Website (media information) is outdated... menu prices are higher and there is NOT any weekly happy hours. We are here on a Friday at 5:30 and only one other party here. Food was warm, room was cold, no waiting for a table. Good news is there is free parkinking in the back. read more

Do not come here if you have kids. Went to go with our newborn, 2 and 4 year old. They had outdoor dining closed- understandable even though it's a beautiful day. They didn't care if someone went to take a picture but when my husband went to go out to let the kids do red light green light while waiting for food the woman was so rude and nasty even about the kids touching their "very expensive and coded door handles). Red Rocks Grill has the feel of a small town local spot . Decor is "cabin/lodge". The staff was friendly. The French dip and pulled pork sandwich were very flavorful but the French fries were under seasoned/lacking salt. There could also have been more meat on all the sandwiches. read more

I love visiting Morrison and dropping by all the local restaurants. During my last visit, I decided to give Red Rocks Grill another try. Unfortunately, this (like past) visits was lackluster at best. Besides the food being mediocre, the service was poor. The staff was more interested in talking about another team member (very loudly) -- which made it difficult to flag them down to order, get new drink orders, extra condiments or even pay. read more

This place was kind of weird. I traveled with some friends to Red Rocks and, after walking around in the sun, we tried to get into a different restaurant in town. There was a long wait and we were very hungry so we walked down the street and found this place. My first impression was a very expired bottle of hand sanitizer by the door. (Does hand sanitizer go bad? I'm not sure, and I often ignore expiration dates at home, but I feel conflicted about restaurants that overlook expiration dates all the same.) Maybe it was refilled? I decided to overlook it. My second impression was the woman I later learned was the owner shouting across the dining room to patrons as they came in. "You! You'll have to wait! You, how many? She's wiping down a table for you now!" I'm from the northeast so I'm not sensitive, and I thought, ok, I can roll with this, it's like a Jersey diner, bring on the attitude, honey. We were seated right away but the table was still dirty around the edges (clearly someone had wiped the center, leaving all of the crumbs at the edges.) I needed to use the restroom, so after reading the menu I let my friends know they could order the green chili for me if the server came while I was gone. When I came back, my friends reported that the server had come but when they ordered the green chili for me, the owner had spoken up to warn them that the green chili was very spicy - they imitated a kick she had done, I guess, I wasn't there to see it, that was meant to represent the "kick" the chili had - so they wanted to give me a chance to reconsider. That was kind, but I decided to go ahead with the green chili. Twice, once while we waited for our food, and again while we were eating, the owner came by to talk about her childhood and where she was from. It was the same story twice, so it was a little confusing. Also... one of my friends who was with me is Black, and the owner's story was basically about how she is also Black, not by appearance but, perhaps appearance isn't everything was her point I guess, and she was "raised in the hood" and she called my friend "mami" and she came back to tell us the same thing twice, and it just felt... awkward. I think she meant well (I think? I tend to give the benefit of the doubt.) and she didn't say anything particularly rude, it was just uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the chili was pretty bland. On a scale of mild salsa to medium to hot, I'd rate this around ketchup on the Scoville scale. I didn't order a glass of water (I didn't need one with the chili!) but I heard the owner telling a nearby table that the cloudy water was fine to drink (it probably just needed to sit a minute if it was straight out of the tap?) and then again telling the server that if anyone asked about the cloudy tap water, tell the customers it was fine to drink. I had traveled pretty far to meet up with my friends and I felt the meal was overshadowed by the owner's ramblings. That aside, the food was nothing to write home about. If we hadn't been hot, tired, and hungry, we probably should have kept walking. Next time. read more

Stopped here on our way to a concert at red rocks for some drinks and food. They have open seating, so we did not wait to be seated, and our waitress immediately came and gave us menus. She was wonderful with recommendations and answering our questions. I chose the snow-capped honey crisp cider, and it was honestly one of the best ciders I've had! It was sweet yet sour, went down smooth, and was strong. We shared the chips and salsa, it was pretty sweet tasting but good. We both ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich with the coleslaw on the side. It was disappointing, to say the least. The meat was burnt and way over cooked, where it was too hard to eat and lost all the moisture. It also did not taste good, and we both did not finish our sandwiches. The coleslaw was more like cut-up pickles. But the fries were actually good, crispy, and salty. We did appreciate how quickly everything came out, and our server never left us waiting long. They had some great beer and ciders on tap, but the food was not good. read more

I visited Morrison for the first time in ages while stuck due to the recent tanker fire that closed I70. I remembered this being a good place and, what a great choice! Still pretty empty early afternoon, and I sat at the bar next to a very friendly and outgoing (VERRRRY) lady who I learned was the owner of 40 years, Anna. Well that's an experience in itself, she is quite a great character in the most fun and best sense of the word. I watched her manage the many group reservations for post graduation events as they rolled in, she's just one of a kind, a true force of nature. Little known fact - free parking in back! My bartender/server was super sweet and friendly and I watched her go into gear as they got busy, a real pro. My $17 cheeseburger loaded with great cooked just right skinny fries was delicious, about an inch thick, great meat and cooked a perfect medium. Good selection of draft cold beers! Great food and drink, maybe the last of it's kind so, check it out. Highly recommend. read more

For those of you who might be interested in visiting Red Rocks Grill because you have always enjoyed it in the past...DON'T!!! I have no idea what has happened, but to say they have gone downhill is be way too generous. You can't even see the "hill" from where they are now. We tried them for brunch recently, as we have many times over the years, and literally everything about the experience was awful!!! The service was less than mediocre. The Bloody Mary mix was watered down and terrible! And the food did not even resemble the same food we have always ordered there. The portions were less, the quality was far less, and the flavors were non-existent. This pains me to write this, but you need to be aware. read more

After hiking up at Mt. Falcon Park, my friend and I headed back into town and stopped at Red Rocks Grill. My friend brought her dog along so we had to search for a place that was dog friendly and had a patio. I went in and asked if we could sit on the patio, but unfortunately it was closed. However, she said that we could bring the dog inside under one condition that no one pet her. Okay, cool! A little weird, but awesome nonetheless. They even brought out a bowl of water for her. So sweet. This encounter speaks volumes about their customer service. I loved the vibe here. The staff were super friendly, yet laid back. They definitely want you to have a good time and come back. The menu is filled with classics and even mexican dishes, which I am a fan of. I got the carnitas street tacos and a side of french fries that I probably shouldn't have ordered. I didn't think that the tacos were going to be filling enough for me, but they were filled to the hilt and incredibly flavorful. The only thing I would recommend is that they double wrap the tacos as they were falling apart from all the filling. My friend got the big kahuna, which she liked as well. Also, want to comment on the décor. I saw that underneath one of the taxidermy animals there was a wooden plaque where she was named Lauren and so on throughout the establishment. We laughed and thought this was a fun take on styling a restaurant. They also decorated a bit for Halloween! Love this place! The staff was very welcoming and even let us order lunch items a little before they officially started lunch. (On the weekends they serve breakfast until 11:30). My son loved the giant pancake. I got a grilled chicken sandwich which was great and came with seasoned fries. I am picky about my fries but theirs were the perfect amount of crispy. My friend got the cheeseburger, which I tried a bite of and it was absolutely delicious! Actually grilled, not just on a flat top so it had that smoky grill flavor. We came here because they were the first ones to pop up under "BBQ" and we were disappointed that all they had was the "pulled pork sandwich" as BBQ options. This was a great experience for our group of 8. It was one of the only places I could find that would take reservations. They have a great parking lot behind the restaurant with plenty of spaces. We came in and seated ourselves, and waited quite a while, but no server came. after a moment I noticed your server in the back, talking on a cell phone. Several more minutes passed, during which I made eye contact with her a few times and smiled, another couple came and sat, and the booth next to us continued to wait for service as well. She did not offer help, or enlist any other employee to serve any of the three tables. We left and went across the street to Tap on the Rocks, where we were served immediately. We went to Red Rocks Grill around 5pm on a Wednesday. Folks seated at the bar (possible locals) actually greeted us and told us to pick any seat we wanted. Immediately a server came with a menu and took our drink order. We later realized this server was also the bartender, order taker, food delivery and cash out gal! She was running around the place to keep all customers happy. She did a great job keeping up with customers. My French dip sandwich was outstanding and my husbands tacos were just ok in flavor. The main problem was no air conditioning on a 98 degree day. The place is small with little ventilation. So before posting I read a few dozen reviews to get my bearing on what I might say, here goes. On a rather slow Sunday afternoon the server was very slow an inattentive to say the least. From the start this was the case and it continued all the way through my visit. I am guessing that others think seeing her bare middle is appealing, not so much for me. When I ordered a basket of chips and a bowl of green chili to start with it took quite a while to show up and when it did there was a trio of dips included; salsa, queso and guacamole, not ordered. This was also an 'upcharge' of $3 per sauce included on the bill. $6 chips turned into $15 on the bill; NOT KOOL!!! Chili came with meal and that just crowded the table and was barely warm so not eaten. Slow on drink refill . . oh, might have been nice if she had checked back a time or two. Before the food the 'owner' was by to chat. interesting conversation. I suspect the normal cliental. I won't be specific but I might 'guess' they come in off their two wheeled steel horses and just MIGHT be a little more dorse than I am; don't get me wrong, I might look the part but I have good manners and a fair bit of intelligence. Anyway, instead of asking how things were going she just chatted away about herself and blah, blah, blah. How about get our food to the table or offer me a refill on my iced tea; thanks. So, all in all I feel comfortable with giving a ONE Star review based on my experience. I can promise I would never be embarrassed to bring a guest here because there is NO danger of me going back. No stars. My mom used to reside in nursing home there in Morrison. Me and my dad went in here one morning and we were greeted with someone just handing us a menu, no niceties at all. I am giving this place a 5! I see that the reviews are all over the place. If you get a 34 ounce coors and the tamales I can't imagine that everyone would not give this place a 5. Our waitress was super nice and eve thought we split an entree and a beer(34 oz) we got great service. WE were on our way to Red Rock ampitheatre and desperately wanted tamales. They used to make the perfect Monte Christo, last time we go there....soggy, scantly powdered sugar, gristle in half the bite of a poorly carved ham, and no fresh raspberry or blackberry jams. Instead it came with very old tasting strawberry jam. The fries were cold and soggy. My order was Take-out with only about 15 minutes from RRG. I ate a couple bites of two squares and a fry before throwing the whole thing away, which I have never done before. I'm sad. It used to be a once a year treat. Small town grub. The place has taxidermy all over the walls with a ton of different wild animals ! Been here a few times and the food is quick and family style. I've had their BLT, which is pretty normal. (sorry no photo) and my favorite dish is the Dino burger. The peanut butter is minimal so if you're nervous about it don't be. I was hesitant on the jam part too of being too sweet or just in general odd... It really works ! Take the burger as is and grab yourself some napkins .
