He showed up on time, talked through options and gave a very reasonable bid. The team showed up a few minutes earlier than promised on work day, and got right to work after confirming the options (draft angle, ramping etc.). Ramon personally came out to survey the work we needed done, explained the plan and gave us a solid price. They broke up and removed a slouched walkway and two patio slabs, poured new concrete at proper grade, and now all the water around our house moves away from the house. I spoke with Ramon about my "Shit Show" I had in front of my basement door. Foundation was cracked, improper drainage and the pitch was going toward the door! I knew the colder weather was upon us and ask the owner if he could do it ASAP! He said he could being a smaller job he could knock it out in a day...And they did just that! They took out the old and put in the new! They poured new concrete, installed the proper drainage grate and put the correct pitch on all four sides so that water goes right in the drain. Ponce was quick to set up an appointment and a bit tough to get started as he was super backed up with work at first. Once we were locked in the work commenced I want to say within 3 weeks. I had him do a complex basement dig down and pour over. He also dug out and installed a new front entrance into my basement with stairs that lead out to the city side walk. The final phase was a backyard patio pour that came out amazing. It was a year long relationship with the man from quote to end and I have to say he always stood by his word on when he was going to be there for the next few phases. Clean up was minimal and all looked great once the crew was done. They even remembered to stop by to pick up all their cement stakes which i've seen many other contractors not even bother. They redid the pitch to drain a different direction which required some figuring but it was so easy to discuss with them and work out together. My condo association needed to have our front steps replaced and a new sidewalk installed to replace the marginal work that the original developer did. I realize that finding a contractor on Craig's List is pretty much a crap shoot, but didn't know where else to turn. I meet with three contractors and received bids from each with Ponce Builders being the only one to submit a written bid outlining the scope of work to be done. This and the fact that the other cement contractors were willing to acquiesce to my likely ill conceived money saving shortcuts whereas Ponce was not garnered them a better reputation in my associations eyes. The work was done quickly and the owners and crew were quite accommodating and did a good job cleaning up the construction debris. Their lead cement finisher was a bit of a perfectionist and did a fantastic job. Sadly the neighborhood kids managed to drop a kickball into the finished sidewalk about ten minutes after the workers had left, but what are you going to do. All things considered from price to quality I'm very happy with the job that Ramon and his crew did. read more

Nobody better at concrete. Nobody. We had an awkward project that involved moving the door into our basement, digging a new space for new steps (by hand) on the side of the house, cutting through 10 inches of foundation for the new door, pouring a section of new foundation to replace where the old door was removed, trenching for new drains that needed to be connected to the main drain, and then creating new concrete steps. We received a number of quotes and ideas on how to pull this off in a small space. Ramon was the guy. A reasonable bid and, more importantly, the best ideas. He and his crew, including Alex and Noe, were courteous, professional, quick, and thorough. It was a pleasure to have them working onsite. (And we've worked with a LOT of contractors over the years.) Not only did they do an amazing job, they also took away all of the extra dirt and clay from the dig at our request. I hired Ponce Builders for concrete work along the side of the house, front step, and garage slab. Their quality of work is good but, attention to detail is NOT. We made the huge mistake in telling the crew leader and not Ramon the important finishing details we wanted. Resulting in my requests being ignored. There was also some damage to the basement window lintel during the demolition of old concrete. I understand that some damage can be done during demolition but the fact that they didn't let me know about it was very disappointing.
