I've seen Minas, of course. Right next door to Raven Theatre, where I used to have a season subscription. It's been here long before I was even born let alone moved to Chicago. It's good reputation is well earned. I called on Tuesday and Raffi and his helper were able to come over Friday (three days ago) for set-up. I haven't had a working TV in my living room since before the pandemic, so it's kind of weird having this new one I bought set up and working! It took them 30-45 minutes to get the old TV (a plasma circa 2010, so it was a heavy SOB) off the wall and the new one up. They removed some speaker mounts that were above the TV, which have been there since we moved in but just never had removed, to get the TV to fit. It fits the space perfectly and makes watching TV much more enjoyable again. Raffi programmed the remote, but somehow I managed to switch the sources the first time I used it so now BluRay actually means Xfinity and vice versa. Whoops! But at least I know what's what. The price was incredibly reasonable, especially since he needed to grab a cable or two in order to complete the work. I'd recommend Raffi to anyone, would happily contact him again for any job I needed, and will visit Minas if I need for home audio or video equipment. read more

Had a LG 32" tv that suddenly had no picture (but was getting power). Took it in for a diagnostic to Minas since they're listed as an LG service center and in the neighborhood. $39 for the diagnostic and Raffi thought best guess would be the main board. Since it's a 32" tv, he suggested going with a new tv since the part, new would be $160+. (Aram did also offer that they had a 32" in the store for $99). Raffi was open to me making a low cost effort to repair the tv by having a $20 part shipped from a recycler to the shop. Though the part was an exact match for what was in my tv, it didn't fix the problem (suggesting it would be a more complicated problem with the display itself). I took care of returning that part. All these checks were part of the $39 diagnostic. They took care of recycling my old tv and I went ahead with shopping for a new 32" tv. read more

I enjoyed working with Raffi. He's the kind of guy who goes above and beyond. I needed 2 TV's mounted along with a sound bar before the weekend. After obtaining several quotes, I wanted to support Mina's and he was scheduled for 2 day later. When I explained I needed to move those 2 TV's to the new location, he offered to haul them for me including the dismounting of one. I will say this, Raffi is a mix of reasonable yet high strung. If you are a laid back kind of person, just be prepared. In all he and his worker (I think his daughter) were very nice and friendly and in all did about 2 hours of work for a fair rate all in. I gave one less star which I wish it was 1/2 star only because they didn't clean up the boxes, dry wall dust, etc when they were done. They kinda just left the mess there. Took my LG B7A OLED tv here for a panel replacement. I live in the southwest burbs and no one in the area would take my TV for repair. I searched for a couple of weeks and decided to look in the city instead and found this place. Very satisfied with the communication and the speed of the repair as well as the price. I was able to drop off the tv and instead of an in-home repair and saved me some cost. I was able to get the tv back the next day and tv works like new again. LG paid for the panel replacement and sent the replacement panel directly to their shop and I just had to pay for the installation which isn't too bad given that it's basically a brand new TV again. Our 3ish year old LG OLED TV started having issues with the screen getting a green tint... This is apparently a known issue with our model of TV, so LG graciously offered a one-time screen replacement. No charge for the screen, but we'd have to pay for the installation. We had a great experience with Minas. Raffi was our installer and was very personable. Our original install date was for Tuesday, however has asked if he could come, on a Sunday! I could not refuse that offer. We were having a TV hung on the wall of the addition of the home we recently purchased and it was a for Raffi from the get go. I had texted him the wrong address, by 20 blocks! But he laughed it off and was understanding. Once he arrived, the sound bar proves also to be a slight pain, but he was still ready to hang it. Then once he began to drill the holes in the wall to hide the cables, he discovered that we have cork insulation? I had no idea that was even a thing! He did not want to damage the drywall, so he asked we have a contractor come in for that work, so we could not get the cables hidden. Even without that and not being able to hang the sound bar, it was still a clean installation and we were really happy with everything. This review is specifically for anyone who needs a warranty repair for their LG television. I had the dreaded burn-in problem with my LG OLED TV. The good news is that LG offered me a one-time repair where they covered the parts, which was nice because the TV was out of warranty. As part of the repair process LG initially referred me to a different TV repair place (not Minas). The other place was a real hassle to deal with. Sure enough, I looked at their yelp profile and it was full of complaints, especially from people trying to get warranty service for their LG. Fortunately, LG allowed me to pick a different place. I cross-referenced LG's directory of providers in Chicago and almost all of them had terrible Yelp reviews... with lots of complaints about warranty repairs. Minas stood alone as having a sterling reputation and they happen to be in my neighborhood. So I asked LG if I could use them, and they set it up. I had a wonderful repair experience with Minas. They contacted me right away, and the part arrived a few days later. They came to my house and did the repair on site. The entire process took a week, which far exceeded my expectations. The repairman was very nice and professional. No hassles, no BS. Excellent communication and follow through. ROACHES IN THEIR UHAUL RENTAL: My friend rented their uhaul, we looked down on the floor and it was flooded with brown roaches. Like actual roaches that were alive were literally running around the front 2 seats. There was like 20+ of them running near our feet into cracks of the car and things. It was the scariest thing of my life. We didn't notice because it was dark outside, but I happened to turn my light on and it was INFESTED WITH ROACHES!. DO NOT rent a uhaul from them, it's probably roach infested. Also be sure to check the car prior to loading your things in it. They didn't let him check but pretended to be courteous and give the car to him so he couldn't check. But you can't tell me they didn't know about the roaches prior to giving him the car. I know for a fact it didn't come from us because he moved from a brand new luxury apartment and he doesn't have pest at this place and I certainly wasn't carrying bunches of roaches on me in my handheld purse or on my body. Needed to wall mount a new TV in the family room and move another to the garage. Called Minas and Raffi (owner) answer and we had a great chat as I described the project. Raffi is legit. We were looking to replace the satellite dish on the roof with an HDTV antenna. I'd done some research around antennas, and what he suggested was even better than what I'd been able to find. For installation, he tried hard to reuse existing cabling, but as usual my 120yo house fought back. He instead removed redundant cabling, then ran new cabling in a very discreet way. I had a very interesting experience with Minas TV. LG support put me in touch with them as they are an authorized repair center. I called and had a chat with someone (owner maybe) and he explained that the panel of my TV had to be replaced but that it costs more than a new TV itself (I validated this information). A few weeks later after I sorted things out with my insurance (after all I had plan to buy a new TV), I called them back and asked for either the quote for replacement or just a document/email stating that the TV was not repairable at a cost under a new TV. His answer was "yeah, I'll charge you 100 bucks for that". I stated that I didn't understand the $100 worth of work in an email. He then said: "ok, then I'll charge you 50 bucks and credit it to a new TV" then said "I got costumers" and he hung up. Frankly, the price on this TV (65' OLED) is very consistent between retailers, so initially, I was ready to buy the new TV with them since they are a locally owned store but given this interaction, I won't and will look for another vendor. I'm glad that this bad experience came before I made my purchase and not after. I can't think about how it would have been if a problem had occurred after the purchase. I called back LG (the representative seemed surprised of the refusal by Minas TV to provide the repair quote for free) and they helped me with the paperwork. My take away from this story is that if I need local LG support in the future, I'll pick another authorized repair center rather than Minas TV. read more
