I made arrangements with Luis back in early March to mow my lawn this summer. He came to my house, we agreed on a price, and agreed that he would start mowing my lawn every other week starting in mid to late May. The 2nd week of May, I called Luis to confirm that he would start the next week and he confirmed yes, and that he would call me to let me know which day he would be here. I didn't hear back from him the next week, so I called him just before Memorial day weekend and he said again that he would get back to me about which day he would start. Monday, silence (ok, it was Memorial day, no problem). Tuesday, silence. Wednesday morning, silence. I texted him Wednesday around noon to ask him if he was coming that day, the next day, or Friday. He never replied. I have heard nothing from him since. It's now almost mid-June and most lawn care businesses are booked for the season. Being on a corner lot, a have long stretches and a decent amount of landscaping, so a pretty hefty amount of edging. Pulling up a 2-tier flower box, a medium Burning Bush shub and bushes left me furius with Rafael Landscaping. Roots weren't removed and importantly no roller for soil compaction, a process to help prevent future issues like settling or cracking in structures built on the compacted soil, which is the current experience, rain water run off near home's foundation. Contacts with Rafael were ignored then I received an 'ok' then next message, 'no time or date to give.' $800+ spent on shoddy workmanship. I hope this helps someone. read more

Followed up three times repeating that I wanted a quote for weekly mowing, spring and fall cleaning, and additional maintenance services and asking if they did shoveling. He simply replied - yes. So, instead of messaging, I called the phone number. Luis picked up my call. I told him I was having trouble communicating via the Yelp messaging app and was still trying to get a quote for my services. Would he be willing to come out to my house to give me an estimate? He agreed to come that day at five, which he did. I walked him around the property showed him my front and back lawns and paths for shoveling. He said that he would send me the estimate that night. I followed up three more times after that to no avail. If it's this much trouble to try to get someone to provide a quote to do services, I fear to think what it would be like communicating with him when he had the job. I found Rafael landscaping by submitting a job for weed removal through Yelp, and they were one of the few companies to respond. They were very responsive through the whole process. A representative of the company came out to take a look at our situation and provided an accurate quote. We were able to book them within a week. The actual service was impeccable. They arrived within the 1 hour window they gave me, and the whole process took approximately an hour-and-a-half. Our building looks so much better and overall just feels cleaner with all of the weeds gone.
