I contracted them to repave a driveway, backyard and side walk of a rental property I own. If they didn't already have my substantial deposit, I would have backed out after they delayed my start date three weeks past due. Granted some of the delay was due to poor weather, but my property agent couldn't even get a call back after repeated attempts to speak with the owner. When she did, he literally yelled for inquiring when the contractors would start work. Additionally they were sloppy in their handwork covering a DEP water main opening with cement which would prevent any city workers from accessing it if necessary in the future. When they claimed the job was completed, they left the yard a mess with multiple pieces of plywood and tarp balled up in the yard. What professional company leaves their debris in the clients yard especially when the contract expressly says they will clean up all materials and trash at the work site upon completion. Do not go with this company unless you are looking to have your project take 2-3x as long as you initially expect and a sloppy job on top of that.

The next day I inspected the attic thinking that maybe the solar panels installed two years ago may be the cause. To my surprise and relief the cause was a missing plastic cover that was on the roofs powered exhaust vent. It had blown off during Fridays storm. Luckily my tenant had stored the cover but did know what it was. The vent with the cover on looks like a mushroom. On Sunday, I used Angie 's list to located a Staten Island roofer since my Brooklyn guy had not yet called back and I didn't want to risk another rain storm. The first contractor that called was already talking about replacing the exhaust vent at about $1600 for the job I cut him short since I only wanted a cover replaced. I said this is not looking good . Good bye. About 5 minutes later Marke calls me I got lucky, real lucky in finding a guy that did not try to cheat me. I told him all that was needed was to replace the cover. I texted him the photos of the cover. He stated that he could possibly fix the cover once he takes a look at it. It may be hard to find a replacement. At 10am he arrived at the house with his father. (Once he said that was his father, I knew I had the right guy) He inspected the roof and confirmed he could do a decent repair. He showed me pics of the roof vent. No need to change it. He used metal strips and screws to attach the cover. Then he placed ice/water shield and adhered it to the cover. He took pics again after the repair. The price was very reasonable The honesty was superb The time arrangement could not have been better. I paid cash and he later emailed me an invoice as I had requested. He is a good man who works with his father and since he did not steer me wrong, I decided to give him an excellent review!! I hope you call him if you ever do need a reliable and honest roofer. At first we considered trying another coating, but test areas showed poor adhesion and moisture beneath several old patches. Adding more material over that surface would not have corrected either problem. The replacement proposal called for removing the failed coating and underlying roof assembly to the deck. A smaller repair option was also provided, although it excluded the widespread loose areas. We chose replacement after seeing how easily the old coating separated from the roof. Removal exposed wet insulation near one wall and around a plumbing penetration. The wood deck needed repair only at the penetration, which was less than the allowance. A new two-ply modified-bitumen system was installed with fresh flashing at the walls, drain, and pipes. One material roll arrived with visible damage to its packaging. It was set aside and replaced rather than carried onto the finished area. That created a short delay but prevented a questionable roll from becoming part of the roof. The new surface looks simpler because the ridges from years of coating and patching are gone. Water reaches the drain without catching behind loose material, and the former leak has not returned. After eight months, the membrane and flashing still look the same as they did at completion. What convinced us was not a claim that coatings are universally bad. It was the adhesion failure and moisture confirmed on this particular roof.
