I was here the other day and it was my first visit to Redstraw. Since Thai Milk Tea's are my thing, I wanted to see what their "Thai Sea Salt Cream" (24oz. Iced) is all about. The Thai Tea tasted okay, it lacked the bold brewed flavor I was looking for. However, it was slightly strong in caffeine due to the black tea. Also, I couldn't rely on the whipped sea cream toppings as an added kick in flavor, it was sweet but I couldn't taste much of the salt in it. It was kinda of a slap on addition, so the quality was just average. Now about their plastic cups, I found them too soft and after every sip the cup would compress easily, especially it gets annoying once you get through a quarter of your drink. Maybe next time I'll try their Redstraw Milk Tea since it's one of their top favorites. read more

I've never been to a tea store with such botanic and fruity teas, but I have to say that not only are the teas creatively crafted but they taste so exotic but at the same time so GOOD. It's a little pricey but it IS organic and healthier than most tea stores so there's that...my favorites are the rose garden, new zealand sunny slopes, the milk teas and the new mango mojito is AMAZING. If you like the minty, basily those types of herby essences in drinks then you should definitely try their teas. They seem very cocktaily as well :) A lot of people think the teas are lacking in sweetness and I understand that, but I argue (in my opinion) that it's because we're not accustomed to the naturality and organic ingredients that they use to craft their beverages. Because majority of boba or tea places use lots of syrup and artificial flavoring, it's only fair to assume that Redstraw are not as sugary and a little bland, but hey, at least it's not as unhealthy as other brands. The boba I believe is sweet enough to balance out the teas themselves. **also I heard that the toppings (such as boba, jelly etc.) are not going to include the $.50 price even after the soft opening but we'll have to see read more

Finally! I found a new tea spot that I actually like that is relatively close to me! We wanted to try the watermelon rose mojito but I guess this was their soft opening and so they didn't have this tea so we got the Green mojito and the Grasshopper. The green mojito was delightfully refreshing with a great taste of tea, mojito and lemon. We got it the least sweet as possible for both (which is 25%) although I feel like the Grasshopper could have been a bit less sweeter. The Grasshopper tasted like cantaloupe juice, which I absolutely love. I will definitely be back to give their other drinks a shot. Only reason why I gave 4 stars was because the drinks are a bit pricey in my opinion. $10.50 for 2 drinks is a bit much. read more

I asked the guy at the register if my online order was in queue, and he said no and I see him move my online order receipt from the front counter, to the girl making the drinks. Redstraw has quickly become my favorite bubble tea spot in all of Orange County. If you have followed any of my reviews before you know that I am not an adventure bubble tea enthusiast, I like to keep things simple - I like my Jasmine Green Milk Tea with Tapioca. If I'm feeling adventurous I'll spring for a fruit tea but it's pretty rare for me to stray. Their menu here is pretty simple, not too overwhelming with a lot of gimmicks and flavors. They have both hot and cold options for most of their drinks and have a nice selections of toppings you can customize your drink with. For anyone keeping count they also use organic milk here. What sets Redstraw above all other bubble tea shops is the delicate flavor of the drink. It doesn't tastes heavy nor do I feel weighed down. Each sip is light and delicate - the tea flavor is never overwhelming or too weak - they brew it perfectly without scorching the leaves. I always get less sugar because I'm trying to be good (haha) and I found that the sweetness is perfect for me. The tapioca from experience is always soft with a slight sweetness as well. And a side note about their dedicated employees - I have stopped by here at least once a week as my in isolation treat to grab a drink and they have taken so many precautions to ensure safety. Not only do they have markers on the ground of where their patrons should be standing to order but the works are wearing double masks as well as face guards. I also see them constantly wiping down counters and cleaning in their downtime. A few things to note: - Their storefront is small with a standing tea bar and limited intimate seating. - Hours continue to vary due to COVID19 so keep an eye on that. read more

This place is GREAT! I used to get the signature red straw milk tea but some time during COVID, they seemed to have changed the tea blend and it doesn't have the delicious subtle floral flavor. I wouldn't recommend the signature milk tea anymore. However, they have plenty of other great options like the French daisy which is a green tea with lemon and butterfly pea. It tastes like lemon iced tea but it's the perfect blend of sweetness, tartness, and tea in a striking blue color. The drinks are on the pricier side but it does come with a free topping of your choice! I've checked out Redstraw 3 times so far, and I haven't been disappointed yet! They have a wide selection of classic milk teas and fruity teas, as well as some other interesting mixtures. I've tried Rose Garden, Green Mojito, and Grasshopper. Of those three, Green Mojito tasted the best! Very clean and refreshing, with the right amount of tea flavor. Rose Garden is quite fragrant, but not overpowering. The lychee flavor nicely compliments the rose. While Grasshopper has a nice blend of green and jasmine teas, the cucumber juice does settle quickly, and the grainy bits aren't pleasant to taste afterwards. Just need to constantly stir and chug quickly for that one. I will definitely come back. It's reasonably priced for a tea drink shop in Irvine, and the service is super friendly. Very unprofessional staff. Staff asked us if we would like a receipt after our drink purchase. Wanting to save paper I said no.. not realizing that our drink number was going to be on the receipt. So after a while, they called a number with the drink I order.. not knowing I grabbed someone else's drink. The staff was very rude about the situation. But honestly, I think they need to work on quality control or at least make sure that the baristas follow the standardized recipe b/c my drinks tasted so different each time I order. I was looking for a non-caffeinated option for a friend and they were so helpful in letting me know they had a whole section of non-caffeinated drinks. I ended up get her the organic Rooibos Milk Tea with soy milk. I'll definitely try it for myself someday but I usually come here for 2 drinks. My go to drinks here are the French Daisy and Watermelon Rose Mojito. Both are so unique (haven't found any other place nearby that makes these) and also just good tasting drinks. I always get mine at half sugar. The French Daisy is jasmine green tea with fresh lemon. It's also just pretty with the butterfly tea in it. The watermelon rose mojito is watermelon juice and oolong tea mixed with mint. So refreshing on a hot day or if you just ate something heavy it's the perfect palate cleanser. Redstraw was the quick stop I didn't expect to pop by after a long day at work (when we could still go to and from work at the time). I wasn't feeling the best at the time so I was looking for something warm to soothe my tummy but still be tasty and fruity at the same time! When stepping inside the little store during the late evening, I was greeted by the sound of small chatter and the glasses being washed while drinks were being made to order. The interior was small and quaint, a great place to catch up with friends during a random day or just to sit and do some quick studying during the week when possible. The menu was extensive with a large variety of options to choose from between hot and cold drinks. What was interesting was the different combinations of drinks offered. There was some unique drinks but I was in the mood for something a bit more conventional and opted to get the hot peach mandarin tea which sounded perfect on a cold day when I was currently recovering from a cold that had attacked me at the time. Luckily this cold left me with my sense of taste as I was able to still taste a bit of the drink once it was ordered. As the name said, it was an oriental black tea with the taste of ripe peach. Usually I always expect a sense of overwhelming sweetness (even when I ask for 50% sweetness) when going to boba shops like Redstraw, but it wasn't too sweet in this case. You could really taste the tea flavor without it overpowering the black tea as well. Usually, I don't drink hot drinks at these locations but Redstraw may be the exception since the flavors weren't too much and just the right balance. Although I haven't had the chance to go back to Redstraw since that first encounter, I would definitely be open to stopping by again when things lighten up. read more

They don't charge for add-ons and they also use organic milk which is definitely a plus! The prices are also very reasonable or even cheap compared to other places. However, the customer service is a little iffy. Melisa was definitely in a mood. If I was working in the front and taking orders, I would be a little more welcoming and happy. That's why there's a saying, "fake it til you make it." A big part of the customer experience is the service we receive. Even if I got a really bad-tasting drink but the worker was really nice, I would be more likely to give a higher rating and be satisfied with my visit.
