I took the time out of my busy schedule to meet with one of their "landscape architects." I provided drawings and $50,000 budget to which I asked if this was going to be sufficient to cover what I needed done. This didn't seem to be a problem. It's now been six weeks and I have not heard from Prairie Path, by email, or by phone to ask me any questions about plantings or Hardscapes or anything having to do with my project. Prairie Path did an absolutely excellent job on multiple projects at our house last year. They demolished and hauled away an old deck in our back yard and put in place a beautiful paver patio with fire pit. They replaced our crumbling front walk way and steps with gorgeous sandstone. Then they redid pathways on both sides of our house. A few things I was particularly impressed with: 1) First and foremost, the designer that managed our project, Jackie Carmona, was wonderful to work with and did a fantastic job. She provided a ton of suggestions about design and choice of stone and it ended up looking wonderful. She also was extremely patient with us and rolled with us as we changed designs multiple times before finalizing things. When her team was at our house doing the work, she made sure to come on site every day and check on things, which gave us piece of mind. 2) The crew who came on site to do the work did excellent work. The head of the crew, Francisco, noticed a lot of issues in our yard slope and helped address them to reduce issues with water draining toward our foundation (which is something we had previously had issues with). He and his men worked quickly but meticulously. They were courteous to my small kids and did a great job cleaning up too! 3) Prairie Path's pricing was very competitive. They were not the cheapest but were very reasonably priced, particularly given the high quality of their materials, design, and workmanship. I would absolutely recommend Prairie Path for your home landscaping/hardscaping projects, and I will definitely use them again when I need additional work done. Had a "Pavercare" job done recently - leveling some sunken/heaved bricks and stairs, replacing some broken pavers, cleaning out weeds/grass, power washing, and re-sealing. They did a great job finding pavers to closely match our 20-yr old (no longer made) bricks that needed replacement; did a very thorough & expert job leveling problem areas; and the overall job went smoothly with great customer service along the way. Update to the update: Well, I did finally call them back and complained and was told that there was absolutely no record of my having called before. Apparently, I must have been dreaming about the previous call. Not. Anyhow, they came out all stealth-like and fixed the step. Poof. Crisis averted. I'm still keeping my star rating though for the bleh customer service. Tip to CS: If you fail to put a call or work order in your system, don't make it that the call never happened, just say, "Oh, somehow it didn't make its way into our system. I'm so sorry." Update: They have yet to come out and fix my broken step. Now, things have gotten away from me so I haven't been able to call and nag them. We'll see if they get back out here to fix it or not and then I can adjust the review. I'm willing to pass a mistake but if they blow me off again it won't be a coincidence, I'm sure. I love how the previous review makes entire assumptions about the company because of something hitting their car. From my experience, most companies don't do anything about debris that hits your car on the road. With that said, I'll put in my review of Prairie Path Pavers. I had a fairly large patio put in with them last summer. They were more than happy to help me keep things within my budget even though that meant pretty much the cheapest bricks for them. The people in the front office, the site manager and the workers were all wonderful to work with, polite, hard-working and professional. My patio was installed quickly and was guaranteed for the lifetime of the patio for workmanship. In fact, I just got off the phone with them because one of the bricks on the step had come out. No problem at all. They'll send someone out ASAP to repair it. I really dread working with contractors of any sort and was pleasantly surprised with the service and quality that I received. We had Marty from Prairie Path Group (PPG) out to provide us with a quote to help install a new sidewalk and help re-grade most of our yard after we had a new concrete driveway installed. Prairie Path provided some great ideas to our landscaping problems unlike other companies that simply stare at you and say "we can do whatever you want". As an owner of an old home, it's frustrating to have a contractor of any trade simply say, "we can do whatever you want". I'm sure they are trying to be accommodating, but suggestions and guidance is always welcomed and Marty provided that. Unfortunately, we were nearly ready to begin work but surprise driveway overages at the 11th hour killed our landscaping budget for the fall season. I feel horrible that we had to cancel our project at the last minute, but Marty was extremely professional and understanding about it. Even though we didn't end up using PPG, after interviewing a hand full of landscaping contractors, this company is extremely professional and they have done amazing work for our neighbors on their brickwork/pathway projects and came highly recommended. I highly recommend that you give them a call to have them take a look at your project and I hope that you can use them. read more

We have had Marty out twice. Last fall to remove old crappy concrete patio and install pavers. We also added 2 patios in front of house on either side of the porch. Also put stones around a tree where I feed the squirrels. Loved it so much we had him back a few weeks ago to replace all of our sidewalks. They are gorgeous. Marty is so great to work with. Great ideas, really listens to what you want for the yard as well. He also coordinated with the fence company as we had new fence installed as well. It really took the stress off of me trying to do this. I have had the pleasure of watching 2 different crews working at our house and they were both wonderful. Great workers, great suggestions - I can't say enough good about them. Marty has excellent employees. I enjoyed working with Marty and I highly recommend him. read more

We hired Prarie Path Pavers to remove a cracked concrete driveway and install a new brick driveway I was told my brick would be special order, but it arrived on time and the job was completed in less than 4 days. Marty was able to match the color of my existing stamped concrete walkway. The crew never stopped working. They began at 7AM tues and I was parked in my garage Friday night. They had several trucks hauling equipment and material so no one was standing around waiting. They obtained the building permit from the village, scheduled the inspections and even filled the completed driveway edges with black dirt. My sister is hiring them today to repair her brick patio. I had an "emergency" replacement of a hardscape to compliment our new deck...TC Halm and his crew promised it would be finished by a certain date - and it was. His advice on a new design was spot-on, and I couldn't believe that they could have done the project in one day, but they did! They even put in a strip of sod to polish off the surrounding grass. If I could give a negative star I would. After considering several landscape architect / contractors for a large patio, including seat wall, outdoor bar and bbq I decided to go with Marty and Prairie Path as they are local and appeared to be highly capable. The patio itself is beautiful and for the cost, It should be. While doing the work they nicked my com Ed line leaving me powerless for more than nine days. The line was not severed, it was "nicked" so it took a bit of time for moisture to penetrate the line and cause damage. Thank goodness I have a generator. 9 days in the heat of August, Running on minimal power. The expense of repair to the line, outrageous gas bill for generator etc. Of course they denied any and all fault. Prairie Path was the only party digging in my yard. Particularly DIRECTLY under the patio and seat wall they had just installed. This was a huge undertaking. All at my expense. And that's not even the worst of it. They disregarded existing irrigation lines even tied one of them off with a sandwich baggy and painters tape which caused water to penetrate the window well and after a heavy rain causing water to enter the basement through window well. Resulting in damage to carpet, trim, Everything. Did I mention this was a brand new home?? I called, texted, emailed Marty Halm more times than I can say. Never heard a word back. All of this to my expense. I paid a fortune for that patio. Incurred major inconvenience and more expense. He is culpable and does not even have the integrity to call a person back. Beyond unprofessional. I even had the village engineer come out to inspect. Zero integrity with this company. I am not a complainer and this is the ONLY yelp review I have ever written. Save yourself time, money and frustration. Stay away from this company. read more

We purchased a home that had a lovely walkway done by Prairie Path Pavers in about 2003. Beautifully done. One of the step pavers had broke. Not a big deal, or so I thought. The prior owners had called the company to come out and fix it. They were quoted $100. They were told it would happen just after closing. Not a big deal in my mind. The next month rolls around and I call the company. They have no record of coming out and giving a quote or scheduling the repair. The operator assured me someone would be out next week to look at it. I called back a month later... no record of my call. I won't be having them out to fix the borken brick. read more

Had Pavercare fill and seal my driveway and back patio. Less than a year later most of the fill was gone. The seal did not work either. I have called many time to ask about their warranty and was told that "TC" would have to call me back. Three months later, still no call back. My driveway looks terrible. If you are thinking of using this company, please don't. Their business ethics are terrible. At least have the guts to call back and discuss what can be done. read more

We had a very large patio and driveway job done by Prairie Path Pavers a few years ago. Their customer service since then has been terrific. Once I had a very small area of sinking on the patio and they came out immediately and rebuilt that area. A couple of years later, I had a similar problem in another area. Marty came out again and proposed a more extensive rebuilding and improvement process to that part of the yard. All at his own expense. To me this is the hallmark of a very good company.
