The guys really worked hard cleaning out our old and cluttered basement for our store and apartment. I embarked on a spontaneous dig out of the dead grass and weeds in my backyard after finding that Home Depot sells sod by the roll. I was happily dumping my extra dirt into my city of Chicago trash cans in my alley when after filling 1 and a half cans I realized... oh no these are WAY WAY WAY too heavy for any human on the trash team to lift and we will make enemies of our trash guys and these will sit here rendering our trash cans unusable for... weeks? High bid on a job, but they could go fast so I hired them. For the bid $4750 on a 1000sqft gut I expected the crew, and we agreed in our written scope of work, to get every nail and seal areas where debris should not fall. What went well: - They showed up - They removed the bulk debris as agreed. What did not go well: - Failed to close ducts, even after I flagged it. The intake plenum to my furnace was full of debris. - Nails were left in many places. I had to spend 2 hours removing them after payment. - One of the crew smoked in my house! I had to ask him to go outside. - No ownership of the crew. At the end of the job the owner told me to run his crew to complete the job. It was 7PM and they should have just come for walk down the next day. If I was going to run his crew what am I paying him for? - Pushy about payment and no final walkdown with the company owner.
