I went here to find some baby trees for out landscaper to plant for me The trees were low-cost and shall grow to be quite lovely My husband rented a U-Haul so that we would not get dirt in his SUV (which turned out to be not required, they laid down plastic) I was able to bring our dogs on a leash and we all had a great time Very nice service and I was able to see what the trees would mature into in about 8-12 years read more

Absolutely Stunning! Just had Fields Nursery complete a redesign of our back yard. Posted I have provided a "pano" photo of the complete work. Tom Gollick and his team did an outstanding job. The entire job included the designing, planting of arperzvites, pine tree, bushes, ground cover, and plants, as well as installing the outcropping and paver stones. Their hard work and good ideas resulted in beautiful back yard setting. The Fields team was very efficient and adjusted well to whatever ideas and modifications my wife and I suggested. Each member of the team was very professional. My wife and I are very satisfied with all of the completed work and will undoubtedly enjoy our back yard for many years to come. This was a delightful business out in the Joliet/Crest Hill area - in fact, they are on Caton Hill Farm Road. Now this place is usually a nursery and garden center, and all the garden merchandise we saw as we walked through was lush and in excellent condition. Prices seemed a bit high but the merchandise looked like it could demand that level of price. BUT we really weren't out there for garden supplies of any sort. The weekend we came out the Farm had an Art Fair laid out on its property as a draw for customers and lookers. This was a very smart and generous thing. The Farm draws people out to see their garden merchandise, while also allowing a number of artsy vendors a place to lay out and display their wares. We aren't sure, but the vendors may have paid a little for the space ... but even if they did this was a beautiful location and background, and worth a small fee to use. The Art Fair displays were a limited engagement kind of thing - so if that is your interest, make sure to call before you go. The Farm is really a pretty big place - enough so that they can have all their garden offerings laid out, and still have a lot of room for a huge layout of artsy vendors and their canopies. With all the trees it was mostly in the shade, so canopies weren't really necessary. So we just had a nice walk along the paths through the artsy merchandise, and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Do come visit here, for the nursery and garden supplies --- and for the artsy stuff next time they have them on the Farm. read more

The Fields is a beautiful place to walk through. We were buying flowers for our association so we were a bit more particular about what we wanted. Ryan was a tremendous help with suggestions & answering our questions. They are a bit pricey but I feel that the quality is a bit better from a nursery. Not happy with this vendor. We purchases two hydrangea late last summer and planted them according to the instruction. One of the plants survived, but the other did not. We thought is was suffering from shock and being it was late in the reason, we left it till spring. Well, this spring, a few small leaves came up for a short time, then they died off. So, we called The Fields and complained. They said they would only give us a 50% discount and another plant. But first, we needed to send pictures. So we did. That was 4 days ago. Still no word back from them weather they would honor their warranty. We have in the past purchased plants from Home Depot and I can tell you for a fact, The Home Depot stands behind their products for a full year, not just a partial season, like The Fields does. Buy from Home Depot, or Menards which is right across the street. You'll be happy you did. read more

Since I was there early in he season they probably had less than 50% of the usual selection in stock as of yet. First of all the people who help you are good at times and others, I don't think they have a clue. The men who put in the shrubs, trees are exceptional! The other compaint at the beginning they can't tell you when they are coming, a 3-4 hour time would be efficient. If there are 5 or more people ahead of you, you would expect an afternoon planting. So you are stuck at the house or can't leave because you have no clue when they are coming. Finally last venture I was told what number in line I was. Does give you some idea and you are not guessing. Maybe they got it???? read more

Based upon the website posting that The Fields was open today. We were met by a extremely rude employee that stated that we're in fact not open for business. No apology just yes their site did state this information. I have made many purchases here, however, I guess my business is not important therefore I will no longer visit The Field Nursery. read more

The Fields is a gorgeous garden center--I love how the walking garden lets you see the plants on display before you purchase them. I was able to speak with the owner about how specific plants would do in my yard. It's really worth a visit the next time you're in the Joliet/Crest Hill neighborhood. read more

I'm new to gardening so I was looking around the internet for nurseries in the area and came across, The Fields. From their website it seemed as if they had knowledgeable staff to give advice and tips. This was not my experience today. There were two college aged women working, neither seemed interested to go out of her way to help me find what I was looking for, which they didn't have, nor to offer any suggested substitutions to meet my needs/tastes. I will say that it is a beautiful space with great displays. Just not as helpful as the website lead me to believe nor as well stocked as they could be. read more

Bought a Christmas tree from the Fields this year. Not only was it the best shaped live tree I have ever bought, it was extremely healthy, didn't lose needles. It was still healthy when we took it down a month later. In addition to receiving a great tree, the staff were friendly/helpful and the cost was reasonable. We will be back next year. read more
