T&D did good work, but were wildly off on their estimation for the project. They went from one of the lowest estimates I received to the highest by far by the time the project was done. And because I requested an addition to the scope (that took less than 4 hrs to complete), it gave them to freedom to charge me 8+ hrs over the estimation. They also 'accidentally' billed me for an extra $1000 of materials. All in all, went from a great experience to pretty bad one. I won't be using them again. If you choose to, just know their estimates don't mean much. read more

I hired this company to fix several safety issues that had been identified during my home inspection. Overall, the experience was good. The contractor was very friendly, and meticulously cleaned up debris from the work. There was one issue that gave him a great deal of trouble - the 3-way light switch in my kitchen had a highly irregular configuration that the electrician spent several hours troubleshooting and couldn't figure out. Eventually, the electrician gave up on finding a traditional solution, so we had one of the switches removed and converted to a battery-operated smart switch. It was a slight bummer to pay for that many hours of labor only to end up with a cheap solution that I could've done myself. After doing a bunch of follow-up research and reading, pieced together with some of the observations the electrician passed along to me, it seems we had a wiring configuration known as a California 3-way, which is a pretty unsafe & not-to-code setup. It was probably done that way to save a DIYer or handyman from running an extra wire 20+ years ago. I possibly could've saved several hundred dollars on this project if the electrician was familiar with this type of "work", but it makes sense why they weren't. I may hesitate to return to them myself as I'm sure any future electrical issues I have will have been caused by DIY nonsense, and I probably need to find a pro with experience unraveling these types of issues. But I would not hesitate recommending them to a friend. read more

Upon contacting T&D, they were able to send out an electrician who was diligent at looking through my electrical setup and was able to identify and resolve the issue. He also recommended improvements I should make in the future. I had a couple motion sensor closet lights installed and two dimmer switches installed by Rodrigo. He did good work. I supplied my own 2 dimmer switches because I already had them and I was told in an email by Simon that the motion sensor lights would be 22 each. They ended up being 40 something, but he said since I bought 2 I would get them for 30 something each. No concrete prices and the receipt doesn't itemize the materials. I found out later on that one of the dimmers is getting warm in a few minutes by just having it on 50% brightness with only 6 can lights around 40-60 wattage. I e-mailed to ask about the price discrepancy and the dimmer switch. He said the price I was given was only a quote. I don't have a problem with that if that's what I was told. But he said it was offered at that price, nothing about a quote. I'm also fairly sure the price didn't change from under a week prior to 1.5-2x more or that they didn't have that in their inventory already. For the dimmer switch they said since it wasn't theirs they would have to charge the full minimum rate to come back and look at it when I feel that could've been checked while they were here. That seems like the thing to do to make sure it's working properly before they leave. They replied and said they couldn't do it by the half hour, but they can change the minimum rate from 142 to 124. Not sure how that was calculated, it was basically no change. The numbers on everything seem arbitrary especially when they said the materials are "40 something" and turned to "30 something" because I bought two. read more

The cost of this visit was later applied to the work performed. Even more impressive than the communication was the effort that went into completing the project on time and on budget. Our electrician was Rodrigo. He worked 12 straight hours on the first day he arrived without taking a lunch to ensure we would have power restored within the same day. He was very knowledgable and answered questions in a way a person without any electrical background could understand. The communication was top notch. From price quote to the actual work, T&D electrical was very responsive and knowledgeable. The project we needed help with was to install three ceiling fixtures (including taking down old ones) and replacing two smoke detectors. The staff (Shaina) who helped me with price estimate and scheduling was very good at confirming what's provided vs needed. She also helped manage COI quickly as our HOA requires it for all contractor works. Rodrigo was the electrician who came to our place and did the work.
