Today was a special day! We surprised my best friend's husband who is going to be 80 years old this month in Asheville NC! So we wanted to go somewhere special for dinner and Covid safe. So the Red Rocker Inn gave us our own little room to dine in! The house was built in 1897 and is very quaint. There are red rockers on the lovely porch. The staff all wore masks and were very friendly . Our waiter John made sure that the food that my friend ordered was gluten and sugar free. She had the navy bean soup and trout broiled high and dry. We had the homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Our other friend had the homemade pot roast, red potatoes and green beans. Everything was delish including a delicious warmed biscuit, that was served with butter and apple butter. It was a beautiful day completed by this wonderful dinner with our dearest friends!

What a beautiful little B&B 15 minutes from Asheville, NC. So quaint and comfy. The room we stayed in (Garrett) was cute on the 3 floor, had a claw tub and fireplace. But next time I'm staying on the ground level because of my knees and all the stairs. I've gotta walk plenty more stairs tomorrow at the Biltmore. Anyway, very cute and glad we have the opportunity to stay for a few days to relax and enjoy ringing in the New Year!!!

It had been a few years since we had been here but it did not disappoint. Seated at our reservation time. Service was great as always. The food was outstanding!

We had breakfast for 8. The food was delicious with homemade biscuits and apple butter served while we waited on our main courses. Mike and Katy Cys are the new owners and have recreated the made a warm and cozy atmosphere that we remember while serving a delicious breakfast! We had an enjoyable visit with them. The entire experience was one we will remember and probably plan a return trip in the future. Thankful they brought The Red Rocker Inn back to life!

Crepe and biscuit and gravy. Very delicious!!

Amazing food and awesome service!! Great prices! Wonderful atmosphere! We will be back! We plan to stay at the inn next time!

So I live in Raleigh and watch this show called NC Weekend on the public television network there (btw great show to watch if you need any inspiration for North Carolina day/weekend trips!). A few years ago they featured Red Rocker Inn so I jotted it down for a future stop. Fast forward to this weekend when I decided to go to Asheville. I randomly thought about Red Rocker Inn and decided to stop by for dinner on my way home to Raleigh. One of the best decisions I made that weekend. First of all, the B&B is gorgeous! I only saw the lobby and the restaurant but everything was perfectly arranged and decorated. It had such a homy feel to it so I can't imagine what the rooms are like. Secondly, the food was amazing. I got the apple butter pork chops with asparagus and grits. Probably the best pork chop I've ever had. I regret getting a side salad because I couldn't finish it all! The portions were huge. I got a slice of coconut cake to go and I'm currently devouring it at a truck stop in Mocksville. I will note that the service is on the slower side so don't come here if you're looking to get in and out quickly - but if you're looking for a fantastic meal in Black Mountain and aren't in a rush, check out Red Rocker Inn for dinner! (Funny story, there were 5 of us eating as I was getting ready to leave. The table in front of me was commenting on another persons dessert at another table. They overheard and went around and shared their pound cake and ice cream with all of us. So it was a fun crowd - most people were staying at the B&B. I think people are just ready to interact with people again post-COVID)

Best coconut cake you'll ever eat.

Old school (Sinatra on the speakers) lovely restaurant in a B&B with classic comfort foods: meat loaf, pot roast, local trout in a traditional inn setting with great service and coconut cake to die for.

We went for brunch and ate on the enclosed porch. One of our favorite brunch spots. Great food in a comfortable setting.

That's fine in normal cold weather, but at 22 degrees the overhead heaters just don't quite cut it. I think this part of the experience could use a little revision. My wife had pancakes with vanilla syrup and sausage. I ordered the classic breakfast with eggs, grits, sausage, and toast. Everything was very flavorful. My only complaint was that my food was lukewarm. It seemed like my food may have been finished and sat for a few minutes while my wife's pancakes were completed. On a cold morning, I would have preferred a hotter meal, the grits weren't warm enough to melt the butter, and the toast was cold, so I didn't even attempt to butter it. That said, even with the temperature issue, the food was still very tasty, and given how cold it was outside, I'm willing to let it slide. Everything arrived quickly, and the restaurant itself is very quaint, set in an old home that is very clean. On our first visit, they offered chocolate chip cookies to go, and they were excellent! They didn't have any this time, but we'll be back again to try our luck. To those about to nosh, I salute you!!

In my experience, if eggs "over easy" are cooked at too high a temp the whites become leathery. I know some people like that leathery white thing, but just not my preference. And no, the eggs being room temp didn't offset being cooked in too hot oil. The biscuit was doughy (maybe just undercooked) but I was able to eat around the edges of it and the edges were actually tasty. Sure would've liked to have had a whole biscuit tho! I know some people like to eat their biscuits at room temp, but just not my preference. I prefer them hot, I think they taste better. A hot biscuit also helps to melt the butter and at the risk of sounding like a prima donna the cold little bricks of butter I tried and failed to spread on it became a bit of a turnoff. The home fries seemed undercooked but I was able to eat a few. Nothing really special about them, just seemed like a potato chopped up and pushed around in grease. I did like the jam/jelly selection, nicely done. Some may wonder why I didn't complain or send this back. I had an appointment down the road and wouldn't have made that considering the initial order took 12 minutes from payment to plate landing on the table, so a re-do would've been??? no idea how long. Sometimes it's better to just tough it out. It wasn't busy, there was no line to order, about 6-8 patrons total in the restaurant. I was surprised at the wait, but part of that was my order getting crossed with someone else. The other guy who first got my plate shouted over to me that he didn't sneeze on my food, so that was nice.

They took time to engage in casual conversation and created an atmosphere that felt personal and welcoming. A particular highlight was the owner's involvement throughout the meal; visiting the table on several occasions to personally describe each dish, which proved invaluable given our limited familiarity with South African cuisine. Ambiance: The setting strikes an ideal balance between relaxed and charming. We dined al fresco alongside the garden and farm animals, lending the experience a distinctive, unhurried quality that felt refreshingly unpretentious. The environment is well-suited to those seeking a genuine farm-to-table atmosphere without affectation. Food: The quality of the cuisine was genuinely impressive. The lamb chops were a standout -- cooked to a precise medium to medium-rare and seasoned with a confident, well-balanced hand. The dishes reflected the skill and experience of a kitchen operating at a high level, with clear attention to both technique and ingredient quality. Overall: Bush Farmhouse delivered on every front. The combination of superior food, engaged and joyful staff, and a relaxed, authentic setting makes for a dining experience that is as memorable as it is satisfying. This is a restaurant clearly operating at its best, and one we would recommend without reservation to anyone seeking a distinctive and well-crafted culinary experience.
