The person next to me at the bar is apparently a regular and said, "Don't worry, they will cook you a new burger. That's just the kitchen manager having a bad day". They happened to be out of fresh avocados that morning, but rather than simply telling me the dish wasn't available, the chef got creative and used some puréed avocado they had for another dish. I appreciated the effort to make it work. Coffee was self-service and was good. Capella on 9 also has a rooftop terrace that looked like a lovely place to have a drink and enjoy the view. Even our trolley driver recommended going there for a drink. One thing to keep in mind is that the restaurant stops serving food before the bar closes. Our flight to Asheville was delayed almost five hours, and I was trying to determine whether we would still be able to have dinner when we arrived. I tried calling the restaurant but could only leave a message, so I called the AC Hotel Asheville Downtown front desk instead. Although the posted hours showed Capella on 9 open until 11:00 p.m., the front desk told me the restaurant stopped serving food at 10:30 p.m. Since I used to work at a bar, I knew the kitchen could close earlier than the bar and was glad I had checked. In the end, we didn't reach the hotel until around 11:00 p.m. anyway. We had originally thought we might have dinner there during our stay because the tapas-style, small-plate menu sounded perfect for the way we like to eat. We never ended up having dinner, however, because there weren't quite enough dishes on the menu that appealed to us.
