I had a great experience working with Lawsons Roofing. From start to finish, the process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. Dylan was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and made sure all my questions were answered throughout the project. The team was reliable, communicated clearly, and did a great job completing the work. I truly appreciate the attention to detail and the quality of service provided. I highly recommend Lawsons Roofing to anyone looking for a trustworthy and professional roofing company. They were upfront about what went wrong and what it'd take to fix it no confusing explanations, no pushing extra work I didn't need. The repair itself was clean and careful- every shingle properly set, no corners cut. When they wrapped up, you'd never have gussed there was damage at all, and they left the yard spotless, too. The price matched what they quoted at the start no surprises later. It's been through a few more storms since, and the roof's held up perfectly every time. read more

Never showed up for the estimate. Never showed, never called. Not legit. Don't use them.

This is a highly unprofessional and predatory company, and I cannot impress upon the readers of Yelp strongly enough the importance of looking elsewhere for your roofing needs. I have been doing my due diligence for a roofing project, and through that process, I submitted my information to a roofing calculator website that is evidently a source of potential clients for a plethora of companies. One of these companies is Lawson Roofing. I have, for over a month, received text messages and voice mails from them, even after communicating that I had already hired a different company for my project. The final straw that prompted me to post this review and warning came this evening when I got a random message with no initial identifying information. When I inquired if it was the company I have already hired, it was revealed to be Lawson Roofing. I said "No thank you" to their offer of setting up a call to discuss my project, after which I received a message calling me "very rude." There is a fine line between admirable persistence and aggressive harassment to secure a potential job, and Lawson Roofing crossed it. Whoever is in charge of pursuing leads for this company is completely unprofessional and seemingly unqualified to be in a line of work that requires contact with the public. In a field where there are so many competitors offering similar services at similar prices, the one competitive advantage a company should value is how they treat people, whether they be actual clients or prospective clients. Being told that my response to a completely unprompted text message received on a Sunday night while having dinner with my family is "very rude" is truly a testament to the desperation of a business that is woefully deficient in both customer service and in the character of those they choose to employ and represent them. If you have a roofing project in Southern California, you have many, many options. Lawson Roofing should not be one of them. read more

Got our roof done not too long ago. We went through a handful of roofing companies and decided to go with Lawsons. Loved that they were a local family business. My husband initially met with the project manager, Griff, who was very professional, knowledgeable, polite and easy to talk to. Once I got home, we all sat down and he was able to explain to us the different types of materials, what was needed based on initial look and pretty much the whole process etc. without being bothered with our kids running around and being loud in the other room. They offered a great price and even a military/veterans discount. Job on the roof was done in less than 5 days with a great crew who did an amazing job. Lawsons Roofing is a wonderful company. We definitely made the right choice and can tell the difference in temperature in our home with the new roof as well as the nice look. read more

My roof leak was worse after they so-called fixed it! Turns out they fixed the wrong location and tried to blame my insurance adjuster!

Awaiting a quote . Loved the young communicative assistant Griff who came out . Respected what I knew I needed and took pix

Great Company! These guys quoted a fair price and were true to their word, (no add ons or surprises). They showed up on time,, stayed on schedule, frame and on a 5600 sq ft reroof with different pitches. and were courteous, kept job site clean, protected my landscape and removed all the little nails and discarded materials. Best of all, their workmanship is top notch! Thank you - I'd hire you guys again in a heartbeat- since this roof will likely outlive me - if you need a reference, please call me or show them this. I was badly in need of a new roof. I had five different companies come out to give estimates. Lawsons Roofing spent the most time explaining my options, walking me through the process, and giving the most comprehensive, all-inclusive quote, which ultimately put them at the most cost-competitive. The work was done professionally, looks great, and passed inspection with no problems. While I shouldn't need another roofing job for another 50 years, if I do, I'd call Lawsons first. read more

After receiving several estimates, it was clear that Dylan was coming from a place of fair and very competitive pricing. We were close to going with another company, then Dylan came in with a quote to install the exact same product for considerably less. With a rain storm predicted, the team worked exceptionally fast, but quality was not sacrificed. Job was completed in just 4 days. And, the next day we had a freak October storm. Lawsons saved the day because no doubt we would have had leaks. On top of that the new roof is beautiful and recalled dolled up our home. read more

I'm so grateful I chose Lawsons (AKA IRF Dev. Group) for my roof replacement. Dylan and his crew were truly professional and delivered exactly as promised--no drama, just solid work with reasonable pricing. I was initially worried about licensing, permit, and the tight schedule with a storm in the forecast, but they handled everything smoothly. The entire job was completed in less than four days from demolition to finish. Two thumbs up--I wish I had more to give. Thank you, Dylan! read more

I just wanted to give Dylan and Gil a quick shoutout with helping us through the processes of beautifully installing our new tile roof. We love our little 1950's house but wanted to modernize the roof. We got several quotes but Dylan came in with a plan and price that fit what we were looking at. It was a complicated project, setting up composition shingles where the new solar install was going to be, then framing it out with the tiles we were using for the rest of the roof, but they were eager to get it done. Gil was on site every day and always kept me updated with what the crews were working on. The guys removed our old metal roof, along with the surprise original shake roof underneath that, and then installed all new wooden boards, underlayment and tiles. They also gave us a great deal on replacing the insulation in our attic since the roof was already off. This kept all the old, almost 70 year old insulation, out of the house. Ultimately, we have a new roof on our home forever along with the confidence that it'll stand up for decades to come. Thanks Dylan and Gil! read more

Dylan, Gil and team put on an overlay for me (roof shingles). Simply put you can trust Lawson Roofing and team to get the job done to your spec. roofing project. Friendly and professional- experienced- back up their work with a warranty- looks great and most importantly... was done efficiently (timely manner) and at a great price. Your satisfaction is important to the owner Dylan- which I greatly appreciated. Have a new roof project? I got a guy: Lawson Roofing. Overall: I recommend Lawson's Roofing and am happy with the final product and service. The start of the project was rough and I doubted if 1) we'd finish with them, 2) if I would give them any review above 3 stars. However, Dylan went above and beyond and resolved any issues we faced. His crew was exceptionally nice, thorough, and committed to finishing the project at a high-level (pun intended). My advice: In addition to verifying a contractor's license with the state, if you live in Ventura, ask any company you contract with to show proof of a current business license with the city. Ventura's permit process is different from other cities (more on this under Day 4 below). Other advice is to make sure all variables costs are spelled out in your contract (Example: the 10% wood contingency was outlined for us, but it was unclear how that is measured. Also ask if there is additional costs per layer of existing roof that is removed. More on this under Days 2 and 5). Before Day 1: We got nine quotes and picked Lawson's because they were second to lowest in price, had higher quality material, strong Yelp reviews, and could start within two weeks ( other companies were pushing us out a few months). After we signed the contract, our experience went downhill. The project manager was inconsistent and unclear at times with communication. Day 1: We have a 10-year-old dog and I work from home. I made arrangements to take our dog and work elsewhere during the demo. To prepare I called and left a voicemail and texted our contact twice with no response. We were told the crew would arrive between 8 am - 10 am, and at 9:45 am I received a call from someone else at the stating we were confirmed for the following day. I asked why it was being pushed back and was referred to Dylan (who we hadn't been in contact with up to this point). He apologized for the miscommunication and said there was an issue with the crew's truck, so they were unable to arrive to start the demo until the next day. Day 2: Demo happened. We received a text we would have to pay an additional cost because the crew removed 3-layers instead of 2-layers, like our quote estimated. HOWEVER, our contract never stated there would be an additional charge if additional layers were uncovered. Since we were working off-site due to the noise, we were unable to confirm there were 3-layers. By the time we got home, the crew was finishing up and the materials were cleaned up. Day 3: No work happened. We learned the original shingles materials we selected were out of stock. This felt like a significant change considering the material type was part of the reason we chose Lawson's. Dylan assured us the quality of material that was available was the same as what we'd originally picked (50-year shingle instead of the standard 30-year we were quoted from other companies) but just a different brand. Day 4: Inspection was scheduled. I texted to confirm what time so I could be available and was told it was cancelled by the city. I called the City of Ventura and learned Lawson's did not send copy of their business license, and therefore the city was pausing the project until it was verified. TLDR - I spent the day in calls between Lawson's and the city to resolve the issue. If we could not get on the inspection schedule for the following day (Friday), then the inspection could not happen until Monday. That would mean our bare roof would be exposed for almost a full week. Dylan remained calm and professional throughout the ordeal. While it was being resolved, Dylan sent two guys over to finish the wood repair so the shingles could be installed once inspection passed. Day 5: Dylan informed us that our roof required more than the 10% contingency of wood that was outlined in our contract. This was as a surprise based on what we observed as having been replaced. Inspection happened. Shingle materials were delivered and it did not match what we had discussed on Day 3 (it was the 30-year shingle, not the 50-year). We got on the phone with Dylan and the supplier to discuss. We decided to proceed because we did not want any more delays and the crew began installation. Day 6: The crew came on a Saturday and did the majority of the work. They ended up replacing more wood and Dylan informed us that he was waiving additional costs for wood and the removal of the 3rd layer that was discovered during demo. Given all the back-and-forth he confirmed our total cost would be the original price in our contract. Day 7: day-off Day 8: Project finished in less than four hours. Day 9: Final inspection and approval by the city. read more

Our experience with Lawson's from the very beginning. We have met with other roofing companies prior to meeting with Dylan. We met with him once and immediately knew we were going with them. Everything he told us verbally where followed up in writing. The price is unbeatable as well for the kind of roof we got. Gil, the project manager, was so easy to work with. Always following up and letting us know next steps. They followed through on the schedule and completed everything within a week (way ahead of schedule). We had a delay in payment because everything happened so fast and Gil worked with us patiently. I highly recommend Lawson! Everyone were great and you won't be able to find a similar price for the amazing quality. read more

When my new house needed a new roof I got several quotes. Lawsons came in at the middle price wise and the person who came out and gave me the quote, I believe it was Omid, was very professional, seemed on top of things, and assured me that I would have a project manager (PM) overseeing everything AND assured me that the roof would be complete well within my time frame that I had to have it done for home insurance purposes. In advance of the start date I kept following up with Omid to ensure we would start on time and it felt like pulling teeth- I had to keep inquiring and got kind of vague answers about the status of permits. Finally the start date came and there was no PM in sight. I texted him repeatedly and got no response. In fact for the first month of the project there was no PM. When I'd try to talk to anyone there working on the roof they would say they aren't in charge. Eventually the PM showed up and said he had been out of town??? Then they came back and said that they had actually mis measured the roof and were 500 square feet off in their estimate. Within a month of them completing the project (much later than they said it would be done), the first rains came and the roof leaked in at least two places causing drywall and other damage. They came out and fixed that. Then it leaked again at an area of the flat roof they had fixed. They swore it was due to a skylight nearby and offered to install a new one at cost. They measured the skylight, ordered it and it was the wrong size. When the person came out to install the right size skylight he remarked that the way they did the small flat roof area was wrong and he wouldn't have done it that way if he was handling the project. The attention to detail on the flashings was awful as can be seen from these pictures. I eventually got Omid and others at the company to fix most of the problems but The whole experience from communication to craftsmanship was absolutely awful. Would not recommend. read more

Lawsons Roofing did an awesome job for us in August & September this year with a fair price. They re-roofed our entire house, guest house and garage. Dylan and Gil are a pleasure to work with. Our roof was 25 years old and damaged by the wind during the January fires. After meeting with 10 different companies (I always do plenty of research) we decided to go with Lawsons Roofing! Dylan came personally to give me the estimate and worked with me every step of the way. The price was fair and they could start ASAP! We started the project not knowing we would be hit with rain that same week, Dylan had his crew here every night, tarping the roof and making sure all the plywood and supplies were safe. Mid project, I decided to switch the insulation in my attic, and Dylan pulled strings to make it happen right away, while my roof was open, making it a much easier process. He made us a priority and he stopped by the work site MUTLIPLE TIMES. On any project site there can be ups and downs, but Dylan made sure I had everything I was promised and More! I also met with Gil a couple of times and he was very accommodating and easy to work with! Our new "cool roof" looks incredible and the fascias look great as well! We passed inspection with ease both times, and we love the warranty they provided us on the roof! I know at anytime if there is a problem with the roof, Dylan will send someone to fix it asap. All in all, I would defintely refer Lawsons Roofing! It's such a big project, and going with a newer/cheaper company that hasn't been in the business long, doesnt give you any security or peace of mind! Call Dylan, he will take the best care of you! read more

First of all, I emailed Lawsons Roofing after getting a quote from them a year ago to see if they would update the quoted price. Dylan emailed me back and said that he'd honor their price from a year ago. Since our work schedule didn't permit us being home for demo he arranged for them to come out on a Saturday for demo and my wife and I picked the new shingle color. Two days later it was inspected and they asked if we'd be ok with them coming out on the 4th of July so they could get started on the new roof, we were ok with that if they were. The guys worked fast and efficient. I have given their info to the realtor across the street from me and referred them to people at church. I'd totally recommend them to anyone needing a new roof. read more

Where do I begin. Having this company come to my house after much deliberation might be an ok decision. I don't know if it was the best but let's see. So I had their rep come and talk me into things. Many promises made and barely any actually done. Eventually it came to the point where I barely heard from him anymore after how many calls. That was quite disappointing. During the process of checking all my wood in the house he even had me take pictures of my attic because they will check it all once they take the roof off and that didn't even happen. I don't know know if they were in a hurry. All I know is my roof was taken off then next thing I knew it was being placed back on. Thankfully Our city is pretty strict because they checked the wood and was telling them to fix them. No one in their department even checked the wood anywhere else! They only fixed the wood that my city told them to fix. I had to argue many times with them. Being told that his person did it yet I am being told by my city inspector something else. It truly was soooo hard to even try to make them understand the issue because he kept insisting that he trusts his people. That's great! That's no issue here but if your people arent doing it then what should you do? Im grateful that so far my roof has withstand the rain that came which is also the reason why I waited to write this review. I hope it can take the years they claim it will be also. I'm just hoping the wood at my home is good since they didn't check it. I'm gonna hope for the best now and wish this business luck. I hope they have better customer service in the future and truly check what they say they will check not just to get a customer you know? Credibility is everything and I come with people who require roofs done eventually too. I just wish I had a better experience after speaking with the first person in the beginning, he even told me that he has spoken to me more than his other customers when I asked why he wasn't answering my phone. I wanted to ask him "isn't that your job tho?haha isn't that what you are getting paid to do? Is to answer all our questions? Aren't you the experts?" Sigh...oh well. read more

I have maybe written 3 reviews in the past 10 years, but I want to extend Kudos to Lawson Roofing and especially Dylan. (I actually called them, didn't get an answer and didn't leave my number. But a nice lady called back and asked if they could do anything for me) I had more than 10 companies come to give me quotes for my roof in Van Nuys. They had a wide variety of prices and explanations for what needed to be done. Many conflicting. Lawson was not the cheapest but they were far from the most expensive. Dylan came with a very thorough and professional explanation of what they could do and detailed the various materials and warranties involved. He also cleared up all of my questions from talking to all of the other companies. I asked and Dylan gave 3 different quotes that varied in price and complexity. After working around rain forecasts, his crew came and took off about 4 layers of old shingles and had the new roof on one day faster than he estimated. It seems and looks great. I was Especially Impressed by the cleanup after taking the old roof off because it was really messy. I was also Very Impressed after looking at some of their not-perfect reviews. Customers initially wrote that things did not go so well, But later wrote that Dylan came and made good on everything as promised. They then gave a great review. I don't expect these projects to go perfectly even though mine did. Lawson stood by their promises and made things right. Dylan also gave me addresses of homes they had done in my area and even gave me addresses where the work was being done so I could go and take a look. Good Service is sometimes hard to find and I found it. I told Dylan that I would welcome being contacted if people want to find out about my roof job. And I could also be available if a prospect might want to come by and look at it. Pete D. in Van Nuys read more

Although there were usual hiccups throughout the project, Dylan and his team were extremely accommodating and went out of his ways to remedy any issue we faced. Lawsons Roofing made an overwhelming full roof replacement a positive experience. Our roof was ~35 years old with wood shake, meaning the demo was more involved than others. Lawsons crew kept our yard clean, covered our pool from debris, and kept to the schedule as promised. Additionally, we discovered that our attic insulation needed replacement, and Dylan helped us get that done in the middle of the project. I interviewed 3 companies before choosing Lawsons. After getting estimates from 6 different highly rated companies on yelp for a new roof I landed with Lawson Roofing for the following reasons. 1) read the negative reviews, they all mention the work was of very high standard but they were nitpicky about trivial things like communication style 2) the positive reviews were really convincing 3) Dylan, the owner, offered to also have some of his guys take care of some interior work I had at a great rate 4) offered to provide me references 5) offered to not charge till project was done and I was satisfied 6) solid 5 year guarantee 7) Reasonable price 8) Family owned (father & son) Dylan and his team took care of everything from the permit to ensuring timing with the rainy season. Overall: I recommend Lawson's Roofing and am happy with the final product and service. This over rating is disregarding the actions of a worker no longer with the company. The job: repair a leak on a 10 yr old roof, original build. Due to area of the leak and access from the attic, it was hard to pinpoint the leak. They initially worked on the wrong part of the roof due to miscommunication. The original tech showed us a diagram on his phone of where he suspected the leak to be, but sent a different diagram highlighting a different area to Dylan's team who organized the work (off by 10 ft). Thankfully, it rained 2 days after that job was complete and we saw the leak was still there. After some back-and-forth, Dylan came out and re-did the entire job, doing everything he could to remedy his former employee's mistakes. He was much more thorough and the new job covered more area to ensure they got the leak while honoring the original quote. Tip: Make sure you get a diagram of where the work is supposed to be done in the formal job quote/proposal. read more
