I was having trouble with unlocking my security screen door. Called Reed Brothers Security. They were immediately responsive, quickly identified the problem, and repaired it. A bit pricey ($125 or it might have been $150.) for maybe 15 - 20 minutes. I need bars on the windows to keep the bad guys out. I bought some at Home Depot but they were the wrong size so they went back. I looked at Reed Brothers website and saw they have different styles so i called and asked about a specific measurement. I was told i need to speak to a certain person who wasn't there. The guy asked me for my phone # and said he'd give me a call. I asked "Will it be today?" and the answer was no, it will be tomorrow. Well it's been several days now, and nobody has called, and obviously no one is going to bother calling. Probably he threw my number in the garbage. The guy i spoke to was also sort of unpleasant. It was his tone. He told me if the bars are going on bedroom windows you need quick release per the codes. I told him they're going in the living room. He said in some cities you even need quick release for the living room. Hey that's my problem. You just sell me what i'm asking for, and let me worry about the codes. If there's a fire in front, you just go out the back door. Sounds like he's trying to talk me out of buying anything. I am done with them. I found my bars elsewhere and they're fine, and cost less than their prices anyway. Can't be bothered to call the customer, OK, that's your loss buddy. read more

We just moved into our new home and needed to get our locks replaced. Patrick came out and was immediately super friendly and got right to work replacing the locks on our three doors. He also let us know of some small changes he needed to make on one of our doors, as it had a slightly older lock, but honestly I can't tell that there were any complications. LIAR ! This a follow up on my review. I did get my front door lock replaced by Sunshine Locksmith within 30 min which was what the technician from Reeds Brothers couldn't do and charged me $150 for not replacing the cylinder and getting my lock rekeyed. Yes it was a special Anderson lock and this company didn't have the professional that knew what he was doing. TERRIBLE COMPANY and then had the audacity to lie ! My lock rekeyed by another company and that is a fact ! LIAR LIAR LIAR!!!! Sunshine changed the cylinder on the Anderson lock and got my lock rekeyed. There was no reason I would lie and even name the locksmith that actually repaired my lock. TOTALLY UNETHICAL AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! read more

I'm not a fan of leaving reviews less than 4 stars, but honestly, I've had Reed out to my house twice in the past year, and they're the flakiest of the flakes. They used to be great when they were on Telegraph in Oakland, around the corner from my house. Since their move, I'll make a request for service, they'll come out and look at the lock/key problem, and tell me that I need something that costs thousands, where I'm only needing a ******* lock and key on my wooden gate. My neighborhood has hundreds of wood gates, and here's this dude, speaking to me in a dissy way, saying I need a metal gate, because he doesn't want to come back and do the lock/key job twice. I had to laugh. Right. I don't need a metal gate. I didn't ask for a metal gate. Guy promised an estimate, never came. Guy before him, promised to install a floor plate beneath my front door. Never got the estimate he promised, never heard from him. I guess this way of business is how Reed gets rid of customers they don't want, but why not just politely say "we don't do that". I hired Reed Brothers to program a second gate fob for my driveway gate. The tech came out and after about 45 minutes said that it couldn't be done and my only option would be to replace the gate mechanism for $6,000-$10,000. He charged me $240 for coming out and for the time spent trying to figure it out. The charge went through twice and I'm still waiting on a refund for the second $240 charge. I ended up hiring another company for the same thing and they figured the issue out. I now have my second gate fob. I called Reed today to ask for a full refund of the $480 I spent on absolutely nothing and they refused to give me a refund for the $240 but they said the money for the double charge is on its way. I'm extremely disappointed by this waste of time and money and will not be using them again. read more

This review is 9 months overdue -- but doing it stuck with me. Our family is super-pleased with the two security doors installed by Reed Brothers. Samir did an awesome job of measuring (and re-measuring for accuracy since we changed the type of door after the first measurement). He was knowledgeable, patient and did not try to upsell on products -- just direct info with pros and cons. Luis did an excellent job with the install and removal of the old doors -- he was efficient, thorough and glided through the job. Last note: Our 135-lb. guard dog loves (covertly) looking out at the neighborhood through the new doors -- and we love that he can't damage these heavyweight doors! read more

A few people were already there, but there were enough employees to help me out. He asked me what I needed, and told him I just needed key copies, promptly cut them and was out the door in about 10 minutes.
