This is one of those resort/country club places that has opened to the general public. It's a very pretty, mountain style facility in a beautiful location. The patio overlooks the golf course and gets a nice afternoon breeze. Service was good. Food was good overall. I'd give it a strong 4, but definitely not a 5. The pimento cheese burger with jalapenos was huge (must be half a pound of very high quality ground beef). So at $16, they aren't making a ton of profit on this meal. The side of sweet potato waffle fries was good but not great (a little too soft/not crispy enough). The blackened redfish sandwich was also good, but nothing stood out. There wasn't a lot of seasoning. The tartar sauce it was served with was okay, but it seemed like this sandwich needed a sauce with more zing (lemon garlic remoulade maybe?) to give the rather plain fish, with not a lot of seasoning, more flavor. The side of pimento mac-n-cheese was the high point of the meal. Using pimento cheese was a nice twist, and the top of the cheese covering the macaroni was nicely charred in places providing some crunch to contrast with the saucy cheese underneath. Limited beers on tap, but an interesting cocktail menu. It's definitely a great location with pretty good food, so a good place to eat in the countryside around Canton, NC. read more

Took the family visiting from Atlanta. We had reservations at 6:30 and were seated right away. We ordered drinks three old fashions and I ordered wine with a great selection of wines and then some appetizers. Buffalo dip with chiccaronnies. They also brought bread and butter to table. Salads came out next. Meals ordered: I had the special chicken Marsala with fettuccine: my niece had Tuscan chicken with fried smashed taters; one great niece had grilled cheese with fries ; another great niece had chicken tenders Mac and cheese and fries ; nephew had braised short ribs over mashed taters and Mac and cheese hubby had a burger with fried smashed tater. The food was good with a few exceptions the Mac and cheese didn't have any flavor and the braised short ribs were more like stew meat in gravy. We loved the atmosphere in the building and the place was great to talk with members of your party. We will definitely try this place again read more

This may be my favorite restaurant experience I've had and it was completely random passing it after a day of hiking with my dog. It is definitely off the beaten path but well worth the drive in my opinion. The views are absolutely breathtaking from the back patio and there are heaters if it's a little chillier. The inside is extremely well done and looks brand new. Servers were kind and attentive. The food was AMAZING. It was a tough choice between the crab fettuccine Alfredo and lobster ravioli but I went with the lobster ravioli and it was delicious. I also had a seasonal apple cider martini that was very good. It's on the golf course if you want to make a whole day out of it too! read more

We are from out of state and came here with a good bit of family. The service was very good. There was about 11 of us. All the food looked good. I ate the blackened chicken pasta Alfredo. IT WAS DELICIOUS! My wife had the crab fettuccine . She said the same thing about hers. We highly recommend those two dishes. We will be back the next time we are in the area. UPDATE!! I've talked with others from our party. One got the ribeye and said it was not good to him. Another lady got the steak bits and she didn't like hers either. Idk what's up with the steak. Sunday Brunch with Uncle Thom and friends at Rocky Face Tavern!! My first time in Canton, NC and it turned out to be a very special day filled with excellent food, good friends and a lot of laughs. The restaurant is GORGEOUS, no expense was spared in the design and decor. Going through the front door it's hard to miss the dramatically high ceilings and the eye-catching light fixture. An immense space that's cozy at the same time, especially sitting by the fireplace. Plenty of food options between the lunch and Brunch menus. Our group enjoyed the Crab Cake Benedict with a side salad, Monte Cristo sandwich with breakfast potatoes, and the special of the day: Short Rib Hash. I cannot remember the last time I've eaten so much food! All the food was delicious; and the breakfast potatoes were different than other places, not diced little pieces. They were crispy on the outside and a perfectly cooked potato on the inside. A beautiful restaurant with wonderful service, which is hard to find sometimes! We ate here twice recently. Brunch: Two of us ordered the Cruso Benedict for $15 each, so disappointing. Their menu description parallels the typical description of standard Eggs Benedict found on good brunch menus everywhere. However what they serve here is a cheap version, a LONG way from what you think you will get. Instead of the typical presentation of a 3" slice of Canadian Bacon that covers each muffin half, the meat they serve here cannot be even seen under the eggs, you get a slice of meat (did not look or taste like Canadian) about the same size (1 1/2" diameter) AND thickness as a slice of pizza pepperoni. The egg is topped with about 1 teaspoon of a very mediocre Hollandaise sauce. Food was lukewarm and had clearly been sitting too long under heat lamps. We were not picking up the tab so we we did not feel comfortable in complaining. Next was Valentine's dinner, again friends took us. I ordered the duck breast. They are absolutely clueless about how to cook duck breast correctly. As soon as it was presented, you could see the thick layer of fat between the skin and the meat. If it was properly cooked, they skin would have been crisscross scored with a very sharp knife, placed skin side down in a 500 degree skillet to allow the fat to release from the breast, heat reduced, meat flipped and allowed to cook to about 350F. The Guest should never experience all the fat as presented here. Just like the Hollandaise sauce with breakfast, they were just as stingy with the mediocre cherry sauce that accompanied the duck. Bottom line: if you list an item on a menu learn to compose, cook AND present it properly. We tried this nicely designed place for two meals, just one more eatery oozing with mediocrity. read more

This place, while unassuming in terms of location and exterior (i.e., it's basically at an off the beaten path golf resort), has a menu full of fantastic, high rate food options, all of which were beyond delicious. Wow just wow. This place is awesome. I had the Tuscan Chicken with the loaded mashed potatoes and oh my god, I have never had something that good. Waiter did recommend it and I'm so thankful he did. Staff is all friendly and helpful. Getting drinks from the bar was alittle slow but that's with every bar. The menu is more on the expensive end but I'm telling you it's worth every penny. You actually feel like you are eating real food that's fresh. Will be back! read more

Four of us had drinks and dinner at Rocky Face Tavern on a nice, crisp fall Friday night. Although Springdale Country Club/Resort is a bit off the beaten path, accessible via Hwy. 276 from either Canton or the Blue Ridge Parkway, the new owners reportedly have ambitious plans for the golf course, facilities and lodging. A good deal of money has been invested in the facility over the past couple of years, and the restaurant/bar, called Rocky Face Tavern, is attractive with beautiful stone work. In nearby areas along the Pigeon River there is still a good deal of evidence of the flooding that took place here in fall 2021 but I did not see much if any damage to the golf course or Springdale facilities. We arrived early and had a couple of drinks at the bar before dinner. Call brand drinks are moderately priced (around $10 or $11) but aren't very generous pours. You'd be better off going with the well liquors -- a vodka martini of decent size from the well (Smirnoff, I think) was only around $6. The four of us in the party all ordered from the Friday night specials menu. The main dinner menu has entrees, such as mountain trout, short ribs and a steak, from the $20s to $40s. There's also a "snacks" menu available at dinner with items mainly in priced in the teens. A couple of us had the house burger (around $16 plus an extra few bucks for fries) and two of us had the fish and chips ($23.50). We all enjoyed the food. In fact, I thought my fish and chips -- a large portion of lightly breaded Atlantic cod plus steak fries -- was probably the best fish and chips I've had in the Asheville area. If I were just rating the restaurant on the fish and chips, I'd give it five stars. Service was pretty good, although the restaurant seems to suffer, like many others these days, from occasional staffing issues. Guests seem to be a mix of regulars from the Cruso/Canton area and visitors staying at the property to play golf. The restaurant has two nice fireplaces, one inside and one outside. However, the staff did not start fires in either one, even though a fire would have felt good (even inside) on the cool autumn evening. Again, maybe that's a staffing issue. read more

Great ambiance, and amazing view from the patio, and wonderful food. It was a great introduction to potato salad without raw onions and we were both happy. The view of the golf course was actually what got us interested in golf again . I had a great Caesar salad and hubby had the rocky face chicken face spasm sandwich. We also had cold mountain summer smash drinks, one with bourbon and one with vodka. Food and service was great and we left with leftovers. read more

New restaurant at Springdale Resort has exceptional food and service. Menu offers something for everyone. The bar is second to none with plenty of seating and a upscale sports bar feel! RFT has the ambience of a mountain lodge with patio seating too. read more

The hostess was super nice and the place was quite pretty........but the waitress was really terrible. We had reservations and were seated promptly but after that it was a disaster. The waitress never introduced her self, we had to ask for Silverware, I ordered a drink off of their special's list at the top of the menu. It took 40 minutes to get my 1st drink and about 35 for my dinner partner to get a beer. This was after different people stopped by 7 times to see if I had gotten my beverage. All 7 times they went to the bar but nothing happened. The food was cold on both of our plates. They did insist giving us a free dessert but that really wasn't something I wanted. Do you ever feel like this service was intentionally bad because I wasn't a local? I live near but not in Canton. I really think this is what happened. I won't go back so it worked.
