Wow!! I'm impressed with the variety and creativity of the dishes here. Disclaimer though: for authentic dim sum, I wouldn't recommend it but if you want a fusion experience, I think it's worth trying. We opted for the free flow brunch, which is $58 per person. The best dishes were definitely the duck lettuce wrap appetizer and the duck fried rice. The duck here is really good. Next time, I will definitely try the Peking duck. I love how they put eyes on the crab dumplings and the Pac-Man dumplings are also sooo cute. But to be honest, the guacamole didn't make sense for me. Color-wise, the presentation was nice but I wouldn't actually eat guacamole with dumplings... The chicken is really salty. I don't recommend this. The curry with the crab dumplings were also salty. I appreciate the service as they packed our leftovers in to-go boxes, which made for a nice second meal. Don't forget about dessert! They don't have a dessert menu so they'll just tell you about it. The chocolate dumpling took some time to make and come out but it was delicious! It has Nutella and banana inside. Usually comes with four pieces but I just wanted a taste so they made me one. We also got key lime pie, which really completed our meal perfectly. If you go their website, you can get a $50 off $100 discount via InKind.
I went here for dinner with friends. When they first opened, getting a reservation was almost impossible, so I was excited. The space is nice, although the ambience felt more Italian than Chinese, and the prices are on the higher side. The service was excellent and my glass was never empty, which made the experience even better. Food highlights: the scallion pancakes were crisp and flavorful, and the beef and broccoli with filet mignon was easily the best bite of the night. The meat was tender and full of flavor, but it mostly just tasted like steak over broccoli and not really any Asian flavor or influence. The hot and sour soup was good, but I've had better for much less. The lollipops weren't a favorite. Overall, if you are looking for traditional Chinese food this isn't the place. While there were some tasty bites and great service, I probably would not come back at these prices.
I've been wanting to check out Red Farm for some time now. But... I just couldn't justify eating Chinese food at the price point it's in. However, after being invited to a friend's birthday dinner in their private room, why not. As expected, the prices are staggering & the portions are small--I nearly choked when I saw the menu. The Peking Duck alone is $105, double the price of Bamboo House's version, and honestly, just as good, maybe even less so. Be careful getting here, as Red Ash (Italian restaurant) is around the corner and may add some confusion. While the dishes we had were tasty (Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings, Gold Coin Scallion Pancakes served Curry, etc), Red Farm is comparable to many other Americanized Asian restaurants in the area who focus on the same attributes--Elevated Chinese food using quality ingredients catering to the American palette. Note: Parking can be a challenge. Only street parking (free, but requires patience), a paid private lot or parking garage (also requires payment) is available.
The service and the ambiance were 5 stars, the food was 4. Pregnancy craving said I needed soup dumplings, even though I don't love Chinese food. So to redfarm we go, and the soup dumplings did not disappoint. Delicious! But also $20, so $5/dumpling, that hurts. The pork fried buns were dry ($17) The pacman dumplings are kinda dumb, not worth the hype at all ($19) The mocktail was very good ($9) The half Peking duck was good ($58) and glad I got to try it once. We were offered a small side of white rice, but could upgrade to fried rice. I did say I don't like it so it will only be for my husband, thinking it would be a SIDE. It was a full $24 bowl of fried rice. I didn't like that move at all, very miscommunicated. Overall the only thing I would get again would be the soup dumplings. I'm being generous with 4 stars and probably wouldn't crave coming back here. Pro-tip: good luck finding parking. They don't validate any.
Great service. Food was good but a bit more Americanized that I would have liked. I got the hot and sour soup, scallion pancakes, lettuce wraps and shumai. Nothing in particular stuck out. Will go back for an another try one day!
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when we had food and drinks here. This is not your typical Chinese and dim sum restaurant. They had some different twists to dishes such as the Pac Man dumplings. I definitely want to go back to try out more dishes. Also, the space is nice and the service is fantastic!
This place is so delectable and amazing. Make sure you end your meal with the hot chocolate dumplings. They are unlike anything I have ever had before! The Peking duck and the soup dumplings...omg really absolutely everything. The staff was very busy but did their best to be attentive and gave us fabulous recommendations. We actually changed what we were planning to order and were very happy we did!
Price: I am totally willing to pay $$$$ for quality, flavor explosion and culinary uniqueness. It was one of those moments where I was like "meh, ok tastes like every other basic Chinese/dumpling restaurant." (With a smaller price tag) Food: Nothing excited me. I was so upset with dessert... slice of banana + piece of chocolate wrapped in a dumpling (when asked to bring the best thing on the dessert menu) Staff: very friendly, attentive and thoughtful Vibe: warm and cozy, plenty of tables and booths
My first time at RedFarm was life changing! Little dramatic but this was my first time ever trying soup dumplings and I am obsessed! I've been craving them non-stop ever since. It wasn't too crowded on a Thursday night. With a group of 3, we were able to be seated right away without a reservation. The service was very friendly and attentive and the food was so delicious and fresh. The wide rice noodles with BBQ'd duck is a must try. Can't wait to go back!
We came due to an AMEX plat resy credit and wanted to try some fresh takes on dimsum and did the rolling brunch for $58/person. We had a fantastic server (Diar) who didn't hesitate to give us recommendations when we didn't know what to order. Diar was also super attentive without being overbearing - refilling our water frequently, noticing when we were ready for the next round of orders, etc. The dishes were suuuper flavorful -- and if they were more traditional, they actually tasted authentically chinese (as opposed to your american chinese takes). If you're here with a party of 4, would highly recommend going with the rolling all you can eat option because the portions are perfect for sharing. Highly recommend, definitely one of our better Resy finds!
Dropped in for an early dinner and caught the tail end of happy hour (which was good given the pricing of the cocktails). The restaurant has a bar area where you can get a drink if you need to wait for a table. Seating is both within the restaurant and a covered patio area. It looks like the restaurant could accommodate large parties, but would really require advance reservations if you want to do that. According to the website - valet parking is available for $12 (plus tip). The happy hour menu was a welcome reprieve for pricing - both food and drinks. Cocktails were near the $20 mark so $10 happy hour pricing made them much more affordable (if not an indication of the mark up). Several appetizer plates were available as well for reduced pricing which gave us the opportunity to try more things. Our server Taylor was awesome and helped with recommendations and kept our little table full of food and devoid of empty plates. Overall - I would say that the food was pretty good albeit leaning more towards the over salted side. Pricing was rather elevated - which I think is owned in part to their other locales (NY and Miami) - this makes it less of a place I would have on rotation and more of an occasional change of pace restaurant. Here's what we had: Spicy Crispy Beef - Crisp (or at least hard) bits of fried beef tossed in a slightly spicy sauce (a little sweet/spicy) with onions. This was much better when hot - less so as it cooled. BBQ Duck Lettuce Wraps - a mix of dice duck and some veggies with beautiful Bibb lettuce leaves. Served with what appears to be a pico de Gallo and a sauce. We were excited about this dish but it was turned out to be just ok. The duck mix wasn't memorable, the pico was an odd accompaniment, but the sauce added a little more depth to the flavor). We wouldn't order this one again. Mushroom & Vegetable Spring Rolls - a bit of a misnomer since they aren't exactly spring rolls, but are more fried egg rolls. They show up looking like trees on a cucumber base with wild fried limbs. An interesting presentation, but the rolls were a surprise delight for the evening. Easily in our top 3. Chicken and Shrimp Lollipops - two long toothpicks adorned with a golf ball sized ball of shrimp and chicken that had been fried. If you try to bite - they will fall apart (maybe better as a single bite). We liked these. Ma Po Tofu with Chopped pork and shrimp - this was also a very good and also the least salty of the dishes we had. It paired well with a side of rice (but also - getting charged $5 for a bowl of rice??? I mean it's it a staple of Chinese food?) Wide Rice Noodles with BBQ'd Duck - this one had fairly authentic flavors with nice wide rice noodles and tasty duck. This one was universally well liked. Drinks - The Eastside Roku - Roku Gin, Bergamot, Butterfly Pea Blossom, Shiso, Cucumber and Lemon to combine in a flavorfully refreshing purple drink. Kiyushiki Old-Fashioned - Suntory Tiki, Nori, Angostura Bitteres, Ginger and Agave. Makes a pretty decent lightly flavored old-fashioned.
Great ambiance and the servers are always really welcoming. But that only gets so far at a restaurant. The food is really hit or miss and expensive for the sizes. The shrimp triangles are good but only three little triangles for $17, the short rib starter was so fatty and lacking flavor, I didn't finish it. $24 for snow peas without even any protein is steep. However, the key lime pie is some of the best I have ever had.
Honestly this place was super overpriced and underwhelming. We were really excited to try this place since we love dimsum but nothing was especially impressive. Not to mention we also had a server that was quite pushy with trying to get us to order alot more than we wanted. We started with the crispy beef per her recommendation and there were sooo many pieces that were just fried batter. The ones that actually had beef were tasty. We then had the pan fried pork buns which were good. We then had the shrimp shumai which was standard and good. We ended with the applewood bacon fried rice which was probably our favorite and definitely a good portion size too. With places like Ling Wu that are stellar, I'm glad we checked this place off but probably won't be back.

RedFarm is quite expensive for the style and quality of Chinese food being served. Unfortunately, the Peking duck was a major disappointment for us. The skin wasn't even crispy, and the duck itself was dry with an unpleasant odor that made it difficult to enjoy. The other dishes were better by comparison, but none were particularly memorable or impressive enough to justify the price. Overall, the quality and value simply didn't meet our expectations, so this is a spot I would skip. read more

Overall: 4.1/5 [dine in and delivery] We dined here twice and also ordered from them once on Uber Eats, which gave us a good sense of the menu. The food is really only worth it during happy hour, but the service stood out every time. Our waiter, Robert, and bartender, Scotland, were friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel special. We were too full for dessert during one visit, so they surprised us with a complimentary appetizer for my birthday instead, which was incredibly kind. Spicy Crispy Beef ($12 HH | $21): The first time we tried this dish, it was phenomenal. The second time around, it was still good, but we got tired of it fairly quickly. Yuzu & Wasabi Candied Walnut Shrimp ($8 HH | $12): Came with two large shrimp that were absolutely delicious. This is one of our go to items. Chicken & Shrimp Lollipops ($6 HH): Came with two chunky lollipops that were really good and reminded me of a dim sum style dish. BBQ Duck Lettuce Wraps ($12 HH): The flavors were okay, but after a few bites, I had enough of this appetizer. It is also pretty messy to eat after one bite since the lettuce wraps weren't very strong. Also the side of salsa is a bit random and doesn't go with this dish. Crispy Oxtail Dumplings ($19): Came with four dumplings that were good to try once, but not worth the price in my opinion. Ed's Pastrami Egg Roll ($15): A huge egg roll cut in half and packed with meat. Very filling and especially good with the sauce. Crispy Duck & Crab Dumplings ($18): Four cute crab claw shaped dumplings with curry in the center. This was one of the last dishes to come out, and by then we were already very full. Since we had ordered a lot of fried food, we were not able to fully appreciate this dish. I thought the dumpling was alright but didn't really try the curry. Thin Rice Noodles with BBQ'd Duck ($34 Uber Eats): Very expensive for the portion size. The BBQ duck was delicious and easily the best part of the dish. Despite the name, they used thin egg noodles instead of rice noodles. It came with garlic chili and chili oil, which were not necessary but did add extra flavor. Golden Hour ($22): Aberfeldy 12 Scotch, Domaine Canton, Amaro Nonino. Marisol ($18): Rosaluna Mezcal, Chartreuse, Gentian, Vanilla Bean, Oleo Saccharum, Pineapple. Average and sounded better than it tasted. Midnight Express ($10 HH | $18): Four Roses Bourbon, Licor 43, Amaro Averna, espresso. Recommended by the bartender and absolutely delicious. Waking Up in Oaxaca ($18): Rosaluna Mezcal, Chambery Blanc, Coffee Bean, Cynar, Classico Bitter. read more
Pro-tip: Happy Hour from 4-6 on cocktails ($10), glasses of wine ($10), and bottled beer ($5), as well as a select of starters and dim sum. Overall a great experience, especially service wise! Server Robert was fantastic and was able to share all his recs without a loss of breath. He was incredibly attentive and prioritized our experience to be a good one! We enjoyed a sharing of the Peking Duck, which was well enjoyed. Would highly recommend ordering a side of veggies, as we felt we were missing something (this was due to our own choosing). I didn't love that many of the cocktails were pre-batched, so I may decide to go with something different next time. Dim Sum choices were abundant, but seemed to be more of the carb and less of the meat. In the heart of downtown, an accessible option (although I guess parking could've been easier, so maybe ride share), especially if you're planning on walking around afterwards! Close enough to head over to Moody Center (ACL Live) for a show after! read more

We did not have a bad experience, it was just underwhelming and lacked quite a bit. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, so I would not spend a lot of time contemplating what to wear, as it is very casual and that extends to the staff. Our waitress Marissa was very sweet, but everyone was just kind of young and not as professional as one would have hoped at an establishment such as Red Farm. We dined here the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it was quite empty. I am not sure if this is normal or if it was due to it being a holiday weekend. At any rate, there were times it seemed to be more staff than patrons. Not really knowing where to start, we began with the pac-man dumplings and crispy duck and crab dumplings. The pac-man dumplings were good, but I felt they are more designed for pics on SM. The crab and duck dumplings were not your typical dumplings; they were deep fried and the filling was stuffed inside of a small crab shell. They also had little red eyes, again for SM pics. (Please see pics below). They were awful as was the curry that accompanied the dumplings. For our mains, we had the mushroom and vegetable spring rolls that were good, but the presentation was a bit over the top. The shrimp stuffed chicken lacked flavor, but the duck fried rice and wok-fried string beans and brussels were good. There are plenty of amazing Asian restaurants in ATX and while Red Farm does not rank in my top 10, they do have a few options that sounded appealing and I would be willing to give them another try on a to-go order. read more

My husband and I came on a Wednesday night for date night. We heard great things, so we couldn't wait to try! The restaurants is upscale, with low lighting and a mix of chairs and comfy couches. Service was excellent. The staff knew what they were talking about and food came out pretty quickly. For two, we ordered the pork soup dumplings, crispy beef, pastrami egg rolls, the wide noodles with duck and the key lime pie for dessert. Sadly, I wasn't impressed or satisfied with RedFarm's food, especially for a high price. The soup dumplings and noodles lacked flavors. The crispy beef was alright and the pastrami egg rolls tasted like something I could get at a local bar. The key lime pie shocked me! It was really good (probably fav dish), but $16 for a small slice?! I don't think so. I would come back fro the service, but the food was very subpar for me, especially at a high price. read more

THE BIG: Modern American-Chinese cuisine in downtown Austin. Nice decor inside and parking is relegated to the street or parking garages nearby. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here on a low key wednesday night and it was just that. We had a little wait while being seated which was weird because not that many people was inside. We ordered the pastrami egg rolls, crispy beef, shrimp/crab soup dumplings, bbq duck flat noodles, and the key lime pie. All portions were tiny to be honest. The best was probably the soup dumplings, but at 4 pieces for $25, there was more to be had. Service was great. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall damage done for 5 items was around $140. Stopped by RedFarm for an early dinner on Christmas (thank to for staying open ). The interior feels very warm and inviting. The staff was top notch. We probably had 7-8 people stop by our table to clean, swap plates, pour water, take our order, etc. The food is good with plenty of new non-traditional takes on traditional items like lamb dumplings and pastrami egg rolls. The price is where I'm struggling. We spent over $220 for 2 people. This place is definitely worth checking out, but I wouldn't show up too hungry. read more
Had to try out this restaurant! It has cross-cultural vibes. There is a RedFarm in NYC and anticipating opening in Miami. After perusing the menu, I ordered the Peking Duck. I am not sure if I actually have had this dish before. The duck was not very flavorful on it's own but it was accompanied by a few sauces. Served with a few sparse veggies and light pancakes (tortillas). It was an ample amount of food to be shared. Will go back to try some of the more reasonably priced dishes. Visited Red Farm after recently visiting the other new Chinese restaurant in town (Zoé Tong) and unfortunately was not blown away. We were able to easily book a reservation in advance and were seated quickly, however our server took about 30 minutes to take our order, then had to take it again 10 minutes later after she misplaced her notebook. We ordered the shrimp-stuffed shishito poppers with tomatillo sauce, pan fried pork buns, long life noodles with morel mushrooms and yellow leeks, applewood smoked bacon fried rice, and three chili chicken with peanuts, and split it between four people. The portion sizes are slightly above average but still rather pricey, and we left the restaurant still hungry. I'd recommend ordering the gluten free version of the shishito poppers which come grilled instead of fried and have a much better texture (there was a kitchen mixup so we ended up trying both the gluten free and menu versions -- trust me!). The pan fried pork buns were also good and had the right amount of crispness, however came out kind of cold. The three chili chicken was our favorite dish. The peppers have good flavor and the chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. In contrast, the long life noodles did not have a lot of flavor, however the morel and brown button mushrooms in the noodles were delicious. Red Farm's applewood smoked bacon fried rice also did not have a lot of flavor and was pretty dry. If you order this dish I would definitely request soy sauce or any one of their other sauces, it is not already on the table. Their sauces are very flavorful and delicious. We tried the peanut coconut satay, hoisin, soy sauce, and housemade chili oil. The drinks were flavorful too. Our favorite was the El Sabio, which had delicious yuzu foam. The drinks take a while to come out, so I would recommend ordering them as soon as possible after you're seated. They bring out fresh plates for everyone after each dish which can be nice if you do not want sauces/flavors mixing, however seemed kind of wasteful. The restaurant decor is trendy and its location is conveniently located on West Third Street. Overall, I was expecting more from a restaurant at this price point that is successfully operating multiple locations in New York. Maybe it is just this restaurant, or maybe they are still experiencing growing pains, but I am not sure if or when I'll be returning. read more
- We had a reservation on Monday but they ended up only operating Wednesday thru Sunday. So they moved us to Wednesday but took very good care of us. - The restaurant had farm crates, ducks and plants for decor and it was buzzing with people. - Our waiter was very friendly and explained the background of RedFarm and the owners and their passion. - He made great recommendations for us on both drinks and the food - the most popular and personal favorites. Drinks: - The Lễ Club Hot was spicy, tangy, smoky and refreshing. I would get this drink again. - The old fashioned was on point and had a great flavor Food - You can taste and smell the wok hay from the various dishes which is a good thing - The truffled scallion pancakes were delicious. Mushroom flavored with crispy leeks and we topped it with the house made crispy chili oil. - Lamb dumplings - lamb flavor but not gamey. They added ginger to balance. Different flavor - lamb and cumin. - Duck noodles - husband said it's the best duck he's had in Austin. They say it has less fat and it's higher quality. It had a perfect amount of fat for flavor. The noodles were delicious too. - the lobster came with a tail and two claws, it was also delicious and had that wok fried ginger flavor. Our favorite was the duck with noodle. Caveat overall: I went back and forth balancing everything between 3 and 4 stars. I took into account Austin market, holidays, etc. TLDR to eaters: expensive for confused food and experience. Looking for dumplings you can enjoy? Look elsewhere. This was hard. Let me start with the easy - very cute and inviting. Their dark wood ceiling as a sound board and also contrast to white washed brick was actually extremely well played. yes, we notice. Here is where things get tricky because I don't think the service itself was not fantastic and the food itself was not fantastic.... It was a combined experience that I'm not sure was intentional. Either way, it was flawlessly executed... I had to quickly write this review because we couldn't even enjoy our food. They tell you to order the entire family style meal at once (cool I love expectation setting) but then what happened was a whirlwind of "what the fuck happened? Did we eat?" Situation. Food was dropped at the too small table without saying what dish it was, so fast (again could be great service) they had to stack plates then tried taking plates where we weren't even done and it was pretty stressful. Now, dumpling family style street food is fast, and honestly amazeballs.... Were they trying to mimick that? Idk. But if they were, then don't charge that much to not even enjoy the food three of us had a total of 5 drinks (3 beers and 2 of the house roses) along with three dumplings and black bass for $188 before tip. So long story short: it has potential? Would like to see them figure out which angle they're going for and nail it. Before then, I will not be back. In town for a concert and found this GREAT Happy Hour Spot! We pretty much ordered every item on the Small Bites happy hour menu and everything was AMAZING!!! plates came out in stages, crispy beef was a little too crispy but delicious flavor. The chicken and shrimp lollipops were a delightful surprise! Pan fried pork buns had an incredible "chorizo flavor". The STAR of the show for me was the BBQ fried rice. Not too much a BBQ taste but the beef was soooooo tender and rice cooked perfectly! Our server- Sire was an absolute Gem!!!! He was sooooo very friendly, professional and helpful! Very clean restaurant, spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating! read more

Yes it's pricey but the food here is quite elevated in comparison to run of the mill Asian fusion places. They do a really good job of making their take on Asian favorites interesting and tasty. It's not boring food. The execution on each plate and the variety of flavors is impressive. They also have many great options for Vegans of which the best is the Happy Buddha. Our favorites were the Pastrami Egg Roll, Crispy beef, Suffed shishito peppers, and shrimp/snow pea dumplings. These were top notch dishes. Service was super friendly and prompt. read more
Redfarm was one of top restaurants ive been waiting for to open this year in Austin. I really liked how they added their own twist/flavors to traditionally chinese dishes. The teas we ordered were also really nice. I personally thought their food was way better than wu chow. The peking duck was tasty but i think i prefer bamboo house's duck. The chicken dumplings and the crispy beef were my favorite dishes of the evening. Will definitely be back to try out their full menu in the future. read more

Coming to this well rated restaurant I was expecting a lot more Entering the restaurant we were greeted with "we don't open till 5" it was 4:55p We were escorted to our table and greeted by a server who had the warmth of a cold fish This maybe harsh but when you feel like you are inconveniencing someone it's not very inviting feeling The order was taken and the food was delivered by a much friendlier staff The bus boy couldn't have been friendlier We ordered three different dumplings The soup dumpling was our least favorite (a bit tasteless) We ordered the hot and sour soup that was delicious and so was the sea bass, shrimp and cashews and rice noodles The chicken and peanuts tasted as though they were soaked in vinegar Overall it was an overly priced okay meal Would I come again ,no Maybe being spoiled by so many great restaurants in Austin I had higher expectations The Ambiance is lacking as it felt a bit sterile read more

Fantastic service! The staff were all knowledgeable, kind and friendly. I can't say enough about the manager of the restaurant. He came to the table and asked questions, made recommendations and made sure each person was happy with their dinning experience! The food was delicious, the dumplings were perfect to share, along with the curry. I would highly recommended this location if in the Austin area! read more

This was a great restaurant. We had amazing food and incredible service by Evan and staff. He was so personable and provided great detail about the items we were ordering. We enjoyed the shrimp and chicken dumplings, pan fried pork buns, pac man dumplings, and oxtail dumplings. Entrees were great also, we enjoyed the BBQ Duck and noodles and the crispy shrimp stuffed chicken. Don't forget to leave room for the chocolate dumplings. Looking forward to returning again. read more
