We chose Chicagoland garage builders after getting estimates from two other well-known Chicago…read moregarage builders. Their prices were very competitive and we enjoyed working with our sales rep. This was a vast undertaking, as we had to deal with zoning variations for the exact garage that we wanted done to our specs. It definitely lengthened the process, and at times we felt like we were left on our own a bit too much. But in the end when the work began... From demolition to concrete pouring and eventual garage construction... These guys did an amazing job. We are extremely happy to finally have a garage that matches our vision and fits in so nicely with the neighborhood.

I hired Chicagoland Garage Builders to replace my detached garage. Permits were issued July 1,…read moredemolition happened July 23, and the project was not complete until Oct. 6. The company's website says most projects take four to eight weeks, depending on complexity. Mine was a simple project, and it took nearly 11 weeks from demolition to completion. Communication was poor throughout. Even when I asked, I was never given a direct number for Ryan, the project manager, so I always had to call the main line. He was often out, I couldn't leave him a message, and he frequently did not return my calls. I also asked to speak with the owner, Duane Cook. I left at least four messages on different days asking him to call me, and he never did. The concrete was poured Aug. 7, and I had to call repeatedly to get a timeline. I was told construction would start Sept. 3, then Sept. 10. Both dates passed with no call. Framing finally began Sept. 11, more than five weeks after the pour. After the exterior was done, I was told I was behind on payments, even though no payment had been requested. I was also told the electrician would not be scheduled until I paid in full. However, my contract says payment is due when the carpentry is finished, and carpentry work was still unfinished at the time. I was also told I would not get the garage keys until I paid. I received the keys only after I emailed the company on Sept. 23 to explain that payment was not required in exchange for the keys. Even on the last day, I had to chase down the keyless entry panel, which still had not been installed. After 20 minutes of calling with no answer, I was told that it would be installed that day. It was, and the garage passed final inspection Oct. 6. I would not hire Chicagoland Garage Builders again, and I would not recommend them. If you hire them, ask for a direct contact number up front, get every date and payment milestone in writing, and keep a log of your calls.
