He showed me how the wires were actually burning and were a fire hazard before due to pulling so much power to the same outlet. He also hard-wired a new power strip in my office and another in my bedroom, replacing the tangled and unsightly mess of extension cords. Everything looks so much neater and organized. Jesus repaired damage to our ceiling due to a leak in the upstairs neighbor's apartment. He was very friendly and professional. I needed some bathroom work done - a leaking faucet, plus removal of old shower fixtures and installation of new fixtures. The team at FixIt is very quick to respond and build a quote - even knocked the price down a bit after the initial quote when I clarified what was needed. Steve, the on-site professional, showed up on time and was very efficient! He discovered an adapter piece was needed to properly install the new side-spray shower nozzles. So he zipped off to the nearest hardware store, returned with what he needed and finished the project. From the last 3 times we've use Fix It People to repairs ceilings from water damage, touchup paint jobs, repair cracks in drywall as well as install numerous items such as exhaust fans, pendant lighting, gfci outlets, light switches, smart thermostats, outdoor security cameras, ceiling fans, and chandeliers hung (one on a 14ft ceiling). Every time they send technicians that are knowledgable, professional, and thorough. They will send technicians who specialize in certain areas and are good at sending multiple technicians to help move a project along and finish within the estimated time period. The quoting process started with a virtual consult with Tom who was quick, efficient, and thorough. The most recent technician we had were Raul and Leo, who were amazing. They were incredibly professional, respectful of our home, great on communication their progress, and most importantly performed quality work. Just a few tips based on my experience with Fix It People: 1. The estimate will only be as good as you description of the scope of work. So be organized in exactly what work you want done, what materials you have, what materials you need for them to get, and what exactly you need for them to do. So if you need new lights installed. There's a difference in the quote for removing existing lights first versus only installing new lights onto a blank receptacle. Just be a through as possible during the estimate and when the crew comes for the first day, be through as possible in walking through everything that needs to be done, before they start working. 2. Know that the estimate is an estimate and the completion ETA is an ETA. The first time I used them, they did contact me to let me know that the scope of the work is bigger than what was originally expected. This was with me doing the above tip. It's home improvement work, and sometimes when repairing a wall or remove an old fixture, there is more work than what anyone could have known beforehand. So prepare for the possibility of adjustments to the estimate. The last two times the estimates came right on target and they completed a day before the estimated completion date. But just know that it happens. From my experience, they immediately communicated the additional cost and updated the ETA. They explained to me what was different from the original estimate and apologized. It felt like they tried there best to provide the most accurate estimate, but again with home improvement, unexpected things happen. In the last project, I removed an item based on a recommendation from the technician and the front office quickly adjusted my estimate downward. So it does go both ways. 3. The technicians always ask you to check their work to make sure it's good. Take them up on it. It's ok to let them know that they missed a spot or remind them that there is another item on the estimate. In all of my experience with the various technicians they are receptive and will correct any missed items. 4. They are not the cheapest option. But many times, you get what you pay for. It's always good to have a contractor company available who you trust to get work done, and for me it's Fix It People. read more

He did the work for two of these three projects, and delivered exactly what we were looking for with high professionalism, efficiency and quality. We had some issues with the first project (not delivered by Raul), because outdoor work was interrupted by weather and so ran short on time, Fix It People scheduled a return visit to complete everything directly without additional charge. I got a quote for handyman services from this company, and it was so obscenely high I can hardly believe it's a legitimate business. My next highest quote was half the price, and the one I went with was less than a third of the price. And he was very professional and did a great job. I can't imagine what Fix It People could do better for so much more money. How many ways are there to sand down a sticking door? Additionally, once you get a quote from them you receive unsolicited calls from what seems like a call center (?) pressuring you to accept the quote. To their credit they took me off the list once I asked. They only give quotes after doing a video call, which felt shady to me as well. Every other company I got a quote from came out in person. Why can't Fix it People? If they're going to charge so much, they should come in person to get a proper sense of the job. It looks like from reviews some people get reasonable quotes, so I must ask--how do they choose who to try to rip off? Some people in my family suggested it's because I'm young, female, and a new homeowner. I certainly hope that isn't the case. read more
