From the moment I gave Glenview Key and Lock a call (I spoke with helpful Brianna) to when the locksmith, Sterling left, it was nothing but great service, which is really hard to find these days. I live in a very large apartment complex and needed to have my mailbox lock replaced. I called on a Monday and everything was done in just one day. Sterling texted me when he was on his way. He got the lock replaced very quickly and did so with a smile! I tell you, service quality is at its best with Glenview Key and Lock. read more

This neighborhood locksmith is the best. They have been making my keys and helping me with 100+ year old locksets for 15 years. I moved out of the neighborhood and they did a great job re-keying my new home. Highly recommend, very friendly and client oriented - with the best Godzilla seasonal window displays in all the world I know. read more

Best place to make copies for your keys. Probably not the cheapest but they work every time.

This is the first Lock And Key company answered the phone. When I say answer the phone, a real human answer the phone. Then they gave me the appointment for the next day. The guy came within 15 minutes. He took care of everything I needed. Their price was very reasonable as well. read more

Excellent spot to get your keys made. They also cut and programmed keys for my Toyota. There was some issue here where my (used) new car had exceeded the number of allowed keys, though I had only one. The technician was able to delete all previous keys and start again.......took a while for him to figure this out but it was done successfully. very much recommended read more

I have a very old house. My front door lock is over one hundred years old. My local locksmith directed me to Glenview to work on my front door lock. They are great at working on ancient locks. Staff is always nice and helpful and offer great pricing. I travel 15-ish miles, one cause they can handle old locks and two now I would give them my business on modern locks cause they are great to their patrons. read more

I locked myself out of my condo, so I called Glenview to send a locksmith to open my front door. They told me their technician, Idan Gal, would call me back. When he did, I clearly asked him up front how much it would cost, and was quoted $65.00. We arranged a time later in the afternoon to meet. Once he was onsite though, he told me that the $65.00 was only for the visit, but the total cost was $280.00! Total bait and switch. read more

Super nice guy, communicated in a timely manner and did an excellent job, and affordable! Thanks!

Our house key broke inside the door lock so I called Glenview Key and Lock. The tech (Sergio) showed up the next morning and removed the partially broken key from the lock. While he was here, I asked him to look at another door handle that was loose and sagging. He fixed that too. So I was happy with the service and the tech (Sergio). read more

Glenview Key and Lock is located on Park Blvd. on the right side (if you are going down the hill) in an older brick building with dark green tile. When I got close to the building I could see a quirky window display with a dinosaur and lots of green for St. Patrick's Day.  During the end of March, 2021, they were only allowing one customer in the store at a time. While I was standing outside looking at the window display, a man approached me asking what I would like. He took my key and made me a duplicate. Then when the customer inside left, I went in a paid for my key. Besides making keys, if your home gets broken into they can come and assess how they can make your home more safe. They carry a wide range of hardware from simple/inexpensive to hardware made with stronger metals. If you live in an older home with antique locks and you need help with skeleton keys--they have them. I went to them a while back to get a duplicate key for my e-bike. They were able to help me where some places that just make the more common keys wouldn't have been able to help me. They also can make metal name tags for yourr dog's or cat's. I guess you could even have one made for yourself at Halloween if you were dressing up as a dog or cat. read more

Hooray for our neighborhood locksmith. Just in one house call, they (1) realigned my conventional deadbolt lock so it matched with the strike; (2) removed a not-so-great Kwikset brand smart lock (purchased from Amazon); (3) installed a new smart lock; and (4) cut extra keys for our new smart lock. Very professional, right on time, and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended! read more

Here's a shout out to Sterling, who was scheduled to visit yesterday, mid-day. He called politely to ask if the appointment could be delayed but I, with bills to pay and a locked cabinet's keys misplaced for an awfully long time, asked if he could come towards the end of the day instead, yes, and went off to get my hair cut. During the haircut, unknown to me, he called to say that he was on the way to the ER for stitches, having cut his hand. IMAGINE anybody on their way to the ER calling to let you know they'd not be there? WOW. As I got into my car I noticed the message, called and said yes, let's reschedule. I guess he didn't get that message from the company because guess what... HE CALLED a SECOND TIME to be SURE I would not be waiting for him. WOWZERS. Today, despite lots of bookings, he arrived and saved my day. I can now pay my bills. WHAT A GUY, that STERLING character with a name that says it all. WOW. Thank you, Sterling, for excellent service above and beyond in every way. read more

Needed new car keys. Charged less than half of others. He had some problems with his machinery so he volunteered to drive to my house in Berkeley the next day, get my key, fix it and drive back. Shop located in charming area. If you need house key or are locked out, he will come to your house and fix on the spot. This is great asset for older homes that still use keys. read more

I highly recommend ANYONE else. Just so you get the drift, this won't be a positive review (perhaps the single star set the tone :] ) I will be as matter of fact as possible and share my direct and recent experience. My relatively simple project....adjust the cylinder pins in my storage box (Vespa) so my master key could work the box and I could consolidate keys. I used Yelp to look for a list of locksmith's with decent ratings in my nearby area. After calling a guy discussing my project he immediately informed my he didn't have the proper tools and suggested I try Glenview. So I went to Glenview the next day, happy to stay relatively local. Local doesn't always mean friendly and certainly not here. The vibe is anything but welcoming, you get that upon entering. I give them a key to cut, they cut it - it is a transaction. So far no issues....they can cut keys. Explain my project. They ask if I have the cyliner...I say yes it is on my bike, can I borrow a pair of pliers to remove it to show you? They say no, we don't lend tools. At this point, I should have moved on....my gut told me this was not a place that goes the extra mile....or inch to assist. Staying local one would think "community" cuts both ways....you help me, I help you - not at Glenview. So I walk up to the local dollar store, get a pair of pliers, remove the lock, bring it in to Glenview and say here is my cylinder can you do this? They say "we should" and they write up a ticket. There is a pause....I ask, how long, how much what should I expect in terms of timing? Guy thinks about it...says $35 or $40. I then ask...when should I hear from you? Says by end of day or tomorrow..... While just looking at me, I then say ok can I have the order ticket, which he gives me. Not that I expect a dose of pleasantness with every errand, but I do feel that if you are going to be gruff at least have the ability to get the job done. No call that evening. No call by noon the next day, so I call. They say we weren't able to do it, we don't have the tools. Dang....wouldn't that have been nice to know when I disassembled the lock (NOT USING THEIR PRECIOUS TOOLS IN THE PROCESS) and gave it to them to examine? If I can talk to someone over the phone and they can say...we can't do this....then so should Glenview. Unfortunately it wasted my time and was done without a single smile. So my experience was less fortunate than others....but I ultimately did google the procedure and was able to fix it myself. I won't be trying Glenview again. read more

Sergio came out to get us back in our home after a guest changed the lock setting on our front door. After he got us back in quickly, he also helped with fixing an unrelated issue with the same lock at no extra charge. Excellent locksmith. They were able to make copies of an unusual key that another store did not stock. Glenview Kay and Lock on Park Blvd in Oakland, CA, is a first-class locksmith. On April 8, 2024, Sia there fashioned a key for a bike rack lock core, patiently puzzling through the problem. These guys are great! I had them at my home about 4 years ago to change all the locks after purchasing my home. At that time they were quick, efficient and friendly. Called them again today to repair my front door lock. I was told someone could be here in about 3 hours and after about 2 hours I received a call from Paul saying he could be here within 15 minutes. Again, quick, efficient and friendly service and I was charged a reasonable fee for their service call. If you're got lock issues I'd certainly give em a call. read more

I went to reed brothers to get some keyed alike padlocks. The one guy at the counter was in a deep conversation with a contractor about cars (not lock related). I must have stood there almost 5 minutes before he would help, which was little to none. He seemed to just want to get back to the other guy he was shooting the breeze with . I called Glenview, they are awesome. Had in stock what I needed. I bought 3 Abus padlocks, turned out one would not fit the hasp, no problem to return next day. These folks are fabulous! Responsive, reliable and they know old houses and their locks like no one else in the entire East Bay. I've had them fix several things in my house and they have stayed fixed where other lock and key companies failed. I called them out to the house the other day and it turned out our problem was our fault and all we had to do was push a little button. They did not even charge us for the service call. Ask for Sterling if you can. He seems to know everything there is to know about locks old and new. But I'm sure anyone else working there does as well. Don is absolutely amazing! He recently made custom keys for our vintage mortise locks, as well as cleaned and oiled the locks themselves. He even repaired one of the locks. We removed the locks from our (interior) doors ourselves and dropped them off at the shop for Don to work on. He got the job done quickly and always called to update on cost and when the keys and locks were ready. This week, we came by with 6 exterior, modern locks for rekeying, and Don did them on the spot. Total pro! This is a great local store and every time we've needed help, Glenview Lock has done a professional job. They've come to our house to put in new locks and rekey, or just helped me rekey a lock when I've dropped by with one. Thanks to Don, Ian, Sarah, and Dan. read more
