies had excluded from their proposals. There were no surprises, just honest, transparent pricing and excellent value. The team started the project on the exact day they committed to and finished exactly when they promised. Throughout the job, they were professional, organized, and kept the work moving efficiently. What impressed me the most was their willingness to go above and beyond to coordinate with my HVAC contractor. Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. I think that if you meet with a number of roofers, you will agree with me. I highly recommend...

They kept us informed throughout the process and made sure everything went smoothly. The completed roof passed inspection with the City of Monterey Park, and I am extremely pleased with both the workmanship and the overall experience. So Cal Roofing is an excellent company, and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing roofing work.
