I love Redstraw for their cocktail-inspired drinks and shorter line compared to other boba places. The atmosphere is more casual and intimate just because you don't feel rushed when ordering. Drinks are a little on the sweet side, since I don't think you can adjust the sugar levels. I usually end up not finishing the entire drink in day. My default drink is the French Daisy, which is super duper photogenic and refreshing. I also really like the Honest Guy, which tastes like those candied cherries that top ice cream sundaes, but it's very very sweet. read more

I came here on Friday afternoon around 3ish and it was packed, but the wait wasn't too long! I love the aesthetic vibe and if you come when it's not packed, it would be a great study spot. I can see myself craving this place on those hot summer days!! The only downside is that the prices are on the higher side for drinks. French daisy and mango mojito were each $5.25ish? It's in the mall with Mokkoji, Albertsons, and next to Cauldron so theres ample parking read more

(3.5 stars) After initially wanting to go to a different boba shop that we found out closed earlier than expected, we heard about this new place and decided to give it a try. Small corner shop that has few seating inside, and a shared seating area space outside. Immediately after walking in, I noticed the high prices for the drinks. They range from $4.50 - $5.75, which is pretty absurd in comparison to other shops. Their drink selection did look interesting, however, so I thought maybe the prices would be justified. Our group got Honest Guy, Arnold Palmer, Strawberry Jasmine, Rose Garden, Redstraw Milk Tea, and Earl Grey Creme. Arnold Palmer was probably the best - although it being only black tea and lemon mixed together, we could probably make this ourselves. Rose Garden was pretty good with the taste of lychee coming out just the right amount. Honest Guy was nice as well, but the flavors of the pineapple juice as well as cherry were a bit too faint to really enjoy anything. Strawberry Jasmine was pretty good, but I prefer Omomo's Strawberry Green Tea instead. And now what cost them a few points - their Milk Tea and Earl Grey Creme tasted very artificial and fake. Really not sure if its their "Organic Milk" that they use, or as for the Earl Grey Creme the French Vanilla flavor is simply just overwhelmingly fake. Definitely would not recommend these two drinks. Red Straw seems like one of those boba shops where their fruit teas are the things to go for - at least from my friends' and my experience. However with the size (24oz) and high prices, you might want to consider a cheaper location for a better bang for your buck. read more

I really like this place! They're drinks are very unique and not too bad in terms of pricing (I've seen some similar places get close to $7 a drink!) My favorites are the french daisy (comes at 25% sweetness normally, I think this is perfect) and the watermelon mojito. I haven't tried their milk teas, but I've had my eye on the earl grey one so I might try that next time I go. Place is clean and the staff is friendly. Recommend! read more

Recommend the fruity teas over the milky teas. Their fruit based teas are refreshing and unique. Service is helpful if you have any questions and the shop is clean and organized. read more

The staff was nice but I had to wait 15 min for my two drinks even though I was the second customer in the store. One drink was fine, but the honeycomb topping on the Dalgona milk tea was burned and the flavor dissolved into the drink so the burned flavor was all I could taste. Hopefully they can taste the toppings next time. I also didn't see that Dalgona was not actual cream, but a topping. It wasn't depicted that way in the photo or description. read more

Tried the cold brew with dalgona and the rose garden. Both were pretty good! There was a large selection of teas and drinks, a lot of which were unique compared to other places (lychee/rose). The interior was very aesthetic, and could be a great place to grab a drink and hang out. read more

Love love this place! They have real brewed tea unlike other places using too much syrup and powder. My favorite is french daisy and mango mojitos. Takes a little longer to make it because its fresh tea. The service is great as well. Definitely must try. read more

Visited during their soft opening and enjoyed the drinks! We tried the Organic Honey Oolong Milk Tea, Strawberry Jasmine Tea, Japanese Cherry Sakura and the Blood Orange Tea. Like many other boba shops sweetness level is adjustable and you are able to add a variety of toppings. However, they only had one size. The quality of the drinks were great! They use all organic teas and no powder. My favorite was the Organic Honey Oolong Milk Tea. The Cherry Sakura tasted a bit weak compared to the others but it may have been because all the other teas had really strong flavors but you could definitely taste the cherry blossom. The other teas were great as well, for the Blood Orange Tea they informed us that we would have to wait 5 minutes for it to brew but the wait was worth it. I went with a friend to pick up the drinks for our group and ended up sitting and chatting in the store for a while. One of the workers noticed and even brought us insulated bags so our drinks wouldn't melt. Overall great place to try out! It is a bit expensive in my opinion, around $6 but the quality makes up for it. I'll be back to try out the other teas! read more

Waited for my hot peach mandarin tea for close to 25 minutes, by the time I got my drink it was almost 9pm (see receipt). The wait is not the issue. The issue is, you messed up my order. People behind me already got their order, I inquired about my drink, but you wouldn't admit you've made a mistake. I had to escalate to your supervisor who told me hot tea takes 4 minutes to brew (I know that because I have been standing in your store for 25 min, while observing how you make your tea.) But within 30 seconds after I voiced my concern, SOMEHOW my tea is ready! I look, it's a very foamy hot peach mandarin. You won't normally have this much foam if you just pour into the cup, UNLESS you try to trick your customer and steam it up with the steam wand! good try. read more

For all my tea connoisseurs, if you're into premium tea this is the place for you. So far I've tried Green Mojito, Rose Garden, and Osmanthus Oolong. Green mojito was my first drink here. It was okay.. But it had a really interesting taste, which kept me on the fence. So I came back again to give their drinks another shot. Rose garden and the Osmanthus oolong were pretty good! Rose garden has a lemony taste with lechee. Good balance. Osmanthus oolong is a mix of chrysanthemum and oolong. Both drinks were pretty good. The place itself is minimalistic with not too many tables. Wish they had bigger or more tables for larger groups. But super chill! Conclusion: If you really like tea or have a good palette for it, and don't mind paying a bit more, this place is for you. Definitely found a new favorite! read more

Hole in the wall!!! Well not really because Mokkoji is right next door. I came across their second day of soft opening during a storm. I was so excited that there was an even closer location to my house than the boba joints in the Jeffrey/Walnut plaza. Their Rose Garden is DA BOMB. It was so rosey and fruity and it was just AMAZING! Boba was chewy as well. They have 2 small tables inside and a couple benches, so it's good if you just need a place to catch up with 1 or 2 friends. I also got the Strawberry Jasmine and it was very refreshing and fruity as well, but I would prefer Rose Garden any day. I just have this super sweet spot for Rose LOL. Cute little spot in the corner of a very busy plaza haha but it's pretty tucked away. It's right next to mokkoji and the almost open Cauldron! I've been quite a few times since it opened and got a couple drinks: - honey oolong milk tea: sooo good, light and not too sweet! Love that the tea flavor actually stands out. My favorite. - strawberry jasmine: delicious, but slightly too sweet if you get full sweet. Next time I'll get it less sweet! Anyways, the flavor was unique and I loved how the strawberry flavors mixed with the very strong jasmine (flowery) flavor. It was really good. - Thai milk tea: boyfriend got it and liked it a lot! He said he liked how you can taste the tea at the end and it wasn't just all sweet. Boba seemed good too! - jasmine milk tea: friend got it and I tried it. It was light and refreshing (weird for a milk tea description LOL), but it was really good! Although I prefer the oolong. Overall, delicious and priced competitively to other expensive boba spots like Omomo. oh! And there is only one size. read more

The first time I tried this place the Thai tea was so refreshing and delicious. Tonight, it was so disappointing. It literally tasted like they used dirty sink water. The flavor was not there and I could tell it was off. Didn't even finish half waste of money. read more

Fabulous fabulous fabulous! Being in Irvine you are a stone throw away from numerous boba shops but Redstraw is so fresh! The cleanliness is excellent, the variety is plenty, and quality is top notch. If you enjoy refreshing teas this is a place for you. I am excited to return and try a number of different drinks! read more

Nice clean place, I like that they can adjust the sweetness and sugar level in most of the drinks.

I finally made it there. There is an abundance of boba places here in Irvine so I didn't feel the need to rush over. Since I had lunch next door, I decided it was a great time to stop and try. I was told to get the mango mint mojito so I ordered it with less ice and I wanted less sugar and I think she told me I could only do 75% for that drink so I said fine. It was a tad sweet for me since I usually do no sugar or very little. I also got boba added which is nice that it was additional costs. They must advertise their prices with an add in. Service was norm. If I'm around the area and want boba, I'd go again. SYOY! read more

A new boba spot in Irvine opening up? I jumped on that real quick, without any previous expectations. Located in a big plaza, I thought that this would be a good addition to an area that previously didn't have any tea shops. Upon entering and seeing the pretty unique menu, I was excited to mix it up and avoid crazy lines. Ordering a green mojito, I was surprised that the drink was not at all sweet. It had a much lighter taste: at 100% sweetness, it tasted like less than 50% sweetness. This isn't necessarily bad (I guess), but I was just looking for the "mojito" to really come out. My friend said similarly of his drink (a strawberry jasmine), and I felt the same once I tried it. Overall, I'd give my green mojito 6/10. Hopefully, they take note and adjust the sweetness of drinks. I'd like to give it more tries because of the location and friendly service! read more

Faves here are the strawberry matcha latte and genmaicha tea! Service is efficient and the workers are nice.

The short of it: - brand new tea bar in Cypress shopping center - right next to Mokkoji - menu has a variety of milk teas, refreshing teas, & custom teas - nice decor, has seating inside - Favs: Redstraw milk tea, jasmine green milk tea with sea salt cream The long of it: Spotted this brand new milk tea place and had to try it immediately! I'm always looking for good boba. They are currently doing a soft opening so I got to sample a couple of their milk teas and my topping of choice was free (yay!). Out of their samples I liked the Redstraw milk tea which they mentioned is a special black tea blend. For my my order I decided to go with my tried and true go to milk tea, jasmine green milk tea. I got it with sea salt cream and boba. It was really good, sweetness was just right and the boba was on point. Their standard sweetness level is 75% which tasted good to me but you could always ask for more or less. I'm glad there's a new boba place in the neighborhood and looking forward to my next visit and trying all the teas on the menu! read more

Went back again two days later, drinks were still good and boba texture was really good but I think the price is a bit much for what you get. It's 5.75 for the sea salt cream coffee which does not include the boba price (since they are doing free toppings during soft opening). This seems pretty expensive, and once the soft opening is over it'll be over $6 for the single coffee drink with boba which might not be worth it. I think they should re-evaluate their prices compared to the other boba places around here. read more

I love trying new tea and boba places so when my friend recommended me to come here, I couldn't resist. It's located right next to Mokkoji and the Pho restaurant on Jeffrey. For a Sunday evening, the line wasn't long at all. There wasn't anyone after me for a good 10 minutes. Ambience: It's a very well lighted environment. The seating area had small circular tables with outlets at the benches. There's only about 4 small round tables so not much sitting space if it's crowded. They played good 90s and early 2000s music. It is loud, so you might have to talk louder and it might not be an ideal study spot. Price: It is on the pricier side for drinks. It's about $5 before tax but I don't think there was an additional price for toppings. What we ordered: 1) Strawberry Jasmine Fruit Tea I was bit skeptical about how this would taste but it was so light and refreshing. The sweetness was just right. There was a good balance between the sweetness and tartness. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants a fruity and light drink. Their teas are brewed in front of you. 2) Organic Honey Oolong Sea Salt Tea + honey boba I LOVE all sea salt teas so I enjoy going to different places to try them out. The organic honey oolong comes in a milk tea form and a sea salt tea form. I opted to get the sea salt tea. Once mixed, there was a good mix between sea salt and honey oolong tea distribution. The taste was a stronger tea taste composted to other places, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did not taste the "honey boba" though. It was just your typical boba. You don't have to adjust for the sugar level, it tasted not too sweet and not too bland. Overall, I would definitely get both drinks again if I'm in the area. It's pricer than other places but they don't use powder for their teas and milk teas. If I had to choose between the honey oolong sea salt tea or the strawberry jasmine, I'd probably choose the strawberry jasmine. It's not an ideal place if you are in a large group or if you want to study. There was no wait when I came in, but those who came after me received their drinks in a very timely manner. read more

I think this is a great starting boba place. Tried this for the first time, and I think the flavors are good. I appreciate that I don't have to change the sweetness level because the drinks are too sweet. It's a good start to a new boba place especially in the crowded boba area of Irvine. Update: I love their freshly brewed tea as they are one of little to no boba shops that make their tea from true ingredients rather than a lot of syrups. 30 minutes for two drinks. Sea salt ice coffee is just horrible. I'd rather have Folgers coffee.

Red Straw has a pretty decent selection of teas! I really enjoyed their brown sugar milk tea (which I believe isn't on their physical menu but was shown on a sign outside); it fulfilled my craving for a sweet tea while simultaneously keeping the milk flavor. I also got the earl grey black tea (which I thought sounded good), but I thought it was pretty bad. However, I'm not letting it reflect on my review since i'm not sure if it's the tea place itself or if I just don't like that drink in particular. Their service is also pretty good and their staff is friendly. It's also worth noting that this location also takes EBT Cash (not SNAP) so if you're a college student looking to use your EBT on boba, keep looking! read more

I really liked the whole interior design of the store. It had a clean, fresh, vibrant look as soon as I stepped in. The menu had lots of pictures to show how the drinks looked like which helped! This really is a 3.5 star review with the potential for a 4... We tried this place in century city back in November and loved it. The menu was really interesting to me even though the large menu (literally, it takes up the whole wall) was very daunting. Did I want the Sakura Cherry? My trusty grapefruit? Something with rose? I ended up going with their most instagrammable drink - the French Daisy with Agar boba. Hubby got the Honey Oolong less sweet and we got the Watermelon Rose Mojito for my MIL. French Daisy - definitely the best of the 3. Not too sweet, very pretty to look at, and has a nice light lemon taste. Honey Oolong - okay. The roasted Oolong definitely shown through but the milk to tea ratio is a little off, felt a little watered down. Hubby got this one thinking it was the one he like in Century City. After having this we think it was the Honey Oolong Sea Salt that he liked better. Boba was decent. Watermelon Rose Mojito - was kind of on the sweet side. Unfortunately you can't make this one less sweet. The service is amazing and the girls are really sweet. I have a hard time liking boba places that don't allow you to adjust the sweetness. I also think the tea doesn't get to steep long enough for that true tea flavor but any longer and the wait will be just like Omomo, ridiculous. At $5+ a drink this definitely can't be a regular spot for me but I'd definitely give their other menu items a try. read more

This boba place is hidden, next to Mokkoji Shabu and Starbucks in the Cypress Village shopping center. Parking is ample and there's open patio seating available. I like how cute and clean the shop was and how they brew the loose leaf teas in the coffee beakers. The staff wore masks and gloves while preparing our drinks. We ordered: Watermelon Rose Mojito with aloe - sooo refreshing and delicious! I ordered 25% sweetness and it was perfect! Oolong milk tea with honey boba and almond milk - I liked that they were able to substitute for almond or soy milk, however, the tea was super bitter and tasted horrible. The boba was freshly made and soft but the taste ruined it. Overall, an ok experience. We would only return for their fruit teas and go elsewhere for milk tea. read more
