I normally would give this place a 5 stars as their drinks are good and I had great interactions in the past with the staff. But today was my worst experience here, as my order wasn't right AND it just felt so rushed that I had to make more than one transaction cause the staff member at the register never repeated my first order back to me and just asked me to pay ... since my whole party didn't placed their order, I had to pay twice to get it all done. I called out when my order was wrong and didn't get an apology, but that at least I got what I paid for... it just didn't feel right. Not kid friendly place to get boba for kids. They didn't have any fruit slushes or even taro options for my kids so I think this place is catered to more adults only. I tried their mango mojito and green tea mojito and if you like a good green tea flavour that isn't too bitter and not invisibly light where you don't taste any tea then the green tea mojito I recommend it's refreshing but does NOT taste anything like a mojito I couldn't taste any mint or any lime. Their mango one had more flavour and still had a decent green tea taste come through which is what I mean by catered to adults who truly want a tea flavour boba. Their service EXTREMELY SLOW. No urgency to help customers. There was 3 girls working and had all their backs turned and they saw I was waiting to order alongside 4 others behind me and they didn't not greet us or acknowledge us. As you might be able to tell, I've been going here for years. Redstraw has had its ups and downs -- as all businesses do -- but I appreciate their continual commitment to quality. Whoever manages the store does a wonderful job! I don't get boba often anymore given our economy these days, but whenever I do, I go straight to Redstraw. I've worked at 2 popular boba stores before. I know firsthand that employees (especially supervisors) are not always held accountable for keeping perishable ingredients fresh. As a result, the vast majority of coffee shops and boba shops make me sick. (PSA: room temperature dairy projects are very icky.) Redstraw has never made me sick before, and I've never gotten the sense that employees leave out perishable ingredients for too long. For those with sensitive stomachs, rejoice! There is one boba shop in the city you can trust to keep you safe! It also helps that Redstraw has the best Jasmine and Oolong teas in the city. :) My favorite drinks over the years have been: Honey Oolong Milk Tea Redstraw Milk Tea Jasmine Milk Tea Rose Garden Watermelon Rose Mojito Grasshopper Strawberry Jasmine I only wish they'd bring back the Honest Guy, because that was one of my favorite drinks of all time! Even if they have to alter the recipe a bit. ;) I also love that my custom teas were pretty good the last few times I've ordered them. In the past, custom teas have felt quite watered down. They still don't necessarily have the same creamy texture as their milk teas which use teas made in bulk (such is when you're using fresh brewed tea), but the flavors have been there! Stumbled upon this Redstraw location since I was on a waitlist for a restaurant nearby, and I'm so glad I gave their bingsoo a try! I know that Redstraw specializes in boba drinks (which tbh I'm not the biggest fan of), but their bingsoo is seriously criminally underrated, and definitely one of the best ones I've ever tried. We got the mango bingsoo since they were out of the injeolmi, but it definitely didn't disappoint, with thin, delicate yet flavorful ice crystals made from fresh milk, plenty of sweet, fresh mango bits, whipped cream, and a mango ice cream base. I wasn't the biggest fan of how the bingsoo was served in a drink cup since it made it a bit hard to mix/eat, but I would definitely be back to try their 3 other flavors, which are all reasonably priced at $9.25 after tax! read more

Stopped by for a pick me up for the first time. They don't use nondairy creamer here but they use real milk for all their milk drinks. They also have alternatives like soy, almond and oat milk. I got their honey oolong salted cream 25% sweet with honey boba and it was pretty good! I really liked their pearls -- chewy and sweet. I feel like lots of boba shops don't make pearls well -- they're either too small, or not sweet, or overly swollen and not a nice chewy consistency -- so I was happy about that. This location isn't good. I was craving for tea and boba and unfortunately it took over 15 minutes to order my drink and another 30 minutes to get my order. I heard that this place brews fresh tea which makes the taste much better. However my issue is that this location did not do a good job training their employees. There were two guys making drinks and one lady at the register. The plastic lid sealer wasn't working so the lady manager came out to fix. Took over 10 minutes to fix and all drink orders were on hold but the lady kept charging customers and taking down orders. Hence the huge backup of drinks that need to be made. I recommend this place have more than 1 plastic lid sealer machine and more staff to make drinks. Also my drink which was the organic oolong tea with boba wasn't tasty at all. It was very dilute and filled with ice. Barely any flavor. I'm not too happy that my $5.50 drink wasn't good and I had to wait a long time to get my drink. By the way if you ask for a drink without ice there's actually a note at the register that states they won't fill the drink all the way to the top. So either get a smaller volume room temperature drink or one that's icy cold and diluted and no taste. Going to try other boba places instead. read more

I was eating at an adjacent restaurant and my 14 yo daughter who was done wanted to go to the tea shop to do some of her homework. I said I would join her later and was planning on getting a drink. When she said that she wasn't going to they told her that the tables were for customers only and that she would have to leave. Everything is freshly brewed and hand crafted in front of you and the strawberry jam in the matcha is freshly made in house. We got our drinks fairly quick after having ordered 6 matcha drinks and a strawberry smoothie. I've been here a few times, but my go-to is the strawberry matcha. I went in because I really wanted a coffee, but the Starbucks was closed. So I went in and right from the beginning the cashier was not very nice and friendly. When she took my order she seemed extremely annoyed, like dam. If you don't want to be there, I don't think any one is forcing you. I just ordered two drinks nothing to difficult. I love the concept of how the teas are steeped in front in a peculator device for teas. Its my first time trying loose leaf tea. My cousin informed me jasmine tea isn't really jasmine tea but rather green tea that's been sprayed with jasmine perfume. Essentially, Jasmine teas are really green tea with jasmine terpenes. Japanese Cherry Sakura -loved the sweet flavor of the cherry and how the tea taste. It was a bit of a wait to get my drink but we'll worth it.
