I hired Ponce Builders for concrete work along the side of the house, front step, and garage slab. Their quality of work is good but, attention to detail is NOT. We made the huge mistake in telling the crew leader and not Ramon the important finishing details we wanted. Resulting in my requests being ignored. There was also some damage to the basement window lintel during the demolition of old concrete. I understand that some damage can be done during demolition but the fact that they didn't let me know about it was very disappointing. Ramon came out not once, but twice, to provide guidance for this project. A written estimate was then sent via email and he followed up with a call. I accepted his offer and within a few days, he and his crew were out there. They knocked down the old porch, removed a collapsing sidewalk, and replaced everything with a different design. A portion of my house was sitting on an old concrete slab and Ramon and crew came out with BY FAR the lowest bid to build a new foundation for this section of the house. The job was not quite as extensive as the other quotes in the details but he came and did the work to exactly what he proposed. You can't really argue with the value of his service. First and foremost- Ramon (Ponce) is an honest guy that is easy to talk to, and will actually listen to what you have to say. I've worked with my fair share of contractors in the past year, and based on communications alone, I would rank Ponce Builders right at the top. Having moved into a new (older) home, there were a number of things that needed to be addressed sooner rather than later. Of these things were masonry and concrete work. masonry: along the side of the house, there was a long crack where the house and the house-addition had started to separate due to the ground settling over the past 50-60 years. also, the chimney (and chimney cap) needed to be tuckpointed and replaced, respectively. concrete: the sidewalk along the gangway was in serious need to replacement. each segment was not only breaking apart due to wear & tear, but they were also uneven all throughout. the latter caused major issues because the sidewalk would collect water, which had nowhere to go but into my basement. since the sidewalk needed to be completely replaced, this job also included the steps to the side door. outcome: the masonry work only took 1 day to complete. the major crack had been filled in with mortar, and all other gaps along the way were also sealed. the chimney now looks structurally sound, and the tuckpointing looks great. in regards to the concrete, the job took 2.5 days (1 day demolition and setup, 1 day concrete pouring, 0.5 day for cleanup). the sidewalk has been completely redone and it looks AMAZING. the sidewalk (and steps) were completed to my exact request ...it actually turned out even better than I originally expected. the slope, barely noticeable, perfectly guides water AWAY from the house now. Ramon and his team did such a good job that my (nosey) neighbor stopped by to get their contact information for their property. This is a REAL REVIEW. The owner is full of lies. Had him demolish a garage and add four feet of concrete. Plus pin the old concrete so it could hold the weight of the garage. All agreed on by both parties. First thing I told him was I need the old garage overhead door. I was going to use it on the garage as a party door. He took it. He charged me for all the concrete work and only did half of the job. He never pinned the old concrete. This guy is a Real piece of S**t. Hope no ever has to deal with him. Long overdue review for Ramon and crew. I am a happy customer a few times over. I had several issues and I was stressed out and Ramon was very patient with me and always in a good mood/good attitude considering what he had to deal with. In my case it was rats! I needed a new gangway and lots of bricks and a concrete pad poured over a dirt crawl in my cellar. His guys helped me empty the basement and move things around during cold crappy weather and they always had a good attitude. If I wanted anything tweaked they obliged. We also poured concrete under my deck and around my catch basin a different time (still part of the 'rat project'.) Ramon's quote was reasonable and he and his crew worked hard to make sure I was happy and we nipped this nasty problem in the bud. He also installed new basement windows for me and helped me with some minor electrical issues. He's open to take on a myriad of things as he has experience in more than just concrete. I always wait upwards to a year before I rate companies that have done work for me, to see if the work holds up. Part of our warehouse floor had big deep holes where our big carts and forklifts ride on. Also, we had problems with the outside driveway that was outside our warehouse that had a slope, and I new that had to be replaced. I had contacted about 10 Concrete specialists last fall of 2018. Only about 3 called me back. I chose Ponce because they came out quickly to give me an estimate, and they also gave me the lowest estimate out of the 3. They also listened to everything that I had to say and they provided some valuable information and suggestions that the other 2 companies did not provide. Since this was a store and it was a 2 day job, I was hoping to find someone that would come on a Thursday and Friday so the concrete would have the weekend to dry so that our 1000 pound carts and 4000 pound forklift didn't ruin the newly placed concrete. I also was worried that some of these contractors might use watery concrete so it would not last long with my heavy equipment. Ponce assured me that they would only use concrete that had the proper specs for my application and that they would start on a Thursday and would finish by Friday and that they would not let me down down. They DID NOT let me down, because I was real worried about that. Looking at this concrete a year later, it looks exactly as it did when they installed it a year ago, which I was surprised with all the heavy beating that the concrete endures.
