I reached out to Loyal Handyman to install a several Ring floodlights on our house and garage. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner was very responsive through Yelp messaging, with a quote for $260, which seemed fair compared to others.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was able to send out a handyman at my next available time, which was less than a week later.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The handyman arrived at the time quoted, and we went over the job. He was very respectful of our home, removing his shoes without being asked. He did the job efficiently and checked in along the way, which helped because there was a little confusion about which light to put on the garage. That was resolved quickly, and we were all set. I would recommend Loyal Handyman as a reliable, responsive company that gets the job done right. read more

I was looking for a handyman to help with two things - a repair to our inner garage door so it would latch properly, and I wanted help getting some shelves hung securely to put some speakers on. On both fronts, Joe absolutely delivered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The response time to my initial request was quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was waiting on the shelves to be delivered and after getting an initial quote, I reached back out once they had arrived, and was scheduled within days for a time that worked with my work from home schedule.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The shelves were hung perfectly (photo included) and are positioned perfectly for the speakers they hold. The door now latches shut again and I'm not stuck just using the deadbolt (and inevitably forgetting my key) so a cat doesn't escape. Final bill was the initial quote, so no surprises there, which is always great. I did have an additional charge to cover some supplies needed to fix the door, but was provided the original receipt for them, so no possibility for "flexible accounting" - I always appreciate that kind of transparency. If I need more things done around the house, I plan to reach out to these guys first. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Had a wonderful experience with Joe helping us install a handrail and handrail brackets for our inner stairwell![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Joe had the presence of mind to bring along some toggles in the event that studs weren't found in our wall, and it's a good thing he did, as only one stud was in that particular area. He did a great job with the installation of all of the brackets and the handrail, and was professional, polite, and personable the whole time. The amount charged was also very fair and reasonable. I found Loyal Handyman in a Yelp listing, so I decided to contact him when the back metal security screen door of our house had an issue recently. [[HIGHLIGHT]]John contacted me via text not too long after first contact, and he gave me a reasonable cost and time estimate for the projected repair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] John performed the necessary job in a business-like manner, and it was all done in a relative jiffy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked for an estimate for various repairs in my house and outside. Meir came out and looked at everything. I later received an estmate from someone in the company. I assume it wasn't Meir because he wasn't fluent in English when he spoke, which is no problem, but the estimate was written by someone who appeared fluent in English. So, at least two people were involved in providing the estimate[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I had a couple very minor tasks that I needed help on (among other bigger tasks), including changing a flourescent light bulb in a closet, which i could not seem to get the bulb lodged in properly. I was embarassed I had to ask for help on changing a light bulb, but I just couldn't get it to stay lodged. Their estimate for changing the light builb (I already bought the bulb) - $120.00! Probably would take 1 minute, maybe 2. Another minor task - I had a heavy painting I needed to hang - already put the hooks into the wall, I just needed someone to hand me the painting after I climbed up the ladder to the hooks, as it was too heavy for me to carry it up the ladder (about 30#). He saw the painting and where I had hooks. Told him I just neeed it handed to me once I got to top of ladder. Their estimate: $100. That task would take less than 5 minutes and I was doing the harder part on the ladder. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After I got the estimate, I told them I'd contact them if I wanted to proceed with the work (polite for "not a chance I'm paying these prices".) That message was acknowledged as received. The next day, someone else from the company texted me and asked if he could come out the next day for the estimate. I told him his co-worker already came out and gave me an estimate. He didn't respond further[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I hope these gouges weren't because I am a woman, but this type of overcharging is way too common. Never works as their credibility is shot once they pull these stunts. It's why I use Yelp - went with people who have multiple excellent reviews, including this company. I'm embarassed for them-- that they would submit such an estimate to someone. Apparently they don't respect their customers (or potential customers). Complete waste of my time. read more

As a landlord, getting that work done in a timely manner before new tenants moved in was absolutely necessary and he was the most reasonably priced of people i talked to. read more

Highly competent, versatile, and a whiz at all things mechanical, John made a number of repairs and improvements over the course of two appointments, including but not limited to: repairing a broken entrance closet by fixing its broken floor bracket and damaged door; repairing the busted base blocks of two bedroom closets; installing 3 smoke detectors; extracting the tip of a shelf support pin I managed to break and lodge in a shelf pin hole; removing and replacing an old, dilapidated, and quite stuck coaxial wall plate that looked as though it could've been in place for decades; and various and sundry other repairs and improvements. Further, his quotes were eminently reasonable and the quality of his work unassailable. Very, very pleased and would definitely hire again (already did so twice). read more

The drip on my shower got worse suddenly over the weekend which caused me to reach out for help. I also had several other less serious issues that I asked the Loyal handyman to help with. He was able to take care of everything in one visit (trip to the store in the middle to buy parts). I am quite happy with the punctuality, price, and service. After being overcharged and underwhelmed by our previous plumber, I was on the hunt for a capable plumber to install a whole house water filtration system. From the moment I reached out to Green Tech Plumbing, they were nothing but responsive and helpful. I purchased the filtration system from a vendor, yet Kevin willingly answered all my questions (promptly!) about the system. He even pointed out that one of the options had expensive filters that would need to be changed frequently saving me hundreds of dollars in filters. What a gem! The tech had to make a run to the hardware store to buy connection pieces that weren't included with system, but he knew exactly what to buy and did so in a timely manner. The install was speedy and flawless. The tech was even willing to stay while I called the vendor's water filtration system customer service expert to walk us through the start up process. On top of this great experience, I wrote a check for the incorrect amount and Kevin responded right away saying he would swing by and drop a check in our mailbox for the overpayment. Unreal! While there's lots of the typical products like nuts and bolts, there's also the power tool and equipment rentals. If needing something like that and you aren't planning on using it again after that then this is where to go. The store can be hard to find things but the staff is friendly and helpful. For a locally owned hardware store it has pretty good finds. It's located at the intersection in the name of course so that helps a lot. Let me guess, it goes something like this: You walk in looking for an item and an associate who can help you. You see someone in paint, but know they can't leave their post, so you continue looking. Aha! A person! Oh wait, that's a cardboard cutout. (This actually happened to me recently at a big box.) Finally, you find someone, and they tell you where to find the item in question. Only, the entire endeavor took way too long, meanwhile, the house is a mess while you're gallivanting the aisles. Enter Clark Devon Hardware. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted and offered assistance. Even if you are just browsing, others will ask you along the way. If you do ask for help, you will either be taken to the item or shown to a person who can help (as in, 'ask this person right over here,' who sees and waves). The team at Clark Devon is knowledgeable, kind, and no nonsense. They know you have things to do and places to be. They will be happy to help you and send you on your merry way. Clark Devon may not be the prettiest hardware store, and perhaps the big boxes may even have slightly cheaper prices (this is unconfirmed). However, it is my go-to for all hardware and home improvement needs, not only out of a desire to support a locally owned business, but because customer service counts for something too. If I am to offer one smidgen of feedback, it's that I wish they were open until later in the evening. For sometimes you come back from work and discover the closet rod has snapped in two, and you need parts to replace and fix.
