Skyline Electric did an outstanding job replacing the electrical panel in my condo. From the initial estimate to the final inspection, the entire process was professional, efficient, and well organized. Arrived on time, explained each step clearly, and completed the work with great attention to detail. Replacing an electrical panel is a major job, but they made it as smooth and stress-free as possible. They kept the work area clean, answered all my questions, and made sure everything was tested and functioning properly before they left. I was especially impressed by their expertise, communication, and respect for my home. If you're looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy electrical contractor, I highly recommend Skyline Electric. Their quality of work and customer service exceeded my expectations. Did I mentioned the price was very reasonable? read more

We have used them twice and they have been fantastic and reasonably priced. Kent is knowledgeable, professional, and responsive. Would definitely recommend! read more

They were excellent. I needed all new light fixtures and switches but I didn't know where to start. They took me to a lighting store and helped me pick what I needed and then installed it all for me quickly and efficiently. They were able to get into places that others haven't been able to so that they could fix it the right way instead of putting a bandaid on a shortcut a previous electrician took. Very reasonably priced. Didn't charge for the time spent shopping for fixtures. Would use again. read more

Kent was great! He came out for a last minute electrical fuse blown and was able to quickly work around our condo unit and building to find the issues and get our power back on. I luckily don't have much experience with electrical issues/work, but since there were no materials or major labor needed (building fuse just needed turning back on) they just charged me the "service fee" which was $185. The price to pay for doing my own DIY light switch replacement overall, would use again for other electrical jobs due to quick communication, Kent def knows his stuff and the downtown/condo working, and the flexibility on arrival. read more

Had several different companies out to find the cause of a short in outlets and light switch in den. All the companies that were out could not find the cause, and costing me several thousands and being told they would have to retire my entire house at a huge cost. I was referred to Kent at Skyline. When he got there within less than 45 minutes he had figured out what was wrong and had it fixed and it didn't cost me very much. I wish I'd have called him first as he did a great job and cleaned up after he was done read more

Can't endorse Kent and Jeanette enough. Kent installed a 40A induction line in my condo. The work was far beyond what either of us expected because the piping in the unit was terrible and took more than a day. But Kent said he has never left a customer hanging, and he came back on the weekend to finish the work so we weren't without kitchen power. Really appreciate the positive attitude and perseverance through a very, very hard job. If you have difficult electrical work, Kent has over 50 years of experience and can make it happen. Strongly recommended! read more

easy to schedule, great service, Kent was awesome. even helped me vacuum after he was done installing our fixture.

Wow, wow, wow!! Knocked it out of the park!! Kent came in here with a CAN DO attitude and mindset, determined to get the job done and make it happen after hearing that I had several failed attempts from other companies that said it couldn't be done (unless I pulled up the floor or did work on the ceiling). On last-minute notice, Kent saved the day and made it happen. I now have upgraded electrical and new wiring that will support a new 220v washer/dryer, which is now the standard for most washer/dryer unit stackable designs, especially for apartments and condos (my old one at 110v is now at peace...out with the old, in with the new). After 6 weeks with no dryer and 1 week with no washer...I couldn't be more grateful to Kent. I cannot recommend him and Skyline Electric enough! So hands-on and awesome! The Skyline Electric team, including Paul and Jeanette, were amazing as well! The overall teamwork between the team and customer communications is excellent. This company really gets it. Customer service, professionalism, kindness, attention to detail, and communication are TOP NOTCH. For any electric needs, make this your first call! You won't regret it. Kent has done electrical work for me before that was successful. That is why I contacted Skyline again to replace a circuit breaker panel. The old panel was located in a hall closet with bi-fold doors and not enough space to work without removing the door. Kent did not want to take door off track because the bldg is old and it would be difficult to put it back. I said ok and went down to Hospitality Room in bldg while he worked. When I returned to my condo, Kent had cut a hole in my customized closet door to install the new panel. He never called me to discuss other options or get my ok to cut the door. The maintenance staff may have been able to put the door back on track or maybe a carpenter. Now I will be out hundreds of dollars to replace a door that is not standard size because of his decision! read more

These guys are fantastic, if you're in need of an electrician in Chicago call Skyline. From the start Jeanette was extremely helpful in diagnosing over the phone and providing some instructions on what to do immediately (over a long holiday weekend at 9pm). Within a day we were able to get Kent out and his service was top notch; very knowledgeable and highly efficient. I'd recommend them to anyone in the city and they will be my go-to for any electrical needs moving forward! read more

Excellent service. I received a rapid response from them after two electricians recommended by my building didn't respond at all. If you are looking for an electrician to work in your downtown Chicago home, call these folks first! read more

Another job well done! When my dog started pulling out the pins holding a cable to the wall (no clue why the previous owners did that), I panicked and called Skyline. They fit me into their very busy schedule and got the cord in the wall the next week. They also updated my painted-over outlets, which look a million times better. Thanks much David and Tom for all your help! read more

We needed to get a ceiling fan installed ASAP. Our vendor gave us a list of "recommended installers." We called and left messages to six electricians from that list. No one returned our call. Then we called SKYLINE ELECTRIC LLC. A real human being picked up the phone. That same afternoon an electrician came to our home and installed the fan for a VERY REASONABLE PRICE. The fan works perfectly. Not only that, but the electrician was a really nice guy!! We highly recommend SKYLINE ELECTRIC for any household electrical needs. read more

We hired Skyline to install recessed lighting in our 2 loft condo. The job was a bit unique due to wood panel ceiling, but Kent and his guys were excited for the challenge. They ended up installing 16 Halo smart home cans and hung a pendant over our kitchen island. The job took 2 days. Skyline is a 1st class operation. Kent does a great job running the crew and his guys were real pros. They included me in every decision along the way, and they always took the extra time to make sure everything was perfect. Jeanette does a great job with communication and scheduling. We had to make several reschedules due to my work schedule and they were very accommodating. This is by far the best money we have spent on our home. read more

Hands down the best electrician service I have ever had in Chicago. Jeannette was amazing. I contacted more than a dozen Electric and HVAC companies in Chicago to install a Mysa Smart Thermostat for my 240v electric ceiling heater in my condo. Only Skyline was willing to try. From my first contact with Jeanette, I knew that Skyline was my only chance of getting this installed. Kent came out to do the install and had never even seen a Mysa Thermostat before. An hour later, he successfully completed the installation and I could not be happier. Excellent work at a reasonable price. Michael K. read more

Skyline Electric - Success! - Electricians Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Really great team. I get a bit nervous hiring contractors, electrician, plumbers, etc because I never know if they're just going to pull a bait and switch, But there were no issues here. I called and had a quick chat about what I needed done and was given a reasonable and realistic quote. The job was completed within the estimated timeframe. Quick and efficient and cleaned up after themselves. I passed their names along to friends already and will plan to call them again if I ever need more work done in the future. read more

I'm indebted to Skyline Electric, again. I had an appliance delivery for a new washer and dryer that had to be rescheduled because there was not a 240V outlet available despite having a working laundry unit (bizarre, huh). I called on the Saturday of a holiday weekend and Jeanette was immediately able to accommodate me for Wednesday after I explained the situation to her and Kent. Tomasz did a great job per usual, in less than ideal circumstances (we had to move the existing laundry unit out of the space). Their rates are incredibly fair and their service is genuinely top-notch -- I'm incredibly happy and impressed by their work. Skyline Electric will always be my first call for any electrical project. read more

OH MY GOD! There are honest people left in the world! I had a tenant with no power and had flipped every breaker with no luck, so I called Skyline because they had great reviews and they dispatched Kent within five minutes (awesome right?) but it gets better - Kent asked me some questions and he resolved the issue over the phone. I felt obliged to pay them but Kent refused and when I called the office, they refused payment too. These are good people. They have a new loyal customer in me. read more

Certain things happen when you purchase a home. Things break down and there are some odds and ends you want to tweak. Sometimes you get on your high and mighty horse, thinking you are Tim the Toolman, and try to do these little home projects by your lonesome. You buy the tools, the drill, the electric meter, and hit the internet ready to take on home improvement projects like it's your day job that you've been doing forever. YouTube can be great but it definitely doesn't prepare you for everything. So I may or may not have blew out the entire power in my apartment on a Sunday early afternoon after sparks started shooting out of the switch I was replacing. Seemed easy but I managed to screw it up colossally. And no, it wasn't just a switch in my fuse box. I called a few places and most weren't willing to come until Monday. The other one who was willing to come wanted to charge $250 just to show up and he was unprofessional on the phone. The thing that stood out about Skyline was the professionalism and honesty. Jeanette was fielding my calls / texts, and acting as a broker between myself and the electricians. She expressed genuine concern for the issue and seemed determine to help me out. I received a call back from one of the guys and they wanted to see if they could talk me through a fix over the phone. It ended up being more than what he initially thought but the first thing he said was "I don't want you to have to pay for this if we can do it over the phone". I thought that was awesome. Kent ended up coming out and helped me get back online. It took a little bit of exploring my building to figure out the overarching issue but he definitely kept me at ease. He also replaced the switch for me and ended up giving me a piece of advice on something with track lighting that I was about to pay $1,000 to replace. I just felt like Kent is an honest and hardworking business owner. I am keeping his number in the front of my "virtual" rolodex for sure. Lesson 1: Never screwing with the electricity again Lesson 2: Call Skyline when electric work in needed read more

I needed an electrical panel to be replaced to bring it up to code. An extremely knowledgeable and friendly electrician, Kent, showed up on time and installed the unit. He was careful as far as protecting the floor of course with a dropcloth. He was extremely efficient. When he opened the panel for the first time, I was amazed that anyone could possibly know which wire goes where. Kent assured me that this was an easy task. He did a great job. Thank you, Kent. Excellent. We had six battery operated blinds on windows that went up about 15ft that we wanted converted to hardwired operation. 4 dealers for the blinds said they couldn't help us, the manufacturer didn't respond for a month and only asked if we ended up finding someone to do it because they weren't able to, and other quotes came in 90% higher with zero detail on what they would do. Kent stepped up to the challenge and gave us a super slick and cost effective result. Jeanette is very responsive, makes scheduling super easy, and did a great job relaying our needs to Kent. Kent is a whiz with wires. After he and Tomasz brainstormed a bit on the best way to go about it, Kent explained what they were going to do in great detail and got to work. The guy has decades of experience and has seen everything, including this, so I was confident that the job would get done well. I can now open and close my blinds, and I can have my morning coffee in the living room without sweating to death. If you want great, honest work done, call Skyline. read more

I had ANOTHER superior experience with Skyline Electric. I was again impressed with their honesty and thoughtfulness. They are great electricians, handle the administrative details accurately and efficiently and they take the time to make sure the customer is happy with the outcome! When I called (after reading YELP reviews) I gave info on what problems I had (along with what I thought needed to be done). I was surprised to receive a call from the owner. He wanted to work with me over the phone to possibly resolve the issue (for free!) and eliminate the need for a service call. Who does that?? We weren't able to fix it, so his guys came out. Very professional and friendly. We still had problems with an old fixture. The owner came to work with his crew, but didn't charge me for this extra time. My bill was very reasonable and all matters were fixed. Skyline is now "my" electrician. read more

Had a great experience with Skyline! Highly recommend. Jeanette is quick to respond and communicates via phone and text (makes things super easy!). We needed to have a 220 volt installed for an appliance and two plugs repaired. I had reached out almost a year prior for the same issue (we had waited to get the appliance & to have the work done) and she quickly remembered exactly who I was & the background on the project. She honored the original price quoted even though their prices had raised in the past year. We live in a vintage building so any work behind the walls is complicated & never easy. Both electricians were professional & efficient not to mention patient with all the issues that came up. Super pleased with the work and the company! read more

This is one of the BEST businesses I have dealt with, not just electrical but in general. Service was outstanding. We were able to have the work scheduled almost immediately from my first call. They came out the following morning, and they arrived early! Electricity was out to half our place, and they fixed the problem within 20 minutes. The price is exactly as they quoted, and it was a fair price. I give Skyline Electric my HIGHEST review possible! I am really impressed with every aspect of their business. My experience until today has been very positive, both for my family, friends, clients and anyone I've referred to this company. I have sent no less than 3 people to them and my family has used them for both smaller and larger projects on no fewer than 3-4 occasions. And then today happened. Skyline was called out in November or early December to install gutter heaters into my 97 year old grandmother's 4-flat. The system was installed, though they ended up staying late because the gutter heaters kept blowing fuses (she has an older electrical panel). They managed to stabilize the system temporarily and we thought there wouldn't be a problem in the future. As soon as the January ice storm hit, the gutter heaters started blowing all of the fuses again. No problem! I called Skyline but this time they sent Kent. While nice at first, his attitude quickly changed later on. I'm the type of person who looks to professions when I have questions and I rely on them for education and information. I asked Kent some questions and he just seemed annoyed. Upon his return from the supply warehouse, I asked him if I should turn the gutter heaters off in an effort to make things a little easier for him. His response was to call me an a$$hole and then tell me that it's "always the person behind you that is telling you how to run your f#%king business even though you've been doing it for 35 years and have '5 licenses.'" Excuse me? I've done nothing but try to help make things easier for you and if I've had a question, I have asked it (as any consumer would). I don't know everything and I'm hiring you for your time as well as your professional efforts. It's not too much to ask that you be somewhat pleasant during the process. On top of this, Kent did not wear a mask. At the time (01-13-22), we were in the middle of the pandemic and at the peak of the problems with the Omicron variant. Regardless of what you may think of COVID-19, he knew that the owner was a 97 year old. The bottom line is that the job wasn't properly completed back in December and the job wasn't completed today, either. Kent, after his tirade/hissy fit, decided to leave the job site without closing the roof hatch that he opened to examine the electric gutter heaters on the roof. My 97 year old grandmother was left to find someone with a ladder who was willing to help close up the hatch so that water and ice didn't cause hazardous conditions for her tenants. It's a shame that I will no longer be recommending this company due to the unprofessional actions of their owner. They had been great up until this point. Today is simply not something I am willing to overlook. read more

Skyline Electric - Kent was so eager to leave quickly that he left the roof hatch open and the 97 year old owner to deal with finding someone to help... - Electricians Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Hands down not only some of the best electricians, but best workers that I've hired. The whole team was fast, punctual, detailed oriented and even cleaned up. They are the best. We had two water pipes freeze during the polar vortex in our laundry room because we had no heat. I called Jeanette at Skyline to ask if they could install some baseboard electric heaters. Kent and his team came out on Friday and Kent told me I would have had to buy 4 of these baseboard heaters if I was going to get them to work. Instead, he realized right then and there that the better option was to heat the space like a garage and install a garage heater. I did not even know these existed, but looked them up and sure enough that is what we did. He did not charge for their time on Friday to come out and look at everything. Alex, who is also awesome, came out Saturday to get everything setup so that once we bought the heater, it would be really quick to install. The heater came on Monday and Alex was able to come out first thing Wednesday morning and hook it up. On the lowest setting and close to the lowest heat level it keeps the entire space warm, and I have not even insulated well yet. Kent is one of the few remaining tradesmen who I have always found to be honest, caring, and wanting to make sure the job is done right and that the right job is done. I wish the rest of the contractors we worked with had his integrity, but at least we will always have a great electrician read more

Can't speak highly enough of Kent, Alex and Jeanette. Everything from the coordination from Jeanette, to the whole installation process for our smart doorbell was handled so well. Kent and Alex had to deal with a defective doorbell and an alarm system that made things complicated. When it turned out there was an issue with the doorbell, Kent went out of his way to come back and fix the issue. This was at the height of Covid, and they were all super respectful too, on top of doing a great job! read more

These guys are great. I hired Skyline to fix the front and back lights for our 3 story building in Lincoln Park a couple of years ago, and had them work on multiple things for my own condo today. They are all very professional and knowledgeable! Both Kent from a couple of years ago, and Tom with his "buddy boy" helper :) who were here today, did a great job. And when Tom did not have a tool he needed to cut the kitchen island cabinet, so that it would not crack, he called the office and had the right tools delivered very quickly. Jeanette, who is the owner (i think) and handles appointments, is awesome too. Highly recommend this company! read more

I have to say, that was the most off putting conversation I've ever had with someone. The receptionist who answers the phone at Skyline Electric should not have a job. I called and asked for an electrician to come out for a few projects at our new condo. While the conversation started nicely, it only went downhill. We have just a few short projects, yet she recommended 2 electricians because "they don't want to just hang at our house all day". I understand and that's fine, however, I was told I would also be charged more $$ to have both electricians, when just 1 could easily handle the work. I proceeded to ask if we could just have one electrician (since this was easily the cheaper option) and she said, "well aren't you calling an electrician because you can't do the work yourself?" Yes, we are, however I don't need to pay more for this service if I don't need to. She was so condescending and rude I would never recommend Skyline Electric. Her attitude is unacceptable. When I kindly offered to call someone else and she said "I wish you would" and hung up on me. Wow, failing at customer service. read more
