I recently attended a large family function where they ordered several Riko's pizzas. The pizzas are very thin and crispy. I understand that this style of pizza is sometimes called "Tavern". Hot Oil is a popular variety of Tavern style at least in Fairfield County. There are at least two different ways to approach scoring a pizza place making a style like Tavern. You can compare it to all pizzas of all types, or you can compare it to other places specializing in Tavern Style. Tavern Style is low on my list of pizza styles and I would rarely choose that style if I had many options. Accordingly, I would give Riko's no more than 3 Stars if I rate it as pizza in general. However, there is an art to Tavern Style that some people love. Therefore, I'm going to score Riko's as a Tavern Style Pizza Place. I tried a few different types. My fav was the bacon and onion, and that's the one I would order if I return to Riko's. In any event, the crust and sauce were faithful to the Tavern Style. I would say Riko's is maybe a step down from another Tavern Style pizza place I visited this year in terms of flavors and appearance. Therefore, I'm giving Riko's 4 Stars.

Riko's pizza was already a 5 out of 5 for me but today the team went above and beyond. After an Uber Eats driver stole our order, and Uber was unwilling to help, Riko's manager stepped in and remade our order and had it delivered to us. Thank you, Riko's!

Food - Hot Oil Pizza with Mushrooms: (10/10) This was hands down the best bar-style pizza we have ever had!!! The pizza was so crispy and fresh, and the hot oil was amazing as well. There wasn't too much cheese either, which some other places make the mistake of adding. Additionally, the crust didn't get gross/chewy/soggy after 30+ minutes. - Meat Lover's Pizza: (10/10) This pizza was incredible! The salty meat, oil from the pizza, and chili flakes complimented each other very well and made for one of the best pizzas ever. The Italian sausage was flavorful and they topped the pizza with entire strips of bacon, not just bacon bits. Service: (9/10) This is a classic, towny pizza shop and everyone inside was very friendly. Atmosphere: (8/10) We ordered our pizzas to-go, since it was during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there were people sitting inside the restaurant and outside in the patio area. The patio area looked new and had a few tables.

Fast delivery, good pizza. Can be a bit crowded for pickup. A bit nosy and chaotic for in-restaurant dining.

The low light ambiance and music was definitely giving adults-only vibes. What I really liked was being able to talk and hear because the volume level of the music was just right. Our waiter was attentive and would check-in on us from time to time, ensuring our experience was the best. He had quite a friendly and genuine demeanor about him (sorry, I don't remember his name but he wore glasses and had dark hair). The margarita pizza, wine, and desserts (didn't have lava cake so I tried their chocolate mousse) were delightful to indulge. We also received a complimentary drink of choice on the house just because! I will definitely be coming back again and hope to bring other colleagues along for the Quartiere experience.

We started with some mocktails that were very good and the apple & pear salad that was also good. Our waitress also brought us some complimentary bread and herb butter. All good. But when my entree came it was so disappointing. I ordered the hanger steak cook medium. It was cooked to temp but had to be the chewiest steak Ive ever had. The steak knife wouldnt even cut through it. The knife basically ripped the steak apart. It also came with the largest broccolini I have ever seen. It was basically broccoli but ultimately was under cooked for how large the stalks were. I did try the desserts but they looked good.

White Clam Pizza -- A Must-Try Legend Many reviews…read moreconsistently rave that Frank Pepe's clam pie lives up to its reputation. The white clam pizza delivers a punch of clams, garlic, and cheese on that signature thin, char-charred New Haven-style crust -- garlicky, salty, and utterly memorable. It's the pie people seek out when they make a pilgrimage to Frank Pepe's, and some say it's the best pizza they've had in years. The clams are generous and fresh-tasting, the crust is crisp yet chewy, and every bite feels like a perfect balance of sea and oven fire. For seafood lovers and adventurous eaters, this is the pie to order -- bold, classic, and worth the hype. Margherita Pizza -- Simple, Fresh, and my son loved it. While the clam pizza steals a lot of the spotlight, the margherita and original tomato pies are also beloved. The margherita is beautifully simple: ripe tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil with that same irresistible coal-oven char on the crust. It's not as brash as the clam pie, but it's an excellent showcase of quality ingredients done right. Red-sauce traditionalists especially appreciate how Pepe's tomato-forward pies complement the zingier clam slice, making them great to share with a group

The pizzas that I had in those locations have always been consistently excellent! BUT this Stamford location has never produced a good pizza for me. The tomato sauce is always very tart/bitter and the cook on the pie is not the same. I have never had a tasty pie at this location. Management definitely needs to do some Quality Control at this location!

We also had a house salad with onions, tomatoes, raw mushrooms, olives, shaved parm, and a ton of vinaigrette. For our table of 6, we shared the tomato sauce pie, New Haven original clam, and the garden special. The garden special was my favorite bite that day because of the mushrooms, peppers, onions, and broccolini. The original clam pizza was also good, and I tried it after reading some Yelp reviews, but next time, I'll know to order the garden special and try another specialty flavor. My friend recommended trying their locally made soda, so I got a Foxon Park cream soda. There are a few other flavors. Overall, a very pleasant lunch experience with excellent service!

The staff did offer us free appetizers to make up for the wait, however, and they were delicious--meatballs with red sauce (with red pepper flakes, just in case spice isn't your thing) and whipped ricotta. I ordered the white clam pie and it was very good (and enough fresh chopped garlic to keep the vampires away all night-lol).
