Came here with a group of friends. As we were a group of 7, we saw that there was no place to sit unless we wanted to sit separately. So we told the waitress that we will wait until a table was available. As we were waiting, another staff comes to us and tells us that there's seating available and to follow him. He leads us to a table that can fit up to 6 people max and says we can sit here or we can all sit separately. We tell him that we would like to sit all together and are fine with waiting. He gives us a look and asks if we're sure about this. We tell him that we are as we see a large party finish eating. After maybe 5 minutes, this large party hasn't budged from their table and are just chatting. We figured that they'll be there for awhile and asked if it's alright to sit at the bar instead. The same server who tried to seat us separately says that we could've done this before and we would've gotten our food by now. The menu selection was large and it took awhile for us to pick a dish. One of our friends ordered the chicken parmigiana, I ordered the risotto, and my husband ordered the eggplant parmigiana. I'm not sure what the other 5 ordered since they were sitting on the other end of the bar. The chicken parm wasn't too bad and the best dish out of the three. It was a huge portion. The eggplant parm was alright, but the risotto was horrible. The rice was hard as it was under cooked and it was just white rice... We told the server that the dish tasted nothing else but rice, he took the plate, and said he'll tell the chef. After a couple minutes, he comes back with the same plate and tells us that the chef forgot to add the sauce. But this here is the risotto. As he hands us the plate, he says that this is what he calls a risotto. Then he stands right in front of us and watches us. We asked if he must watch us as we prefer him not to hover over us while we try the food, but he remained there until we told him what we thought. We tried the risotto and it was terrible. The rice was still under cooked and the risotto was not creamy at all. We can tell that all that the chef did was pour a little bit of the sauce over it. We tell the server that we do not like the dish and our feedback. He tells us that this is how a risotto is and that he's Italian so he knows what a risotto tastes like... and starts to go on and on about how a risotto is made... We then interrupt the server and inform him that we've tried and cooked risotto before, so we know what a risotto tastes like so we can at least eat the eggplant parm in peace. Overall, we didn't have a great experience here. It was nice that they didn't charge us for the risotto, but I don't think we'll be back here any time soon. But for future reference, I think ordering pizza would be better. read more

Remo's has great food, no doubt about that. Love it. Best Italian food in Stamford. But there is an issue with the young lady that answers the phones - she is TERRIBLE. Worst attitude ever and she should not be dealing with customers. I've heard others make the same exact complaint that she is beyond rude and always has an impolite tone. I left this place feeling really undecided, I had varying impressions from the time we step foot into the door from the moment we walked out. Here's what went down. The place was busy at 10:20 pm on a Friday night. They are open til midnight which is great. They were able to accommodate three so we were seated in a booth towards the back of the restaurant. It's an interesting vibe, the counter looks like a typical casual grab a slice and have a seat counter but then it's not like that because there's waiter service an a dining area. Seconds after being sat, a busser came over with bread. No butter just a loaf of bread. There was olive oil on the table but no bread plates. I thought maybe they would pour the olive oil onto a small plate with some seasoning like most italian restaurants do. Here is the rule I just made up in my head. If you are fancy enough NOT to serve butter, you are fancy enough to pour the olive oil for the customers so they know what to dip the bread in. If you're not going to pour the olive oil, then serve some butter. Seconds after the bread was served, our waitress came over and asked if we wanted drinks. We said waters all around please and she gave an eye roll and walked away. Seriously? Turns out I was GOING to order wine when I ordered my meal but what was that about? I didn't know that people had to order beverages other than water when they dined out. The waitress brought our waters over and asked if we were ready to order. We weren't. My Dad said, "No sorry we aren't ready yet, first time here." Then the waitress took off. We were going to ask for a suggestion. Ask what they were known for, maybe get the waitresses name, but no. She didn't give us the time of day and we contemplated bouncing. A moment later a very kind DIFFERENT waitress came over and asked if we were ready to order. Again, we weren't because she had just come over after the last waitress but this woman was so sweet, patient and knowledgable about the dishes. Thank goodness our original waitress decided to bail on us because she was grouchy and shouldn't be in the business quick frankly. We ordered a large Margherita Pizza for an appetizer and it came out lightning fast. It was decent. Not too much flavor, flimsy crust but hit the spot. For entrees we got the Rigatoni Bolognese, Chicken Parm and the Farmhouse Salad which came with apples, pears, gorgonzola, craisins and walnuts. The food came out SOOOO quickly I couldn't believe it. Microwave came to my mind, but I shouldn't be so quick to judge because the food wasn't the best we've ever had but it sure wasn't the worst either. My salad was fine but the house dressing was pretty gross, stick with the balsamic vinegar. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. She saw me analyzing my pear on the salad and immediately came over to see what was wrong. I questioned the brown spots all over and thought it was rotten then she reminded me the fruit was grilled! So just in case you get this salad, the brown spots are from the grill!!! (Most likely.) The bill came to $60. Not horrible for three people. The wine selection was just alright, no liquor. I wouldn't come back here just because it wasn't anything superb. I want to give two stars but I'm giving three only because the new waitress kept us from leaving and because the bussers were excellent. Consistently checking to make sure we had enough water and were quick to clear our plates. ALMOST FORGOT. ADD AVOCADO FOR AN ADDITIONAL........WAIT FOR IT.......$4.95!!!?!?!?! I repeat, add avocado to a salad for $4.95. What earth do we live on? I was kind of appalled. BE CAREFUL if you choose to build your own salad. The toppings add up like crazy. You're better off choosing one of the one's listed and modifying as many ingredients as you can get away with. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Stamford! You can't go wrong with your order as the entire menu is delicious (yes I'm a bit ashamed to say I tried almost all of the food!) Pricing is just right, especially during lunch time. Portion sizes are fantastic. You really get bang for your buck. My top two favorites that I like to order at least once a week is their salad pizza and their country salad with grilled chicken. Simply divine. No other pizza/Italian joint I've been to comes close to Remos. Do yourself a favor and order the salad pie though. Just thinking about it makes me drool. Service is prompt and courteous. They also give you fresh bread and olive oil as an appetizer so that's a place. The atmosphere is always lively and every time I come it's fully packed. There is only one reason I come to Remos and it's not for their Pizza. It's for their delectable Cannolis. Not too grainy and just enough filling for their shells. I recommend getting their plain shell over the chocolate covered ones. The chocolate covered ones are bit too much IMO. If I could, I would eat their filling like ice cream. Remo's is a great spot in Stamford's downtown that has delicious Italian food and beautiful outdoor seating. My part of 7 wanted to eat outside and the Remo's staff was happy to push together tables for us. The canopy and the flower boxes provide a great divider between the tables and the street but still allow plenty of natural light and breeze. The Pasta Ponza was a table favorite and the option to choose your pasta was appreciated (Spaghetti, Rottini, GF, etc). The personal pizzas are gigantic (12 inches) and loaded with toppings. Heard a lot about Remo's so decided to give it a shot. Went in on a Saturday night around 11pm and it was pretty busy for 11pm. Decided to get a small Margherita. They dropped off some bread while the Margherita was being made. Im a bread lover and will usually destroy all the bread, but this bread wasn't that great. It was dry and didn't seem fresh, but then again it was 11pm at night so it was probably sitting around all day. Finally got the pizza and it looked amazing, so I grabbed a slice but the worst thing happened. All the toppings and cheese were pulled off when i pulled on the slice, I hate it when that happens. Also the middle of the pizza was soggy and limp but getting closer to the crust was alright. I ate a few slices and packed the rest togo. Next day i tried it cold, but it wasn't too appetizing so i threw it in the oven to reheat and get the bottom of the pizza nice and crispy so it wasn't limp and soggy and that made it a lot better. All searches led me to Remo's for good pizza in Stamford. Not the best pizza, but at least it was edible. I tried the margherita. The sauce was a major fail, almost bland but with a hint of garlic. The saving grace was the seafood special: mussels, shrimp, scallops, with risotto. The dish was full of flavor. I scraped the plate clean with the freshly baked bread served with our drinks. I experienced Remo's while visiting my friend's brand new place in Stamford. We ordered chicken parm and caprese subs. the bread was amazing and had the perfect crunch, very fresh ingredients. Came here and ordered 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 sausage Napoletana style. The pie tasted great!!! Loved the fresh slices of mozzarella cheese and the sauce was perfect. I'm a fan of thin crust pizza so I didn't mind that the crust was thin. The 12" pizza is big enough for 2 people to share. We got the 16" pie because the two of us thought the 12" would be too small... but we had a few slices left over the next day and after finishing those off, we couldn't look at pizza for another month. We still got a table pretty quickly, but just be forewarned that Remo's is popular. We thought it would be a good idea to each get an individual pizza. Well 3 individual pies are enough food for 4, so we got leftovers! I ordered the New England which came with LOTS of shrimp. Another pie was the sausage and the third was the white pie. On my recent visit I went for a large Pizza with pepperoni, sausage, roasted peppers and broccoli topping. The pizza has a nice thin crust with a tasty tomato sauce. The complementary homemade Italian bread with olive oil is also an added plus. The menu is good though a little expensive. Many people order take out from Remos or simply enjoy a meal at the bar or patio seating outside.
