TAP ON THE ROCKS is AMAZING! - The garlic knots are the best I've ever had - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Margherita pizza is wonderful as well. Their well-whiskey is Fireside, which is FAR better than any well and should never be placed in a lower category with Evan or even Jim. (Fireside is a great local whiskey.) Our bartender/waiter, Mia was wonderful. When I asked her if they had a happy hour, Mia said, "No, but I'm happy every hour." And her smile said she was! An employee sat down near me, and we started talking - turns out he's the owner (but I didn't get his name). He was extremely personable and friendly. He shared his philosophy about business in Morrison. He's not about competition in the small town. He just wants more people to experience what Morrison has to offer. I saw him pouring drinks, serving, cooking, and making customers feel welcome. This is my new go-to place for every Red Rocks concert and Morrison visit! Don't go anywhere else. Stopped by Tap on the Rocks and ordered the Mt. Vernon Pizza, which was very good. The atmosphere is laid back and makes for a relaxing place to grab a meal. My only complaint was the service regarding a couple of simple requests--we asked twice for drink refills and Parmesan cheese for the pizza, but never received either. One helpful tip: parking is free in the creek-side lot, so pay attention to the signs when you pull in. Overall, a good experience with a few service issues that could be improved. read more

The location next door had a long wait time so we were hungry and decided to stop by Nextdoor because there was a sign that said breakfast and because we wanted to sit inside, there was no wait times. Service was friendly and quick. The breakfast menu was decent with your typical choices. I had the blueberry pancake and I was surprised they used real blueberries and actually mixed it in with the batter. After a fun hike at Red Rocks Park we decided to stop in the small, quaint town of Morrison, Colorado, which boast a population of 400. There are many restaurants on the main street, catering to thirsty and hungry hikers. We came upon Tap On The Rocks restaurant which offered nice outside seating. We were greeted promptly and told to select any table on their deck, which is covered by a lattice roof. It's a nice, shaded deck. Water was quickly served, and after about 5 minutes our waitress came by the table and we ordered: * Cobb Salad $17.00: Grilled chicken, bacon, cucumber, tomato, olives, onion, egg, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, fresh mixed greens * House Salad $9.00 Spring Mix, Grape Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Fresh Mozarella * (2) Patty Melt $16.00 Pork & Beef Patty, Caramelized Onions, Swiss Cheese on Rye. I hate giving out 1-star reviews but Tap On The Rocks surely earned it. All four of us thought this was the worst lunch we've had in years (likely in the top 5 most terrible meals I've ever had). The Patty Melt was dry, seriously overcooked, had almost no cheese and the onions were raw red onions. Two of these melts were ordered, and they were both terrible, much of the sandwich left on their respective plates. My Cobb Salad was 95% lettuce, had a few tiny pieces of cucumber, a few strands of cheese, and two tiny bits of bacon. The chicken was some type of pressed, processed chicken, it tasted odd, was it chicken? I'm not sure if they ran out of ingredients, had an incompetent chef, or some combination of both. We were walking down the street walked into tap on the rocks and decided quickly to sit down and have a dinner. We were passing through town and looking for a quick bite for dinner. What we found was something very exciting and special. The food came out quickly. Our service was exceptional with Orlando and later doing our meal. We met the owner and he explained much about the challenges of running a small business in this town, and we resonated quite a bit with what the challenges were and his creative solutions to making his business work. We complemented him on the food and the service. Then I learned out of excitement that his pizzas were being made in a wood oven. One of my exciting connections with pizza having them made in a wood oven. The oven wasn't truly visible from the entrance, so I was quite surprised. We went back to see the oven and truly it was a magnificent oven that could make many pizzas. Then we talked about the pizza making skills and all the specialness of the cheese the flour, the water, and of course, all the ingredients they get put on top of the pizza, but the raw foundation of the pizza was clear that this team knew exactly how to make first class pizza from scratch the dough, etc. We had ordered a pizza and was exceptional coming from this wood oven. Great food and a nice AC break from the hot weather. We stayed at Cliff House Lodge on the next block and wanted to eat before a concert at Red Rocks. A hole in the wall suited best for a lousy drink and low quality food. The hand prints and smudges on the booths, chairs, and napkin dispensers let us know the place hasn't been cleaned in months. It was gross and set the tone for our experience. The bathrooms are reminiscent of a NYC subway water closet. We had wings which claim to be tossed in sauce were more like drenched in it. The over priced pizza took 35 minutes and it wasn't even busy at lunch hour on a Saturday. It was soggy and undercooked. The garlic knots should just be called garlic fried dough. Yep they were deep fried = disgusting. This place has so much potential but it seems management is determined to keep it a sub par watering hole with zero ambition for improvement. We enjoyed so many things about Tap on the Rocks. We hadn't been here before and live really close by, so that's a huge plus. As usual, we sat at the bar and finally decided to stay after a bit of a drink order snafu. First, the good stuff: our waiter was awesome and he was as accommodating and explanatory as he could be. Thank you. The pizza (the Green Mountain with added basil) and fire roasted cauliflower bites that we ordered, was pretty delish. For some opportunities for improvement, at least from a customer's point of view: tidy up the area behind the bar. Move the trash bins to less conspicuous places or maybe even out of site like under or near the bar. Aesthetically, the bar backdrop where the oven fired pizzas are made could be tidied up. It is very easy to see into the kitchen and the myriad of condiment boxes and clutter. Maybe it was just us, but both my partner and I were put off with the clutter of the visible boxes, deliveries, condiments, trash cans, and packaging that could be moved elsewhere to improve the ambiance behind the bar, much less the clutter that we could see through the open spaces into the kitchen. Second: we attempted to order at least 4 drinks (2 each) and were told after each one that they weren't available for various reasons. Quick tip: grab a grease pen and mark these selections out on the menu so that folks are aware from the get go and not set up for disappointment. We almost left after feeling disappointment after disappointment with just the drink orders. The pizza and cauliflower bites did redeem the place and we'll likely be back. I'm not sure we'll sit at the bar, unless things have changed - maybe as it gets warmer, we can sit outside and enjoy the views - and update the rating. read more

Only one side of the parking lot is free parking for the restaurant and those spots are likely filled with the employees vehicles.The spots along the street are apparently paid parking for the city and not properly marked as pictured below These are the most visible signs when entering the lot. The painted wording on the paid spots are very faded and not visible if cars are already parked there The food and service was ok. Would have given more stars if not for the parking issue. The restaurant could warn their patrons about this or a notice on the tables prior to sitting down. read more

This place is located down the road from us a quaint downtown Morrison. It used to be called TNT Kitchen and we have visited several times. Once the new owners took over the place actually improved in many ways, interior decor, staff and quality of food. One thing remained, high value breakfast menu. On this occasion I ordered the Breakfast Tacos with chorizo and house potatoes selection. The tacos were very delicious. Most items on the menu are very traditional without attempt to be different. The service was above average with attention and pleasing attitude. Nice place for breakfast, especially when visiting Morrison. We will continue to dine here when COVID regulations allow. read more

It doesn't get much worse than refusing service. A group of us went on a 5+ mile hike and we were all both hungry and thirsty. We had 10-12 people and know we are just showing up someplace but everyone had a patient mentality so not pushy or anything. Our group leader chose Tap on the Rocks and looked like a decent place for us with an outside patio, drinks, and the pizzas going by looked pretty good. There were multiple seats open on the patio, so it's not like they were jammed-packed at all. After we sat there for 20+ minutes without any type of staff greeting or acknowledgment of any kind, I went up to the bar to get a beer. I was freaking thirsty after that hike. Coming back with my drink some others in my group looked longingly asking how did I get a beer because clearly still they were not being helped. Then, our organizer said the blonde server came over and told him that our group would not get our ORDERS taken for 45 minutes. Not even, the food is behind, like they won't even speak to us to take down an order or bring any drinks -- basically saying "get out". I mean, wow. Can it get any worse? I don't know why she didn't want to make tips doing her job serving us. Because having people to wait is how you make tips. I guess she's making enough money hourly that she can refuse service? The workers I saw there, including her, as she did get my beer, weren't moving too fast or looking slammed, "in the weeds" as some industry people say. She just mozied along... doopty-doo... from what I could see. When she got my beer she also gave me back the wrong change. Was she also trying to scam extra $ from me? Whoever owns this place, you have real issues with your staff and if your sales have mysteriously declined, well mystery no more when your staff refuses to do their job. And if that hasn't happened, you ought to be ashamed of this experience and wonder how often it occurs. If this were my establishment once would be too much. This occurred around 3pm-ish on 7/24/22. We went across the street to The Morrison Inn and were treated well, like humans, like customers and the server kicked butt. I made sure to give him an extra good tip. He was running around unlike the slow pokes at Tap on the Rocks and he deserved it. read more

My husband and I stopped here on a Saturday morning prior to heading up to Red Rocks. We had a very pleasant experience! We tried to go to the super popular place next door, but the wait was too long, so we walked here instead. There was no wait at all! The staff was very nice and there was a pretty extensive menu to choose from. I ordered the breakfast tacos with black beans (comes with 3 and a side) and my husband ordered the breakfast burrito with cottage cheese (again, as a side). We ordered our food to go, but there looked to be a lovely outside area. The food was delicious (my husband did say that his burrito was a little too salty, but he ate it all)! And enough that we could have shared. The staff was also super friendly. They momentarily misplaced our credit card while running it and I'm pretty sure that the whole staff chipped in to find it (which they did). I would definitely come back here again. read more

Scammers. Always keep your receipt. I always tip to a round dollar amount like $33.00. After my takeout order this past weekend I noticed they charged an additional .96 on my bill. Then I checked my credit card and saw they have been charging an additional .96 or .98 to me for over a year. See photo for dates and charges. This is so infuriating as I tip 20% or more for my take out orders. I would understand if this happened once due to misreading a hand written ".00" but this has happened EVERY time. We decided to come to tap on the rocks after initally trying to order wings at our favorite spot Willys on a saturday afternoon. There was a 60 min wait for Willys. We were hungry and wanted to eat right away. We decided on tap on the rocks, pretty dead for a saturday afternoon. Wait staff was really friendly and consistent. We ordered wings, sweet potato fries and the garlic knots. Wings were ok, I believe my daughter got the garlic parmesean and my mom and I got the regular hot. The fries were amazing. The garlic knots tasted not cooked and they charge extra for marinara. The garlic parmesean were overpowered by garlic. As we received our bill the waiter said our bill would be cut in half as they had a special going on. As were leaving my daughter went into the bathroom and came out disgusted. She said she saw a critter(cockroach) in the womens bathroom. If they are in the bathroom, they are sure to be in the kitchen. We will not be returning to Tap on the Rocks, and we will stick to Willys wings. read more
