They were quick to respond to my yelp request and suggested I book an initial meeting via their calendly link where they would come out and meet in person for a project discussion. I booked a time, received a confirmation, arranged my schedule to be home and no one showed. I have no problem if things come up and people need to reschedule or if they are going to be late, just communicate. I contacted them when they didn't show up and never received a response. Not a good impression at all. Maybe you'll have better luck, but if they don't show up for you, don't be surprised. Update: They called 2 min after this review was posted to apologize for not contacting me that they were going to miss the appointment which i appreciated. read more

I wish I took before photos but here are the after photos. Turned my junky/muddy side yard into a beautiful addition to the yard with pea gravel. Also put new mulch in the front and did a great job pruning and removing all the weeds. Very reasonably priced, hard working bunch. We will be using them again. read more

We had not worked with any landscapers before, and started our search on Yelp. Also our first time using Yelp's feature to request quotes from multiple companies at once. Artem, from Chicago Landscaping, was the first to respond (via email). Our initial correspondence was over email. We told Artem upfront our availability, budget, and what services we needed. We needed debris clean up, weeding, and tree and bush trimming. Artem offered to do a survey without charge, provide his quote, and let us decide on whether to move forward. We were in contact with other landscapers leading up to our appointment with Artem but could not come to an agreement with any of the others, either for budget reasons or poor communication. One landscaper who surveyed our planter and deck, quoted services and supplies we didn't need or questioned. For example, this same landscaper quoted, "lawn cutting" and "premium mulch". We don't have a lawn, and we're not given an explanation for "premium mulch" when asked. Before Artem arrived, he called to confirm our interest in his survey and his estimated arrival time. Artem took a few minutes to assess our 10'x23' planter and deck area. Afterwards, he explained what his labor would include, and provided a written price quote for the labor and mulch. He also showed us the mulch to make sure we approved. On the same day, we gave Artem the go-ahead to start working. Artem and his associate brought in their own equipment and supplies. In about an hour, Artem let us know he was done and ready for our inspection. We were initially hesitant to point anything out but he encouraged us to and continued to work for another half hour to our satisfaction. Unfortunately we didn't take pictures before to show how much Artem and his associate cleaned up, but it was a complete transformation from overgrown weeds and debris (from the fall foliage and seasonal fall out). All the plants depicted were there before, but now you can actually see them. Almost a year has passed since we worked on our planter and deck. Now it looks decongested and manicured. Artem also bagged and took with him all debris and natural waste. Artem is very responsive by email, text, and phone call. We compensated him using Chase, Zelle Payment. He also accepts Venmo.  We're incredibly happy with the results and look forward to working with Artem again. read more

I had an open house showing on a Sunday and needed to hire out the fallen leaf removal for the property. I didn't realize the need until the Saturday afternoon the day before. I called Chicago Landscaping after seeing they had a fast response time on Yelp. Sure enough they answered my call, offered to come out that day for an estimate, and guaranteed the job would be done before noon on Sunday. The guys did a great job, removing the leaves from the lawn and the planted beds. They were punctual and had the job done well before the requested noon timing. The pricing was fair for such a short notice on a Sunday morning as well. I would definitely recommend them, it's hard to find contractors who are responsive, punctual, and follow through on what they promise. read more

I was hopeful that I could use these folk for ongoing maintenance as well as some improvements but that wasn't meant to be I guess. I spoke with Artem in person to review the requirements and to provide a quote. All good until I asked him when I would receive a proposal. "Possibly tonight or tomorrow ", was his answer. The time had passed and no proposal was forthcoming. So I waited a couple days and inquired again. "You'll receive it at the end of today", was his reply. End of day came and went and still no proposal. Mind you, I'm not an impatient man, tell be next week or whenever and I can wait , but do as you say. I called again and got the proposal in a few hours. All good so far. The proposal allowed for modifications so I responded with a couple of questions and clarification points. And you guessed it, no reply. At least Artem was consistent - unreliable and unresponsive. I wii find someone who will provide the basics to earn my business. I use Chicago Landscaping primarily for two things: (1) annual snow removal services and (2) occasional spring/Fall cleanup (leaves removal, weed overgrowth, remulching, etc.). On all of these fronts, the team is fantastic! In particular, I'd like to highlight the snow removal services. We've had some bad luck with this over the last few years, with other companies doing a bad job or not showing up entirely. This *never* happened with Chicago Landscaping - they showed up each time it snowed and did a fantastic job. If there were ever any issues, Artem was quick to respond. I bought a new house recently and have been gradually getting to different small projects. One that grew swiftly out of control was a heavily weeded patch, an old boxed area at the back of the yard that was unsightly and needed clearing out. I connected with Artem and quickly the work was priced and scheduled. Along with new sod installation and clearing the area, we also had a general yard cleanup and some small tree stumps removed. Asked for an estimate for doing some garden work, including overgrown weeds (some had turned into trees). Scheduling a time to come see the work was easy (5 stars) and I asked for an itemized job quote so that I could prioritize shrub removal and disposal with options to complete other work, if affordable. Nice work itemizing (5 stars). Didn't flinch at $75/hr, but the pricing came back way high (i.e. too many hours to do simple removals - zero stars). No response to my comment on high estimates. (Zero stars). Had my brother-in-law stop by and in 90 minutes we did almost all the requested work, saving me many hundreds of dollars, according to the quotes. (Brother-in-law: 5 stars). read more

I hired Chicago Landscaping to help with cleaning up our yard that was completely overgrown with weeds. Artem gave me a very reasonable quote, came over the same day that I approved the quote, and did a phenomenal job. There wasn't a weed in sight, and all the debris (weed cuttings, sticks and leaves from the fall, etc.) were removed. They went above and beyond and even trimmed weeds under my deck and removed dead leaves from the alley behind my house. I will be continuing their service for monthly maintenance. read more

At first I enjoyed working with them and, initially, it appeared they did a good job. However, I expressed a concern that the sod they were installing looked dried out. I was told this is normal and usually does not become an issue. Despite sufficient watering over the next few weeks, the sod never took and other areas also began to die. The lead contractor guaranteed that the sod would take and they would replace if it didn't. I reached out about 2 months after install, trying to give the sod a good chance to take root and bounce back, to report the bad areas. The contractor did not replace the sod, but quoted me a new job. Did not honor the guarantee. read more

I needed to have the lawn mowed, edged, and cleaned up quickly before a weekend event with many family and friends using our house as a base. We had just moved in and kept thinking we would buy a mower and do it, but time had run out and the yard and lawn were a mess. I didn't know the neighborhood or whom to call. I found and contacted Artem via yelp on Monday and he responded on Tuesday. Though I was asking for a quick turn around he said they could come that Friday. That was a relief! On Friday he let me know the crew was running late and I panicked, as guests were starting to arrive. Artem reassured me that they would come, and sure enough the lawn was done on Friday as promised, finishing in the evening but in time. The lawn looked great. The price was reasonable.
