Republica was delicious! We had carry out and our food was not only great but super fresh. Only disappointment was that one of the things we ordered was not in our bag (but we were charged for it). Due to all of this uncertainty, we didn't call because mistakes can happen, but in the future we will be sure to check to make sure the full order is there. read more

We have been here several times, everything we have ordered on the menu is great. Love the ribs, fish and chips, and sandwiches.

I would NEVER RECOMMEND this place to anybody. Very rude! And the "MANAGER" was the absolute worse manager I've ever seen. I feel so bad for the staff. He was very rude and actually told me to fuck off. There food was not great, but very much overly priced. There drinks TERRIBLE. I Would like to speak with owner and let them know how terrible there serviceis. . read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I've been a regular for years, but the last few months the food has gone really downhill. Some dishes are over salted, old stale fries, but most heartbreaking is the sweet and heat fried chicken. The sweet and heat fried chicken sandwich was always my favorite. The portion of chicken is about a quarter of what it once was, and the price is the same. The sauce is now gross, watery, and smells like urine. idk if they hired a new chef/cooks or what, but the food went from excellent to NASTY read more

My first visit here with a friend. Very small place (1 TV in the corner, 2 bartenders and a waiter working and about 30 people max seating). We sat at the bar. The bartenders were very nice and talkative. I had their special beer on tap ( only 2 beers on tap) but they have a huge selection of beers in cans and bottles. Their food was amazing as well. I had the American Burger which was good. I will say their apps were little bit expensive ($13 for some) however overall their food was great. I would recommend his spot for dinner and drinks. It would be hard to get a big group (5 or more) to eat here due to the size. read more

Easily one of the best burgers I have had in Michigan. And the service is even nicer. Especially during these trying times, they go out of the way to guarantee safety and accuracy. Looking forward to dining in when things are calmer. In the meantime, The All American and The Revolution are tops!!! read more

Came here for a nice date night. We were going to order take out but decided to stay out and eat there instead. The service was amazing. We were seated promptly in the very cute place. It's not very big, but was very cozy. The waiter offered us some tastings of their liquors which was a great choice for drinks. The food was perfect! I had the spicy chicken sandwich and it hit the spot like no other! I was very pleased with the food and the experience. Defintiely coming back here again. read more

This spots kills it every damn time. Oooof. Pre COVID and after they are delish!! Good service, and again, great food.

República has rhe best ribs I have had in a very long time! Great food! Drinks are good and I noticed they have heated seating on their patio right now! read more

This place had very tasty food Perfect portions and love the lighting inside. Every ingredient the chef uses has a purpose. It's a cozy place and pretty busy... only complaint I have is the parking and the size of the restaurant. If you don't mind that small stuff then come try Republica!!! Yummmmmmm I love food! read more

To be fair, I can only rate the service. And I'd give it 0 stars if I could. We walked in and got a table for 4 right away. We were given menus and waters by a lady that was clearly in no mood to be doing that job. My daughter asked what was in her cup and was rudely told water. One word, water. And then she snapped that they don't use plastic cups or straws. Cool, we didn't ask, but cool. 20 minutes later we still hadn't seen her or anyone else at our table again so we left. The menu looked good, but the service was just terrible. read more

An underrated gem in Berkley. I love their drinks and the roasted cauliflower, and basically every sandwich and every other entree available. They have a dog-friendly patio during the warmer months, which turned out to be a great way to get our young dog a little more socialized. We've now been there with him multiple times! read more

Fantastic food. Horrible service. Came here for after work dinner and drinks. The tomato and fennel soup with grilled cheese and bacon was absolutely delicious. The soup was very hearty (you could eat it with a fork) and good. My blue crush drink was well crafted and strong albeit somewhat small and expensive. Our server wasn't great which equates to very long waits, no checkins to see how the food was and whether we needed anything else, no opportunities to order dessert. And given how small the restaurant is, it's not like she couldn't see us or was any busier than the other two servers who appeared to be more attentive. My two colleagues won't be back and I might. read more

Cozy, terrific place for a high- end casual dinner. Surpassed expectations. Delicious tomato soup, served hot with a fresh crouton and a tiny touch of heat. Full of flavor. Had the meatloaf dinner, accompanied by mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Best meatloaf I've ever had. This chef knows their way around a kitchen! Great service, too. Recommend! read more

I had griiled cheese and tomato-fennel soup. The sandwich was good, the soup was amazing, never had anything like it. My wife had the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich, goood flavors. We upgraded her fries to the plato's potatoes which were good but not exceptional. We had the roasted cauliflower, good but could have used some seasoning. Service was very good. read more

The place is tiny, but the food is great. The roasted cauliflower was the best thing I've had. If you go, you have to order it. The grilled cheese and tomato soup is really good too. Highly recommendthis place. read more

Very rude sevice by the waiter. U myself worked at bigger restaurants and the key to success for any business is custie r care and professionalism. Woth the level of unprofessional service by the waiter I highly recommend not to go to this place u less you want to spoil your mood. 0 stars for this place! read more

Ever since they opened, I've been making it a point to stop in whenever I'm back in Michigan. The owners and staff make you instantly feel like family. I'm pretty sure they were one of the first restaurants in this area to put cauliflower on the menu and they have definitely perfected it. The pita bread appetizer is probably the MOST addictive substance on the planet (I recommend asking for a side of the spicy feta sauce). The Revolution burger was perfectly prepared and as delicious as any I've had. The beer selection is more than adequate. The ambience is eclectic, yet perfectly sets the mood for the food which follows. I would give it 10 stars, but I can't. If you take nothing away from this review, know that I would travel back from Los Angeles JUST for Republica. read more

Creative menu. Good craft beer. Hamburgers are very good. The fish tacos are amazing!

I've been to Republica a few times now and the food has been consistently good. This last time, the place was really crowded and seating took a while despite a few seemingly-open tables. The place has nice atmosphere and a good menu - not pretentious and pretty much something for everyone. The questionnaire asked if it was good for dates. I'd say yes, but it's definitely not an intimate setting and the background noise in the large open room of the restaurant is a little off-putting if you're trying to make conversation or have a hard time filtering out background sounds. Other than that, though, it seems a good place to hang out and the drinks have been reasonably well-made at every visit. The one problem I had this time around was the slowness of the service. Although there were several other dedicated waitstaff working other tables and outside, our table was covered by the woman working at the bar and also as the hostess. I'm guessing they maybe had someone call in because it seemed slightly off on a Friday night with a full house. It took a while to get seated and between trips by our waitress to order and to get checked on. All I can say is that if you're coming here, maybe don't be in a hurry. I had a regular burger last time and a vegetarian sandwich this time - both were good, as were the drinks. The pricing remains fair for the food you get. I think the side of beans were a little on the bland side, but nothing that some salt and pepper couldn't take care off. I would go back again, and really only am rating this four stars instead of five because of the slow service. read more

I was excited when I heard Republica was going into the old BBC. I took a look at their menu online and realized that this probably wasn't going to be a place my 2.5 year old would want to eat at, so we'd have to make this a date night. We started with the flower roast - which is literally an entire head of cauliflower and it was delicious, it came with some sort of garlic spread that was fantastic. My husband got the chicken chili, which was also very good. For our entrees I got the chopped salad and husband got the 1/2 rack of ribs and we shared. Holy smokes both were delicious. We ordered too much food but it was all so good. We sat at the bar (which is not all that fun when there is no booze yet - October 4 there will be!) and got to experience more of the staff than had we sat at a table. Everyone was really nice and one of the cooks brought out our food and he seemed to really care that we were enjoying everything. I can't wait to come back when they have their liquor license. read more

Everything we ordered was good, but nothing special that you can't get at other restaurants. I wouldn't complain about going here, but also wouldn't go out of my way to go back. 3 stars. read more

I saw a reviewer had a similar experience with a waitress that I did, which was an attitude about not having straws, As she dropped off the water, I simply just asked if they had any straws and she said no attitudinally and had a mild attitude after that. Service was also quite slow for a mostly empty place that may be had 12-15 people total. The calamari tacos were ok, very basic and the calamari was salty. Overall, I'm not returning to this place and neither is my friend. read more

The food was really creative - and so excited to have so many gluten free and vegan options. But there were a lot of service issues. Note that I went before they got their liquor license, so I still consider our experience to be during the soft launch. 1) booking waiters to serve inhouse and out on the patio seemed to cause a lot of visable strain on the waitstaff. They looked - and responded to customers - as stressed, harried and were constantly apologizing. Perhaps assign one or two waiters to the patio and the rest in house. ALso - a better bussing system outside would help. our waitress was carrying around a bottle of mustard most of the night (while avoiding our table!) 2) our appetizers came out minutes before the meal. The waiters did not offer to clear the table. Tells me that either our apps took too long to make, the waitstaff forgot about them or there's an issue in timing. appetizers also came out cold - so we could tell they were sitting. Our mains came out cold as well. 3)Our waitress also did not refill water, get us condiments, etc. I had to get up and find them. My husband tried calling down the waitress multiple times. I finally grabbed the hostess to help us get our bill. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, chili (good), BBQ ribs (good) and Lamb burger (SOOOOO GOOD!!!) ...but the yaya beans on the side of the lamb burger - they were loose and the sauce got all over everything. they really needed to be in a bowl. it saturated my bun and made the burger soggy. The execution of the yaya beans was good -but the side did not complement the burger... they would be great as an app with toast points - not with the burger. will switch out for fries next time I really want Republica to succeed. clearly there are some service issues which will hopefully go away once the team gets more established. Looking forward to trying it again and *hopefully* updating my review. read more

Went here on a Wednesday night with my fiancé. The space is interesting. It's not very warm, but it's not bad either. They tried to make it feel unique although the space is pretty small. Service was good, we were well taken care of. We started off with the flower roast app (roasted cauliflower). It came out cold and in less than 3 min (never a good sign). It was clearly made hours ago and waiting for its chance to be eaten. This is unfortunate since the flavor was quite good. This is my biggest gripe with smaller places- for pete's sake, stick it in the microwave at least! For an entree, we split 'the revolution'- a massive burger with bacon, fried egg, arugula, Gouda, onion ring and sriracha mayo. I must say, this was very good. We compared it to the vinsetta garage 3AM burger and this was darn close as far as taste. It was slight pricy at $14, and for that money- I prefer vinsetta. Also the 'hand cut' fries were nothing to write home about- just so so. Would I come back? Maybe. But for the price and atmosphere, I'll take vinsetta 9 out of 10 times. read more

Being in the Berkley area, we were super excited for another walk to place with better than take-out type food. The menu has a lot of promise, the owner/chef is really excited about what he does, and it that is what keeps us trying it again...but only out of convenience...not a set out decision for dinner. I agree with the reviews that Vinsetta Garage has similar tastes, with more options, and a cheaper menu. I hope this restaurant gets it together, because the menu is really smart, but the execution requires some work, and the prices need to come down at least 20%. read more

It's about time I tried Republica, and I'm glad I did. It's odd that they don't open until noon, but that worked for out for my group. The food was delicious, fresh, top quality and creative. The burger I had was a Revolution in my mouth. The burger itself was delicious, but add some great bacon, smoked Gouda, arugula, an egg and Sirachannaise (and I don't like mayo), and this burger was outstanding. The other highlight was the ribs. Just like we used to have at Mitch's out by Orchard Lake, the meat fell off the bone and the sauce still makes us drool. The only thing they are missing are Mitch's breadsticks. Couldn't be happier that Republica is in Berkley! read more

this place was fine but really unremarkable. my friend and i came here when we found out there was an hour wait at vinsetta garage. the place was empty, which was nice because i was starving. we started we the lobster grits, which were buttery and okay. not as chunky as i wanted it to be, but that's understandable. my friend got the burger, which she thought was a little overcooked and also thought it was a normal burger, probably not one you have to go into a nice-looking restaurant for. i had a sandwich with both bacon and duck on it. it was way too salty and the duck was dry. i also got it on white bread instead of weird bread and they charged me a dollar for the substitution. that's fine i guess, but just so you know. and the fries were soggy. i don't think this place is terrible or anything but it wasn't as good as it sounded. there's a lot of other stuff on the menu that sounded really good though so maybe we just didn't order the good stuff. the service was great though. our server was super nice and attentive and answered our questions. read more

This was actually my third visit to this place! When a good restaurant opens near my house I really capitalize (note to good restaurants thinking about opening near me...). I have not had to wait for a table yet which is great. On this occasion I got the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup combo meal. It is my second time getting it and I highly recommend. I normally don't order grilled cheese at restaurants because..c'mon I can make that at home.. But this one is great- they put bacon in it and something sweet too, I want to say some sort of compote (still not clear what compotes are but it feel right) and it is on delish focaccia. The soup it is with is a tomato fennel and I nice alternative to your traditional tomato bisque or tomato basil. This soup has a ton of texture and flavor and is served in a mug with a garlic crouton. My sister got the kale caesar which was good as well. They give you a ton of greens and it could be a whole meal if you are cool with your whole meal being a plate of kale. I have always had good service there and think it is a great neighborhood joint. They have some nice happy hour specials too, half off appetizers from 4-6 I believe. read more

Went here one night for dinner & split a few plates with my fiancée. We had: Lamb burger-very good. The burger had a great lamb taste & the sauce was a great compliment Cauliflower app-ok. For $10 we got a ginormous roasted cauliflower with a garlic side. It was good to try once but prob won't get it again Lobster grits- ok. This was the first time I had grits & it was pretty tastey. There were lobster chunks topping the grits but the lobster didn't add much flavor Cocktails-eh. Ok but expensive for what they were. Didn't knock my socks off The service was great & the lamb burger is a must try. Parking lot on the side was a little small read more

A small place but with great food. The decor is pretty normal with posters and Edison Style lights. But the food, and service is superb. I hade the American Burger, with bacon, and it was done to perfection. It really is a mouth watering burger. The fries were perfectly done as well. Plus, they have a full bar with some unique cocktails. As I said, the service was excellent. You must try Republica. read more

Had a great lunch at Republica. We went in search of food the day after Xmas and were denied at a couple places, as they were closed for the entire holiday weekend. Thankfully, we ended up here. We started with cocktails. I had the blood orange gimlet, supposed to come with basil but they were out. I'll give that to them since they were even open the day after Xmas. My boyfriend had a sizable Bloody Mary, which he seemed to enjoy. Cocktails here are strong, so you won't need more than one unless you are on some kind of mission. I ordered the lamb burger, served with fresh dill, feta cheese, and Greek yogurt spread. It usually comes with beans, but I was able to substitute fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and was super flavorful. I really liked it. Boyfriend had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Sounds simple, but they use delicious, high end ingredients. Also, they put bacon on the grilled cheese sandwich....I mean, bacon. I'd love to come back here and try some of the other entrees like the ribs or fish n' chips. read more

Put Republica on your list of sleeper hits on the Woodward Corridor, and venture in here to celebrate a special event without breaking the bank. I love the concept of Republica and the fact such a quality bar/restaurant is in walking distance pleases me on so may levels. Admittedly from the exterior, you might give it a pass. A small front patio on Coolidge Highway and tight parking adjacent to a Little Caesar's could put off some. Don't be that person. It holds more seats than you might think and the cozy interior features some interesting memorabilia. This is the perfect place to come on a quiet evening, curl up and have a great conversation with friends or saturate in outstanding food. They serve fantastic grub, including fat burgers and chock-a-block salads that combine great seasonal ingredients for lush, maximum effect. The menu isn't extremely long, carefully selected for freshness and seasonal availability of vegetables, fruits, and so on. That said, their small plates are usually static and I can't help but rave about the flower roast. Yes, it may be a bit spendy, but the cauliflower came out so flavourful and crisp that I'd name it the Homewrecker, as invariably we snarl over who gets the last bites. I've yet to be disappointed coming in and putting my faith in the hands of the chef. The wonderful "Buy the chef a drink" option on the menu allows you to buy the chef a drink, just so. You get something custom off the menu in return. This could be a dessert, an appetizer, an addition to your entree. These custom options are absolutely worth it. You can try something you've never had before or a twist on a classic. My beau and I have ended up with crepes filled with handmade pumpkin and brown sugar puree, some exquisite artichokes, and a fluffy pastry confection that's out of this world. The drinks are great here too. Delicious options and lots of local beverages. read more

Delicious!!! Small local restaurant with huge flavor. Went here with a friend last night and was very impressed. We had the tomato fritters to start, I was blown away. I did not expect for them to have so much flavor and the tzatiki sauce was incredible. I had the Republica Chopped salad without chicken and was very impressed with all of the flavor in this salad. As a vegetarian it was great to eat at a establishment that had so many options for me. I will absolutely be coming back here. And the service was awesome!! read more

Nasty salty and greasy and didnt give any cutlery or napkins for carry out.this is all that needs to be said. .............

I FINALLY made it out to Republica, as I have been anxiously awaiting consumption of the Urban Farm since the place opened, nay, before they opened! Chosen as the place where my girlfriends dad takes me for my annual birthday dinner celebration, our group of 4 headed on over. We were fairly promptly seated and greeted. As I was walking to the table, we noticed an occupied table with tons of autographed hockey memorabilia and I was immediately jealous. IT THEN BECAME AVAILABLE! and our waitress had no problems helping us to relocate. Service was very friendly, and I ordered the Farm, and others ordered their respective dishes. It didnt take incredibly long for the food to arrive either, but it wasnt very busy, because its so damn cold. My sandwich was delicious! although I would have liked more of the garlic sauce that came on it. Perhaps the biggest star on the plate was the bean salad that came with it. Simple bean salads can be so phenomenal, and this one was just that! seasoned so well. The unfortunate side effect of a sandwich containing beets is that by time i neared end, the sandwich bottom was slightly soggy, but not from water, from delicious beet juice, so it really only detracted from texture. Food wise, my dish hit about a 4, but my girlfriend in particular RAVED about her BLT pasta dish. She loved it so much, and the others enjoyed their meals as well. The server also noted that one at our table didnt order anything very heavy and omitted her side, and suggested that she get something else to make up for the lack of food on her dish, so a side of asparagus made its way to the table, via the chef. Interacting with him was very awesome, he was very personable and friendly. I also saw him check on other tables as well, so it seems like friendly personable service might be a cornerstone here, which i love! I will definitely return to try a few of the other things that piqued my interest on the menu, but it was a very successful trip! I can only hope I get the memorabilia booth again, because it was awesome to be surrounded by hockey legends whilst I ate, reminding me, at least that small portion of my meal, of the summer in toronto when I ate at Gretzkys. Except the food was better here =) read more

Republica is one of my favorite restaurants in the Ferndale/Berkley/Royal oak area. There is almost never a wait which is amazing, especially on the weekends. I have tried the lamb burger and the ribs/onion ring app. Both were delicious! I have also tried the grilled cheese and tomato soup and I like that the soup has fennel, one of my favorite flavors. They have a great cocktail list and they have good specials on wine during the week. This is a great place for a date or girls night! Service is always great. The chef will even come out during dinner and serve the table or ask how everything is. It seems like everyone really cares about their job and the food they serve. The one downfall to this location is the parking lot. If you have a big car, I would suggest finding street parking. The lot is very narrow and it took us a few minutes to park. read more

Love the Sweet & Heat Chicken Sandwich! The Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup is good too.

Food was good, but service was severely lacking. Our waitress barely acknowledged us, and it was near impossible getting her attention. We tried: - Duck sliders: 3 for $12..these are good but the duck breast portion is really small. - Revolution burger: huuuuuuge burger, tasty and juicy, cooked the way we requested..and I'm a fan of the sriracha mayo. Fries are okay too. - Fish & chips: the tartar sauce has a dill kick to it, which is yummy, but the fish & chips themselves were meh. Republica is a good option if you're in the area and hungry, but I wouldn't come out of my way to eat here. read more
