Fish tacos
Lindsey B.

I have heard great things about this place, but I didn't have the same experience. The menu is very expensive for the amount of food that you get and when I went, they were out of three items that I was looking to get. I ended up with the blackened fish tacos, which was good fish, but the taco didn't have very much flavoring. For $24 it was two fish tacos, and a side of fries. The main dining room was closed for a private event so the servers were a little preoccupied and it took a while for us to get the food. I might have to try this on a different day.

Red Drum is another restaurant for a pork chop. It's consistently delicious and they new menu pairs it with a slaw. But, we still choose mashed potatoes. I got the grilled salmon and it was perfect. The other fish is their Smoked short rib ragu Papardelle. If you haven't been, you have to give it a try. Homemade tortilla chips and the fries are so good!

I cannot believe I waited so long to eat here! I loved absolutely everything I had. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the potatoes were creamy with the perfect amount of seasoning. The real show stopper here though was the Crab Nachos ... they were a special so if you don't get the pleasure come back and keep checking for them! I will probably dream about those forever. It's a low key place in the Shem Creek area but away from all the chaos of Shem. Perfect for group dining or date night. It has an excellent wine list, the patio has great lighting and heaters for the winter.

Filet

Busy Saturday night and the bar/inside dining room was hopping. Waitress was great. Filet was just ok. I prefer my steak hot/warm and this was not. Not even warm enough to melt the garlic butter pad that came on top of it. Enchiladas were just ok. Fish was the better of the three.

Burger and fries.

A basic good smash burger, I usually don't like smash burgers. A burger is supposed to be thick and juicy inside like her. But they cooked it right so she had a lil juice. fries were hot. Can't believe I'm saying this but the fries were a lil too salty. But hot and crispy. I do think it was a lil too pricey for a single burger, fries and a can soda $18. If I'm in the area I might stop by again.

Pan Seared Scallops

Scallops were divine! Served over a potato cake which was very crispy. The sauce was so good, that I wanted to soak up every last drop with some bread. Next time. If you love Capers, you will love this dish.

$$$LESSON LEARNED!!!! You no that thing that Yelp tries to help you with as far as pricing? When they have the dollar signs illustrated to show you how expensive or not expensive for places? I'm just browsing through pictures liking what I've seen and saving restaurants on my collections. $$$ Paying no mind to the dollar signs that are trying to warn me. And it cost me tonight. I'm taking my son out for his birthday and we're all sitting down at the table looking at the menu. This is the fourth place we've been to because every restaurant we were at was booked up for a whole hour. $$$ This was the only restaurant we found that we can be seated in 40 minutes or less. Is Charleston be coming overcrowded or was it the holiday traffic? Anywho the three of us looked at the menus and made eye contact with each other immediately. All eyes saying "What did we just walked into"?Which immediately went to"Nah Dad, What did "you" just walked into". Lmao. But we powered through $$$ . The menus pretty limited which means that and the pricing says they are very good at the few things they do. So SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! Show me reasons your so expensive. First of all this valet parking don't see that everywhere. Second of all there's a bodyguard but some people will call a bouncer. You don't see that everywhere. There's two guys walking around checking on everybody making sure everything's all right continuously. One guy looks like the muscle for the soprano family he's wearing Adidas sambas. The other guys wearing a pair of vans and cracking jokes more like Dad jokes to everybody. I know money when I see money and their tenants are not discussing anything these have to be the owners. Owners checking on tables?? don't see that everyday. Then there was the fresh smell of seafood throughout the building. $$$ That is always a winner with me letting me know I'm in the right place. So I'm starting to really understand things. I really wanted to try the chicken quesadillas I keep seeing on the pictures. This place has been on my list for over a year. They came out they were not as pretty as the pictures I saw but I got to admit they were pretty damn good. You only get six but they're nothing like I've ever tasted. I cannot put my finger on these fries they're so hard to describe. I think they're homemade but not sure. Very stringy and well seasoned. There's a flavor coming from them that almost feels like they were soaked in this flavor. It doesn't come off as something sprinkled on them. I can't put my finger on them but you definitely want to eat these with a fork they are so damn good. The chicken sandwich had an extremely salty salsa but that buttermilk fried chicken was rocking. The grill chicken sandwich taste like the chicken was fresh off The grill in the backyard. $$$ Chef's kiss. The burger seem to have a high quality of beef. So I guess they do what they do and do that extremely high clip. I was definitely pleased with everything. I want a glass of wine so bad. But could not bring myself to pay $18 for a glass of chardonnay. I will be back after scratching off the winning scratch off. $$$

Swordfish with mash potatoes and green beans. Delicious!!! Market Fish

The food did not disappoint my guest and I. We celebrated a birthday and we had a blast! The staff, especially the manager... she was FULL of life, enthusiasm and professionalism!! She was an added bonus to our celebration. The drinks were mixed perfectly. The mixologists did amazing!!! Can't wait to come back. Even some guest who overheard us celebrating, stopped to say happy birthday!! The atmosphere was great because of the staff and fellow guests!!

What a beautiful evening at The Shellmore. A later evening…read moredinner gave the already intimate setting that much more ambiance. Starting dinner off right with some deliciously fresh raw oysters complete with a traditional "onion" mignonette, and then Chef Eric brought out a little special treat....the base was fresh lump crab meat topped with some chunked watermelon and the most light, fresh, delicious dressing & crunch. WOW. I could eat that all summer. Moving onto the main courses, a perfectly cooked NY strip & root veggies with a love boat of fresh sauces. Chimi, steak butter, and a horseradish crema. As if the steak needed any sauce, but with that trifecta?? I couldn't help myself. Incredible. The other entree, a risotto and shrimp. Incredibly flavorful, complete with crisp English peas. As I write this, I wish I had another plateful. The bartender is the Chef's little lady, & she was a GEM! I cannot remember her name, but she goes to estate sales, and thrifts the beautiful dishes and glassware that they use in the restaurant, which I thought was so neat! These two truly have put their heart and soul into this little place and you can tell. The menu is of a smaller variety, but variety for sure. Chef Eric changes the menu up daily/weekly, so you never know what you may get, and I think that is honestly one of the best parts about this place. You can tell they care, from the food to the atmosphere they have created. This one deserves all the 5 stars.

The place is super small, maybe five to six tables with a small bar seating area. The menu also is very small and I guess they change it everyday. My wife and I shared the hamachi, I ordered the Ny strip, she had the crab cake and our friend had the salmon. All meals were great! Service was good and drinks were fine. I wish they had house made cocktails but two out three isn't bad. If you are in the ION area check them Out!

Of course they have a lot of indoor seating as well and you still get a great view. The sunset views here are incredible and they have a lot of outdoor seating available we are here in September and the weather is phenomenal so we sat right outside next to the river. The food was very good. I had the swordfish with German potato salad. It was really on a bed of rested finger potatoes with asparagus and awesome fixings. My wife had the flat iron steak and it was also delicious. Parking was a snap. Beer and wine very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants we've been to and drink prices were comparable to other places we've been to around $12- thank $14 a cock cocktail . Overall, I definitely come back here again with no problems and I recommend you check it out too!

Our table also got the meat board, pimento with bacon jam, and the crab and artichoke dip. I loved the mac & cheese and I'm convinced that if you put that sauce on anything it would be 10 out of 10. I also loved the crab and artichoke dip which is served with warm pita, however, there were mixed reviews at our table. The dip was very crab forward, and the artichoke was barely perceptible. The only criticism of the charcuterie was that there was small portions. The pimento and bacon jam is served with Ritz crackers and one's pleasant, but I felt a little underwhelmed. However, for one of the people at our table, it was the favorite. We sat outside in the covered patio area, and I was surprised by how loud the outdoor seating was. If you're sensitive to overstimulation, sitting inside in the air conditioning would be a much more quiet experience. The service was a little slow, but overall the experience was wonderful and the restaurant is located right next to the water. We were there on a weekend and it was busy even though it was in between lunch and dinner. Parking was hard to come by, but that's to be expected for this location.

Post House is actually an inn where you can stay overnight and a restaurant. This review is only gonna be based on the restaurant portion. Had dinner reservations that were easy to make online. Arrived a little bit early, but we were able to be seated after only a few minutes waiting. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Going into how delicious the food was. For an appetizer, they brought out some warm cornbread with sweet whipped butter. The cornbread was light and fluffy with a hint of honey. Sweet and delicious. For my main course, I ordered the sirloin steak that came with a side of potatoes and arugula. The steak was cooked medium as I requested. It had a great flavor and was absolutely delicious. I chose not to finish it off so I could save a room for dessert. For dessert, I ordered the peach cobbler. It was a ample portion of warm peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Again they knocked it out of the park. Everything about this experience was five star from the service to the food. Everyone was so nice. Since it was our first visit here, they even provided a small gift of a mug with some socks inside of it. If you are in Charleston and have the opportunity, definitely come here for dinner.
