Came here for a quick shoe repair for my Tory Burch flats where the logo button had fallen off and there was a big black mark on the side. I was greeted right away by this nice Armenian older man. Super pleased with the great work I've received from Compton's Shoe Repair (and not JUST on my shoes)! Located right next to Downtown Burbank (with a parking lot conveniently in front of the store), Arthur and the other craftspeople at Compton's Shoe Repair do top-class work at a great value. As you can see in the photos, I've asked Arthur to help apply rubber soles to a pair of leather dress loafers. The soles look like they were part of the shoe - excellently applied! Additionally, I've asked Arthur to help me shorten two leather belts. He shortened them from the buckle side, preserving the original design. You can't tell that the belts have been altered unless you really scrutinize the reverse of the buckle. Also, as someone who is new to owning nicer/luxury items, I'm appreciative of Arthur for giving me advice on how much to shorten the belts. Finally, Arthur's helped me repair two leather bags. On the black bag (as seen in the photo), he removed the fraying handles and replaced them with two new black leather handles, which look great, as if they were part of the original design. On the white bag, he applied a new coat of white paint on the handle area which was yellowed from color transfer; I wish I had a photo of the "before" bag to show the difference. The new coat of paint perfectly matches the old. If you have a pair of shoes or a handbag that need some love and upkeep, a belt that's a little too long, keys that you need duplicated, or anything other kind of job like this, definitely consider Compton's Shoe Repair! read more

So super bummed. About $2k in shoes that have never been worn. Wife wanted to get the red protective bottom to avoid slips and repainting. Took these in, quick service but not impressed with the lack of care around the edging and noticeable blemishes. Clearly removed the brown patent on the toe straps, and the bottom of the black has a chip and visible traces of a rushed job. I grew up in Burbank and was luck to have this amazing shoe repair close to home. As an adult I moved away, but still send all my repairs and watches for battery replacement with my mom who is still in the area. Recently I splurged on my dream Love brand lunch bag that is big enough to carry breakfast and lunch. After two months one of the pieces of nylon that attaches to the strap started to fray and quickly give way. I had my mom take it to Compton's to see what could be done to fix my bag. I was shocked when she returned it to me. The craftsmanship was impeccable. Instead of an easy fix that would involve sewing through the lining. He completely took the side of the bag (lining, zipper, shell) apart, made the repair, and sewed it back together BETTER than new! This business is a gem! We've been going to see Arthur at Compton's Shoe Repair for years. We haven't been there in probably three years, prior to that we went to him for probably 12 years straight to get our shoes re-soled for swing dance use. No matter what type of shoe we brought in: tennis shoes, keds, even golf shoes with spikes - no matter, he did the most fantastic job. With the golf shoes in question he shaved the sole until it was nice and flat and then applied the suede. We've gone to other shoe places here and there, Arthur was always the best and so we pretty much do not go anywhere else and always recommend him to our swing dancing students. PLUS: he has even re-soled a few of my shoes for free. I would wear out the sole so quickly (from lots of dancing) that it would eventually wear out. It still was stuck on there really well, but the front and back would get worn out and when I went back to him to get the shoes re-soled he did it for free. Very nice He's also helped us sew some patches on backpacks. We got some custom embroidered patches made with our logo and then bought a bunch of blank backpacks. Little did I know the way the bags were shaped a normal seamstress with a sewing machine could not do it. Arthur has this sewing mechanism that looks like a stapler and did a rush job and charges us fairly and as always does super fantastic quality! I am only thinking of writing this now because we are doing a clean and I came upon a pair of addidas I had sueded by him and while you can tell the shoes have been worn, the suede job still remains the same (see picture) and it reminded me of how good a job he always does. I took a purse Deluxe on Magnolia this for repair. The purse has a leather lace detail that needed to be replaced. The gentleman behind the counter quoted me a price of $200. It's a designer purse but it's not a Birkin. I said thanks but no thanks. I went to the next nearest repair shop. Comptons leather repair is highly rated and so I felt confident that they could do the job. He also stated that the repair work would be somewhat complicated because of the leather lacing and then he quoted me a price of $60! when I picked up my purse I couldn't even tell where he had made the repairs so my advice is to go to Comptons!!! read more

I wish I could give 100 stars. My horse threw a tantrum at a show and ended up completely ripping off the tail end of the throat latch on my brand new $400 bridle. I thought it was donezo but a friend from the barn recommended Compton's to me. I drove all the way from West LA to Compton's as every place around me only did shoes and didn't feel comfortable with doing this work. Shoes can be quite literally, a pain, and when you finally get them nice and broken-in, well, they look not-so-nice, and broken-in. I had almost given up on a scruffy pair of Merrell boots I love to death because they look too loved-to-death. I brought them in to Compton's with low expectations, but lo and behold! For $8, he brought them back from the dead. Formerly lackluster leather, bleached and abused from sea water, salt, sand, dirt, and grime, came back with the rich glow of time-worn patina. Wow. They also do all sorts of repairs and fixes, and I took the advantage of changing my car smart key battery. I took 2 pairs of shoes in, both handmade, so valuable and unique, and this guy did great work! One pair was boots that needed the heel rebuilt a little, and needed some reinforcement for the leather in the heel. He worked with the existing material, matching it and stitching only where there already was stitching so the outside appearance wouldn't be effected. The other pair was sandals whose sole was separating, so just needed some shoe-glueing back together. He estimated a few days and they were done when I came back then. Sandals ran me $5, the heel rebuild $20, and the reinforcement $18 (I think, the last 2 might be reversed). I'd of course like to pay less as with being a cheapskate and all, but guy did a great job, my one of a kind shoes were well taken care of, and I'll be bringing in more as repairs are needed. read more

I have been going to Compton's for many years and can't recommend them enough. I've been to other places where repairs looked really obvious or changed the character of the shoes altogether. Compton's repairs are never noticeable and are very reasonably priced and high quality. I recently brought in a pair of knee-high FRYE boots, which had one shattered heel. They told me the entire heel shaft would have to be removed and replaced since it was irreparably damaged. Although it was impossible to find the same heel, I was impressed by the different replacement heels they suggested. I ended up selecting a completely different heel style due to comfort rather than a similar style and was really impressed how seamless the replacement looked. It's gone from a regular heel to a stacked heel and you would never know. Wish I had taken before/after pictures! read more

This was my first time taking anything for shoe repair in about ten years, and my first time at Compton's. I took in a pair of heels and a pair of boots that both needed to be re-heeled. I also brought in a second pair of boots with a trickier problem. Two of the boot hooks had popped off and I asked the gentleman at Compton's if he had anything that matched; he said he'd do his best. The hooks were kind of a special finish, and I honestly didn't expect much. I figured the new hooks would be very different. When I went to pick up the boots, he pulled out that boot to show me the hooks and said something about them being a different size. I had to look twice! I couldn't tell for a few seconds which boot hooks were new! He found some that matched the hooks almost perfectly. I was very impressed and the heels on my other two pairs looked great. It was $20 even for all three pairs, which I found very reasonable for the work done. read more
