Wow, where to begin? It was clear from the beginning of the meal that this place survives on traffic from Red Rocks and it seems as though they are ok with knowing that most people are one time visitors. Our burgers and sandwiches took just about 40 minutes to come out and when it did, the food was warm at best and most dishes came out missing items (fries, sauces, salsa). The item that took the longest to come out were chicken wings. Chicken wings, folks. What could be easier to prepare? Sadly this meal came after a fantastic night at Avanti in Denver, but even if it would have come after lunch at McDonalds it would still be relatively terrible. Just had an AWFUL experience here. The owner was screaming across the restaurant so loudly that we were unable to speak across the table. When she stood next to our table screaming, and observed us flinching from the nose, she responded "I know I'm loud, but it's our anniversary." When we explaind that we couldn't hear each other across the table, she wandered off and started screaming some more, as she continued to do throughout our visit. Our waitress completely forgot us, and we had to get another wait person to take our order. When the food finally made it to the table, she neglected to bring the condiments we requested, and tried to blame it on some unseen person. That was the most contact we had with her, as she completely neglected us. They were not busy when we arrived, so I'm not clear what the problem was. The food was average, not bad, not good, but not worth the nonsense we had to put up with. The clincher was when the owner grabbed a microphone as we were leaving, and told the crowd to "shut up" so she could scream with amplification. We ran out the door before our eardrums exploded. I had a ridiculous experience there with a friend, which I will try to give the concise version of: Server comes to take our order. My friend says "Chicken sandwich. Actually, never mind, I want a tuna melt". I know this is what she said, because afterwards we discussed her desire for a tuna melt. Server comes to our table to give us our food. She brought a chicken sandwich. My friend acknowledges that she had changed her mind which may have been confusing, but that she had actually ordered a tuna melt. The server looked her, straight in the eye, and said "No you didn't. You ordered a chicken sandwich". My friend makes a sheepish attempt at saying that she may have been confusing, but she had ordered a tuna melt. The server ARGUED WITH HER extensively about this, to the point of being angry and blatantly rude. The problem with this situation is not whether my friend ordered a chicken sandwich or a tuna melt. The problem was that no matter what had happened, the server should have said "let me get you a tuna melt!" and done that. It was a slow afternoon and I'm pretty sure all their food is pre-made, mass-produced food anyway, so it wouldn't have taken long. The whole experience was actually quite embarrassing, to the extent that people from other tables were coming up to us asking if "that really just happened". We avoided eye contact with the server for the rest of the visit. That stands as the rudest a server has ever been to me. And even if the server had been polite, the food tasted like cardboard. read more

Welcome to Slaggers. We all know that song lyric from The Beatles' infamous song, "You Know My Name; Look up the Number." Well, this just may be Slaggers. Did The Beatles eat here after their Red Rocks set? We'll never know. Now, on to discussing the restaurant proper. First, if you are handicapped, there is no bathroom here for you. The bathrooms are up a step and, even if you manage to climb it with your wheelchair, you'll never turn it around in the hallway to enter the bathroom itself. Upon entering the restaurant, I was kind of happy. They have lunch specials. I saw what I wanted: a plate with beef and bean burrito in green chile and two beef tacos, and all for $7.00. How could I go wrong! The restaurant is kinda' neat. Very rustic. I had a stuffed bobcat named Lauren staring at me while I ate. She'd better be careful I don't eat her next. I sat in the bar area, which is only distinguishable from the rest of the place by a few small walls. There are stuffed animals everywhere, so if taxidermy bothers you, this is not a place for you. Above the bar we have the required wide-screen TV. Sadly, they do not have an HD signal. It's stretch-o-vision, friends. So if you want to watch the game in HD on Sunday, this isn't the place. Sometimes they call them waiters because they make you wait. This guy made me wait a good 15 minutes before taking my order. Fortunately, the bartender got me a drink long before that. It let me inspect the menu in general. Not a bad spread. Lots of variety, from appetizers to full-blown steak dinners, and apparently they have a breakfast menu for the weekends. I was disappointed not to see buffalo burgers or steaks, though. It would seem a natural with old Mr. T (stuffed buff head) staring out from the wall at a world long since lost to his mortal consciousness. I saw something unique. A wine and spirits vendor walked in off the street and started talking to the bartender. The bartender sampled various wines while I watched, and I thought, I may be in for a surprise. This place seems to care about the wine list. As a result, the food must be really good. Too bad it wasn't. The burrito. Imagine taking one-eighth of a pound of ground beef and adding a store-bought taco seasoning mix to it. Cook that up, throw it into a white flour tortilla with a slathering of Old El Paso beans. Plop that down on a plate containing a thin layer of "green chile," that tasted like something Campbell's soupish. The tacos. Egad! Shreaded, tasteless, Sahara Desert-dry beef on a pre-made corn tortilla shell (as in the kind you buy at the grocery store). The only other thing on the plate was some chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a little bit of okay salsa (no spiciness whatsoever). The only thing with spice was the Cholulah sauce provided by my waiter. Folks, do I have to say it? Move along down the street. There are many better restaurants along Bear Creek Ave. read more

My wife and I stopped in here for dinner prior to a Celtic Woman concert at Red Rocks. We were looking for a local place with a varied menu, and chose the Red Rocks Grill. While a couple things could have been better, we were completely satisfied with our dinners. My wife ordered a cup of tortilla chicken soup to start, which was tasty but not very hot. It could have stood a 30 second trip to the microwave. My chile rellanos (served with beans and chopped lettuce/tomato were delicious. Sharp cheddar stuffed inside poblano peppers. Spicy, flavorful and served hot. My wife ordered the street tacos that were a bit too greasy for her taste but delicious nonetheless. The decor is what I would call "Rocky Mountain Funky Cafe" with stuffed animal heads on the walls and an old diner feel. Bottom line is this; the beer was ice cold, the margarita nice and strong and the food was tasty. All at reasonable prices. We'll be back! read more

5 of us stopped her for lunch. I had heard that they had good Mexican food, so I went and ordered the Chicken Burrito extra spicy as I often do. I also ordered a giant Coors light. Which for $3 adds a star on it's own....I'm a big fan of large beers, then you don't have to get it refilled. My burrito came and appeared to be appetizing, but on first taste I found that "extra spicy" means to pour a bottle of tobasco on the burrito. That aside the burrito was average at best....but the fact remains any place that whose mexican spicy = tabasco is a big fail. The rest of the group said their food was avegage at best....I will say the Monte Cristo at the table next to us looked good though. So 1 star for the food, 1 star for the beer. read more

All bars and grills were packed yesterday because of Red Bull's Soapbox race and there are plenty of places to eat on that street and we happened to pick this one because it was the busiest and seemed like everyone was having a good time. Place is filled with hunting animals, lots of them everywhere; Bear, mountain lion, buffalo, probably animals from around that area. Cool and weird at the same time. Service overall was fast and very friendly. Menu didn't have anything unusual popping out from the menu, but I did tried their Montecristo double decker of ham, swiss cheese, deep fried. It was pretty good, it was packed with ham and cheese, the bread used was good, and the batter was not that thick, pretty crispy and goes very well with the raspberry jam dipping. Montecristo.... Read your menu carefully before ordering. First of all parties of 5 or more will be automatically charged 20% gratuity on their ticket. Split up bills will do you no good either. The 20% will be divided between your tickets. Want to share a plate....no problem after you pay the $2 fee. Yep a fee to eat off someone else's plate. We have 4 children then plus us two parents = 6 = automatic 20% gratuity charge. HOWEVER i'm not sure if it is your right too, but we asked this to be removed from our ticket and it was. I can understand large parties being automatically charged for gratuity but a family with small children....ridiculous! The waitress was mildly unpleasant after we asked and never refilled our drinks. 20% gratuity for taking our order and bringing our food? I think not! We will not return. read more

Went to Red Rocks Grill on our way to see a concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. This place was a nice surprise as it was very close to the venue and had good food. The staff was very friendly and welcoming which was nice. The drinks were good, and if you love beer then you will enjoy this spot. I ordered a tall draft and it came out in a medieval sized stein. We ordered the Monte cristo and their Mexican plate special. The Mexican plate was good, but I have had better. On the other hand, the Monte cristo was awesome and flavorful. The food was hot and fresh and served very quickly. Red Rocks Grill was definitely enjoyable due to it's friendly staff, good food and drinks, and the location near the amphitheater. For what this place aims to be, it hits the mark perfectly. Greatly exceeded expectations...I think there are a few pissy missy's with 1-star reviews bringing the rating down. Visiting from SF with the french bf and wanted to give him a western experience...this was perfect. Atmosphere: Decor includes lots of mounted fellow dining partners...but not tooooo many. Cozy, warm wood interior. Nice big windows. Clean bathroom. Service: Excellent. It looked like there was one guy working the whole front of the restaurant, 2 dining rooms, and bar. SUPER FRIENDLY and helpful...present, but not annoying. Food: Good beers for great prices. BF's burger with bacon looked gorgeous and one bite made me wish I'd ordered it. Surprising how hard it can be to find a simple burger that good. Fries-- maybe the top 5 I've ever had. Asked for extra-crispy, and they were diiivvvinnneee. I had the beef nachos...super yummy and just what I wanted. Chips might have been a teensy bit stale? But all the yumminess on top quickly made me forget that. I visited Red Rocks Grill for the first time over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but based on this experience, I'll definitely go back. I wandered in thinking I was going to have a salad, or some soup, and then the grilled ham and cheese caught my eye. After discussing our intentions with my partner in crime, he indicated he was going to get Mexican. I decided maybe I wanted Mexican. Really I was just being indecisive. Somehow I made the decision to get the Mexican dish he wanted and he got a Monte Cristo of all things. Mine was awesome - the green chili is tasty and spiced just right and the tortilla chips with the refried beans on the side really hit the spot. The Monte Cristo was just OK - they're never my favorite, and I wouldn't have ordered it. But like I said, I was being indecisive and we decided to share. I don't know what happened to this place. We used to come here all the time and it was great. We stopped in again couple weekends ago and everything had changed for the worst. The food that we've had there before like the Monte Cristo was over cooked and barren not like it use to be which was amazing. The chicken tasted horrible. They had great cilantro salsa that we would crave and now it tastes like dollar store salsa. This is a nice lunch spot in Morrison! We were seated very quickly..initially near a big family with a really annoying baby. Without us asking a little bit later our server asked us if we would like to move to another table so we dont have to hear the baby. YES PLEASE. So awesome we didnt even have to ask them. The great service continued from there. Drinks refilled quickly. Food came out quick. Very attentive. I got a smothered burrito. It was massive and came with a bunch of rice/beans too. I was here last night to see a play in which a friend is appearing this weekend at the Morrison Courthouse/Theatre. Ducking into this restaurant from the light snow, into a warm wood-paneled decor and down-to-earth wait staff, I knew I'd made a good choice for a pre-play dinner. Megan was my server, and while chatting about the specials, I told her the purpose of my visit to Morrison and we found that we were also practically Littleton neighbors! I encouraged her to tell her friends about the play and to attend if she could. For dinner, I decided to have the pork chop special, paired with an 1800 margarita. So moist and filling, I decided to defer dessert for another visit. I'll have to bring my son and daughter-in-law here sometime, especially if we can make it to a Red Rocks Ampitheatre concert. read more

Slow, slow, slow. Had to wait a long time for a waiter, then wait for brunch menus, (they gave us the regular menu). We asked for a drink menu and then the waiter never came back until we got our food. It took forever to get our food, then my eggs Benedict one egg was cooked correctly, runny yolk, the other yolk was hard throughout. They never came back to check on us, never got drink refills. This was my husbands birthday brunch and we were pretty disappointed in the lack of service. Then I'm not kidding we waited 1/2 hour for someone to take our dirty plates and get our check. There are limited options for brunch in Morrison but I know where I won't be coming next time. Snooze Who? This place has the best breakfast around this area. Snooze included. I REALLY like snooze but I LOVE this place. Every time someone visits us out here, we take them to this place. I feel like Ron Swanson waiting for my food after I order. We were going to go to the Blue Bear across the street but there wasn't a place to sit. So we tried this place out and lost our marbles!! The Skillets are stupid good!! Meat Lover is my jam but do what you like, it's all GREAT. They have Mimosa's which contain a full bottle of Champagne PER Mimosa! I'll reiterate, they take a full bottle of champagne and pour it in a mug and top it with orange juice. WHO DOES THAT! Thank Jermaine Dupree THEY do. Went here on a Thur at 11 AM, no one even there so think maybe a quick meal, THINK NOT. Ordered carnitas tacos and a monte cristo sammich. Honestly took 35 minutes to get the food. No refills on drinks without begging to find the waitress. She did stop once to say the food was coming but still took 15 minutes after that!!! Maybe the monte cristo was from France??? After a long day at Bandimere, I was starving for some great Mexican food. Typically, we would go to Morrison Inn, but we had heard lately that they have gone down hill. So, we walked over to Red Rocks Grill. They are always consistently good and have great service. This occasion was no different. The waitress was on everything. She was funny and helpful all at the same time. I got 4 crunchy beef tacos and Brian got one of the combos because he was being indecisive. Great tacos! Went to Morrison to go to the Morrison Cafe for Mexican food. We decided to give our money to a smaller mom pop establishment. BAD CHOICE!!! The chili rellenos are filled with cheddar cheese. The "spicy chili" is canned, diced green chilis, not even cooked. My Mtn. Dew was a bit of greenish color in the bottom of the glass and no flavor. For the hundreds of times I've been here, I am truly shocked I've not written a review. Time to change that, as the friends from out of town that I lunched with yesterday, were literally worshiping my plate. (Needless to say, I've mastered the menu.) Let me start by saying, if I were relying solely on Yelp to decide whether or not to try this place, I would be truly concerned about the range of ratings and comments. Specifically, I was there yesterday (giving a solid 4 rating if it was my ONLY time there) and there is at least one other rating from the same day that is a 1 - with nothing but negative feedback. (I almost feel like I need to apologize to the other yelper because my experience was so positive!) This place is a little-gem-hole-in-the-wall-watering-hole-lodgy-feeling-mountain-town-"beer-and-grub-hut." I'll write this review according to time of day, just for something a little different! Breakfast - get here, fast, and early; hungry and parched. The portions are massive, well worth the price, HOT, HOT, HOT, fast (in fact, almost too fast if you want to get through some of your mimosa or Bloody Mary beforehand). There is not one thing on the breakfast menu that isn't outstanding. Paralyzing outstanding - and if you can make a happy plate, high-five yourself and roll on home. Get something with the gravy. It's just nasty good - so good, it should probably have defribulator paddles as a "not heart healthy" icon on the menu. Go big or go home - breakfast IS the most important meal of the day. On weekends during mid-morning, you are likely going to have to wait. My advice, wait it out. It's worth it. The large drinks are served in a bucket. If you can lift it with one hand, skip the work out. If you drink it to the bottom, skip the work out - you'll injure yourself. Lunch - I don't care if you are in rabbit mode and order a salad, or in the mood for Mexican, or craving a burger - or (my absolute forever and consistent go to item) wanting to indulge in a Monte Cristo - lunch is great. (Same as the dinner menu, so watch for more on that next.) Again, portions are BIG. Even when I show hungry, I leave with a box. If you have checked out my other reviews, you know I am a burger junky. This is not my favorite burger, but it is good. A little on the drier side, but a wide range of toppings are available. The green chili is really good - flavorful with just the right amount of heat. Sweet potato fries are outstanding, and yesterday, I had the soup (potato-cheese) for my side, and wanted to dive into the bowl. Most importantly, (wait for it...), it was served HOT, with crackers, AND a soup spoon. Woo hoo!!! One other comment, Diet Pepsi (ick) not Diet Coke. The iced tea is always good, and they always have the Co2 set well on their soda-taps. (I hate soda that isn't bubbly - crazy, I know.) Dinner - Whether early or late, see lunch (and breakfast) regarding portions, and quality. The menu seriously has something for every craving. If you can't decide, try the fajitas. Big enough for two, and you'll still take something home. Served sizzling hot, and always ample "stuff" besides or in addition to the delicious meat. Everything else is good - but if you're looking for a standout, fajitas are it. It's busy on concert nights, and warmer weekends. It's an awesome "snowy hideaway" too - Beer, beer, beer, beer and then beer, Good selection, cold, ample, reasonably priced. What more do you want? Decor - lodgy, with entertaining animal heads and appropriate holiday decorations. The place is always clean - not sterile, and clean. The bathrooms suck. Just suck. (Well, the ladies room...) No need to sugar coat it, or try to disguise it. Drink enough beer - and it doesn't matter. If you aren't drinking beer, that's okay, just don't expect the Brown Palace. You are going to freeze your cheeks in the cooler seasons on the toilet, and it's small, with curtain-wanna-be type "doors" to the two stalls. Who cares? It beats baring your butt in the woods, and nice bathrooms would be super out of place! Flushing toilets, running water to wash your hands, paper towel, a wastebasket. Boom - bathrooms. There have been a few times we have had marginal service, but most often, it is incredibly attentive and customer service oriented. We will regularly sit at the bar if possible, and all of the frequent "locals" are very friendly, and don't make newcomers feel like outsiders. We have sat in the way back too, and find it equally welcoming for entirely different reasons. I live in and love Morrison, and regularly make this a go to place for just us, or when we have friends or family in town. Give it a shot!! read more

After a long hike in evergreen it was our priority to find a cold beer and hot food!!! I love the dog friendly atmosphere as our dog was welcomed with open arms. She was loved so much they even brought her out some ham to munch on. Variety of beer on tap was fairly priced and great set of choices. The food was a great variety of American and Mexican. My bf and I both got the grilled chicken sandwich where you can add what you want. He kept it simple with just Swiss as mine had grilled onions and bacon. The sweet potato fries were cooked to perfection. Normal fries were a little bland and needed some seasoning. The only reason why I did not give them a five was due to the service. Our waitress was not very tentative to us as we had to ask her for the bill. Nor did she ask if we wanted anything else to drink or even waters. read more

Came here after a hike really craving some nachos. Not a fan. The nachos were honestly pretty disappointing and gross. The ground beef was dry and tasted like Taco Bell. There was way too much beef on the chips with minimal cheese, small tomatoes and one scoop of sour cream. The beans were smeared and dried under it all on the plate so they didn't have much presence, until you reach the point of "finishing" (if you get that far). If you are craving a plate of dry beef with some chips this is the meal for you. Wouldn't recommend and probably wouldn't go back just based off that dish. read more

It's a nice place to eat prior to a concert or after a hike, but I wouldn't go out of my way to travel there for a meal.
