It was a 5 day job, and the crew was right on time every day, and left our house clean and neat at the end of each work day and when the job was finished. We were looking to get one of the rooms in our condo painted before moving in, and as soon as we reached out they were super communicative and transparent about their process and pricing. If you're looking for a painting company you can truly trust, I highly recommend this team. We hired Chicago Painters to paint our entire condo, and we are so glad we did! From day one, their communication and professionalism stood out. I could only be on site the first day to meet the two crew members, but they showed up on time, were polite, and clearly knew what they were doing. Like many of us, I couldn't be there daily to check in, which can be a little nerve-wracking. But when we walked through the condo after completion, we were honestly blown away. It looked like a brand-new home. They handled everything with precision, even the tricky spots like painting around a wall-mounted TV with cords. Clean lines, perfect texture, zero mess--no drips, no overspray, nothing out of place. I really wanted to like the work that Chicago Painters did due to the high reviews they received. However, we learned after the first paint job that, unfortunately, we did not get the same experience that many others have had with this company. We experienced an inattention to detail, miscommunications between the owner and the painting crews, rushed and inconsistent painting and clean up methods, unclear expectations and explanations of what was included in the paint job and what was not, a last-minute cancellation, and a lack of responsiveness when the paint jobs were completely done and we had paid. The initial paint job was quoted to take about 3 to 5 days, but the painters squeezed everything in to 2 days - leaving after 6:00 PM the second day. Before they left we had to walk around with them to point out some spots that clearly and noticeably needed to be touched up. They willingly touched up those spots although we could tell they were in a rush to be done. They then packed up their supplies and left without cleaning up areas that were covered in drywall dust and small chunks of paint and/or drywall. They also did not move any furniture that they had previously moved back to it's original location. Some furniture items they even left on our back patio without notifying us, so these items were out there all night. In our bathroom, paint was not adhering to the wall so in a couple spots it easily peeled off even after allowing the walls to dry. After noticing a few inconsistencies in paint job quality, we took a detailed look around our place and identified multiple locations where what we had asked for was not completed and a rushed job was done. We quickly sent an email to the owner and the customer service team letting them know about this and they responded promptly offering to come by and see what we needed fixed in person. That in person meeting seemed to go fine and the owner made note of all of the areas that needed to be resolved. However, at multiple points during the owner's visit, my partner requested that something be fixed and he said that his team wouldn't usually do that to which then my partner said that they had done it in a different room and showed him. This is a clear example beyond the photographs that speaks to the inconsistencies in the job that was done. We, then, asked about the crown moulding in our living room because, as you can see from the pictures, there's a large visible gap in between the top piece of the moulding and the bottom piece of the moulding. The worker that came along with the owner this day said that they could easily fill the gap for us (which is what we wanted), but the owner said that he wouldn't recommend doing that and that we should just replace it altogether. No resolution was offered for this beyond trying to get the white paint into the gap so the gap would possibly be less noticeable. The visible gap remains today and was never attended to during the second paint job. The second paint job, or our free touch-up, was initially scheduled for one day, but then at 6:00 AM the morning of the touch-up we received calls and texts from the customer service team saying that they would need to cancel due to a schedule conflict. Needless to say, we weren't stoked about the extremely late cancellation, but we rescheduled and waited for our turn. The painter that came out on the day of our touch-up was very kind and willing to resolve the issues that were mentioned to him. After he was done with the touch-ups, we felt that although we didn't consider the experience as a whole to be what we had hoped, we accepted it for what it was and decided that we would resolve any other areas missed on our own without bringing it up to the owner. A few months later, we noticed that our crown moulding was turning pink in multiple locations. It had previously been brown before Chicago Painters repainted it, so we didn't understand what could possibly have caused the change in color. We reached out to the Chicago Painters team (the owner, Jim, and the customer service contacts) via email on August 13th, 2025 asking about it because we genuinely just weren't sure what to make of why our crown moulding was turning pink. We weren't sure if they had used any pink putty on our moulding or what could possibly be causing this. After about 10 days passed with no response, I emailed again on August 23rd, 2025 checking in to see if they had received our previous email. Then, after no response still, my partner called on September 9th, 2025 and spoke to Maureen who said they would escalate the matter and get back to us on the emails we sent. Now, it's September 18th, 2025 (over a month since I sent the initial email) and I haven't heard from Chicago Painters about what could be causing the pink on our crown moulding. At this point (and apologies for the length of this review), I am pretty fed up with the lack of communication and the entire experience with Chicago Painters. read more

They were amazing: so professional and SO helpful. I needed a large and somewhat complicated job done on extreme short notice, and not only were they able to do it, they were the only ones who seemed to care about the details that made it a bit more complicated--a lot of the others felt a bit like they were trying to lowball the quote and basing it only on a phone convo only only to come in later and say "oh well it'll actually take X days and cost Y amount more." In particular, the communication was really great, they kept me apprised of everything from timelines to choices on tiny painting details throughout, and I was so, so happy when I finally saw it! They also left everything SO clean: if it weren't for the beautiful new walls throughout I would have had no idea the painting had happened at all. Communication with the office staff was excellent and the owner calls the night before the job starts to confirm paint colors and the scope of the project and answer any questions. I appreciated his suggestion to use a different trim color than our pick which he knew did not cover well and might require extra coats at an extra cost. I would highly recommend Chicago Painters. They are incredibly sharp and reasonable - responsive, thorough, fair in pricing, execute masterful work like the craftspeople that they are. We had them paint our ceiling that had some issues from a previous repair that wasn't done correctly (builder grade work) - they fixed the issues and the ceiling looks great. (Also painted a fireplace box and did a wonderful job.) Based on that work, we hired them to give our kitchen a glam-up. Needed the walls of my small (less than 850 sq ft) apartment to be painted after remedial work for water damage. Chicago Painters was very responsive. Got back to me, quoted based on the apartment listing. The quote came back with the job needing 1-2 days. I cannot fault their customer service which is really 5 star. What confused me was the bill. The job took 5 hours and yet the bill was the same and it was already on the high side as they were only painting the walls, no trim or molding. So apart from the price, I would highly recommend this place. Great service from the office who kept me informed of what was going on the whole time too. I choose this company due to their high reviews. However, I had a less than stellar experience. The communication from the company was terrible including deciding to switch crews in the middle of my job, one of their guys having a breakdown in my condo having to deal with coming in after the first crew, and my condo being left in less than acceptable conditions. I also was quoted one price and at the end, paid a much different price. In fairness, I did add on some things that were not in my original quote. However, the discrepancy in price was a couple thousand dollars. Their work was fine but I would never recommend anyone use this company. I had to spend hours and hours working on getting my place back to how it was before they entered. Also, touch ups were offered but I felt uncomfortable having anyone back in my unit after speaking with the owner. read more

I hired Chicago painters to paint all my walls and ceilings after I bought a new house. I loved that they offered a virtual estimate so that we could start on the painting right away. It was an easy process and they walked me through all the details. Ricardo and his team were amazing. It turned out that there were more issues with the house than I anticipated (a lot more cracks, and old paint), but they worked with it. We had to add some closet painting because of peeling paint and they were still able to finish within the time frame I needed, which was so appreciated. They also left the house very neat and tidy and were great about communicating when they planned to work and any issues/questions they had regarding extra work that needed to be done or needing another coat of paint to fully cover the old colors. Cheryl was awesome about keeping us informed and arranging the schedule. Due to closing delays, I had to keep changing the start date, but she was on top of everything. My newly painted island by another company was not holding up, and another painter who I had worked with in the past said Gene was the only person they could think of to make it right. Gene put in extraordinary effort to ensure that the island was done to my satisfaction ... and that's not easy because I like my house to look like a museum. He even came back to adjust the sheen because he felt like he could make it even better! And he did. After that, we used Gene for various painting projects around our home.
