What a pleasant surprise! I tried the rainbow naruto roll and red maple summer roll. I was highly impressed. I sat at the restaurant and found the atmosphere satisfying mostly for its convenience. It's walking distance from my home. My main course was the beef pad Thai. So yummy!!! I had a few bites of the pineapple chicken fried rice. Also very good! I hate leaving bad reviews. Check my star distribution if you doubt it. But this place truly was terrible. Every single one of us has been sick since eating this food. The chicken "satay" was accompanied by the most inedible and spoiled sauce I have ever tried and was drenched in more oil than one human being should consume in a year. The salad had no dressing. The teriyaki chicken had (almost) zero teriyaki sauce. The shrimp spring rolls are drenched in oil yet have zero shrimp. The lettuce and veggies on the salad and accompanying the chicken entree are wilted and almost completely spoiled. I am so, SO beyond confused as to how a restaurant can, in good conscience, serve this as acceptable meals. I was assured that there was no MSG in what I had ordered and yet I have been sick the same way I get when consuming MSG. When I order from a restaurant like this I am not expecting gourmet food or to be blown away by the quality. But of all the similar places I have ordered from this was by far the worst. We ended up throwing most of the food away yet STILL got sick from the smallish amount we consumed. I will not be ordering from here again and urge you to use caution when considering this restaurant. read more

I started visiting this Chinese take out prior to the new management takeover. The food was one of the better spots and i went out of my way to pick up food from there. HOWEVER , since new management took over the food has had a steady decline. I ordered food yesterday, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, and moo shu chicken. The chicken was dry and over cooked and the beef and broccoli lacked flavor. The Moo shu chicken was pretty good. We were pretty disappointed with the food quality. Not to mention the young man who greeted me was short and not very pleasant. This will be the last time i visit this establishment.... food quality is now equal to the whole in the wall spot by my house. No longer worth the special trip. I'm a bit sad because I used to love Red Maple, but recently it seems like they got a new chef or something. This is my second order since they switch from being on Eat24 and BeyondMenu, to only being on BeyondMenu. That was my first hint that maybe they've had a managerial switch? Last time their lo mein, dumplings, and hot n sour soup were all extremely disappointing. Just bland and the hot n sour soup wasn't even a little spicy. This time the drunken noodles have very little flavour. I know this wasn't always true because I have had these things from them before and they were delicious. My absolute favorite sushi delivery place to order my favorite roll, the Yummy Roll. I love that the delivery is fast, the food is warm and always tastes the same. I have also ordered takeout a couple of times and the quality was the same. Red Maple has expanded and now has two locations both in silver spring. read more

Never again. I placed my order online at 7:25 pm on Tues June 5 2019. It arrived at 9:05 pm. Really????? Delivery address was less than 3 miles from restaurant. Delivery person apparently was not familiar with the area and did not have a GPS. He called me twice trying to find the street which is right off a main thoroughfare in Chevy Chase MD. REALLY????? This is the place you want to order from if you are looking for delicious well-made Japanese and vegetarian respectful Chinese/Thai food. My favorites here are: -veggie meat general tsao chicken/honey sesame: the sauce is now saucier/more flavorful, plus there are more vegetables. The "meat" chunks are fried in a delicious thick, but light, batter then covered with sauce of choice. This is a dream for vegetarians. - pad thai: not too oily, and well spiced. It could use more vegetables and peanuts. sushi: is surprisingly amazing! It is now my go-to for sushi delivery in the NW DMV area. I like eel avocado, Alaska roll, and although the specialty rolls are a bit pricey, they are very large and made with care. Nothing to report regarding customer service and delivery. Food here is quite good the way mutts are cute. The crispy duck I had was generous and crispy--so generous that I might have opted if I had a choice for a bit less duck and some accompanying greens instead. My son's Thai seafood noodle soup was similarly generous with the seafood and this dish had beautiful bokchoy, shiitake, and snow peas, but had udon noodles and a dashi based soup. My son loved it but it wasn't exactly Thai, nor was it a straight ahead bowl of Japanese udon. The service, though, was really stretched. One waiter juggling orders, bussing tables, and taking takeout orders in person and on the phone. It's situated next to the Parkway Deli which is a machine at cranking food out, so if you are in a hurry go next door. I went here looking for a quiet lunch. Everything looked good at first, But things got worse quickly. Staff literally ran by and slammed things at me with zero conversation. Not one time did they ask if everything was OK. I asked for a green iced tea but got some kind of black tea. .Other guests were loud and rude and I had to move my table myself. Some of the food is good some of it is questionable. I come here here and there. This place is often overlooked because of the other restaurants around it and because it always looks closed. I came in recently and asked if I could sit down( they have self seating) they were really rude and said no take out only. I don't know what that was about. Ordered delivery after Spring Garden closed. this was the first delivery sushi that I've found in Silver Spring. Delivery was late. Sushi rice was terribly soggy. Worse sushi rice I've ever eaten. The deep fried roll with cream cheese was literally disgusting. As was the spicy special roll that has jalapeño and red pepper flakes. It was poorly executed although the fish itself tasted pretty good. Gave the whole thing to my two beagles (aka living garbage disposals). The crab Rangoon was acceptable and very similar to Spring garden. But that was the only acceptable thing that I've ordered. Mostly upset with delivery. I placed my order at 11:45 it was accepted and said it would be delivered between 12:35 and 12:45. After three phone calls to the restaurant I finally got my delivery at 1:20 - ridiculously late for a place so close. The restaurant offered me the excuse that the driver dropped someone else's off before mine?? That is factored into delivery times?? The lunch roll special is a great deal. We ordered two three roll combos and split them to try a few things. I got the salad to start which was surprisingly fresh and large. The rolls spanned from good to not so good. I recommend the spicy tuna, California, and shrimp tempura rolls out of the ones we tried. The Boston roll was extremely bland and should have been made with spicy mayo instead of just boiled shrimp lettuce and watery plain mayo. Shrimp tempura roll had nice spice to it as did the spicy tuna. I liked the crab In the Cali roll as it was plentiful and not a weird little stick. The spicy salmon roll had an odd texture - I think the crunch was too crunchy?- it was hard and unpleasant. I wasn't a fan of the east roll - it was mostly avocado and the tiniest bit of shrimp and was just mushy and flavorless. Overall good food for the price. Review based on multiple deliveries from Grubhub. It's my new go to chinese/sushi place now that Spring garden was closed to make way for the purple line. Litterally every dish I have gotten here has been above average and I've probably had like 6-7 different things. I am enjoying working my way through their whole menu! Would give it 5 stars except that they dont give you chopsticks when you order chinese food (only sushi). This is true even if you put it in your instructions multiple times. read more

Spouse ordered online. Response said order for carry-out will be ready in 10-30 minutes. Arrived 30 minutes later to hear customer in front of me askibg where his meal ordered over an hour earlier was. Guy behind counter smirked and said online orders get printed via fax and he forgot to refill paper in machine. Apparently they accepted payment for orders they were not cooking. Waited another 20+ minutes for an accurate, warm but flavorless order of lo mein, General Tso's chicken and mixed vegetables. We're disappointed we have to find a new Chinese restaurant. So so grateful that a good Asian place moved into this spot! I always enjoyed the sushi at Red Maple in Silver Spring - the menu looks the same and the food is the same quality. The sushi we had was excellent. We also got penang curry and I like that you can choose white or brown rice. Oh, and their lunch specials are affordable. Bathrooms are clean. Hooray! read more
