I have to give a thumbs up for Mr. Rosso. WAY UP! I needed the electricity in my basement restored, but instead of rushing to get my money, he actually gave me some advice to solve my problem first. Unfortunately, I still needed more assistance, so he came several miles to fix my situation, and let's just say I don't live in the most affluent neighborhood! BUT WAIT, THAT'S NOT ALL! He fixed a burst pipe that was "repaired" by a previous handyman,and explained the difference a shoddy and a professional handyman's work ethic, which was enlightening! The previous handyman dry walled the ceiling soon after he "repaired" the pipe, but it turned out that more time was needed to allow the repair to be stabilized before restoring the ceiling. All hype, no action! After requesting quotes for a plumbing job, I got an odd text from Mo who asked for photos and an address. Before we even spoke or agreed to a price or I agreed to hire him, he said he would be at my place the next morning. I was surprised that he assumed he should just show up without a negotiation or conversation. However, I was desperate and he had some good reviews. So despite the weird start, I decided to hire him (he seemed super-enthusiastic after all). He promised to send his worker at 8:30am the next morning. I had to get an emergency water shut-off for the ENTIRE building to accommodate this job. The next morning nobody showed up. Mo didn't bother to confirm his plumber's availability before promising he would show up (the plumber was busy with a bigger job across town). I don't typically leave bad reviews, but I also rely on Yelp for honesty. I get that sometimes unexpected things happen, but this was unreasonable. First, don't promise work before even confirming anyone is available. Second, despite multiple text exchanges never ONCE did he offer to reschedule. That was 100% unprofessional. He just ignored the whole problem. Some people had good experiences with Rosso, I had a terrible one, so I guess you will roll the dice. Maybe he will show up...maybe he wont. Needed a repair in a hurry as a piece of my siding came off my house and the wood behind it was rotted. It was at a 4 foot height so I hoped a handyman would be able to repair. I was pretty desperate to get someone in to fix my tenant's sink while I was out of town - you can see in the photos it separated from the counter and was just kind of hanging there. Mo was quick to respond and reliable, and was able to come out right away to assess the situation. I was out of town with minimal service and he was very understanding about the whole situation. He still took the time to explain what was going on with the sink transparently and honestly, and his price was extremely reasonable. The cartridge for my bathtub faucet needed replacement as it was dripping when in "off" position. Well, I read all these great reviews but unfortunately, I had a very different experience with Mo's work. He was hired to switch out an over the sink bathroom light. The job took less than 20 minutes and he charged $230.00, I felt it was a lot high for 20 mins of work, but I agreed. Anyway, he didn't center the light over the sink, and I was very unhappy with the result and let him know it. He got very defensive telling me that it was impossible to center the light over the sink, without moving the electrical box housing the wires, this would entail him putting a hole in the wall, patching the wall and that would cost an additional $180.00 to do and he didn't have the time that day and would have to come back when he was in the area. That brings the cost now to install to $410.00! I was so upset that after he left, with my mother's help, I removed the light from the wall and located the electrical box behind the fixture. I found that all I had to do was remove the 3 anchoring screws on the holding plate, move the holding plate over an inch to be centered over the sink, reinstall the screws in new hole, then rehang the light, to center over the sink. The next day, though he told me that he rarely comes to my area, he wanted to come by and center the light, and make that easy $180.00. I told him I no thanks and goodbye.
