Although their online menu doesn't exactly match their in-person menu, and I wish they opened earlier (I love a nice morning tea!), I was glad to stop by and try them out. They were out of the New Zealand Sunny Slopes and offered a Kir Quincy instead that had hibiscus, elderberry, grape, and rosehips. After a good steeping, I was happy to try it. The elderberry hits hard and fast - tangy and yummy! Overpowered the other flavors quite a bit, but it was so good. Perfect temperature too. The staff was really friendly when I went. I was craving boba late at night and decided to swing by Redstraw. I got the Honey Roasted Oolong with Sea Salt Cream with 50% sugar. You can really taste the roasted oolong with is always a good sign for boba. The boba balls weren't mind blowing good hence the 4 stars. I would also recommend going with 100% sugar because 50% really did cut down on the sweetness. I would come back and like to try the Redstraw milk tea next time. read more

I really like their peach penilini. It satisfies my sweet tooth while also not being super sweet. I have also tried their peach mandarin with almond milk and agar boba. The almond milk didn't taste like anything but I did taste the peach which was really good. I think next time though, I'll just get the peach mandarin with no milk option as that tasted better. I went in because I really wanted a coffee, but the Starbucks was closed. So I went in and right from the beginning the cashier was not very nice and friendly. When she took my order she seemed extremely annoyed, like dam. If you don't want to be there, I don't think any one is forcing you. I just ordered two drinks nothing to difficult. When I noticed my drinks were ready she places them down, and just throws the straws next to the drinks. I was baffled, it was my first time there and the service was horrible. I've been living in this area for 5 years and have been a semi regular here. I was eating at an adjacent restaurant and my 14 yo daughter who was done wanted to go to the tea shop to do some of her homework. I said I would join her later and was planning on getting a drink. The store was relatively empty with multiple open tables. My daughter sat down and was doing her homework. The staff came to her and asked her if she was ordering anything. When she said that she wasn't going to they told her that the tables were for customers only and that she would have to leave. Needless to say that I opted not to purchase anything and I explained to the owner/manager that this is not the way a community business should operate. It should be a part of the community and not go out of its way to alienate the members of this community. Even if someone is not a customer today they are likely to be one in the future. Except for me...... The owner/manager didn't apologize or respond but just nodded..... This place is like a hidden gem in plain sight. I didn't realize until just recently that Irvine has a Redstraw, and as I'd only tried the LA location once a couple years ago and couldn't remember if I liked it, I was eager to try the Irvine location. There is a great variety of drinks on the menu, so there's sure to be something for everyone. I ordered the mango mojito with boba, and it hit the spot. I ordered it less sweet, and it came out just right. One thing I was pleasantly surprised about was the prices here are pretty low compared to other places in Irvine and LA. I only paid $5.75 for my drink, which is way less than the average $7-8 I've paid elsewhere. Definitely will be back to try more drinks. read more

Cute, clean little shop offering a wide array of drinks. I tried one of their specialty mixed teas... the Peach Bellini which was rather tasty... (black?) tea, peach, fresh lime and some other flavors that I forgot but worked well together. I added boba for only 50 cents more. Maybe next time I'll ask them to make it a little less sweet but that is just my personal preference. Super easy to order online. You can adjust ice and sweetness levels and you can even do 1/2 boba or any of their toppings for 25 cents if you don't want the full amount which is great for me since I only want a little boba. read more

This place is a hidden gem and sooo underrated. Coming from a previous boba shop worker, I can tell the quality of the tea leaves are high. One of the very few places that have custom and fresh teas other than the typical milk teas. The custom teas are made to order and I think the refreshing teas are pre-made. Either way, they are both great. I had the cherry blossom custom tea (forgot the full name) and blue lady. They both taste refreshing and have the perfect amount of sweetness even at normal sweetness level. Highly recommend overall. 12/10 read more

RedStraw was Stop #16 on my Yelp exploratory tea store adventure! And because their menu offers so many interesting options, I had to come by several times before fully formulating an opinion. 1. The French Daisy is a jasmine green tea with fresh lemon and butterfly pea tea. It's sooooo good! And it tastes especially refreshing in the midst of this heatwave. On a side note, I was wondering why I could taste a hint of mint as well when I noticed some mint leaves floating around the top of the drink. 2. The Dalgona milk tea was also pretty good. It's their house redstraw black milk tea with dalgona topping. And omg where can I buy dalgona candy? Delicious! 3. Thai Sea Salt Cream- this one was just okay. Not something I would get again. I'm also really picky when it comes to Thai tea though, as it's one of my favorite drinks. 4. Rose Garden- This tea refresher had a strong lychee taste, and wasn't nearly as good as the French Daisy. 5. Strawberry Jasmine- way way way too sweet, and coming from me that's saying something since I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. I had a sip of it before shaking and mixing in the strawberry puree, so the jasmine tea itself is good but with the strawberry puree it was just too much sugar. Not a fan. So the drinks were hit or miss for me, but the ones I liked, I really liked. Service was also good. And parking is easy in the spacious lot. read more

Their menu has numerous different kinds of teas. There are some unique and different fruit tea options like strawberry jasmine, French daisy and grapefruit punch. I got a hot milk tea with oat milk. I didn't get up charged for oat milk which was much appreciated. The boba was nice and soft and delicious. I got less sweet at 75% and it was still pretty sweet. We ordered dalgona coffee and they were pure milk with little to no coffee and only sprinkles of dalgona. We asked to fix our drinks just to be told that they ran out dalgona and that they will taste the same. What??? If you don't have to ingredients, don't sell. The aesthetics for this place is on point! They are very COVID friendly and sanitize frequently. Because of that, I gave them another star! Also, they provide masks to guests that do not have one. Imma say it: Redstraw's milk lattes... are not that good. I only drink MILK TEAS at boba shops so that basically writes off Redstraw for me. BUT they have some good things about them, so don't write them off if you're a fruit tea or pure tea lover. Let me start with the positives. I think the boba balls and the tea itself is actually pretty good. At the same sugar levels as other boba shops, Redstraw has decent/better roasted tea, though not as good as at Orobae. So if you get a tea only drink you actually may like this place more than I did. The decor was nice. One of the more cute places for boba shops, definitely has interesting minimalist tableau and a menu off to the side instead of a frontal menu while you can watch staff make it. So the cups for me are kind of mixed. They only come in one size, the standard "tall" 700ml cups scene in every boba shop ever with a plastic red straw, and are thinner than at Sunright which has way less bendable cups. Now for the Matcha milk latte that I ordered... the pics look great and you'd think it would taste good too, but fun fact: No. I got it already mixed, not too much of a problem, but the main issue is that It's too watery and bland. I'm a dude who like a good milk/tea/boba ratio for basically every boba place I ever visit, and while the boba was fine, and the tea was good, the milk was...REALLLLY watery to say the least. Don't get the milk latte. For the price being similar to Omomo, I don't think it holds up in value. There was an attempt, to say the least. read more

TL;DR Red Straw is like a normal boba shop, but they brew some of the teas by hand when you order them. Drinks: I've been here twice, the first time I got the cherry sakura, and it blew my mind. It has a nice tea flavor with a nice hint of cherry that made for a refreshing unique drink. The second time I had the Peach Mandarin, and honestly it was okay. They have plenty of interesting drinks that I am sure you will find something you've never tried before here. Notes: Brewing the tea for your drink is pretty cool, something you don't see at other shops. It can get packed inside, so expect a wait. read more

The drink was very refreshing and delicious! The lemon and tea flavors were strong but not overpowering. The coloring from butterfly pea flower made a beautiful purple to yellow gradient. The sweetness level was just right for me. While the fresh aloe pieces complemented the jasmine tea, I had a hard time breaking up the bigger aloe pieces for me to be able to enjoy with my drink. The store was also very aesthetic with minimalistic designs, a colorful wall, and lots of plants hanging around. My new favorite from Redstraw is Honest Guy $5.25 which has a very refreshing cherry and pineapple juice taste in it. These two flavors are not cough syrup tasting at all, it tastes like how it should be in it's natural juice form and it blends so well with the jade tea. I love how all of the teas I've tried at Redstraw really does taste refreshing and does not have me quenching for water afterwards. I like to believe that because of this, they are genuine and stand by the fact that they don't use powdered teas and brew natural tea leaves and put natural juices to flavor their teas. Sure, there are sweeteners in these teas, but it's done well with just enough sweetness and not overly sweet. I still give this place 4 stars as the price is pretty hefty at $5.25, but I highly recommend coming here especially if you're looking for tea that actual tastes good! read more

My partner and I were craving some Boba tea and we decided to walk over here from dinner. Each of us got a different drink. I got the rice Boba tea with crème brûlée boba.
