I was visiting LA from NY and needed new boots and I didn't think there were stores in NYC. I headed to this Red Wing store thinking it would be open til at least 7pm on a Saturday but noticed they closed at 5pm. It was 4:30pm and I rushed over anyway. I got there at 5:01pm and there was a customer inside. I felt bad even asking if they were open (knowing they should be closed) but a store employee, Mike, told me it was fine. I was looked around, knowing I wanted a shoe I saw online, and Mike checked the system and saw they were not in stock, however, he suggested I try on another boot with a similar feel so at least I could know what size I wanted of the boot I was looking for if another store had the boot I wanted in stock. I proceeded to try on three different sizes until I found the right fit. Mike looked it up and saw that none of the stores had the boot in stock but one could order it for me. He guided me when I had questions about how the boots mold, and how one should proceed with wider feet. He even ensured I tried on the shoes on both feet since no two feet are the same - and he was right. Mike even knew there was a Red Wing store that had just opened in NYC and suggested I go there with a card he gave me that was the model number and size I would need. From the start, Mike knew there was nothing in the store he could sell me because his store didn't carry the boot - no store did - and yet he went beyond the call of duty of helping me, educating me and providing outstanding service to someone who has come into his store when they should be closing up. In a typical situation like this, I would usually be turned away from a store and simply locked out. Mike not only welcomed me in, aided me, but provided all this help for something he knew he couldn't sell me. I'm looking at these other reviews and there are so many comments about the staff's knowledge and help and I just wanted to reinforce the - not only great service but - great care Mike showed me, and applaud his kindness and willing to selflessly help me. read more

Make sure you call first before going to make sure the store is actually open. Went on Friday afternoon to buy a pair of boots. They were closed for lunch at 2 in the afternoon. Seems odd to me that the store does not have the proper staff they must close for lunch. The sign said they would be back at 1:40. We were there at 2:17 and they weren't back yet. If the person working does not know how to tell time unless they have a digital clock then that's a whole other issue. But when the hour hand is just before the 2 and the min hand is at the 8, that means 1:40. Next shocker...I called another store to check. The very nice gentleman at the Culver City store tried to call the manager. He called me back to tell me that he wasn't able to reach anyone. If I was the manager from the Burbank store I would have called me back as soon as time permits to apologize for any inconvenience and see if I had made a purchase already. Since you have my number already. Maybe say if I came back they would make sure to be open so I could buy the boots I wanted. Well it's been a whole day and no call. Guess I'm going to go buy some Timberlands tomorrow. Redwing just lost a $300 sale. That's how much the boots I wanted to buy cost. Better luck next time Redwing. read more

Amazing place! They have great work shoes that I was able to get for my brother as a birthday gift. The staff are out of this world and were super helpful in getting me the right shoes. I did get the wrong size at first, but when I came back for an exchange, they made the process super easy and fast. Love this place! Ran in to grab some new boots for work. Used to go to the downtown "red wing" store, which isn't really a Red Wing store. The team here was so helpful. Found me my boots, made recommendations and filled me in on all of the services, warranties etc that they offer. I've been getting Red Wing shoes for 5 years now with good reason. 1st. They are made in America 2nd. They are the only shoes I can wear that will last me the entire year. I have never had a problem with service at this store. I do have a problem with the fact that they will not carry the shoe I wear in stock. So I took 2 stars off for that. My husband and I were in the shop a few weeks ago and We got such good service! I don't normally write yelp reviews but Kara really knew her stuff. I know nothing about boots except that my husband constantly complains about his feet hurting which is what brought us here in the first place. She fitted him (apparently my husband has been wearing the wrong size lol) and she helped us find foot pads for pain. He then made a point that my current shoes were not made in the USA and belittle me in front of another sales man. I can't believe the complete lack of customer service I received today. The boots they sell here are top knotch and real leather. I've gotten a couple of work boots here and they are simply the best quality although pricey, but its worth it. The guy also knows alot about boots and they will clean and give your boots maintenace if you bring them to the store. read more

I read all the reviews and was amazed by the contrast between those that were delighted with the service and others that were horrified by indifferent and rude sales persons. My experience was neither rude nor delighted but rather the salesman was indifferent and seemingly uninterested in selling me a pair of boots. He was trying to convince me that a non-uncomfortably small boot would magically change if I wore them long enough. But what would it do to my feet in the meantime? I'm not a novice boot wearer and have been a Red Wing customer for five decades. I know when a boot fits right and when it doesn't. I asked for a half size larger which he gave me and that's what I chose to purchase. When I got home I realized that the box he'd given me were for the ones that were too small. So now I have to trudge back out to Burbank hoping they'll be open and not at lunch to exchange the boots. My best experiences with Redwing stores are with the Upland, California store. Their sales personnel actually like what they're doing and make certain that one is happy with the purchase. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the Burbank store. read more

My visit to this store made me wonder how they stay in business. The staff couldn't possibly be more indifferent to the concept of customer service. The girl who "helped" me was impolite and seemed to be bothered that I was there at all. They didn't have the boots that I'd located on the internet, and she wouldn't even be able to order them for more than a week because they were upgrading their computer system, and if I wanted to wait that long, I'd have to pay in advance because she didn't want to "get stuck" with a pair of boots. I had to give a shout out to Red Wing Burbank. I've been buying Red Wing for years and was very happy when the Burbank store opened. It saves me from having to drive to the West Side. I had purchased a pair of steel toe work shoes nine months ago and had been wearing them on and off not being happy with the fit, sort of hoping they would get better. The shoe really was giving me problems, but I was just too busy or lazy to get them back within the six month window. The Manager kindly explained that while 9 months was under the the 1 year defect warrantee, I was way over the six month fit satisfaction policy. He then to my amazement offered a full credit toward another pair. It's very clear to me that Red Wing Burbank wants 100% customer satisfaction, and stands behind their produce 100%. You won't find this level of commitment at any of those other "work boot" places. Thank you again! I'm a very satisfied customer. read more

This place used to have much better service. Not sure what happened over the years. Never really had a problem waiting to be served because the shoes are amazing. Maybe they are a little understaffed at times, but was always willing to wait since my husband swears by these shoes. Recently, had his shoes resoled and thought everything was fine. Showed up at the store two weeks later and no one knew what we were talking about. Yes, they LOST our shoes!!! WTF? Took forever to locate them. The guy that helped find the pair was very helpful and did a rush job to get it done, but the person who originally took the shoe basically never processed the order or send them out. The product is great, but the service here definitely needs to get better before they lose all their customers. We will probably give another location a try next time. It seems that with every visit, things seem to get more and more worse. That was the last straw. Sorry, Burbank. read more

This location and staff are the greatest. I had 3 pairs of boots resoled last year. One of my moc toes started to come apart. Tre sent them in and had them restitch them and they are good as gold again.
