we hired Chicago Chimney company to repair our chimney as well as our fireplace. The concrete on the chimney repair is crumbling and deteriorating. We contacted the company and they told us they would send the guy back out to repair the work, but they never did. Then they told us that the guy Mario, who did the work does not work for them anymore. We ask them to send someone else to repair our chimney . They stopped taking our phone calls and would not answer our text messages. I recommend anyone needing chimney work to stay away from this company. read more

Chicago Chimney Service - Deteriorating concrete on the chimney - Chimney Sweeps Near Me

couple of years after sweeping service and a new chimney cap I come to learn that they completely butchered my upper section of my chimney making it unserviceable. now I'm several thousands of dollars out of pocket to fix what they did. Cleaning was fine, but would not recommend for repairs. read more

We hired ChimCare for what should have been a routine inspection and sweep, and instead ended up with a serious safety incident and very poor workmanship. Their technician left the gas running before ignition, causing a fireball to shoot out of the fireplace while I (and our dog) were sitting next to it. It singed the worker's hair and melted his phone case/phone, this easily could have resulted in a serious injury or property damage. It also became clear during the visit that the technicians didn't know how to operate one of our fireplaces. They had to text photos to someone else for instructions and still could not get the second fireplace working (which we later discovered is controlled by a simple wall switch). Despite the lack of safety and technical competence, we were charged a 50% mid-service up charge for "deep cleaning" sweep, with no clear explanation of what that covered beyond the original inspection & sweep service, all while we were trying to calm our dog, who was scared from the fireball. The stone on one fireplace needed crack repair, but the workmanship was sloppy. Sealant was accidentally smeared onto our marble facade on the outside of the fireplace and not cleaned up, and the color of the sealant doesn't match the stone in our fireplace. None of this was disclosed beforehand, and now it will require further repair to fix. We reached out via phone and email multiple times asking for a resolution and gave the company every opportunity to address the issues. It has been over a month with zero response from management. We are now having to dispute the charge through our credit card company. Based on the safety risk, lack of technical knowledge, the questionable mid-service up-charge, and complete lack of accountability or care to resolve these issues with us, I would not recommend this company. read more

Chicago Chimney Service - First fire of the year. Firebox looks great!! Thanks again Mario! - Chimney Sweeps Near Me

I had Chicago Chimney Service out to do some work 2 years ago was happy with their service. At that time as part of the work, they installed a chimney cap. The chimney cap had a lifetime guarantee according to the service agreement I was provided. During a recent storm, said chimney cap blew off. I sent 2 Yelp requests to Chicago Chimney Service about it and got no response. I then called and left a message about it and again, no response. So no, I don't recommend this company as if anything goes wrong down the road, they will not stand by their warranties. I hate leaving any negative review, but other people need to be aware that this company will not stand by their work in the long run, so look for a more reputable company from the get go. read more

Toni was a wonderful communicator. Workers cleaned and even showed me where to change log ignition from remote to wall switch. Zelle preferred. read more

FIVE STARS Chicago Chimney Service Inc. is hands-down the best in the business! From the first call to the final inspection, their team was professional, punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable. They walked me through every step of the process and explained what needed to be done with complete transparency, no upselling, just honest service. Their craftsmanship was top-tier. You can tell they take pride in their work; the tuckpointing was flawless, my chimney cap looks brand new, and the liner installation was smooth and efficient. On top of that, they cleaned up after themselves thoroughly. What truly stood out was their customer service. Every technician was respectful, courteous, and patient with my questions. You don't often find a company that delivers both quality workmanship and genuine care for its clients. I'd recommend Chicago Chimney Service Inc. to anyone in Illinois looking for reliable, skilled, and trustworthy chimney experts. This is how a business should be run! Chicago Chimney Service - My fireplace after a cozy fire! - Chimney Sweeps Near Me

Mario led his team in our complete chimney repair- replacing the flue liner, redoing insulation, and installing a much needed upper damper. He was efficient, communicative, and was meticulous with the details. They even went the extra mile to leave it looking better than it ever had before by adding black protective coating to the interior brick. Not only do I feel like Mario made our wood burning fireplace safer for my family, but he was very thorough on assessing other non-urgent needs that that could be looked at another time. Will be using him again- trust him and his attention to detail Truly am appreciative and would highly recommend read more

These guys are just awesome. Mario and the team always do a great job on sweeps, annual inspections & performing any necessary repairs. I'm a very detail oriented person, and I've been impressed with their commitment to doing excellent work and answering any questions I may have. Toni is also wonderful and a good communicator in you getting you set up for your appointment. As someone who lives in a condo building and does annual inspections on my wood burning fireplace, Chicago Chimney Service is my absolute go-to and I cannot recommend them enough! read more

Fire place looked great did an inspection and said chimney was good to go thank you for the service

They did some work on our chimney in 2023 for about $900 based on their inspection. We burned half a chord that winter. Called them back for an inspection in 2024, and the same issues that they repaired the previous year failed inspection. After insisting that they come to fix their own work, they ghosted me. read more

Awesome first experience...highly recommend to anyone looking for this service. The owner and his assistant were nice and professional, they were done in a reasonable time, VERY tidy and I believe the owner is a genuinely honest man. We recently moved into a house that needs a lot and he could have easily sold us several things and didn't. We had a cleaning and inside painting and he made it look new ..impressive. We will contact them again first next chimney need! read more

Another scammer! Had Chicago Chimney out to "sweep" my chimney. Mario came out and spent literally 10mins with a shop vac inside my fireplace. He then showed my wife a video and some pictures and told her that we had "multiple gaps, voids, and irregular surfaces inside the smoke chamber", that are considered a fire hazard and needed to be repaired - at an estimate cost of $500. I contacted our go-to for chimney and masonry repairs - ELITE CHIMNEY - who did some work on our chimney and firebox a few years ago. Lenny came out (for FREE) and immediately told me that there are some superficial cracks that are not a fire hazard and not an emergency to repair. He recommended that we do nothing right now except enjoy our fireplace! He suggested re-doing the mortar between the bricks in the firebox in the next 2yrs or so, and possibly adding a stainless steel damper to the top of the chimney for better efficiency - though that is not necessary. If you need work done on your chimney or fireplace steer clear of this company - they are dishonest scammers. read more

My chimney needed some dire help. I'm sharing my before and after pictures. As you can see it was in terrible shape. We were so happy with their work, we had them come back and lay a slab down for us to the side of our garage. We will be contracting again as need some tuck pointing to be done to the house also. Highly highly recommend Mario and his team. Fast, clean, and efficient! read more

I learned a lot of things from my Dad-- How to be fair, how to work really hard and do more than is asked of you, how to be generous: I did not learn that if you have a fireplace and use it regularly, even if you always use hardwood, you will need to have it cleaned regularly. So after twenty years of making modest hardwood fires, I started to have a cough. My sister came to visit and even being in the living room (no fire) made her cough and gave her a runny nose. Thinking, okay, I'll have my chimney cleaned, I called Chicago Chimney. Toni was nice and said that Mario was really good at his work, and it would be $150. When he came, pleasant, personable, and clearly competent, I could see that being near my fireplace was making his nose run. I told him about my sister. Might need more that just a cleaning, he said. He shone his flashlight up a short ways into the fireplace. "I call that black glass", he said. What is it? I said. My English is not so good, he said, underestimating his excellent skills. Google clarified. I found out that bubbles of "black glass" represent the third stage of a serious creosote problem-- first soot, then tar that is runny, then the glass part, beautiful and perfectly ready for a chimney fire. One thing about my dad, he prepared me to know a good person when I saw him. Mario said that he was going to have to come back with material and brushes that could dissolve the creosote. The next day, when forty or fifty pounds of mortar on the chimney lining just fell off piece by piece once the creosote was not holding it all together, he explained that another day and another step would be involved, putting a mixture of protective covering over a now very porous surface, insulation, sealant. (As it happened, he did this himself by crawling up into the tight black space and painting it on. The dilemma of having a helper who was unwilling to do it was a problem he would deal with later. He took the guy off to another job and came back. It was this part, where he was a matter of fact about doing the exceptionally nasty work, and understanding about the kid's inability to do it-- he just said "last winter I was doing this every day." I want to put a sign up in my yard for him and his professional and humane work. He charged me $900 for the cleaning part and $1100 for the resealing part. Interestingly, this is less than $150/ year for 20 years, not even counting inflation; I recommend him wholeheartedly for yearly (or every-other-year sweeping) and for the whole cleaning and sealant job if you are someone who didn't know how bad it could get. He does tuckpointing too. The warmth and charm apparently come free. read more

Great Service! Mario and his crew came out were very professional and honest! Toni is a gem in the office! You won't be disappointed!!

We were advised by our furnace service person that we should have our chimney liner and cap checked. Some source of water was causing rust in our exhaust pipes. Mario from Chicago Chimney Service came out and suggested that we get a larger chimney lining pipe and better attachme pipes from our furnace and our water heater. The service men were prompt, efficient, great problem solvers, and very professional. The work was very well done. The cost was very reasonable. This is a good company I would hire again without hesitation. In fact, they told me they do all manner of brick work, so I am asking them next to provide an estimate on replacing a ground level window with glass blocks. read more

I hired Chicago Chimney to clean my dryer vent as I heard birds continually flying into it and to put up a guard to prevent them from flying in. Originally, the owner had to reschedule due to an emergency but gave me notice in advance and it was no issue at all. He rescheduled and showed up on time. He was professional and asked how I would like to handle it if birds were currently in there and may have built a nest. He was very concerned for the birds safety which I thought was nice and humane of him. Luckily, no birds or a nest were in there. He said the birds were probably flying in and out to get warm because there was bird poop present. I didn't know what kind of guard to get so I didn't buy it in advance. He waited patiently as I drove to Menards in my area to get some. He got it all cleaned up and then put the dryer vent guard on. We had strong winds the next couple of days so the screen on the guard flew off. I contacted the business and they came out right away to take care of it for no additional charge and he even put some adhesive on it to get it to stay. Great service and I'd definitely use them again! Thank you! read more

I bought a new house and knew it needed some work including the chimney. I asked Mario of Chicago Chimney for an estimate. Mario and me walked all around the house. He offered to not only tuck point my chimney but fix all the areas of my house where the mortar had worn away and where previous owner had put in a mortar that was a different color and sloppily done. What a huge difference. It looks so much better all the way around. Mario looked into my fireplace and let me know it is safe. I feel so grateful to have Mario and his team put in so much effort into my house and for such a great price. Also Mario let me know I can keep in touch with him for the upkeep of my fireplace like cleaning it and any other questions I have. I never had a fireplace before and I feel like I have someone who isn't going to take advantage of me cause I don't know about fireplaces. Thanks Mario. read more

We recently moved into a vintage mid-rise building in Lakeview that has a beautiful limestone, wood-burning fireplace. Our condo association arranges for annual fireplace and chimney inspections, but it wasn't scheduled to be performed until December. When we bought our unit, the building inspector suggested we have a thorough inspection done before we use the fireplace. Eager to get cozy around the fireplace, we didn't want to wait until December. I researched chimney and fireplace cleaning services and contacted Chicago Chimney. They sent a crew out two days later. Miguel and Anthony were thorough, professional, and very pleasant. They identified serious cracks that needed repair in the firebox and we quickly agreed to have the repairs done. They completed their work today--again thoroughly, pleasantly, and professionally. We arranged everything through Toni, who was also exceedingly easy and pleasant to work with.
