    My Walkman that was repaired by a professional and NOT a hack con man like Anthony.

    I took my Sony Walkman here awhile ago in the hopes of getting it fixed. The cassette player did not work but the radio worked fine. I was told that there would be a $20 CASH charge just to look at it. After keeping it FOREVER, I was told that there was nothing that could be done to fix it, that there were no parts available anymore. Now I see why he wants cash, so you don't report him to the credit card companies. He didn't even look at it because if he HAD, he would have seen that the belt disintegrated and needed to be replaced, that the spindles that kept the belt in place really needed to be cleaned, that other parts needed to be cleaned, and that the heads needed cleaning too. But it was easier for him to steal your money for doing nothing than to actually look at your device and fix it. I had everything done that I just described FOR FREE by someone who actually knew what he was doing and now my Walkman is working like new! Stay far away from this rip off guy. UPDATE!!!!!!! 14 Jul 2023 Well I was waiting for the childish and ignorant response and as with others that gave him a bad review, he didn't disappoint. This is a TRUE and accurate review. 1) I was charged $20 for the estimate so as usual the owner is a liar! 2) If I declined the estimate that would mean that he didn't take a look at the inside so other than reading and copying what I wrote, he never looked at the inside of the Walkman. 3) I will be more than happy to provide the name of the NICE and Courteous GENTLEMAN who fixed my Walkman for free. He VOLUNTEERS at the Repair Cafe in Oak Park where very nice people give of their time and KNOWLEDGE to repair any item that you bring them......ALL FOR FREE. If they can't fix it, they recycle the item. The gentleman that spent over 2 1/2 hours on my Walkman did so without any complaint or ignorant attitude LIKE YOURS and he actually made it work again which is more than I can say for your lack of skills. You are nothing but a lying rip off con man who takes people's money for doing nothing all in the guise of an estimate that you never do. Stay away from this guy. You see how he responds to reviews that he doesn't like which are totally justified. I would expect a response like his from a two year old but then again, this is the mentality and expertise from this two year old that I received in the first place. UPDATE!!!!!!!! 27 Jul 2023 See people! THIS is the reason why you should never bring your business to this child! When you post an HONEST AND TRUE review, he retaliates and accuses you of lying. I would love to recommend the MATURE AND INTELLIGENT man that worked on my Walkman work at your shop because at least he actually knows how to repair things as opposed to YOU! But I can assure you, he would never work at a place like yours. He has standards and ethics, two qualities that you will NEVER possess. Keep posting stupid remarks and I will keep responding. It only proves my point and the other people who had the misfortune of trusting you with their electronics.

    Brought my 1978 refurbished Sony record player in to see what Anthony could do about the skipping I was dealing with on every record....and I will never go anywhere else again. Anthony is a total pro: super communicative, thorough and puts his customers' needs first. He called me a few times to let me know what he was working on, problems he was finding and steps we'd take to make sure my machine was working like new, then had me come in with my records so we could listen together. I've been playing records nonstop since I picked it back up on Saturday and I'm so happy! Cash only FYI but very reasonable pricing for how much work and attention Anthony puts into everything.

    My only complaint about working with Anthony is that I did not take a 'before' picture of my beat-up turntable to compare with the end result. I had an old Marantz turntable / receiver that had a broken tonearm, missing counterweight, terrible needle and the platter didn't even move - and those were just the things that I could see. In just a few days Anthony turned my junk into a working masterpiece. He had to improvise and build his own pieces in many places, but he did what I thought could never be done - he made it work again. I will absolutely be coming back next time I need something fixed.

    still rating this guy a 1 star. he called me a liar on both my reviews... and called me a bitch. he NEVER once mentioned that my turntable might get recycled... not once... I also initiated EVERY communication.

    I've tried to bring my vintage media players in for service on more than one occasion and have been told they don't have time to help me.

    Dont cheat customers by cutting corners to make gear technically work, but only in mono. Dishonest place to be certain.

When I dropped my phone and had a white line going down the screen, I filed a claim to have it fixed. I was expecting to have to go to an AT&T store, but all the uBreakiFix spots popped up as well. This spot is closer to me than any AT&T store so I came here on a Monday morning to drop it off. It wasn't busy, and after giving my phone number they were able to look up my claim and asked me to come back in 90 minutes. Used that time to get lunch (but was also sadly reminded a lot of restaurants are closed Mondays). I came back a little early and my phone was all set to go. Since it was via my insurance the payment just shows up in the phone bill. My only complaint was they put a screen protector on which I thought was nice, until I realized it was covering up the part of the phone you put your ear on - I was confused why my calls were so muffled. Still, not much to complain about! Obviously this is a unique scenario as I'm not just coming in with a random problem, and I assume my issue was a common one, but at least I can say they fixed my minor phone problem well.

The total charge included getting my battery replaced as well, which is something I've needed for the last year. Luckily for me it was a great 2 birds one stone deal. They did everything by the next business day and everything worked as expected. 50% deposit and balance upon completion. Super straightforward. The best part is that they are professional, communicative, and you can tell they aspire to high quality all around in their operations. I'll be coming to them next time I need a repair or upgrade.     I was initially very pleased with the quick turnaround and friendly service when I had my iPhone…read morescreen replaced. They were pleasant and professional and we exchanged a bit of humor over the phone and in person. Unfortunately, just two weeks later, a noticeable black blob appeared on the new screen near the Dynamic Island. This looks like OLED screen bleed or a defect. The phone has remained in a case with a screen protector the entire time and has not been dropped, bumped, or otherwise mishandled. Given the timing (only 2 weeks after installation) and the specific location of the spot, this issue is almost certainly the result of either a defective replacement screen or a problem during installation (such as trapped dust, adhesive, or pressure damage). It is not consistent with normal use or accidental damage. I offered to bring the phone in so they could inspect it in person, but they declined and immediately dismissed the warranty claim without examination. While I understand repairs aren't perfect, I'm disappointed they are unwilling to stand behind their work and honor the warranty on what is clearly a post-repair defect. I went from a satisfied customer who would have returned and recommended them to someone who can no longer do so. Potential customers should be aware that warranty support may not be reliable here. EDIT: Contrary to the response below the phone was never physically inspected. Rather, the response was based on a set of photos sent showing the issue which, alone, would be virtually impossible to come to a conclusion of physical damage versus defective product. As a customer, you are in a no win situation here as no matter what happens they are going to blame you and not the manufacturer or installation for the problem.

I was told by Ray, the owner, that this repair shop used to be an authorized Akai Service Center. Well, when I tried to record on the unit after picking it up from repair, it would not record, and it was recording GREAT before I took it to Just Service. When I reported the condition to Ray, he said, "the heads are probably dirty again from you using old analog tape"; that's absolutely ridiculous since this happened while I was trying to record on the unit for the VERY FIRST TIME after picking it up from Just Service; NO TAPE had even passed through the head system yet! Now the unit is not recording, and the channel is dropping again. It's still under the 90-day service warranty but now I don't even trust Just Service to do the warranty work. This business doesn't even give you a repair ticket when you drop off your item; they will tell you, "We'll call you when its ready", They only take cash, probably because a Credit Card can be disputed if it's proven that the service was not provided. You will also not be allowed into the shop when you drop off and pick up your unit, supposedly due to Covid but more likely because they don't want you to see the conditions that your unit will be exposed to while it is there. Ray is a real tool and will talk to you like you are a piece of dirt on his shoe if you ask questions or dispute something that he says, totally rude and unprofessional. I live about an hour away, but I am going to travel out of my way to visit a trustworthy repair shop.
