Anthony fixes pretty much anything, and in some cases is able to do same-day services for minor jobs. He put in a lot of effort in fixing my guitar amp, but ultimately the repair was cost-prohibitive. He's fixed old headphones for me, as well as various small electronics. He knows everything about guitars, amplifiers, etc. and can help you with upgrades to your equipment. He only charges $20 to give stuff a preliminary look-see. I never write reviews, but first for everything right? Well I'm a DIY type of guy and use YouTube for everything. I changed the garage voltage from 120v to 240v. My dummy ass forgot to unplug the appliances in them. I had a audio system from Sony that BOOMS. I had to get it fixed. Thought I could YouTube fixing the stereo but nope. There's way too much to learn so I headed to Anthony's. I was way in over my head with this DIY so I headed to Anthony's. It was $20 to evaluate the damages and he said he will get back to me in a week. No problem cuz I can see he had a lot of other things to work on, but to my surprise I got a call the next day. $65 to repair?? Count me in. I got it in three days after that. Talk about a worker. They took my 1972 Sansui from 60 to 100. I have heard good things in the past about their work but didn't realize how sonically sound they are at this place. They fixed it. Seriously, I cannot imagine taking mushrooms in the same way. Wait. Did I share too much? Let me start again. Ahem. Back in the day, I adored my beloved stereo. I lived it. I loved it. This receiver was my one, my all. And then.... deterioration happened. The right channel started getting fuzzy, the knobs didn't have the same traction, the records didn't 'feel' the way they used to feel, and I was bummed. I thought that my 1972 Sansui 2000x was just wearing down and I needed to upgrade. So, I bought a state of the art Onkyo. Boy, did that piss me off. Brittle piece of shite. No matter what I tried with the sonic levels, it still sounded like someone was hitting me with a scrabbly piece of limestone. Just terrible. I missed the lush sound of my (admittedly, transistor) Sansui. One day, I thought. And then I thought again. "How about I bring this over to Anthony's on Broadway?" - secure in the recommendation that this place was solid, knew what the heck(sic) they were doing, and I thought, "Why not?". So I did. The turnaround time was solid. The service professional. And when it comes to nerds (I am one), I can recognize diligence in such things. They did traces on the circuit board, replaced burnt out LEDs, fixed CAPs, etc. Basically, they took a receiver older than my daughter (or my sister, for that matter) and restored it to pristine brilliance. Truly remarkable. It sounds better now than anyone could buy brand new on a budget. Seriously. Mark it. Short story. Go here to get your vintage gear fixed. I wanted to get into vintage audio so I went on Craigslist and scored a 1972 The Fisher stereo receiver for super dirt cheap. The receiver was in mint condition but there was one nagging issue. The radio tuner would fade out after a few seconds after turning it on. Otherwise everything else works. Unfortunately, vintage electronic repairs are beyond my scope. So I've googled and yelp for a repaired place. I saw great reviews on this place and decided to bring it here. When I arrived, Anthony quickly greeted me and was friendly throughout. He did warn me that it would take a at least 2 weeks to diagnose and look into it which I had no problem. I've paid a $20 cash deposit for him to look into it. Anthony called me back in 1.5 weeks. He explained that the tuner circuit is worn and some resistors and capacitors needed to be replaced. He stated it would be $200 ($180 because the deposit). Looking at forums, this was an okay price. I wanted it fixed as I plan on using this long term. He stated it would take a few weeks for parts. The receiver was fixed in about 2 weeks. He also fixed one of the knobs that was loose for free. After I took it home, about a week later, it did it again. I've called him and he attempted to troubleshoot over the phone. Unfortunately no remedies would fix the issue so he told me to bring it back again. He was able to take a look at it and fix it the same day. It turns out that one of the other resistor blew out. Since then, they have been no issues(knock on wood!). His rates are reasonable. He is also honest and professional throughout the whole process.I would recommend Anthony's for any vintage receiver repair. One important thing to note is it's a cash only business. My landlord fried a bunch of my electronics while doing work on my apartment. They admitted fault and fixed everything, but they could not figure out how to repair my beloved record player. It's nothing fancy, but I was going through withdrawals & wanted it fixed. The repair place I had been recommended to go to was going to charge me $50 to just look at the turntable, and their hours were M-F, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. How on earth is a person with a regular full-time job supposed to get anything repaired when those are the hours?? I set out on Yelp to find a different shop, and Anthony's saved the day. Dropped off my turntable on a Saturday (without a "just-to-look-at-it" fee), it was repaired & ready to go a week later. I'm really surprised that this place doesn't have any reviews yet, so I'll get the ball rolling. On Monday night, I was really looking forward to catching up on some TV shows I had on DVR. Sat down with a bowl of chili, turned on the TV aaaaand... it made this weird sizzling noise, the screen blinked and then the set went dark. I'll be the first to admit that I'm pretty dependent on my technology, and I was NOT a happy camper. Not to mention that I had NO idea who to call to get this thing fixed! Oh, and did I mention it's the coldest week in Chicago since I moved here? It's all about timing. Anyway, Anthony's is an authorized repair shop for my TV (an Emerson), so I called them Tuesday afternoon and explained what had happened. They wanted to take a look at it, and I wanted them to (obviously) fix it, but I don't have a car... and I can't exactly carry a 32" flat panel by myself. Anthony offered to have someone from the shop pick up the TV that night - and bring it back once it was fixed - for $40. Seemed fair to me! The TV was picked up Tuesday night and they advised me that I'd hear something within the next couple of days, and that repairs usually only take a day or two. I was very happy to get a call on Wednesday afternoon saying that the TV was fixed, the parts were covered under warranty and the repair itself was less than half of what I expected to pay. The best part? The TV could be delivered back to my house that night. Fantastic! When all was said and done, the TV was only out of commission for 2 days, I paid less than $200 total for pick-up, delivery and repair, AND Anthony was super nice to boot. Anthony's was there for me during a very dark time in my life. My 'Batman: The Animated Series' alarm clock that I've had for *years* (1994 I want to say?) died very mysteriously one fateful morning. I looked online to try and find a replacement, but no such luck. See, this particular alarm clock illuminates the bat signal and has a voice-over alarm that declares, "Gotham City is in trouble! Call Batman!" Seriously, the thing rocks and it has tons of sentimental value. So, I brought it Anthony, hoping and praying that, he could somehow save Bruce Wayne from this tragic death. I was only mocked a little bit for bringing in Batman and Anthony was very honest when he said this could take several hours and that it's $40 bucks an hour. I love Batman... but maybe not $200 bucks worth... so I asked him if he couldn't do it in two hours, halt the project, it wasn't worth it. Good news! He did fix it and in under the time he thought it would take! Batman has never looked so good. Turns out the entire circuit board had corroded. He had to rebuild the thing. Anyways, the day was saved by Anthony, and it was well worth the $80 it took to get Batman in his bad-ass, crime-fighting form. read more

I love this place. I had 2 xbox360's that were in bad shape. My husband attempted to repair himself and well lets just say it didn't work out. After a month of having my systems sit on my dining room table (in pieces) I figured it was time to get the eye sores repaired. I actually called Anthony's first to inform them of my soon delivery and how the systems were already taken apart. They gave me pricing and told me if he couldn't fix it there would be no charge. Well one of the systems was unrepairable, but he was able to get the other one up and running. And true to his word, he only charged me for one. I am not an audiophile but, I love listening to music. My legacy stereo equipment, a Denon turntable and Sansui receiver were in need of some TLC. The right channel was out on the receiver and there the tonearm on the turntable was in need of adjustment. Back in the day I would have dropped off my equipment at United Audio and a week later I could pick it up good as new. Well, those days are long gone. I have a very long standing relationship with my records. I really needed to listen the sound emanating from the grooves of those vinyl recordings. After doing an exhaustive search for turntable repair I discovered Anthony's Electronic Service on the north side of Chicago. Anthony's is an unassuming place filled with plasma TV's, turntables, receivers and assorted electronics gear. I felt right at home and Anthony immediately put me at ease. I love Anthony's Electronics. Maybe I only love them because they save my overpriced electronics from the dead... or maybe it's because they do it quickly and look out for their customers, but, I can't help it. For me they have repaired a PSP, a 36inch Tube TV (I know, why did you even bother, right?) and most recently a PS3 (the 60gig backwards compatible one you can no longer buy, our grief was enormous.) They typically have a quick tournaround, the TV repairs were not as good as my gaming electronics repairs, but they were still fairly quick. My PS3 I dropped off on Saturday at the end of the day, i got an Estimate on Monday and picked it up Tuesday. They also have a warranty on their repairs. They are very customer focused, they kept me from getting a parking ticket! They also do not take credit cards or checks. Cash only people! Why? To save you on the credit card fees! (Yes, businesses have to PAY to take your credit card. They are saving you money by taking your cash.) read more

As the IT guy for a company, one of our laptops decided to go into airplane mode then go back to normal mode every time there was a vibration on the laptop. So I decided to ripe out the internal wifi switch hoping it would always stay on. However the reverse happened and it always stayed on airplane mode. So then I decided to solder the three points which i got it to work but since it was my first time soldering something I decided to rip out the solder and redo it neatly. However when I ripped it out the solder pad came out with it. I didn't even know a solder pad existed at the time. So I put back a nice clean solder but it didn't work. So I took it to Anthony and he was able to hot wire the two points and get it to work. My company already approved the expense to issue the user a new laptop and toss the old laptop but I kept trying because in the end I knew it was something so dumb and cheap. In the end it only cost me 20 dollars. My boss was happy. WARNING: They don't accept credit cards or debit cards. So it really cost me 22.75 with atm fee. read more

I live right down the street from this place and never heard of it. I play in a band and we had a rapid fire sequence of disasters - first, our PA speaker went dead(we left it on overnight... yes very stupid). Anthony was able to fix it in time for our next show - not only that, but he charged us a reasonable price and assured us he wouldn't charge us a thing if it was beyond repair. Fast forward a few shows. A beer is spilled on my amp and dies. Cue me freaking out as I prepare to host a funeral for my beloved Marshall. Then a revelation - Anthony also does amp repair/modifications AND builds his own amps! Can he fix it? You're damn right he can fix it. And retubed it for me as well. The amp actually came back to me sounding better than I left it. Unbelievable. Not a musician? Well, maybe this will show you how awesome Anthony is. I have cats that like to chew cables. Like, the cables of my $100 gamer USB headset cables. Took it to Anthony, he spliced the cables for me, voila! Fixed forever. I'll ONLY be taking my electronics to Anthony from here on out. I found Anthony online and gave him a chance to repair a problem amp; an old Fender 30 that up and died. Anthony took his time, running the amp for long periods before contacting me to pick it up. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Anthony and his business. I had a problem with my HDTV (it would switch on and off for 10 - 15 mins. when I first turn it on) and I called Anthony and let him know what's happening. He told me to bring it in and he'll take a look at it. He estimated that I would hear from him in 3-5 days. No charge to look at it. Great! I bring it in and he tells me its a good time for him and he can look at it today. Great! I head home and before I make it he gives me a call telling me the problems and the cost. I agree to the repairs and he tells me I may be able to get my TV the same day. a few hours pass and I get a call from Anthony telling me my TV is ready. Amazing. Fast, courteous and reasonable. Anthony was awesome to work with! I brought my Pioneer PL-12D turntable to get tuned up after not being in use for decades. Anthony was able to fix it up and quickly. He was even kind enough to take a look at a small noise I heard the turntable making after I brought it back to my place. Quick and dirty: Go here to fix your electronics. Don't even worry about looking around. Just go here. So, I bought a Teac CX-310 cassette tape deck off of Ebay. The listing said it worked perfectly, the listing was a dirty dirty liar. It's Ebay and it's my own fault for buying electronic equipment without seeing it first. So, because this purchase was admittedly my own fault, I kept it and googled everywhere in Chicago that fixes electronics. Anthony's had a high rating and I had driven past it before so I figured I would give it a try. First off, Anthony is a really nice guy. There is a $20 deposit for him to look at any item (This is a very, very fair price. Trust me, these deposits can skyrocket elsewhere) and said he would take a look at it and let me know what's up by the end of the week. He called within a few days and said it needed new belts, told me the price which was again very fair, and said it may be about a week or so for him to have it done. He actually finished it in just under a week! He tested it there at his shop in front of me and everything worked great, so I took it home. Unfortunately, when I get home it started having some issues on the second side of one tape, then it essentially stopped working. This was not Anthony's fault, as he had tested it in the store in front of me and it worked fine, and it worked for one side of the tape at first when I got home, it is just these old machines just have a lot that can go wrong with them. So I called him back up and he said to bring it in. He figured out the (minor) issue and fixed it right up again for me, and it now sounds absolutely amazing. So, definitely go here to have your electronics looked at. Anthony knows what he is doing, and he stand behind his work. His prices are also very fair. I stopped into Anthony's to repair the CD Tray on my XBOX 360. This place was located not far from me and conveniently walking distance from the Sheridan red line station. The service was courteous, fast, efficient and reasonably price. The only drawback is that the place is cash only. I personally don't mind that, especially for small business type of operations, but you should be forewarned ahead of time. This will definitely be my go to repair location. I'll probably increase this rating to 5 stars after a few more trips. read more

Anthony took it for a day, found the problem in the power supply and repaired it for only $75. He took cash so I got $80 out of the ATM and was going to give him the $5 as a tip but he refused my offer 3 time. I couldn't ask for better service! We just moved to Chicago and our TV broke within the first week. I was so upset and began looking around for a reputable place to fix our TV. After looking at the reviews on Yelp, we decided to try Anthony. He promptly returned our call (after hours!) and after talking to him, he took a look and diagnosed my TV for free (I just had to bring it in to his shop). I was expecting for him to take at least 2-3 days, but he took a look at it the same day (just later that night, and it was too late to call me back), so the very next morning I heard from him. He offered to fix my TV for a reasonable price (it was the first time I've had to have a TV repaired, I'm not sure how the price compares) and I was able to pick it up that afternoon. I have a Numark record player that I've played records on daily for almost 6 years and finally, the other day, it just gave up on me and wouldn't even turn on. I called up Anthony in a panic (since I am not very knowledgeable about electronics) and he was extremely courteous over the phone. Naturally, he wasn't able to give me a quote over the phone since he didn't know what the actual problem was but he offered to have me bring the player in at my convenience for a quote. I dropped it off with him and he called me that same day and explained exactly what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix. I recently took something to another repair shop for an estimate only and the guy never called me. He didn't return my calls for two days and then I found out he fixed it without talking to me and then charged me an exorbitant amount (way more than other quotes I had gotten). Needless to say, working with Anthony was a completely different experience!! Anthony's communication is clear and concise. It is very obvious that he is skilled and experienced with all kinds of electronics. He is honest and fair. I was pleasantly surprised with the price he charged--how often does that happen nowadays?! The repair work was done faster than I anticipated and he played a record in the shop to make sure I was happy with the work and understood everything that he had done. Taking into consideration that I am inexperienced with electronics, he explained the repair clearly but without making me feel stupid. Brought a record player in that wasn't working and gave a maximum price I'd pay to have it repaired. They made an effort to fix it up but their efforts were sadly in vain. I was told that although the record player was repairable, considering it's age and the lack of available parts it would cost more than my budget to get it fixed. I was then given the option to buy a similar model which had been properly serviced for less than my maximum budget and had the backing of Anthony's Electronics. Now I'm going to go hock my old machine and see if I can recoup some of the cost :). Good experience overall. EDIT: The turntable I bought was serviced and priced well below similar models on Ebay (where the service history is questionable). I was still very upset when I wrote my initial review. It was rambling and long and included coarse language. The business owner replied to me and accused me of lying and then had my review flagged and removed as inappropriate. So I will be more concise and less offensive this time around. I had a broken PS3 (with the factory warranty sticker still on--meaning that it had never been opened.) that I was 95% sure had a particular problem. This store said they could fix it but wouldn't give me an estimate until "a technician had a look at it." They offered to open it up, diagnose the problem, and give me an estimate for free which is a very nice service. The only problem I had with this was that they would not give me even a hypothetical estimate before they looked at it. If they had done this I never would have taken it in because their price was (in my personal opinion only) too high. Frankly, I understand that the proprietor is running a business and I did not want to waste his time and force him to take something apart only to put it back together again and then not get paid. I took in the PS3, the problem was diagnosed as what I suspected and I was unwilling to pay their price because they did not offer a warranty on the repair. They put it back together and I picked it up the next day. At no time was Anthony was rude to me although over the phone he became a bit terse when I asked if he would lower his price. This is completely understandable. It was also understandable that they did not offer a warranty. The malfunction is due to a design flaw and could reoccur at any time. After retrieving the PS3 I decided to fix it myself as there are multiple tutorials on-line. Upon opening the PS3 I felt that there were a small number of screws missing and three heatsink pads missing from the interior. I am not trained in electronic repair, I simply noted these things missing compared to photos and videos of the repair process I found online. In my previous review I unfairly asserted that they had left these things out. I do not know this and I am untrained. Take from that what you will. In retrospect, I apologize to the owner for the unfair review. He responded in a comment by saying I had brought my PS3 to him "in pieces." I know that I did not because the warranty sticker was on it when I brought it in. I also know that he did not leave out any vital components because I was able to fix the playstation myself. In all fairness the only complaint I truly have the right to make is that they were unwilling to give an estimate on the probable repair. If the problem is different obviously the estimate would change. Mechanics do this, many other electronic repair shops do this but Anthony's would not. I am certain they do good work but because of the ambiguity of the pricing I would not choose to bring my electronics here for repair. read more

After a brown out my TV wouldn't power up in spite of me having a surge protector so I checked out Yelp and looked at a few TV repair shops and decided to bring in my TV to Anthony's Electronics for a free estimate. He gave me an approximate cost on the repair charge, so I agreed to fixing it but I wanted him to let me know if the price exceeds the estimate amount for approval. Anthony called me the next day and said that he diagnosed the problem and could fix it the same day, so I said go ahead and fix it,he went on to say that the price didn't go over his original estimate price which was more than fair to me. I'm glad I decided to try the repair first rather than just going out and getting a new TV. I'll be going back to Anthony's'Electronics for any future repairs. read more
