I had Two Guys Construction come out to patch up a bunch of drywall after a mold remediation company had left things pretty rough. The original cuts were bad, but Tony and his team came in and cleaned everything up. What really stood out was how honest and transparent Tony was from start to finish. He didn't just do the job, he went out of his way to help me out. He showed me that my roofers hadn't done the balcony right; they'd put the roofing over the limestone instead of under it and skipped replacing some rotted wood. Because of that, I was able to get them back out to fix it for free. He also pointed out that the mold remediation guys had removed a light fixture box, which they're now coming back to replace at no cost. It's rare to find someone who actually looks out for you like that. Tony saved me a lot of money and headaches. I honestly won't do another project without him. I reached out to Tony, and two other companies, via Yelp when I was looking for someone to finish some drywall work (for wall and ceiling) at our home after a water leak in our basement. The company that did the water cleanup and drywall removal wanted an insane amount of money to fix the drywall so I opted to go elsewhere. All three companies I reached out to on Yelp were in the same ballpark price wise. All gave me quotes from just the photos I sent them. I opted to go with Tony and 2 Guys Construction. Tony and his helper showed up right on the scheduled time. He took a look at the work area and we discussed what needed to be done. Tony sized up everything quickly then went out to Home Depot to pick up the materials he needed. At the end of the day we were really happy with how everything turned out. You cannot even tell where the new drywall meets up with the old drywall. Paint match on the wall and ceiling are perfect and they cleaned up the work area before they left. Tony's price was right in line with other Yelp quotes that we received, but all of the quotes we received from Yelp companies were around 75% less than what the original company quoted. I wished Yelp's did ratings in 0.5 increments, as I would ultimately give this 2.5stars. It SINCERELY pains me to give this rating, as I fully support small business, and I do understand how Yelp reviews can affect a business, but as a Yelp reviewer, I want to make sure I give my best, accurate, and most honest reviews. From Yelp's perspective, 3-stars is considered "OK", which I would tell people how this went. Not trying to nitpick, but there has to be a distinguishing boundary between a 4 or 5-star review vs a 3-star "OK" review. TLDR; A couple of things that warranted not a 4-star or 5-star rating: 1. Didn't wear shoe booties or something to protect the carpet from outside dirt. I've had handy people who did this 2. I had to retest things a couple of times before they got things "right" 3. There is a chip/paint from them removing the old countertop sink. No offer to repaint or fix 4. There's caulk spilt over the end of the counter top 5. They didn't offer to throw away the old countertop, until we asked. Tony mentioned he just had knee surgery, which I do feel bad about. 6. No guarantee on his work 7. His hourly rate was second-to-most high, from the Yelp quotes. My expectation is nothing less than 4 star experience. 8. Tony was late. He did explain later that he had personal things to attend to. Full story: I had a cracked undermount bathroom sink, and needed to get it replaced since it was leaking water, every time I used the faucet. At first I was hoping to just replace the sink basin. After several attempts myself and an hour or so, to take out the undermount sink basin, from the countertop, I decided to search Yelp... it just wasn't worth my time, effort and frustration. Yelp has a cool feature where it basically spray-fires Yelp-registered handy people, and asks for quotes. Several handy people responded. Tony was very responsive and super friendly. He wasn't the cheapest, but since he was so responsive and super friendly, I went with him. I know being very responsive and friendly should be "defaults" in a person, but believe me, when finding any type of handyperson, those are two characteristics that, for whatever reason, is hard to find. And considering I was letting some stranger into my home, I rather have someone that was pleasant to correspond with. Over the phone, Tony was very honest on what could be done and what couldn't. He suggested replacing the entire sink countertop, and thanks to his tip, we were able to find the exact one at Menards. It was a granite countertop that probably weighed at least 60-lbs or so. We also bought the PVC tubing as well. We wanted to reuse the faucet, as there was nothing wrong with it, so we didn't buy a new one. When Tony came, he was very cordial, friendly, and got to work right away. The job took about ~30-minutes, which was great. We did ask what his warranty was, and he said "none", as he mentioned that the PVC pipe inside the wall was unusual and not conventional. Hmm, OK.... We then asked if we can test things. We ran the water for less than a minute, and noticed that there was a small drip from the pipes. We pointed this out, and he went back to work. ~10-minutes or so later, he said that the leak was coming from the old dry-rotted drain.. where the drain and sink met. He suggested to buy a whole new faucet since it came with a new drain too. Hmm ok, I didn't want to counter-discuss, as I get it, lets just get new parts all around. He and his assistant left to Home Depot, took pictures of faucets, and we agreed to one. He went ahead and replaced the faucet. It took about another ~10min or so. He was very speedy, which was great. After everything was replaced, we tested again, and noticed a little drip from where the drain pipe connected into the wall pipe. OK, he went ahead and offered to use more plumbers tape. Finally, we tested everything again, and it was all good. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later, we noticed a very miniscule leak where the top of the drain is. OK... these are new parts. I ended up tightening and testing things, and as of now, I believe it's fixed. But why do I need to do this? I get people aren't perfect, but from us testing the faucet/sink several times, them redoing things, and now this, it doesn't really paint a 5-star rating. Would I recommend? Probably not. But I sincerely wish the best for the business. read more

We stayed in communication during the duration of the project until completion. During our conversation he conveyed a good understanding of the project I wanted accomplished. PRICING: Tony shared his hourly rate and minimum. My project was small with minimal labor so this was taken into account with final pricing which was more then fair. PAYMENT: We had the flexibility to provide payment via Zelle, which was convenient for us. TIMING: I was waiting for the plastic bathroom access panel to arrive in the mail, so was not able to install it until it arrived. I texted Tony to see if he could come the day it arrived and he fit the project into his workload. TRUST: Tony was professional and competent and I trusted that he knew what he was doing. Also, friendly which goes a long way. COVID SAFETY: Tony wore a mask during the duration of working. CLEAN-UP: The project required cutting into the bathroom ceiling drywall and Tony did this mindfully to minimize debris. Including placing plastic down. read more

Tony is an outstanding contractor and he's definitely my go-to person for any jobs that arise in my condo (though I hope nothing else happens in the near future!). I first hired Tony to come patch my drywall after having an electrical box replaced, and his was the lowest quote. He came out on a Saturday and not only did a great job patching the area around the box, he also patched some holes the previous owner left in the wall and picked up a can of paint for me at Home Depot because I mentioned the paint I was using on my baseboards wasn't working well. This week, I noticed water coming through my laundry closet ceiling and had no idea where it was coming from or what to do. Tony came out within a few hours and, despite the fact that it was in a tight space and a huge pain to get to, he was able cut out part of the ceiling to locate the leak. He also went above and beyond and did a temporary patch on the pipe so I didn't have to pay an emergency plumber to come out and fix it immediately. He helped me talk to the HOA president (as it was a common pipe and they'll have to reimburse me for repairs) and coordinate with a plumber he knows to come out to do a permanent fix, as well as offering to send one of his workers to move my giant stacked washer/dryer because it's blocking the work area. He really thought of everything and made a horrible surprise a lot more manageable. On top of that, his prices are extremely fair for the quality of work. He obviously knows a ton about all sorts of construction projects and repairs and takes pride in his work. I've learned so much about home maintenance just from chatting with him.
